Pokémon: Pallet Town Heroes.

I just erased a lot of the story, oh my fucking god. Also, happy new year! I hope you guys are okay.

I don't own anything but the story.

Discussing with reviewers moved to the end.

Shorter chapter due to the new plan. Chapters will still be quite long though.

I'm really sorry It's only around 4,000 words. I can't do 10,000-words for each chapter.

It Seems That I'll keep chapters around 5,000 for the most part. 10,000 for the needed.

I hope you find this arrangement better because it's better for me in the long run.

Chapter 6: Step 2: End of the introduction.

Misty swiped her arm. "Lapras, Water Gun!" Lapras reared her head back, before thrusting it forward. A torrent of water was flung at Pikachu.

Ash pumped his arm forward. "Dodge it! Then use ThunderBolt!" Hearing his friend's command, Pikachu jumped into the air, dodging the Water Gun. He let lightning course through his body. "PikaaaaChuuu!" The lightning bolt ripped through the air. He landed on a different platform.

The Cerulean City Gym leader knew she was at a major disadvantage. There was no dodging. "Lapras, Protect!" Lapras, focused channeling energy in front of her, materialized. A green shield that flexed and stretched. Absorbing the Bolt of electricity.

That only made Ash beam.

"Pikachu, Double Team!" Multiple clones were summoned on all four platforms. Misty gritted her teeth at the sight, she had to remember that they couldn't actually hurt Lapras.

"Now, Swift!" Misty's eyes started to bulge as all of the clones flung stars at Lapras. How!? "Lapras, into the water!" She dove into the water, heading her trainer's command, and started bobbing and weaving between the stars.

A pink feline-like Pokemon who was secretly watching snickered at the sight.

Misty had an epiphany. "Lapras, Whirlpool!" Pikachu's eyes widen. The water on the battlefield started swirling and spinning. It got faster and faster. The platforms were being swayed and moving inwards to the center of it.

The Swift were all destroyed due to the currents. Ash had to think of something. "Thunder Bolt, again!" Pikachu and his clones sprung Thunder and Lightning into the water. Only to be blocked from the torrents, the force was too strong. Ash gaped at the sight.

Misty smiled. "Keep it up Lapras!" The water Pokemon accepted the praise. "Lift it! Make it narrow!" As the platform was going inwards to the center, the clones started being sucked into the Whirlpool. It was only a few seconds before only Pikachu was alone.

Ash was panicking. He didn't know how to deal with this. He could hear Pikachu struggling. He bit the tip of his thumb.

Sabrina's face was blank, showing no emotion.

Bzzt* *Bzzt*

There was something. It made Ash have hope. "Pikachu! Ride the lightning! Quick Attack!" Ash cried. Misty gasped. Sabrina had a contemplative stare.

Pikachu didn't know what to think. So, he acted.

Allowing himself to gather his energy, the adrenaline pumped into his heart and started to quicken his movements. He leaped from one bolt of lightning to the next. Jumping across each of them. Soon, he jumped out of the Whirlpool that was lifted into the air and on a platform that escaped it.

The final run. "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Pikachu, let out a battle cry. He started charging up. The lightning made him jitter and spike his movements. Misty and Ash started feeling the strength of it.

Misty was quick to act. "Throw it Lapras!" Lapras bent her neck backward, before throwing it forward. the Whirlpool was heavy, slow, and powerful. It flung and whipped platforms out of its form. Some hit the bottom of the pool-stadium. Others slammed into the bleachers.

"Hold it Pikachu!" Pikachu could only grit his teeth. The gathering of electricity was getting too much. As the Whirlpool got closer, he started looking back at Ash. When? When!?

Ash looked at Pikachu with his sense of confidence. His body was tense, his breathing slow, but his eyes were focused. Pikachu decided to believe him.

Closer. Closer. Closer. Now!

"Unleash it, Pikachu!"

"PiiikaaaaaaChuuuuu!"

Pikachu stood up on his hind legs. He spread his arms upward before slamming his front legs onto the platforms. The thunder ripped the air and struck the Tornado of water.

It cracked and sundered. The air blown back at the people almost made them fall. The attacks warped and wobbled. The thunder was gaining strength. the Whirlpool, however, didn't have anything to power it.

Ash's hat was blown back and his jacket was flinging itself everywhere. He blocked the water that was splashed onto him and out of the pool. He shut his eyes as the lightning started going bright.

Misty closed her eyes and blocked the water with her arm. The air made her suit chafed her skin, but that was ignored.

Ffff-wu-boooooooom

The thunder tore through the tornado of water and struck Lapras. She screamed as it ripped through her body.

Ash was blown back and fell out of his trainer box. Sabrina protected herself with her psychic abilities. Misty instantly curled up to protect herself from the explosion that rung their ears.

.

.

.

Dust settled in. Large amounts of it obscured the entire battlefield. Ash coughed as he stood back up. Seeing the dust cloud, he went to get back into his box.

Misty uncurled herself and slowly and steadily stood back up. Her breathing coarse and rough. That explosion was bigger than any she had seen. She couldn't see her Lapras.

"Lapras! Are you okay?" Misty cried out. No response.

Sabrina was able to sense the two Pokemon. Mumbling to herself. Her eyes glowed as she parted the dust clouded away. Allowing them to see the battlefield.

Pikachu was spent. He felt that he wasted too much energy. As he tried to stand, he faltered and let his body slam into the field, which had no water in it now.

Lapras was knocked out cold. The burns almost covered her entire body. She wouldn't be getting back up anytime soon. Misty sighed. "Return." Misty then brought the Pokeball to her lips so Lapras was the only one to hear. "You did great. I'm proud of you."

Ash climbed down the latter of the pool-stadium. He reached the bottom before running towards the down Pokemon. "Pikachu! Pikachu, are you okay!?" Ash grabbed The yellow mouse before carefully flipping him over to see his face.

Carrying him like a baby he climbed back up to his spot. "Hey, buddy. It's going to be okay. You did great." Pikachu let out a soft cry. He had a small smile on him, which Ash returned with of his own.

"Rest now." Ash returned his friend into his Pokeball.

Sabrina waited a bit before drawing their attention back to her. "Are both participants ready to send out their last Pokemon?" Getting nods from both trainers she proceeded. "Then begin!"

Ash threw his last Pokeball, "Kangaskhan, let's go!" The Pokeball shook before being opened. The large brown biped animal lt out a roar that reverberated the stadium and inside everyone's eardrums. The baby roared, too. Adorably, it wasn't heard.

Misty responded with her own, "Don't fail me now, Slowpoke!" Ash blanked at the pink Pokemon. It yawned without care. Slowpoke looked at him and Kangaskhan before resting his head on the ground.

One of Misty's veins bulged on her forehead. "Slowpokegetup!" Misty hissed. Groaning, Slowpoke got back up.

Ash got out of his stupor and tensed. He didn't want to underestimate anyone, so he readied for the fight. Kangaskhan imitated her trainer's movements and prepared.

They stood still, waiting for the other to act.

Ash made the first move. Thrusting his arm, "Kangaskhan, Mega punch!" Kangaskhan bellowed as she lunged. Her right fist glowed as she reared it back.

Closing the distance in that lunge. She stomped the ground, the empty pool floor, cracking it in the process. Planting herself, she punched. Gliding through the air, it was supposed to meet its mark.

"Protect!" Swoosh! A green barrier blocked Kangaskhan's punch. The barrier became a dome to protect himself. Slowpoke started sweating as he heard more cracking. He saw the pressure on the ground that Kangaskhan was putting on.

Misty only smiled. Ash was irked and looked at the battlefield more closely. What would she do? "Slowpoke, Yawn."

The pink Pokemon opened his mouth slowly. White air came out like clouds. It bobbed and bounced in the air. It was like cotton candy. Ash was having none of it.

"Get out of there Kangaskhan!" Hearing the command, she tried to backpedal to her original spot. She paled as her foot was stuck. Looking down, her foot that she stomped was deep into the ground. She probably shouldn't have done that. It was supposed to be a power move.

As the cloud got to her, the cloud separated and went into her mouth and nose. As it spread inside her body, Slowpoke spread his legs for his body to lay on the ground. His mouth opened in a derpy manner. It was mocking.

There was no way for Kangaskhan to get out of this, but to wait. Misty was pretty confident, too. Ash started biting his thumb.

Misty wanted to end this now. "Slowpoke, use Headbutt repeatedly!" Slowpoke yawned before getting back up. For the first time, tensed himself, and launched himself at Kangaskhan.

fwo-Bash

Heading straight towards Kangaskhans chest, He crashed into it without hesitation. The parent Pokemon stumbled as she got drowsy. Though she didn't fall, due to her foot being stuck and not being able to.

Slowpoke bounced back to his original spot. He tensed and lunged at her again. Another crash and he was at it again. Ash could only watch as Kangaskhan was bashed in and out.

He couldn't think of a way to get her out of this situation. He didn't think he had an item to awake Kangaskhan. He was useless. These thoughts started to invade his mind. His very first official battle was going awry. He never thought this how it was supposed to go, watching his Pokemon get beat while only being able to watch.

Maybe this was why Professor Oak didn't give him a Pokedex. Maybe the kids were right.

This first battle was not going his way. He knocked out one for trade against Pikachu, and now he couldn't even battle during the final round. What to do. What to do! His mom always said to calm down, but making himself calm would lose time for Kangaskhan. Ash felt opened and vulnerable like back home in Pallet.

He didn't even have his hat on now. It was blown away from the explosion with Pikachu.

Just then, he heard a strangled garble. Looking up, he saw Misty's face from across the battlefield. Misty then shouted at him, "Why is there a baby with you Pokemon!" Ash blanked.

Looking down to the bottom of the empty pool, where the two Pokemon were 'duking it out', he sawing something wriggle in Kangaskhan's pouch. He did a sharp intake of air. He started smiling when he found a way out.

Cupping both his hands in front of his mouth, "Baby Kangaskhan! Wake your mother up!" He shouted. That made Misty strangle down a noise that was coming up from her throat. Sabrina was waiting for this, Ash was a ditz sometimes.

To think he forgot that Kangaskhan was the Parent Pokemon. But then again, Misty didn't know either.

Bursting from his mother's pouch, Baby then scrambled up to his mother's face before slapping her. One. Two. Three times. Slowpoke could only stare.

Misty could only stare at the two Pokemon.

Slowpoke took a cautious step back when Kangaskhan's eyes opened like lightning. Like if it was closed for just a second before opening again.

Ash had to yell, "Are you okay?" The response was a nod. "Are you ready to continue?" This time a smile. Kangaskhan then turned her attention to the Slowpoke Gaining a vicious smile and gleefully excited when he took another step back.

Baby nuzzled her before returning to the pouch. Misty didn't want that, "Hey, is that even legal?" Ash looked at her, before giving her a shrug. Misty only growled before running a hand through her hair.

"Alright, let's finish this." Misty could only sigh. Today was stressful. She opened her eyes and glared onto the field. Slowpoke felt the sensation bore into his back. Groaning, he knew he had more work to do.

Ash ran a hand through his air before throwing it forward, "Kangaskhan, lunge!" Slowpoke's eyes widen, as his opponent crouched before rocketing towards him. She broke free of the cracked ground she dug herself in.

Slowpoke wasn't that far from Kangaskhan, so this was a bit much. Slowpoke felt that he messed up.

"Protect, Slowpoke!" Narrowing his eyes. The green barrier-dome appeared. This would protect him from any attack Kangaskhan. As she got closer, Slowpoke tensed.

"Stop!" Kangaskhan slammed her feet into the ground, stopping the momentum. Slowpoke stared. S-she wasn't going to do anything. Oh. He could feel the sweat on his head. Holding this barrier was making him tired.

Tired. Without energy.

It dawned on him. Finally, gritting his teeth, e looked back at Misty. Misty, realizing what Ash and Kangaskhan were doing, commanded, "Back away and Water Pulse!"

Immediately heading the command. The barrier disappeared in an instant. Backpedaling as Kangaskhan went forward. Opening his maw, water started to form in his mouth.

It quickly formed into a thin circle, before being blasted out of Slowpoke's mouth.

It sped towards Kangaskhan without a hitch. It came close to hitting her in the face. "Comet Punch!" Kangaskhan reared her fist back, also angling and pivoting her body for the Water Pulse miss entirely.

Her fist became bright as a star before she shot it at Slowpoke. Slowpoke felt his head and flesh absorb it. His mind went hazy. A critical hit to his head. He was gonna feel that tomorrow.

Misty swiped her right arm, "Protect, again!" Willing himself, he put up a smaller dome around him.

Kangaskhan gathers energy into both her arms before she started to wail on the dome.

One. Two. Three. The last one met the barrier, it created a dust cloud that swallowed the forms of both Pokemon.

Slowpoke didn't feel any more pressure being exerted onto the dome. He wanted this to end quickly. Droppin the barrier, he powered a Headbutt without Misty's knowing.

"SloooowPoke!" Clearing the dust, he launched himself at Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan shouldn't be able to see him as he rocketed towards her.

The dust parted. Kangaskhan was in the middle. With two glowing fists and a smile that got wider when she saw him.

Slowpoke paled as he surged forward. He couldn't see the glow. He heard his trainer, "Slowpoke No!" It was too late now.

Two repeated thrusts.

ffff-booosh

ffff-booosh

His head fluctuated from each hit. They slammed into his body, reverberating it down to his tail. He felt some teeth fly out. His eyes flew up. A thump as his body dropped to the floor. He was like a ragdoll that bounced off the floor like a rubber ball.

His tongue lolled out. Swirls in his eyes.

.

.

Misty looked on before sighing. "It's my defeat." With that, Sabrina called out the verdict. "With Misty having no Pokemon left, the challenger and winner are Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!"

Ash didn't move for a second. "Huuuuuuuuhh." He heaved. Dropping to the floor, he sat up with his legs splayed out. That took it out of him. He thought about his victory for a bit.

Sabrina simply huffed, crossing her arms and closing her eyes. He made mistakes, but he had potential, a lot of it.

A sudden burst of white light came from Ash's side. Staravia and Pikachu appeared right before him. "Pika Pi!" "Star Star!" They both rushed him and engulfed him in a hug. He was about to yell, but...

Wheeeee-Booooom!

Ash's body jumped. He landed on the floor roughly. He bit out a cry. "Wha-Woah!" He was picked up by two large arms and was pulled tightly to the chest of Kangaskhan.

"Hehe... Thank you, guys. We did it!" The three Pokemon celebrated, this was their first victory together.

This wouldn't be their last.

And with that display, he got up to walk to Misty.

"Congratulations, you were able to win," Misty said.

"Thank you. You fought amazingly!" Ash responded. He shook her hand with enough force to move her shoulders and head. He released her hand and she brushed it off.

"W-well of course I did! I'm the actual Gym leader. Not my sisters." She whispered the last part. Shaking her head at that. She brought out from her bag, a blue tear-drop. It was crystallized. It shined with beauty as a water Pokemon would.

Taking it and cupping it between his two hands. He looked at it with awe.

"Thank you, I'll take care of it." Misty smiled at what he said. "I know you will," Misty responded.

Ash then turned to Sabrina who was walking to the two of them. "I did it, Sabrina! I got my first badge!" Sabrina politely clapped. Misty registered what he just said.

Doing a spit take that surprised Ash (Sabrina was beginning to smile a bit smugly) she asked him, "This was your first badge!" Misty stepped closer to him.

He leaned back as she stepped closer. "Uhhh, Yeah?"

"And you didn't tell me!?"

"I thought all Gym leaders somehow knew how strong a trainer was when they came in?" Ash said like it was the most obvious thing. Misty sputtered. That was not how Gym leaders do things!

"Why would you think that?" Ash was about to say something but stopped. He looked at Sabrina, then back at her.

"...I'm not that smart."

Misty was despondent. She thought this boy would've at least beat the Pewter city Gym first. She heard from Brock that his father his taking over on their way to the Cerulean Gym.

"To think, I was beat using my old badge team against someone who didn't even have a single badge." She whispered. Pallet kids were weird. They weren't normal.

"...I think I'm gonna go now. Where are we gonna go next?" Ash said to Sabrina. She crossed her arms.

"Well, let's get prepared first, better not to rush things."

"Ok," Ash responded. Ash bid farewell to Misty, who took a second to respond. Sabrina followed after him, but not before using her psychic ability to find someone. There was someone else watching.

And now they were gone. They left after the match almost immediately.

Wonder where they were now.

Blue was walking to the Pokemon Center. His lips were pursed and his hair was obscuring his eyes.

To think, Ash could do something like that. The fight made him think.

He had one more rival.

No...a nuisance. How could someone like Ash get so strong in so little time? It wasn't that Blue thought Ash could beat him in a pokemon battle. No, of course not, why would he think of that. It was absurd.

To be a Pokemon Master—bah! That idea was nothing. Not even real.

He was going to keep this to himself. No way would he tell the other on what conspired at the gym. Though, Green probably already knows how Ash has gotten.

Now, he tried to get rid of these thoughts. He needed to focus on himself. What was his plan? He was at a major disadvantage. He would need to train Charmeleon and Gible to the strongest they could be now. Maybe he should invest in a grass-type or an electric.

As he made his way to the Pokemon Center to meet up with his friends, his mind was occupied with what to do. Bring his pokemon with a held item. Maybe if he could find leftovers, this would make the plan better.

He could just rely on his old man.

Blue smacked himself on that notion. He wanted to get away from his reputation and build his own.

Finally getting to see the red roof of the center, he went in. Asking the nurse where a guy in a red jacket was, she pointed to the cafeteria.

Really? They just ate.

Walking briskly to the cafeteria, he found them gulping noodles.

"You guys are always the glutton, are you not?" Red and Green froze at the voice, Red both turned to him with a guilty smile.

"Sorry for not in-viting you?" Red said, his hand now on the back of his head. Green was still gulping noodles down.

Blue sighed at the girl, "You guys left and hung out without me, and now you have the audacity to still slurp noodles down?"

Green swallowed the noodles before responding, "Welllll, I thought you would've challenged Misty and that we still would have time to get back." She said so innocently.

Letting himself crash down on a seat next to them, he rested his body by leaning it back to the top rail. He gave a big sigh to release the exhaustion. It seemed he got tired by thinking.

Green caught the sigh. Putting down her bowl, "Is something wrong?" She said putting a fist to her cheek and resting it on the table. She only ever saw Blue act like this when he had a lot of homework, or something that Ash did that involved him.

Blue looked at her before closing his eyes and letting it hang upward. "Nothing." He lied. Watching two battles was enough to drain him. He needed more stamina.

Green wanted to push further but instead decided to read his face and posture. There wasn't much to get at, but the frustration and tiredness from his features meant fatigue and annoyance.

"..."

"? Is there something on my face, Green?"

"No—but there is something actually bothering you. I can see it on your face."

"It's nothing you need to worry about."

"Really?"

"Really."

Green gave him a hard stare. He didn't flinch at that. She could only let go of it right now, but this wasn't over. Her friends and family made up her world, she couldn't bear to see them in turmoil.

Sluuuuuuurrrrrrrp.

They both looked to Red, who had the decency to look apologetic.

sluuuuuurrrrp

Only look apologetic anyway.

He burped after it went down his throat. They both gave him a playful disgusted look. Well, Green did. Blue was only disgust.

"Now that that's over, who's gonna challenge the gym next?"

"First off, where's Brock?"

"He's off helping nurse Joy. He told he wanted to become a Pokemon doctor"

"I see."

"Yeah, anyway. Who's next?"

Green raised hand, which the elbow was still firmly on the table. "I should probably go first, Only one of my Pokemon is weak to hers, And I'm confident enough to be able to maneuver out of her strategy to win."

Blue let out a whistle. "That's some confidence."

"Say's Mr. Arrogant."

"That makes me happy."

"Of course it does."

Red set it back on track. He turned it to Blue, "And what about you."

"I'm gonna train my Pokemon. I'm at a major disadvantage, unlike the two of you. Get them strong enough to power through any challenge."

"...You're sound a lot like me now. What, are you copying me~"

"Shut it, Red. Not a lot of Pokemon interest me in the area, so I just have to power through."

"Why not get Pokemon from the ranch. We've all been catching Pokemon for your grandpa, so why not train one up before returning it to the ranch?"

"..."

"..."

"What? Why are you guys staring at me like that? It's creepy." Red said.

Blue turned to Green, laughing. "Who knew Red could be smart and think of a plan?"

"Wha-Hey! Just because one plan didn't work doesn't all my plans won't!"

Green didn't know what they were talking about, but it seemed Red messed up while she was gone. She smiled at the two. "I know, Red can only think about battling that he's only knowledgeable about fighting."

"Guys, I'm not that dumb!?... Stop laughing. Seriously!"

Blue already felt better. Best to stop thinking about what happened, he'll just have to get stronger and beat out everyone as he planned.

Ka-KRACK

The peaceful atmosphere dropped. All of them looked at the entrance where they heard the crash. It sounded like glass breaking. They didn't move a muscle, trying their hardest to strain their ear to hear more. It could be serious?

.

.

.

.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

Bz~BZZZZZT

VRRRR-RrRruuuu...

the lights shut down. The scream rattled their ears. Red choked on his food and Green started to look around. Blue was already on his feet, Pokeball in hand, and looking at the door for any burst.

Red stood straight as a rod, making the table fall along with their food.

He started to briskly stomp his way to where Nurse Joy usually was, only to be stopped by Blue.

"Blue what th-"

"Shut it. We don't know what's beyond that door. It could be anything. Nothing like this happens often."

"But someone screamed! They need our help!"

"You're right, but walking like you own the place isn't going to help; we need to see the situation and not be reckless!"

"..."

They didn't realize Green was already at the door. Slowly creeping her way to poke her head out and not make a sound. The situation was bad already, she needed to get them out of this pickle.

Her danger senses blared as she heard fast footsteps coming close to the door.

...BOOOM

She launched herself backward to dodge the door which threatens to fly off of its hinges.

She stopped her momentum by firmly planting her feet to the ground and a hand in front of her.

"Green!"

"Green, are you okay!"

Red and Blue ran to her, they stopped arguing to assist her. Whatever made that noise took second priority, and the first was their friend; They didn't see who came casually walked into the cafeteria.

Green snapped at them, "I'm fine! Look!"

They both turned to the door.

Red's eyes widen, before furrowing as a fire raged in between them. His brows furrowed and his lips went into a snarl.

Blue's face got progressively colder as he saw the man in black. He squeezed Charmeleon's Pokeball harder.

Proton had a lazy smirk on him as he pompously walked in with his goons. Each step made him look like he was gonna fall, but he didn't.

That smirk turned into a gleeful sneer as he remarked, "If it isn't the two pansies that got their asses saved."

"Why are you here!? What happened to nurse Joy!?" Red couldn't stop himself from shouting. The red R mocked him the more he looked at it. He grew more furious as he was met with a look of contempt.

"Oh? I don't know, you need to ask the guy with closed eyes."

Blue tilted his head downward. Whatever this man did to Brock, he was going to suffer two-fold.

Green brought them back, "Focus, don't let him get to you." even as she said that her limbs were tense and her eyes filled with no small amount of hatred.

Proton frowned at the girl, she wasn't fun. "Oh, and who the hell are you?"

"I don't tell my name to garbage." She bit out. "Get ready, We'll give you everything we got." Her voice grew wrought with cold. Eyes dull and void. Green was ready to battle and conquer.

Red and Blue got ready as well.

"Pika!"

"Blasty!"

"Charmeleon!"

POP!

All three Pokemon burst out and landed with a loud THWOMP.

Charmeleon snarled at who he saw. It was a runback.

Pika looked at the R. Electricity surged off of him.

Blasty roared. Whoever stood in his trainer's way would be obliterated.

Proton looked at all three... before smiling. He propped his hat downward so they couldn't see his eyes.

"Good. Goood. Goooood. It won't be fun if I don't destroy you so easily." He slowly showed his animalistic eyes that glowed a vicious hue of blue. This was gonna be fun.

Reader: Thank you, kind person. I hope it's to your satisfaction.
