Izuku couldn't remember ever running this fast in his entire life, although him being four years old didn't make that too much of an achievement. He also couldn't remember his hair ever being fully blue and yellow. Right now, Izuku was a very unhealthy mix of sadness from his newfound quirklessness and scared of what his father is doing to his mother. The only reason he left his mom was because she was screaming at him to run and he couldn't disobey his mom after she sounded so desperate.
One thing was for certain though, Izuku wasn't just going to leave his mom with his scary father. So he ran and ran and ran until he reached their house.
When he knocked on their door, he heard some faint shuffling before it opened. When it did, his hair flashed pink before reverting back to a blue and yellow, while he was greeted by the friendly face of his best friend, Ochako.
"Hey Izu, what are you doing here so l-"Ochako started to say, but then she saw Izuku's hair color(s) and knew something was extremely wrong.
"H-hey Ocha, c-can you get y-your parents" Izuku managed to choke between sobs.
Five minutes later, the Urarakas and Izuku were sitting in the former's living room. They all patiently waited for Izuku to calm down before talking.
"So what's wrong Izuku? And don't lie, we know that blue and yellow are never a good mix" Ochako's mom asked and then made sure he wouldn't downplay it. They all knew how Bakugo was treating him, but he never told anyone about it.
"D-daddy is hurting M-mommy really bad a-and Mommy told me t-to run even though I d-didn't want to leave her and n-now she's going to b-be hurt really badly b-because of me" Izuku confessed to the Uraraka family.
Taking this news in, Ochako's father's face suddenly turned from worried to infuriated as he left to call the authorities and Ochako and her mother stayed to comfort Izuku.
"What makes you think this is your fault Izuku?" Ochako's mother asked.
"Yeah, your dad is the one hurting your mom, not you, Izu" Ochako exclaimed, she didn't want her best friend to blame himself over this.
"I-It's my fault b-because I'm the r-reason Daddy is beating up M-Mommy. I had m-my quirk exam today a-and the d-doctor said that I d-didn't have a q-quirk, all I h-have is this g-genetic disorder with my hair changing c-colors'' Izuku confessed again, but this time he knew that Ochako and her family would probably stop being nice to him, even so he couldn't lie to them.
"Oh Izuku, that doesn't make it your fault at all, and you being quirkless doesn't change a thing. You are still the smart and caring kid we know you to be. You've done nothing wrong." Ochako's mom said to comfort Izuku.
"And I know you'll be the best hero even without a quirk" Ochako said, pulling Izuku into a tight embrace and assured him that everything is going to be okay, and Izuku's hair flashed between pink, blue, and yellow before finally settling back to green.
Inko wondered who to blame for the mess she was in. She could blame Hisashi for using her for a child and then beating her when he "doesn't meet his standards." She could blame herself for trusting him and telling him the truth about her family. But, the best thing for her to blame is that stupid, shitty prophecy that controls most of society.
However, right now that doesn't matter because she is currently being beat up by her own husband.
"HOW DARE YOU BRING SUCH A USELESS CHILD INTO THIS WORLD" her husband, Hisashi screamed at her while he punched her in the face.
"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO GIVE BIRTH TO THE MOST POWERFUL CHILD ON THE MOTHER FUCKING EARTH, BUT INSTEAD YOU BRING SOME SHITTY WORTHLESS EXCUSE OF A SON ONTO THIS PLANET! THE ONLY THING HE DID RIGHT WAS RUN AWAY BECAUSE I AM ABOUT TO BRING DOWN HELL ON YOU WORTHLESS EXCUSE OF A WIFE" exclaimed Hisashi as he charged up his heat breath and fired it at Inko.
The only thing Inko could do was wait until someone, ANYONE, showed up and saved her. But at least Izuku made it out alright, she wouldn't know what to do with herself if Izuku got hurt. Though she knew that he would run to get help and she couldn't stop him, at least not in her position.
As the world faded black, she could only hope she would survive long enough to see Izuku again.
Soon after Izuku told the Urarakas what his father was doing, the police showed up at the Midoriya household.
They arrested Hisashi Midoriya, who was also known as the number 51 hero, Breath Burner. He will eventually be charged of assault and attempted murder and sentenced to 10 years of prison, they went way too easy on him since not only was he a pro hero, but his quirk resembled one of the prophecy's candidate's quirks.
Inko Midoriya was discovered unconscious and covered with numerous injuries and burns. The doctors said that it would take her at least two years to heal and go through physical therapy. Therefore, since Inko can't take care of Izuku and they have no living family members, there's only really two options.
"You can either be sent to a foster care home or-" the doctor started.
"We'll take care of him" said Mr. Uraraka. He knew how bad the foster system is and that combined with Izuku's quirklessness and genetic disorder would make his life hell.
It also helped that they recently got a 5 billion yen check for building the UA dorms.
"I-" Izuku started to say.
"Izuku, I know you think you'll just be a burden, but trust me when we say we love having you around, and we won't let you be out into the foster care system" said Ochako's mother.
"Yeah, we love you Izu" said Ochako, not fully realizing the extent of her own words, however Izuku's hair must have because it flashed pink for a second.
"I guess I really don't have a choice" said Izuku who secretly was really happy the Urarakas are taking care of him.
Later that day, Mr and Mrs Uraraka gathered Ochako and Izuku for dinner. After a decent amount of comfortable silence, Ochako's mom started to speak.
"I know it's been a really hard day for you guys, but there's something we need to tell you about" she said.
"What is it?!" Izuku and Ochako asked/yelled at the same time.
"How much do you guys know about the prophecy?" asked Mr. Uraraka.
"Well, the teachers told us that many years ago there was a group of people that combined their powers to defeat the number one villain…" Izuku started.
"And by combining their powers they created the strongest quirk that will be given to one of their family members at the time where the world needs it most" Ochako finished while pumping her fist in the air.
"They're so cute" thought Ochako's mom.
"Do you know who the families are?" asked Mr. Uraraka.
"The Todoroki family which includes the Hero; Endeavor, the Kaminari family which includes the Hero; Shocker, the Izumi family which includes the Hero Duo; Water Horse, the Hassakai family which disappeared slightly after the release of the prophecy, and the Shuzenji family which includes the Hero; Recovery Girl, right?" Asked Izuku.
"Wrong!" Mrs. Uraraka denied.
"You are missing the Midoriya and Uraraka families!" Mr. Uraraka explains.
"WHAT?!" Izuku and Ochako screamed.
"Wait, but that's us, right?" the (currently) green-haired boy tried to confirm.
"That's us!" Mr. Uraraka confirmed.
"But then why did the teachers not talk about us in class?" the youngest brunette asked.
"That's because whoever came up with the prophecy decided to leave us out. So instead of trying to convince the world of our family members' contributions, we decided to take the exclusion as a blessing. Instead of being forced to be heroes by society and losing our privacy, we get to choose what we want to be and what we want to do without being judged for it" explained the older brunette.
"Us and Izuku's mother didn't want to be heroes, so we didn't have to be. But if you two truly want to be heroes, you will without a doubt be the best there are,'' said Ochako's dad.
"But-"
"Quirks aren't everything Izuku, if you want to be the number one hero, you can definitely be the number one hero, you might just have to work harder than most others" Ochako's mom interrupted.
After his quirk assessment and his dad attacking his mom, Izuku really needed something to convince him that he could still be a hero, and that definitely did the trick. Izuku's hair has never been this light green before, he was so happy.
And nothing was going to stop him from being a hero now!
(A/n: Izuku's genetic disorder causes his hair color to change based on his feelings. It isn't considered a quirk because the doctor's X-rays showed that he still had the extra joint in his pinky toe. His colors are
Red - Anger
Yellow - Scared/Nervous
Green - Happy/Hope
Blue - Sadness
Pink - Love
White - REDACTED
Black - REDACTED
White and Black will be revealed in future chapters.
Other than that, I hope you guys enjoyed the prologue and chapter 1(I released them at the same time), this is my first fanfiction, so feel free to point out some things I could fix and suggestions for future chapters.)
