Pokémon Pallet Town Heroes

After Immediately finishing the first chapter I wanted to write again. Remember, I've written this because "Pokemon: Ash and the Dex holders: Kanto" Is really good and you should check it out. The Starly I gave Ash is shiny and has been randomized! I thought it would be fun and exciting if I did that. I chose Starly because I just wanted to. Staraptor is a cool Pokemon. With such a big focus on Ash, I will focus on the others a bit more. Ash will appear since I know him best. And About Pikachu... He will appear and go to Ash, but I want to use the story from the first episode of the new Anime and put it here. I hope you'll find that interesting. He won't appear for a little while, but he'll be here. As I read my first chapter, I felt things went a bit too fast, so I'll add details and be a bit more thoughtful about what they're doing. I

All rights go to their respective owners. The Pokemon series The Pokemon Company, the manga to Hidenori Kusaka. The 'story' to me.

I not good at writing battles, I am learning, but it's quite slow. So the fights are lame, like a full stop.

EDIT: Corrected some mistakes.

Chapter 2: Journey through step 1 and step 1.2

Suffice to say the Red was in a bit of a pickle.

After traveling a bit with Blue and Green, they decided to split and do their things. Red went into Viridian forest to have some time with his Pokemon and maybe catch another Pokemon. It was also to see what caused the large crater on the road. The crater was big and looked like it was created by some large Pokemon. There could have been a big fight between Pokemon. Whatever it was, it was powerful.

Red wanted to catch it.

He was brought out of his thought by Saur's vines gaining his attention. "You need anything Saur?" "Bulba Bulbasaur!" Saur was pointing in a direction that leads further into the Viridian forest. He smirked before placing his red cap backward to show his spiky black hair, "Okay! Time to see what caused this and catch it!" Saur and Poli agreed before returning to their Pokeballs. With a determined smile, he marched to Viridian. That was a Bad Idea.

He was now hiding in the bush with some goons in black suits were looking for him. He was holding his breath for who knows how long.

"Search harder! He couldn't have gotten far!" "Sir, what about the Starly?" "We'll find it later, right now that brat is of more importance." with a huff the boss marched in one direction, the goon the other way. After listening to the footsteps slowly getting quiet he sighed with relief. "Whoo! Almost got caught there. Now time to save those Pokemon." After traveling some moments into Viridian, he found a small camp. Trying to gain their attention to see if they saw any particular strong Pokemon. His Pokedex started beeping and, of course, he turned his eyes away from the approaching men to his Pokedex. It read:

Alert! Team Rocket in the vicinity!

calling the Police!

He looked up and ran for his life. He was lucky because if a second later, He would've knocked out cold. But thankfully, knowing the cops were going to solve this and didn't need him, he left. Well, he was going to leave. He knew the cops were coming, Team Rocket knew they were coming, The cops were alerted so they were coming. He should've left and had them deal with the rubble.

But he was Red. He was going to be the very best like no one ever was.

He saw the cages, the pained groans of the Pokemon. The needles with the green liquid.

He needed to stop it. So he was going to need a plan.

Blue. The Grandson of THE professor. Prodigy. Strong. Arrogant.

He liked the last three. Always overshadowed by his old man. "He's the grandson, of course, he'd be good," "Those damn Oak's," "You hit the Jackpot. All those privileges of yours," Just thinking about those made him grind his teeth. So nothing he did was ever his own? Nothing he made was his accomplishment? Make no mistake, he knows living under his old man meant many opportunities. But that doesn't dismiss the fact that he took it. Doesn't take away his hard work.

Alone. It was his work alone. He never works well with others.

Red and Green were different. Red was egotistical, but not annoying like Ash. Red didn't make excuses, most of the time. Pokemon Master? what the hell does that mean!? Red wanting to the Indigo league made sense. It was a tangible goal. A goal that everyone knew about. Something real, something respected. Not something made up. When Red announced that he would be the best like no one ever was.

Blue would simply be better than him and show that this was his accomplishment. At the finals, when he takes out Red's entire team, he'll smile and prove to the world that this was him. He'll beat Ash, He'll beat Red, He'll show the Kanto Region, He'll show his old man who he is. Before even picking starters he was already planning. Planning what teams and what composition he would put. Meticulously crafting his team to be the strongest. To be stronger than the Elite Four.

He didn't have a complex.

Anyway, He was on his way to Pewter City to Challenge the Gym Leader. Why not start his journey on the right foot and get ahead when he had the chance. He heard the Gym Leader was a rock-type user, which means he was at a disadvantage. Luckily he thought of a plan. This wasn't a video game, there were no levels in real life. You had to take what you learn and hone them to be sharp. There was a school where they 'taught' levels he had heard of. He scoffed. He also heard that the school was for rich kids and only rich kids. His old man said so, and he was much more knowledgeable. What he was looking for was something only a few can get, something invaluable.

Technical Machines. Something invaluable as it could teach your Pokemon moves that they didn't usually learn.

For Charmander, there was one move he could learn, Brick break. A fighting type move that would blow away the Pewter City Gym. Of course, that wasn't his only plan. He had another saved up. One saved on his belt in a red Pokeball. His old man came through and gifted him with an egg to raise. So he raised it behind Red and every other kid. One from the Sinnoh region. Highly regarded. The champion used it as her ace.

That Pokemon that his old man gave him, something which he had to prove that he could take care of. It was rowdy and very touchy. It was extremely powerful as well. One advantage that they all had was the Pokedex. The manual explained many things. Including but not limited to, being able to facetime each other, alerting them to Team Rocket, and Pokedexes can sense each other and notify the user.

One very important thing that was said was that it stored Technical Machines. The dex was useful.

As he looked on he saw that Pewter City was getting close. He had a confident smirk. It faded away as he was now planning who to use and what items to have them hold.

His victory would be in the bag.

Green was already ahead of them both. Beating Brock and getting the Boulder badge. She thought the badges were simple ornery things that only signify that you won. She was wrong. Brock explained to her that all badges affected your Pokemon. It could gain the respect of stronger Pokemon, and it would also boost your Pokemon abilities. Those badges were his, and the holders of the Soul, Thunder, and Volcano badge.

Green felt that she was in over her head, but then again. It's like jumping off a cliff and building your wings as you fall. If you started trying to know everything beforehand, you'll never start your adventure. Her mother said that.

Her mother.

That monster of a man. No, just a monster hiding behind a mask. She was only three, but she remembered it vividly. His hideous laughter, the burn marks on her, her nightmares. She didn't know where her parents went, they cut all contact with everyone. She wasn't sociable, she couldn't be a normal girl with a normal childhood and friends. It was taken away from her.

But now she had friends, Red and Blue. They always competed, but they never forgot her. She could outspeed both of them along with being smarter than the two. They were the only ones grounding her to this place. Well, not just them. Green treasures all of them. She was going to find her parents, and keep the promise to her brother.

Silver was waiting for her. She made a promise to meet him again. They were siblings after all.

While walking she thought of her strength. She was strong, she was ahead of both Red and Blue. Red went back to Viridian after claiming the Boulder badge like she did, but went back to investigate the crater. Blue went to the Pokemon Center to plan oh how he was tackling the Gym Leader. Green also saw that one of his pokeballs was already contained another member.

Alright Blue, Keep your secrets.

She needed to get stronger if she wanted to resolve her problem, She thought about some Pokemon that worked well with Blasty, her Squirtle, she needed a balanced team filled with Pokemon that could take a hit and dish it back. After thinking about many Pokemon, it would be important to evolve all of them. She knew a lot about evolution. She thought about all of the teams throughout her walk to Mt. Moon.

5 minutes later...

Red had his plan, they just had to put everything in motion.

They were at the camp hiding in different places. Poli was hiding in the big tent waiting for the signal. Saur had his vines ready, waiting to attack the evildoers. Poli first unlocked every cage, he then communicated that they wait patiently to attack the men in black. A lot were annoyed with this plan, but they kept at it for the chance to spite Team Rocket. As for Red and his position.

He was at the Center, not hiding. In plain view of everyone. Waiting for them to appear. Appear they did.

"Stupid Kid, stupid job, stupid boss, stuPiD EVERYTHING!" One of them did anyway.

That one man was very angry. He ignored Red. Red, however, was dumbfounded. He had to say something, "H- he- HEY! I'm right here! You won't tie me up or what?" What was supposed to come out taunting and smug came out awkward. Red cringed at his delivery and wished he could start over, but now the Team Rocket grunt noticed him and scowled,

"Damn brat! I'll kill you!" With that declaration, he sent out a beedrill, "Beedrill Poison jab!" The beedrill flew towards Red with the loud buzzing of its wing. It aimed true in between Red's eyes. Red Yelped before quickly calming himself and readied the cloth in his hands. As the Beedrill came closer and reared back his needle arm coated with poison and thrust. It was only an inch away before ducking and throwing the cloth onto the Pokemon. It was blind and still thrusting. With the inability to change direction, it slammed right into a tree. Right above Bulbasaur.

Bulbasaur soon wrapped his Vines onto the beedrill and slammed it between two trees over and over. The Beedrill let out a hoarse cry of helplessness. Helpless and taking a beatdown of being used as a club to shape two trees. The grunt was furious. He looked so red that his eyes were bulging and veins looked ready to explode.

"You're pretty easy. Not going to lie," Red being blunt while not even looking at what was going between the beedrill and Saur. He was taunting the grunt to get even closer to the center. The grunt face was contorting too badly it looked like a Ditto that was constipated. Red had to take it further, "Your boss probably considers you a failure, and your boss's boss, Your dad, your mom too. Man~ you should just quit!~" With a smug grin he started to goad him into running at him. He thought this plan would work. These types always had anger issues.

He looked ready to... Cry?

The red in his face was still there, but he was sniffling now. Oh, wait this was- "I know I know... I can't do anything right. I got this job thinking I'll do something with my life. But NOTHING GOES RIGHT." The grunt wailed. He was on his knees now looking down. He looked defeated in every sense of the word. Ready to give up and go home. His family would probably reject him. The grunt thought about all the times that he accidentally messed everything up. All the scoldings and beatings he took and he was the failure of his siblings.

The runt of the litter. Now this random kid who had nothing to do with this already knew he was a loser. Nothing goes right. He didn't mean to set the playground on fire. No one believed him, not even his own mother.

Red now looked completely perplexed and guilty. The grunt, now focusing on his looks, seemed to be the same age as Daisy, 15 years old. He felt so bad about what he just did. Both Poli and Saur were looking at the situation in varying degrees of guilt and pity. Saur who was still holding the Beedrill looked at Poli and Red looking extremely guilty. He cautiously set down the knocked out beedrill and crawled a bit closer to Red. Poli was looking at the grunt with pity, eyes full of pity. He was leaning on the tent only showing his eyes to see what was happening. To see a teen grovel and whimper made him wince and cringe.

Red looked back at the Pokemon in the cages and ushered them to leave, This wasn't worth it. Not because he didn't deserve it. The grunt probably did. Red just felt really bad. Like damn.

Red had a rope near him and was about to tie him for the Viridian cops to come. He didn't see the Rhyhorn in the distance, but Poli and Saur did. "Saur BulbaSAUR," with that shout Saur lashed out with his vines intending to grab and spin the angry four-legged truck. Rhyhorn powered through with no hesitation. It ignored the 4x weakness and roared with the might of a boulder. Red turned to the Pokemon and looked like a deer in headlights.

"Crap!" -Red dropped everything and jumped out of the way. The Rhyhorn went true and crashed into most of the camp and empty cages. Looking at the devastation Red was extremely lucky.

Only to have a foot smash into his face and broke his nose. He reeled and writhed in pain like a soccer player.

"Looks like the brat was easier than I thought. Rhyhorn use bulldoze!" With the grunts command, Red's eyes shot up, and were staring down at the charging monster.

"Poli- use bubble bam!" The warbled command by Red made Poli spring into action. Jumping up a stream of bubbles came from its black swirl. It propelled Poli backward while stopping the Rhyhorn in its tracks.

From the Vines to the crash, and now the bubbles was the last thing it needed. With Rhyhorn's face becoming washed he went down with a heavy *thud*.

Both of the grunts Pokemon were out so he had to use the disobedient one. He was about to send it out before Red sent a fist to his chin. A good *crunch* noise sounded out as the grunt dropped like a sack of bricks. Red seeing the Pokeball acted like a mugger and took his wallet and unclipped the Pokeball from the grunts belt. He ran before the boss could come back.

Red was scared, that was the closest time a Pokemon had come for him. His life flashed right before his eyes. He did what he came to do. He saved those animals and now he needed to leave.

"C'mon Poli! Saur! We're leaving!" Holding his broken nose he returned them to their Pokeballs and carried himself to Pewter City.

It was safe to say that Blue's battle was a bit more than he expected.

That was to say, Brock's brothers and sisters tried to stop him from winning. They clung to him and tried to stop him from commanding his Pokemon that were dealing with Brocks well enough.

"Dang brats- GET OFF OF ME!" Blue was very irritated. He shrugged them off before shouting, "Charmander brick BREAK!" with that command Charmander ran at the Onix. Charmander jumped from where Onix snaked and jumbled around onto his back. He ran across Onix's body before jumping into the air where his hand Glowed with power.

Charmander struck straight down Onto Onix's head. It sent the Snake Pokemon face crashing down onto the battlefield. Smoke and dust erupted from it clouding the battlefield. Once the dust settled Onix was clearly out. Charmander stood on its body proudly.

"hmph. Easy." With that settled the referee, which was another of Brock's brother, hesitantly called the victory of Blue. Blue being the victor was miffed. This would have been way easier if those brats didn't interfere. The challenger and Gym Leader recalled both of their Pokemon and walked into the field.

They shook hands cordially when Brock said, "Sorry for all the trouble my siblings caused you. They are very protective of me." "Tch... *sigh* It's no problem. Someone should've in the first place. Where the hell are your parents? You don't look that much older tha me." With Blue questioning him Brocks face contorted into something bitter and sad, "They both left. they abandoned us," Blue promptly shut his mouth and crossed his arms. He looked on with pity. He recalled Ash and how his father abandoned him.

"I take it you don't know where they went?" "Truthfully, my dad is outside of Pewter City. Just out of the gate." Brock saw Blue's contemplative face. He was about to say what was he thinking about before he was interrupted by Blue himself.

"I smack some sense into him." "Hu- wha- Wait WHY? HOW!?" Brock was surprised and shouted his disbelief. This kid from Pallet Town was going to beat his 'dad'.

"Because you shouldn't be doing this." With the blunt statement, Blue walked out of the Gym and stalked towards the entrance to Pewter.

Brock thought about it. He had the Gym label forced upon him when his parents left him. He had to take care of his siblings alone. Be the Man of the house. He was only 15. When he came back he was happy. He didn't have to do this anymore. But then his dad abandons them again. He lived just outside of Pewter.

His dad was a coward. He couldn't even face his children.

Brocks fist balled up in anger. He looked at Blue's back when he left to smack his dad around. He was headstrong, arrogant, egotistic. Blue felt like a snobby rich kid. Felt like Blue knew something he didn't. Blue didn't have to do this, but he's doing it. Whether he did it for Brock or himself was something else entirely.

Brock concluded that he should be doing this. Not Blue. This was his fight. He wanted to thank Blue for this, but now he had to chase after him and confront his dad.

So Brock ran towards the entrance, towards Blue, and his father.

Red had exited Viridian Forest with a heavy sigh and looked around. He found a hobo on the side of the road. He was near the entrance to Pewter City.

"H-Hey! Old man! get the police! *heave* where the hell is the police!?" Red was ignored which miffed him. This guy was selling rocks to people the last time he saw him. His head was down. He looked like he was asleep. Red tried shaking him, but the odor was too strong.

"C-c' mon old man! Team Rocket will be coming soon! Get up!" Red wasn't about to let this man get hurt in the crossfire. He was trying to wake him to get up and enter the city. Both of them would be safe. Red was getting more and more frantic. Team Rocket was dangerous. They didn't care whether you were a man, woman, or child. They would remove all the same.

"Red, you're ba- hey what the hell happen to your nose!?" Looking up from the hobo he saw Blue and a teen running close behind him.

"Teamb Rubum. abnyway Their cobming!" Red was holding his nose so it muffled his voice, but Blue got the gist of it. Blue looking into Viridian Forest saw an outline of a figure. He dropped his backpack before reaching for a Pokeball. Brock who was here now, did the same.

Bursting from the forest came a man with cyan hair and a smug smirk. Wearing the black Team Rocket uniform, he had this menacing swagger about him.

"You better make your prayers now, your stupid cops ain't showing," Came the coarse voice of the Admin. It was rough, so it matched his smirk well.

"I don't know what you did to Red, but trash like you should just disappear," With that, Blue sent out Charmander.

"Heh. cute." The mocking tone of the Rocket member irked Blue and made him scowl.

"Charmander use ember!" Charmander built-up fire from his tail, to his body, and out it came from his mouth. A fast spitfire that was about to collide with the Admin's face only to hit something else.

"Koffing, gyroball." The voice was coarse and cold. The command was concise and focused. With that single command, Koffing zoomed and span round and round. The speed was too fast for Gary to give out a command and Charmander was too slow to react.

Koffing slammed into Charmander's jaw and sent him to the ground fast. Blue couldn't react fast enough and his face followed to where Charmander dug into the dirt. He looked back at the Koffing which had a perpetual smile on its face. The face was malicious that made Blue tenser. He berated himself for sending a tired Pokemon out.

"Smog." Smog was dangerous for Pokemon and doubly so for humans.

"Damn. Don't breathe it in! Blue!" Brock Froze and yelled. He covered his nose and mouth.

"Still here, Brock. Red you still here."

"Rigbt here!"

Being shrouded in poison was bad. Staying in the smog with that strong Koffing was worse. They had to leave or deal with this.

"Graveler, grab it." The blunt statement surprised everyone. It couldn't have been Brock. He didn't have a graveler yet and he was about to send out Omastar. Brock already knowing who this was quickly looked around and there he was. The hobo, now standing straight up and looking forward. Brock was seeing a man on a mission, someone with a purpose. His dad was doing something. Something, finally.

"KOFF-ICKK!" A loud *thump* sounded out and with that, the smog cleared. Red and Blue sighing and releasing their breaths saw what caught the Koffing. A giant boulder with four arms, one grabbing the poison Pokemon with a tight grip.

"You damn filthy rat!" The look on Admin Proton's face was priceless. He reached for Koffings Pokeball and was about to Return.

"Now, an earthquake." Graveler gave out a hearty grin before raising the arm with Koffing in it. Proton widens his eyes and quickly returned Koffing into his Pokeball. The command was already given. With his mighty fist, Graveler slammed it down with such force that the earth shook. Cracks appeared and like snakes the cracks surged forward to Proton.

Panicking now, Proton dove to his left before throwing a smokeball onto the ground, covering his escape.

The shape of the land changed. Large cracks were out in the open with stalagmites out in the air like spikes. In awe at the power, Red looked at the hobo with newfound respect. Blue looked at the power of his graveler. This was Brock's dad. He was strong, stronger than Blue. Of course, he would be, but this gap seemed too big for Blue's liking.

Brock, however, looked at his father with a blank stare. His emotions not clear to anyone but his dad. While he was thankful for the aid, he was still a crappy father. It was going to take a lot to forgive.

But this was a good step.

Brock's dad looked Red and Blue in the eye but looked toward the ground when he started walking away. He was ashamed of what he did. He doesn't deserve his family.

"Dad." Flint's head shot up. He didn't look behind him, but he was listening. His kids didn't call him dad, at least not anymore. He said nothing, as he didn't know what to say. He didn't prepare for this since he didn't think this was gonna happen. Flint was frozen stiff, not moving or talking.

"Da-" "Talk you, coward." Blue interrupted Brock. Brock gave a "Hey!" but Blue ignored him. This was Brock's dad. Someone with strong Pokemon, but wasn't strong himself. Blue looked at him with contempt.

"Blue, this is between him and me. I thank you for what you did, but lay off." Blue looked at him for a bit. He was quiet before letting out a 'tsk' and went to walk away. Before that Brock pulled his arm to whisper something into his ear. Blue listened in then nodded his head and left.

"C' mon Red, this has nothing to do with us." Red covering his nose looked at Blue before bowing towards Flint in gratitude. He didn't know what he would do without his help. Red scurried off to go to the Pokemon Center with Blue to heal their Pokemon. Blue recalled Charmander while Charmander dusted himself off. He was tired but okay.

"I-is there something you need son?" Flint's voice was nervous, nothing like when he commanded Graveler. Graveler looked between his Trainer and his son and was visibly concerned. He knew that Flint went out to travel and become a top tier trainer. While he disapproved of Flint's action, he would still support him since that was his dream. He also knew that Flint needed to take care of those he was responsible for.

Graveler let Flint do his own things without thinking about the consequences. Graveler knew Flint need this slap to the face.

"Why are you here?" "I just wanted to sell rocks." "That's a stupid reason dad." "Well, maybe I am stupid and a coward." "You are."

Flint flinched at his son's words. No doubt knowing what he said was true.

"I-I-i- I wanted to come back. I failed to become a strong trainer. I wanted to support you. But what I did was horrible. I felt so ashamed."

"And selling rocks was going to fix anything?" "I wasn't planning on fixing. It was destroyed and I-I thought you would shun me."

"We only shunned you because you did nothing to get it back. Dad, we want you back and take some responsibility."

Flint didn't move. He and Brock stood there like rocks. Brock was looking at him, he was looking at anywhere but him. This went on for what felt like days.

Flint with everything that happened, all the things that he did, what he didn't do. He failed his kids, failed himself. After all that, did he deserve forgiveness? Did Brock and all his kids want to have him back? Brock was right, he did nothing to earn this their forgiveness, but maybe this was a start. A start that no men but insane would turn down. He could finally turn around.

Flint turned around to face Brock. Fully facing him Flint utter out, "Alright... Take me home." He was blessed to see Brock smile. A smile he didn't see in what felt like years, maybe it was. Now he could make up.

A chance for Brock and Flint.

Red now had a bandaged nose. His Pokemon were getting healed alongside Blue's. Red told him what happened in the Viridian forest. Blue could only scold him for letting down his guard against someone from Team Rocket.

But what Blue saw in Red's eyes was a fire, a fire he never saw. He didn't know what was going through his head, but it lit a fire under him like nothing before. Something clicked in Red's head. From a simple spark to a raging wildfire. He wanted to get stronger, Blue was taken aback by Red. Red had this passion that even Ash didn't have.

To say Blue was excited was an understatement. Beating Red would be sweeter.

Blue bid him goodbye before anything else happened, He left the Pokemon Center and decided not to sleep there even though the night was coming. He liked sleeping outside better anyway. Blue wanted to catch up to Green and surprise her in Cerulean. She had her own things going on. He wanted to he- hel- hel-.

He wanted to help her. Also, get ahead of her but no one needs to know that.

No doubt the others would want to help too. Red is her friend, so of course, he would want to help. Ash would help because he's Ash. He liked putting his nose in other people's problems. Now he needs to get ahead.

He was at the exit until he heard his name.

"Hey Blue!"

It was Brock that called out to him... while wearing a backpack?

"You going somewhere?" "Well, yeah. My dad is going to take over the Gym and care for my Siblings like a dad." Blue snickered when he said that.

"It's good he's taking seriously, but why the bag?"

"I was hoping you would let me travel with you." "What!? Why!?" Blue was surprised. Did someone want to travel with him? People called him Arrogant and beyond insufferable.

"Because you helped me. Even though you're kind of egotistical" "Hey!" "And a bit of an asshole."

"... That was mean."

"You're a good person and I want to help you." Blue raised an eyebrow at that. Gym leaders had specific teams to deal with trainers with different amount of badges. Those were Gym Pokemon, Not specifically the Leaders Pokemon. So they usually don't travel and stay with the Gym.

"And how can you possibly help me." "I want to be a Pokemon doctor. I have already trained in it, so I can heal your Pokemon and not go to the Pokemon Center."

"Deal. Alright, let's go." Having a healer in a pinch would mean saving time for more training and not going to the Center all the time. This means he can go ahead of the curve and stay ahead.

On their way out they made small conversation when Brock said something interesting. "I know a shortcut to get to Cerulean." "Short how?" "As not going to Mt. Moon."

Blue stared at him before a smile slowly creeping onto his face. "Show me." Brock ushered Blue with him to show the secret shortcut.

"Thanks for leading the way." "No problem, better help younger trainers get ahead." Ash was getting following an older woman who showed him the way from Viridian City.

Ash after getting prepared for his journey had his clothes, a dark blue backpack, hat with a stylized green L...or triangle-something, and Starly perched on his shoulder looking about. Professor Oak and he walked through Starly's moves. Discovering that Starly moves were startling. Starly didn't know his traditional moves like tackle and growl. He knew a move that only the Pikachu family knew. Volt tackle.

To say that brought some questions was a lie. Oaks eyes went wide and his jaw hit the floor. It was funny. those weren't the only moves that Starly knew. It knew some powerful moves. Steel wing, Double team, and agility. Of course, that didn't mean that Starly had the ability to do the attacks well. Another problem was that he also wasn't strong enough to do them without hurting himself.

So the first thing Oak wanted him to do was to build up Starly's strength so he could handle it.

What Ash didn't tell him was the Big rainbow bird. Ash was sure no one would believe him, so he kept his mouth shut. He trusted Oak, but this might be too out there and he would chalk it up to Ash hallucinating.

As Ash was walking to the mart to buy some more supplies he was interrupted.

The person who interrupted him was a lady with long black hair with bangs, she had dull purple eyes. She had a red turtleneck that cut off and turned black to her stomach. And long black pants. She had cool red boots.

Ash really liked the boots.

He heard some snapping and soon noticed the lady snapping her fingers in his face to gain his attention.

"huh? Yeah?"

"Finally got your attention. I have to ask, do you have something special in your backpack?"

Ash looked confused at first before his eyes lit up. He didn't share this with professor Oak since it seemed special and he would probably take it to research it. Since this woman somehow knew about this. She might make something of it.

"Are you talking about this?" Ash brought out the Rainbow feather. It glowed brilliantly and had a shine that would captivate anyone. At least that what was Ash saw in Sabrina's eyes. Her eyes turned from dull to wide and bright.

"Amazing... Where did you get this?"

"Where?... I found it." Ash looked away not so suspiciously. He was staring anywhere but the red-dressed lady. She only raised her eyebrow. He was a horrible liar.

"Yeah, I know you did, but where?" "...On the ground." "I mean the place." "... On the forest ground."

The lady in red looked miffed and annoyed before sighing, "We got off on the wrong foot, My name is Sabrina." She placed her hand in for a handshake. "Oh! I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!" Pallet Town? Home to the prodigious professor Oak. Pallet Town is in the countryside. So this kid is a country bumpkin.

"So, Ash where are you headed?" Ash was putting away the feather when she said that. Starly was training flying in laps. He should give him a treat later. "I'm headed for Cerulean."

"Cerulean? why not Pewter? That's the closest Gym." "Well, I was supposed to go at the same time as three others, but I was late. So I want to catch up to them."

Sabrina thought about before answering, "But then you would be at a disadvantage against the other three won't you be?" "heh, well I got a surprise for them." Not so subtly looking at Starly, Starly chirped excitedly and was ready to rock. Before realizing, "Wait! I need 8 Gym badges, dangit I guess we're going to Pewter."

Ash looked down at the thought of playing catch up again. They would be far ahead of him since it was already near dark. All of them were great trainers, They would beat him in practice matches every time. even Blue, jerk that he is. He would have to call his mom and let her know he's in Viridian City then get ready to sleep at the Pokemon Center.

Until Sabrina stopped his thoughts, "Well, you don't need 8 badges." "Really!" "You would need to go through the preliminaries first though. The 8 badges are basically skipping that stage. Plus you need 8 badges, and there are 10 Gyms." That surprised Ash. 10 Gyms? He only heard you would need 8 badges, so he thought there were only 8 Gyms. Huh, guess you learn something every day.

"So I can skip Pewter and go straight to Cerulean!" "That is possible. After all, Not all kids start at the same place at the start of their journey."

That made Ash happy, he could catch up to the others and show off. And maybe, just maybe get to be friends with them. Except for Blue, Blue sucked.

Present Time...

"By the way Ash, you don't have to be formal with me." "Really? A lot of adults would say I needed to treat them with respect. They were mean to me though for no reason. So they didn't deserve it." Sabrina stopped for a bit about what he said. "Wait. How old do you think I am?" "Your age? Well, I thinking... I am not answering." Ash shut his face and looked away as Sabrina stared at him.

"I won't get angry about this. This is nothing." "Mmhmm, that was what my mom always said before getting angry." "So you think I'm as old as your mother?" "Hrrk."

Ash hissed and was muttering, berating himself, "Stupid! Stupid!" "Well, Ash since your 10, your mom must be pretty old. Around 30-35 perhaps? maybe 39? She must have some wrinkles." "What! NO! My mom is young and pretty!" "oh, how young?" "29!" "So you think I'm 29?"

Ash had a blank pause. His face was blank slowly turning into realization into despair. He not only messed up, but he also screwed himself entirely. Sabrina might be telling the truth and she wasn't mad, but this was still embarrassing getting tricked so easily.

Starly was snickering at his friend's foolishness. Until he turned and Sabrina was staring into his soul with this curiosity that made him squawk.

Sabrina simply laughed it off. They both were easy to frighten and trick, this made things go her way much more easily. Sabrina seemed to be having fun and that made Ash happy. Even maybe she thought Ash was a bit of a ditz, she didn't admonish him. Nor did she think he was a burden, the way she was talking, it seemed to him that she was happy to talk to him for him, and not of obligation like a forced partnership school project.

As Ash walked beside her and Starly flying above her, he wondered how she knew this path from Viridian City straight to the entrance of Mt. Moon. Starly, now on Ash's head, was staring at Sabrina and swore that he saw her face somewhere. She looked familiar. But something was shrouding his thoughts. Both of them were lost in thought. Ash thought Sabrina was kind, he was a trusting kid. The kids of Pallet Town were mean to him, but he would always try to be friendly and nice. That rarely worked though. He didn't know what to do about that, but Sabrina was being genuinely kind to him like his mom, professor Oak, Daisy, and Red's parents.

Sabrina looked straight ahead, out into the clearing where they saw the mountain. What was once just rocks and dark corridors, now lay not a cave, but an open view for all to cross and go to Cerulean. With lush green trees and shrubbery after the cave top exploded. With rocky trails and cliffs, waterfalls, and streams. Pokemon that did not live in caves now made the new Mt. Moon their home. Cave dwellers, however, had to move into small pockets to keep up with the ever-changing environment. A lot of the mountain is off-limits due to the explosion being unknown, but they were able to make a pathway for all to Travel from Pewter to Cerulean. They grant safe passage to all.

"Hey, Sabrina?" "Yes, Ash?" "Do you know what happened to Mt. Moon? I know around 50 or more years ago there was a big explosion, but do you know what happened?"

Sabrina cupped her chin in thought. Even she didn't know why, nor did her partners in crime when they were together either. When they snuck off the path to explore, powerful pokemon like Nidoking and Kangaskhan had them run away. "No, I don't. Whatever it is, the Pokemon or thing that caused it would be gone anyway." She shook her head as whatever she thought was improbable. She had her arms crossed and looked focus trying to decipher the mountain itself. She wasn't paying attention to Ash and Starly at the moment.

She was so mysterious. So cool~. Ash looked at her. She looks constipated. Starly thoughts were that.

Now at the entrance at the mountain, they stopped at the Pokemon Center just nearby. Ash wanted to know something as he just realized.

"Sabrina. How did you know I had a feather?". They were sitting at a table eating dinner. Ash had some noodles and Starly was munching on some seeds. Professor Oak had a whole diet plan for Starly thanks to his unique moveset. Starly favorite seeds were from Vileplume. They sprung from their giant Flower on the top of their head.

"How I knew? Well, let me show you." Sabrina had a beverage in her left hand and some fried rice on her plate. She brought up her right hand so it was above her drink. Focusing on it while moving her hands, her eyes began to glow. That surprised Ash as he began to choke on his noodles. Her hand glow just like her eyes and her hair began swishing and swaying. The black hair began splitting into tentacle appendages. Her lemonade, rice, utensils, and small things around them began flying upwards and floating. They had a dull purple glow around them.

Sabrina used her psychic abilities "subtly" as there was only one other person here who was focused on her food and Pokemon. Who now began noticing the pair.

The psychic now placing everything back into place perfectly, from every grain of rice to the utensils in place they were before. It was like nothing happened, but the air around them changed completely.

"*Sluuuuuuuurp*." "*crunch* munch*." Both Ash and Starly were staring in amazement. Someone with actual superpowers. They didn't think anyone could do that. The world was amazing.

"Well? What do you think?" "Hu-huh? Oh. That was amazing!" "Even though that looked like a lot. It wasn't that hard for me." Ash had stars in his eyes while Starly looked concerned. How were there stars in his eyes?

"Can you teach me? Please?"

"... It's only for a chosen few."

"Awww." Starly sighed as his friend wouldn't get wilder. He looked at Sabrina and nodded that she made the right choice. As the normal energy started again they made small conversation. With Ash being more proactive and Sabrina reactive and answering questions. Starly sometimes butted in with a squawk as if answering or questioning. Sabrina was surprised that Ash somehow understood him and either gave his own answer or gave her the question. He didn't have any abilities yet understood his Pokemon better than most.

As they talked, the only person left in the cafeteria was watching them and trying slowly to see what they looked like. The pair was in a booth for a private talk. She only noticed them when things started floating with a purple dull. the girl thought she saw someone she knew.

So, She called out his name(?)

"Ash?"

Sabrina and Ash's head shot up when they heard someone call him. They saw a brown-haired girl in a black dress and white gloves. Her hair went just below her shoulders. She had a white messenger bag running from her left shoulder to her right hip. When both looked up and saw her, Ash's eyes lit up as he recognized her.

"Green!" Ash got up after he was done slurping his noodles and waved her over. He was excited he saw a familiar face, and on the first day too. It might be night and he didn't have any badges, but this was better than always looking at their backs.

Green was coming over, smiling at the fact that the other member finally started the journey. She stopped smiling once she saw that thing. Brown with black and white eyes, munching on seeds. It looked up curiously. Green was frozen at the sight of a bird Pokemon. Not wanting to stand and be awkward, she not so casually side-stepped to the woman's side and sat in a chair a bit further back. Green placed herself in a way that she can talk to both of them and put that bird Pokemon out of her sight.

"S-so, how are you doing?" The delivery was bad and weird, her voice was extremely nervous and her eyes were wandering everywhere. Sabrina raised an eyebrow at her nervousness. Green wanted to huddle up and disappear. "We're doing great! Starly and I met Sabrina. Oh! Sabrina, Green. Green, Sabrina." Ash gave a brief introduction since this was the first time Green meet her.

Ash was stoked that he actually caught up to one of them, albeit only in the physical sense. "Hello, you must be from Pallet." "Yes, around for 3 years" "You think?" "Yeah." Sabrina knew she was lying, not by intuition or psychology, but by reading her mind.

Ash said that Green was good at lying, something he could never do, good anyway.

"Professor Oak told me you chose Squirtle." "Yes, I did. His name is Blasty, here I'll show you." With that, she showed her left hand only to wave her around like a magician. She then moved her other hand in a grand gesture. She then moved her left hand across that briefly obscure Ash's view only for him to see a Pokeball in her hand.

"That's amazing! How did you do that? Are you a Psychic as well!?" Sabrina rolled her eyes as Ash was wowed by a party trick. Green had a smug smile, but her demeanor was nervous as Starly was on Ash's shoulder trying to figure out how she just did that, she could see the bird now.

"By the way, this is Starly, he's my partner. Say hello." Ash put his arm out for Starly to jump on. Starly fluttered to his arm while Green got a bit more nervous.

"Squawwwwwwwk!" "Eeeeeeeeek!" She shielded herself with her arms as Starly greeted her. Ash and Starly were still in their seat. Soon a bright flash of light came from the Pokeball in her hand and in front of her. Out came Blasty looking protective.

Blast puffed his chest and took a deep breath before letting out a stream of water. It went towards Starly and Ash's arm. Fast enough for it to have enough force, but slow enough for Ash's to yank his arm out of the way and Starly to fly up. He squawked angrily before he dove for the blue creature. He knew his normal attacks would be too much for him, so he settled for one of his other "attacks".

Right as Blasty readied another water gun, he choked on what he saw before his eyes. What was once just one brown bird, was now 20. no, 30.

Green felt trapped, Now felt claustrophobic as the many birds were piling up. All glaring at what felt like her. Starly and his illusions were glaring at Blasty.

Blasty was sweating as he bit off more than he could chew. He then looked back at his trainer, she was quivering and looking fearfully at the flock. This made him angry, his trainer was great. She was happy to be with him, she treated him like someone special. He never had that. She was smart, she was kind, and she was brave.

To see her now helpless thanks to this bird and his trainer made him angry.

Soon that anger grew to something more, and it changed him.

A bright flash of blue appeared around him as he felt him transform.

Gone was the small smooth and shiny head of Squirtle and now was a dark blue head with wings. His tail looked like waves in the ocean. Just by looking at his shell, you could tell it was sturdier and stronger. He let out a bestial roar that stunned both Sabrina and Green. He flung himself forward. Toward what he saw as the root of the problem.

Green was surprised. Blasty evolved. She thought it would've been sooner. She was taught about evolution and had many insights into it. She knew Pokemon could evolve in many ways. Squirtle was to evolve during a certain time in their life cycle. It was the same for Bulbasaur and Charmander. That certain time was about the cusp of strength for all of them.

This made her revaluate her knowledge of evolution. That man no matter how horrible was smart. He rattled on about how when most pokemon reach a certain 'level' they evolve. He treated everyone with coldness, even his Pokemon. Maybe this doesn't have anything to do with "Levels" at all.

She snapped out of her thoughts as Blasty, a wartortle, fling himself preparing a bite towards Starly. He didn't fling himself up, but straight. Her eyes widen when she realized who he was aiming for. Green tried to scream to warn him, but she coughed and hacked as something caught in her throat.

"Starlyyyyy! Calm down! He's only protecting Green!" He yelled up to the real bird. Out of all the illusions, he knew which one was Starly. He ran in front of the hoard.

"Calm down! He didn't mean it!" He knew Starly was listening as he saw the real one slowly and discreetly gliding towards him. It was stopped by a flash of white and blue. He looked to behind him and saw not Squirtle, but his evolved state... Soon enough he let out a roar before charging. Ash was awestruck.

He never actually saw one before this. It was amazing. Starly's screech took him out of his daydreaming. The Wartortle flung his body towards Ash. Ash tensed and froze as such an angry expression. The Spearow flock was one thing, them being together you couldn't see any of their faces. For wartortle, he was alone and you could see him entirely.

As the Wartortle flew towards him, he opened his jaw when it glowed with this dark energy and closed in. Ash finally moved when he realized that it was just between him and the Wartortle. He didn't want to hurt the Pokemon, but he was in danger as well. So, he did what he always did. When the kids back in Pallet took it too far. When Blue took it too far. His solution may not always work, but it did most of the time.

He readied his whole body, reared his hand, and clenched it firmly, he was taught how to hit back by his mother.

And twisted his body forward and punched with all his might.

Green looked distraught. Blasty's Pokeball was nowhere to be found. Must have rolled somewhere out of sight. She could only watch as Ash and Blasty were about to collide. Green Then forced her legs to move. Even though she wouldn't make it, she would be there to care for Blasty when this was over.

As Ash's fist and Blasty's Bite collided she sprinted towards them while trying to not pay mind to Starly. When she got there her eyes widened a bit at the sight.

Purple energy was outlining both of them. They were but a few inches from each other. Blasty's mouth was still glowing, but it was closed. It seemed he bit just a bit too soon. Ash's fist was stretched out to the fullest. Ash was also surprised, but he was mostly relieved as no one got hurt. Even in the dull purple energy, he relaxed fully. Blasty however, was tense. He was staring down a fist and his Bite wasn't to work anyway. Now he was held hostage by some psychic ability. He tried to look around to see if there was any Pokemon that was psychic with his eyes.

A lone woman stood instead.

She didn't look angry. She didn't look tired. She didn't even look interested. Stone-cold and impassive. Blasty was sweating with the way she was looking at him. Her eyes glowed with a focus on holding both of them, but she was clearly focused on him. Eyes calculating and were dissecting him. Blast got a bad feeling about her. She was dangerous.

This duo shall not come near his trainer. They were trouble.

"Blasty!" His body was then enveloped by a hug. The psychic powers disappeared. Sabrina wasn't didn't have any control over him anymore. Green was clutching him, even though he big now she could still wrap her arms around fully. She bowed to Sabrina.

Sabrina then let Ash go and his body almost went forward as his balance was off due to the punch he was going to do. He steadies himself before standing up. Starly then perched on his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry! I don't mean to scare you like that! I swear. It was my mis-" "It's okay." Ash bowed to Green for causing all of this mess. He didn't know Starly would scare her. He felt bad and wanted to show it. So he bowed and made Starly bow too. Green, while a bit frightened by the bird, held by and was calm. She was a bit angry with him. Scratch that, she was very angry.

But, he didn't do it on purpose. His apology was sincere as well.

"Just... warn me next time, or don't do it at all."

"Of course!"

"Well, I'm glad we got this settled."

They all looked back at Sabrina who had an unreadable expression as she looked at them. Green blushed a bit and turn away. Blasty glared at her. Ash flushed and scratched his cheek. Starly was looking at the ground.

"Sorry." Ash again apologized. This time to Sabrina for possibly wasting her time. He made a possible friend, yet he just messed up his chance, She probably wouldn't travel with him. Ash knew she probably had better things to do than go on an adventure with him. There was possibly no chance, to begin with. Sabrina did this because she was kind, wanting her to travel with him was selfish.

Another person that didn't like him, but this one with a good reason. He liked Sabrina, but now she didn't have reason to like him.

"Well, as long as your both fine. I guess we can pay it no mind. Does that sound good?"

"That's good for me," Green said.

"..."

"Ash?"

"Good for me too." He whispered before saying it again, just a bit louder. "Yeah, that sounds good Sabrina."

"We should all go to our rooms. We are all exhausted from traveling. Plus its already night. Better to wait until the morning to go again." Sabrina said with finality. Ash and Green both nodded. They all headed to their rooms with different thoughts.

Green was relieved nothing happened to Blasty. She heard Blue that Ash punches pretty hard. She didn't know how hard until she saw some small dents in trees.

No 10 year old had that kind of strength.

She was a still bit resentful, but she could work it out. She had bigger things to deal with. But... when Ash apologized he looked like he blew his shot. She did feel bad, but she knew it was his fault. Even by accident, but things would be better. He owned up to it. Now, she had to make some plans. She heard some rumors about Mt. Moon.

Ash had doubts about himself. That was only compounded by this. He made so many mistakes. His only friends were Starly and Daisy, Oak's granddaughter, and she was older by 5 years. Sometimes it felt like pity.

No, that wasn't fair to her. She was kind to him, not just nice.

It felt like he was messing up big time. From people to his own adventure, and it only the first day.

Ash slapped his cheeks with both hands before looking up, determined. He can't be thinking like this. He would become a Pokemon Master. And he would prove people wrong. But he also wanted someone to talk to. Starly was a great partner, but he had to interpret it. Usually succeeding, but sometimes it was tiring.

Now, Sabrina. She had her own things to deal with. Making her location known to her boss. What she was doing. She had to redirect her plans, after this discovery. The girl, Green, was once a henchman to the Masked Man. This changes things. Now she had thoughts about the kids of Pallet.

Ash had a feather from Ho-oh. This could mean a lot of things, he was the rainbow hero. Or just someone lucky, but he had that Starly, a powerful wild card. This couldn't be a mistake. The wing reacted to her psychic abilities. She knew from legends and talks with her "friends" that anyone would be burned if they were unworthy.

What did it mean to be unworthy, and what did it mean to be worthy. A random kid got the wing. He didn't look special, she didn't feel any powers coming from him.

She needed to change her plans. She couldn't just steal it. She lied about her psychic abilities. Sabrina lost a lot of energy by just sensing the Rainbow wing. She just had a good poker face. Sleeping would help recover her powers. Even though she had a Pokemon on her, gaining someone's trust just to crush them at the end was delightful. That boy was too trustful. He would go far, but only to be cut down.

Sabrina would do anything it takes. If she had to follow this boy to the ends of the Earth, she would.

Mt. Moon

Pikachu ran, he ran and ran. That Nidoking was violent. The Pokemon here had their own hierarchy. They made this after some humans with a big R came and started trying to capture them. They would drive them out every-time. They made his home off-limits. Serves them right. Trying to take his friends and family.

But the Pokemon then got into a heated argument. The last attack was much more devastating. Many Pokemon were injured, including his mother. A kangaskhan. She took him in, even when he made a mistake that almost cost him his and his brother's life.

He wanted revenge, a lot of them did. Then the Nidoking came along. One of their strongest. He convinced them to take this anger and fight back. Kangaskhan didn't want him to go, but he made up his mind.

He didn't know it would be like this. He thought that they would drive them out, just a bit more forcefully. To give them a message.

Pikachu could look away with what Nidoking did. The others tried to stop him, but he shook them off easily He went on a rampage. He was stronger than all of them, abnormally so. His electricity, of course, did nothing. But he had to something, anything.

And he was about to pay the price for it. This was the second time his life was in danger. The first time he was lucky that Mew came and saved them. No one would save him now.

Nidoking was looming over him. Like a mountain to a molehill. He was about to slam his purple fist into his yellow body. He closed his eyes.

Only for loud stomping and a loud *Craaaaack!* whipped by him. He opened his eyes at the sight.

It was Kangaskhan. His mother. And she slammed her fist into him. His brother ran over to him and they both hid for cover.

Nidoking recovered almost immediately and struck back. Kangaskhan delivered another punch. Nidoking punched back harder.

Pikachu and his brother could only watch this slug-fest play out. They wanted to help, but this fight between titans was so terrifying. They were scared, Their mom was strong, but Nidoking was abnormal. He wasn't just a normal powerful Pokemon. Something changed him. Kangaskhan was looking worse for wear with each punch.

Kangaskhan knew she was going to lose, but that didn't matter right now. Her sons were in danger. So, she powered on like there was no tomorrow.

Maybe there wasn't, but that is that, and now is now. She couldn't let them down. They needed to escape. She let out a roar that shook trees and the very ground before letting her fist fly at Nidoking.

Pikachu knew that roar. It was when she was angry with them when they did something bad. That roar was used when she wanted the two to stop fighting and makeup. It was the roar that made Pikachu want to do something, something that mom wanted. He bit his lip. Was this the right decision? Would he be proud of it? He looked towards his brother. His brother was scared. Pikachu knew he was the only one who could move out of both of them.

He carried his brother and ran.

He could only hope that something was coming. That something could save them from this.
