From behind him, the Russian guy stood webbed up. He knew he defeated the enemy, and now stood out to face the civilians of New York City.

He had done it. He had won.

He could sense that something was wrong, but he ignored it. He was way too caught up in the moment to do anything about it.

He got his tingle. But before he could do anything, a loud bang ran through the air of Manhattan.

Everyone around him began to freak out, including him.

His mind placed him in a trance where he scanned the streets to see who had shot the gun, and who had maybe been shot.

His ears muffled the sounds around him, but he could see people rushing through the streets trying to get away from the scene, where he stood.

He knew something was very wrong, when people began to look at him with panic and fear.

He felt something dripping down his back.

He looked to the sky to see if it was raining, and he looked to the nearby buildings to see if something was leaking.

He reached his hand to his back, where he felt the slimy metallic liquid. It was red. It was blood.

"Who's blood is this?" He asked himself softly.

Then a wave of realization set in. It was his. He had been shot.

"No, no, no. This can't be happening not today." He said to himself

Today was the day he was graduating, and the day that gwen was going ti do her speech.

His head began to grow heavy, and he felt tingling in his fingers and his toes.

He saw flashing lights, and people rushing over to him, as he fell to the floor.

He felt cold hands touching the gsw on his back.

His hearing hadn't gotten better, and got much worse, as he felt his head seem heavier and heavier.

"Honey, I need you to keep your eyes open, okay." One of the paramedics said

He didn't realize that his eyes were slowly shutting and his vision becoming hazy. He didn't realize that his mask was off, revealing Spider-Man's true identity.

He felt a throbbing pain in his chest, and breathing hurt, really bad.

Gwen. He totally forgot about his graduation. He totally forgot about his girlfriend. He was supposed to be there, not getting on an ambulance.

"Honey, can you tell me your name?" One of the paramedics asked him.

"Peter Parker." He replied softly.

"Peter, is there anyone I can call for you, anyone? Family?" The paramedic asked

"Gwen." He responded

"Gwen. Gwen who?" The paramedic questioned

"Gwen Stacy. His girlfriend." The other medic responded.

Peter felt completely drained, and used the last of his strength to hand his phone to the medic.

His breathing was irregular, and the doctors took note of it.

"Peter, your lung is collapsing, and we need to place a chest tube okay?" One of the medics asked

Peter looked to the medic, and nodded. His eyes were dripping tears.

The medic moved his left arm to be above his head, and began cleaning the skin above his on top of his rib where it would be placed.

One of the medics came over and held the scalpel to the skin, while the other medic held peters hand.

"It's going to hurt honey, are you ready ?" She asked

When Peter nodded, the medic went ahead, making the incision.

He screamed out in pain, as the skin above his ribs was sliced.

"I know Peter, I know, it's almost over." The medic assured him.

Once the incision was made, the emt grabbed the tube.

"Peter, this is going to be the worst part, but we need to do it okay, we need to do it to help you." The medic said

Peter winced and blinked away his tears, before he nodded.

The doctor clasped the tube and shoved it through the incision into his lung.

Peter's screams became muffled as the tube made it into his lungs. He could breathe slightly better, but the pain of the cuts and wounds burned. The blood from his lung cavity drained, as he felt himself growing lightheaded.

The last thing he remembered was doctors yelling about his dropping stats, as one of the medics placed a mask over his face, as the breath from his lungs dissipated, and his vision went completely dark.

"Charge to 150!!" One of the paramedics yelled, as the other held paddles to Peter's bare chest.

His body jolted up, at the shock, as the medic looked to the monitor. His heart was beating again.

"Tube, please." One of the medics ordered, as the other gave the tube to the other.

The medic stuck the tube down Peter's throat, as they placed an iv, and began to use the bag, to breathe for him.

"Peter where are you?" Gwen asked herself as she looked out into the crowd and he wasn't there.

She looked to peters aunt, who was also looking around for him.

"Peter Parker." The announcer said

She didn't see him. He didn't come up.

She could feel her face become hot and red.

"Is Peter Parker here." The announcer asked

No one responded

"Where are you Peter?" She asked herself again.

"Okay, then moving along."

Gwen kept on looking for him, but she couldn't see him, and had to focus on the ceremony.

When the ceremony ended, she went out in the crowd of families to find Peter's aunt.

As she got closer, she saw that peters aunt was looking for him too.

"Gwen, have you seen Peter?" May asked

"No. Have y—" Gwen asked, before her phone rang.

"I have to take this one, sec, it's Peter." She said

She picked up the phone and held it to her ear.

"Peter where are you?" Gwen asked

"Hello, is this Gwen Stacy?" The voice asked

"Yes this is she." Gwen responded

"Hi, I am an emt. Peter Parker, has left you as one of his emergency contacts." The emt said

She felt her chest completely tighten and her face turned to shock. She completely thought the worst.

"While fighting a criminal in the streets, Peter Parker was shot."

"Is he okay?"

"We're almost to the hospital with him, but he is currently intubated, but he's alive. We're headed to New York general hospital."

"Yeah, okay, his aunt and I will be there soon." She said as she hung up the phone.

"Who was that?" May asked

"It was someone saying, that Spider-Man was shot."

"Oh. That's horrible." She said

"May." Gwen said sadly.

May looked at her, as everything started to click.

"Peter?" She asked

Gwen looked at her with eyes that told her everything.

Her Peter. Her baby. Her boy. Was Spider-Man.

He had faced dangerous criminals everyday, without her even having a clue.

All the nights he was out late, he was out saving everyone.

Peter was hurt, and now she couldn't do anything to help him.

Gwen and May both felt helpless. The person they loved the most had been shot.

Gwen just thought about Peter. And how he was feeling. She knew that when he missed the graduation, that something was wrong, she just never expected it to be that big.

She just couldn't think about how much pain he was in and that her Peter had his chest open in an operating room right now.

"May, we need to go. I just have to tell my parents."

Gwen walked over to her family, who were all upbeat and happy.

"Come on Gwen, family photo!" Her mom said happily

"Mom, I can't I have to go to the hospital." Gwen said

"Why?" She asked

"It's Peter, he's been shot, and I, I need to be there for him and his aunt."

"Oh, that's horrible, you go ahead sweethart. Let us know how he is." Her mom said

"Okay, thank you, love you bye." She said to her mom before she walked away to join may in the car.

They arrived to the hospital and ran for the receptionist, who told them that he was in surgery, and when he got out, he'd be in the icu.

They wanted to know how we was, but they had no clue how he was doing, or how bad it was.

It would be a long day, of waiting. And a long day of stress and fear.

Gwen sat beside may, as they waited.

"He's going to be okay." Gwen said

"Yeah." May responded

"He has to be. He's our person." Gwen said, as may smiled at her before she looked back down to the floor.

Gwen kept on thinking about Peter. And if Peter was okay.

"Anyone here for Peter Parker?" A doctor called

Gwen and mag both go up and followed the doctor back to a room.

They sat down, at a table.

"Hi, I'm doctor Marks, I was the surgeon on Peter today."

"How is he," may asked

"He's stable. And he's out of surgery. The bullet perforated part of peters left lung, and damaged the other, we were able to repair the damage to his lungs. His ventricle to his heart was nicked, but we were able to repair it. We had to break 4 of peters ribs, in order to save him, but he is alive."

"Thank you." May said

"Can we see him?" Gwen asked

"Yes, but he will be sedated for a while, so that his lungs can heal." The doctor said

Seeing Peter for the first time, was heartbreaking. He had so many wires all over his body, and a tube sticking out of his mouth, that breathed for him.

He was now in a hospital gown, with the blanket covering half his body.

He had cuts on his face and neck. He looked pale, and had transfusions to replenish the blood he had lost.

Gwen went over to him and sat by the chair beside him with his hand in hers.

Aunt May took one look at him, and tears fell from her eyes.

"Gwen, I'm going to go get something from the cafeteria, I'll be back"

"Okay." Gwen said

She turned back to Peter, who's chest rose and fell in beat with the clunking of the ventilator.

"Hey, peter." She said, finally able to get her words out.

"You need to fight for me. Okay? The world is not the same without you, and I don't ever want to have to live in a world without you." She said.

She put her hand on his bandaged chest.

"Oh Peter." She said

"I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm sorry that I couldn't be there for you. I'm sorry that they did this to you, you don't deserve this." She whispered.

She was expecting some type of hello back, but the only thing that responded was the monitor showing his weak heartbeat in the background.

"It's going to be okay. It's going to be okay." She assured him. Her herself needed to hear that he'd be alright. Today was supposed to be a happy day, but now all that she could think about was wether or not she was going to lose the person that she loved.

She looked down to his eyelids, that protected the thing she loved most about him. They protected his eyes that showed all his happiness, all his fear, all his determination, and love, and the glisten that came over them when he was with Gwen.

She just couldn't stop thinking about how, now he was hurt and she couldn't do anything to help him.

She just wanted him to wake up, and she wanted to tell him how much she loves him.

She wanted to tell him that he was her person, but she couldn't right now.

She had to be patient, and wait for him to wake up, but she didn't want to wait, she just wanted him to wake up now.

His face looked pale, and his body was completely motionless, which was unlike what Peter was normally like. He was normally happy and charismatic, but now he was still and broken.

She couldn't help but let more tears fall down her face, as she felt his cold skin touching hers.

It didn't even feel like it was him. It felt like he was a ghost of what he normally was. The life inside him was gone.

She took her hand and brushed it through Peter's hair.

"It's going to be okay. We're all gonna be okay." She said

"We graduated today, Peter." She said

"Yeah, I did my speech and everything. You are second in the class, and they announced that, but you weren't there. Everyone knows that you're Spiderman now, and it's not that bad. Everyone thinks you're a hero." She whispered again

"When you wake up and get better, they'll let you graduate and everything, but just focus on getting better."

"Just focus on healing, and focus on being Peter Parker."
