A/N Okay guys just wanted to give you a particular warning to those of you who cry easily over this kind of stuff I want you to know that this is not the end of the story there is still more to come even though it doesn't look possible to make a happy ending out of this chapter, I'm playing around with some stuff for Y'all. Just hang tight for me.

Just as promised, Jessica was released the next day into the comfort of her own home. Although not much more comfortable with the seemingly endless security switch offs between Andy, Floyd, and Mort and the constant concern about Seth. Seth on the other hand although no one could have any way of knowing he was in there, was getting very impatient. He knew that there was always security outside his door, but he was worried about Jessica. He was tired of wasted time he'd spent being just friends with her. All of those moments he could have kissed her lips and told her he loved her. For once he agreed with Eve Simpson. Now it could all be over. He had heard her yell that she loved him as he blacked out. He had to somehow get out of here. Just then he heard the door open. The only difference than usual was that it locked behind the person who walked in. His blood ran cold when he heard the familiar voice in a cool tone,

"Don't worry about a thing Dr Hazlitt.

Sometimes induced comas work like that. If you can hear me, it won't be for long. This should put you right over the edge." He didn't know exactly what she did next, but he assumed a deadly liquid was being put into his IV tube. He heard the door unlock. A code blue rang out through the hallways of the hospital. The sound of the sudden movement of footsteps and voices filled his ears in his room. But it didn't make any sense. His heart wasn't stopped. He wasn't dead….at least that's what he thought.

Jessica was on her sofa with her leg propped up, eyes fixed on the case file Mort had brought her against his better judgment. Going over the photos of the evidence and the crime scene made her want to throw up. However, it was when she spied a different piece of evidence that distracted her. Picking up the phone she dialed Mort.

"Hi Mrs. F. Is everything alright?" He asked, concerned.

"Uh Mort there's a letter here in the case file that you found on Amy Duncan."

"Yeah, what about it?"

"I need you to take me back to the hospital."

"Mind filling me in?" He asked slightly frantically.

"On the ride over. Hurry!"

With slight trouble as Jessica's leg was still healing, they eventually made it to the hospital. Jessica filled Mort in on the way over. Upon arrival, Mort once again parked the car nearly spinning before he did so.

"Mrs. F stay in the car."

"Why can't I go in?" She asked. Mort was about to shut his door but stopped.

"Oh, now you want to go in?"

"Mort he's in serious trouble up there!"

"You still have an out of commission leg. And this is dangerous. I can't have you even more injured."

"But-"

He didn't give her time to finish. He ran into the hospital with his weapon drawn. By that time Andy had also shown up to accompany Mort and Floyd was upstairs. As impatient as Jessica was, she began to

Get out of the car herself. Still attempting to be somewhat easy on her leg, she managed to open the door and climb out. Walking across the parking lot it seemed a lot easier than it should have. She could feel her heart pounding and attributed it to the adrenaline. Making her way to the elevator, everything on the first floor seemed quiet. Finally, up on the floor Seth was on, the elevator doors opened, and Jessica was greeted with an onset code blue. She quickly attempted to move out of the way and went into a panic when she saw they were headed for Seth's room. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. Sounds around her faded out and her eyes felt hot. She could hear the heartbeat in her chest and the code blinking in her face reminded her of the electrical charging of the paddles she was hearing. Every time they increased the charge, it radiated through her chest. She felt dizzy and faint. She saw the killer walking in the opposite direction. About to run after them, she thought against it for Seth. She started running towards the room not caring about her leg anymore and ignoring Mort who was holding her back. So much was happening in so little time, and it felt so long. It was when she heard the paddles stop that she shoved herself past Mort and into his room.

"No!" she yelled as she ran into the room. The heart monitor was still at a flatline.

"Ma'am you can't be in here." One of the respiratory workers told her.

"No! Please! You can't give up on him!"

"She's hysterical, get her out of here." Another said. "Start him on the bypass so she can say goodbye."

Two more doctors got to work on the machinery.

Jessica was in too much pain to put up a fight. She just collapsed and cried. Mort came rushing to her side and took her out of the room while they worked, and they sat down in the solemn room while the rest of the hospital got back to work. Floyd came over and sat down with them. Just then Jessica looked up.

"Where's Andy?" She asked.

Mort looked up and at that moment two faint gunshots rang out from below them.
