"Promise me Luz! Please!"

"Okay Mom, I promise."

Luz remembered it like it was yesterday. Well, it was yesterday since Luz walked through the portal to the human realm and instead of being home, she was stuck in-between a realm between the human and demon realm where she could only communicate through reflections.

But her mom wasn't the first person she started talking to, it was actually an escaped Basilisk named Vee who had taken Luz's place and had been living with Camila.

But unfortunately, Vee's shape changing powers were running out and she needed magic. But the basilisk got captured by a crazy conspiracy theorist who had an obsession with demons leading Luz to go to her Mom for help and telling her the truth about the demon realm as well.

She did manage to rescue Vee but that eventually lead to a heartbreaking goodbye in the rain where Luz might have slipped that she chose to stay in the demon realm. Which lead Camila to believe that Luz ran away because of her which wasn't true.

Once Luz was being dragged away, Camila made her promise that when she returned she would stay with her and things would be different.

The promise that Luz had made had her feeling mixed feelings. On the one hand, she'd get to see her mom again after months while on the other, that mean she'd have to leave everything that she found in the Boiling Isles behind. Her friends, her mentor, her magic education and her girlfriend, will be just a happy memory while she stayed in the human realm.

The human witch was busy sitting underneath the Grom tree with her book in her hand, staring off into the distance, still thinking about the promise she was forced to make. She hadn't talked to anyone about what had happened except for Hooty whose pestering succeeded. Well, she only told portions of the story.

All Luz could think about was what she would tell everyone. Eda, King, Willow, Gus, Hooty, Principal Bump and….

"Hey Luz." The sudden appearance of Amity made Luz scream, causing her to drop her book.

"Oh, hey Amity." Luz replied while putting on a forced smile. "What are you doing here?"

Amity gave her girlfriend a deadpan expression. "You forgot we were supposed to meet here, didn't you?"

It was at this moment that Luz started panicking. "Oh my gosh! Amity! I'm so sorry I forgotten! I just have a lot of stuff on my-"

Amity then started chuckling at her girlfriend's overreaction. "Luz, it's not a big deal. I'm late anyway." Amity then slumped down next to Luz and sighed.

"Late?" Luz queried. "How did you end up late? You're not usually late for anything."

Amity sighed again. "I just finished some homework and Edric reminded me that I had to meet you today. Look, I swear that won't happen again."

"Amity, I did mention I forgot we were supposed to meet today." Luz said. "But it does kind of explain why I decided to subconsciously come here."

"So, how did the test go?" Amity asked. "Did the portal work? Was there enough Titan's Blood?"

"Well, it did work but I didn't think there was enough." Luz replied. "Because I ended up somewhere between the human realm and demon realm where I could only communicate through reflections."

"Communicate through reflections?" Amity then smirked. "You didn't think about spying on me, did ya?"

Luz blushed and looked away. "No."

But Amity saw through her lie and turned red in the face. "You dirty…." Amity then gently tapped Luz with her book.

"Hey, I stopped myself." Luz protested.

"But you thought about it." Amity said while smirking cheekily.

"I know! But I realised I had a mission and went back to it." Luz replied.

"So, did you see your Mom?" Amity asked. "You did mention me, right?"

"Oh…yeah." Luz replied while rubbing the back of her head. "I told her about the demon realm and….told me to say hi to everyone and…..I don't remember anything else. Things just happened so fast."

Amity knew the reason why Luz would be acting this nervous could only mean two things. She could be either lying or just acting shy around her.

"Are you sure Luz?" Amity asked while raising an eyebrow. "I mean, you haven't seen her for months and she hasn't seen you for months. Surely there must have been more."

"Again…..I don't remember much." Luz once again lied. I mean, she wanted to tell Amity the truth but she was scared of the reaction that might come from her. Would she be understanding? Would she be angry? Would she be upset? Heck, she also didn't wish to be upset in front of her after yesterday's incident.

Amity sighed, perhaps a little disappointed with her girlfriend for not being entirely truthful while Luz just stared at her girlfriend, scared of what she might say. The human witch knew that she wasn't exactly perfect at lying and she knew it was bad when her own girlfriend could see through it.

"Luz, when you're in a relationship you know that promises have to be made, right?" Luz nodded her head while Amity looked away from her. "And one of them is honesty. Even if you know that whatever it is might upset me. And besides, I thought you might have known about this." Amity stared back at Luz and saw that she was looking away from her. "You do know that a dishonest relationship is a very unhealthy relationship."

"I don't need you to educate me, alright?!" A teary eyed Luz yelled at her girlfriend as she turned to face her. The sudden outburst made Amity kind of terrified since she never saw Luz this angry. But she was worried when she saw the tears.

When Luz saw Amity's terrified expression, it only made her realise what she did and panic. "Oh Amity, I am so, sorry. I didn't mean to get angry at you. I get you're only trying to help I-"

"Hey, hey." Amity interjected as she wiped away her girlfriend's tears. "Luz, it's okay. Do you want to talk about what happened?"

Luz wiped away her tears and replied, "I do but I'm scared of how you'd react."

Amity gently held Luz by her hands look into her hazel eyes. "Luz, please. Don't hide it. Be honest if you want to talk about it. Please."

Luz took a deep breath. "When I went to the mirror dimension and tried to contact Mom, I found out that for the last few months, someone had taken my place." Amity gave a small gasp. "It was a Basilisk named Vee who had escaped and had been living with Mom. I was glad to know that Mom wasn't alone even though she didn't know that wasn't her daughter and I decided to help Vee get some magic that existed in some trading cards to power her up. But she unfortunately got captured by a crazy conspiracy theorist that wanted to prove to my government that demons existed. I decided to go to Mom for help and I told her everything."

"You did mention me right?" Amity asked while blushing.

"I wasn't ready to tell her about Lumity." Luz replied.

"Huh?"

"It's our cute couple name." Luz replied before shaking her head. "But that's not important. Anyway, she rescued Vee and agreed to let her stay."

"Well that's great." Amity remarked.

"But then I slipped that I chose to stay here." Luz said. "And that lead her to believe that I chose to stay here because she made me run away."

"Did she?" Amity asked.

"No! I only chose to stay here because I wanted to be a witch." Luz replied. "I never meant to make her think that! I was going to come back to her once summer was over but things changed after I destroyed the door. But then, I promised that I'd stay with her once I get a working portal."

"Did she make your promise that?" Amity asked.

Luz nodded her head. "I tried explaining but she wouldn't listen. And now, I don't know what to do. While I want to be with Mom so she knows that I'm okay, but I'm worried that I have to give everything that I have succeeded in this realm." Luz now had tears falling from her eyes.

"Oh Luz. Maybe when I come with you, I can try and convince your mom to try and visit." Amity suggested. "I mean, she might see how much of a positive contribution you've had on this place and decide to let you visit from time to time."

"How do you know she won't?!" Luz asked worryingly. "I'm lost, confused and I don't know what to do! I don't know how I can convince my Mom to let me visit! I mean, what if I do have to give it up? Do I need to give up my magic education?!" Tears started falling from her eyes. "Do I need to give up my friendships?! Do I need to give up you?!" Luz couldn't say anything else, she was now crying uncontrollably.

The cotton candy haired witch quickly pulled her human girlfriend into a hug which made her cry into her shoulders. "It's okay. It's okay." Amity cooed her gently. "Let it all out Luz." The witch had tears falling from her eyes now. Seeing her girlfriend like this really made her depressed. "Luz, if there's one thing about you I admire, it would definitely be how you help people for the better. Look at what your presence here has done. You helped Eda and Lilith rekindle their relationship, you helped Willow get into a better coven, you made this tree, you helped King regain his memories and you helped me become a better person. If you can do all that, then there might be a chance your Mom will change her mind about this place."

Luz gave a small smile as she tightened her hug on Amity. But it quickly disappeared when she realised she didn't tell the others. "But how can I tell the others? How will they react?"

"Luz, maybe they'll be understandable." Amity replied. "Eda, Willow and Gus will understand. But Hooty might not have the best reaction while King could be very clingy with you."

Luz chuckled. "I knew he had a soft spot for me." She pulled herself out of the hug to stare at her girlfriend. "Thank you for listening to me Amity."

"And thank you for opening up." Amity said before kissing her on the cheek. "I get it was hard. When you tell the others, let me know if you want me there to support you."

"I will Amity." Luz then embraced her girlfriend who did the same in return. "I will."
