May sat by the edge of Peter's bed, with his hand in hers, soaking in the last minutes she had, before she had to leave for her shift.
"Peter. I don't know if you can hear me, but I need you to come back. Come back to all of us, we all love you so much. I know, that it hurts, I understand that, but I need you to fight, I need you to fight for me, okay?"May whispered softly
"Everyone in NYC is behind you Peter, and we all want you to be okay. Please start healing." She pleaded.
She sat in silence observing the wires connected to Peter, each preventing him from dying, the most prominent was the one that without it, he wouldn't be able to breathe.
She heard knocks at the door, that interrupted the silence in the room.
"Come in." May summoned, as the door slowly creaked open.
Standing behind the door was Gwen, who held scrapbooks, and other stories in her hands.
"Hey, Gwen." May greeted, as Gwen stepped through the door.
"How is he?" Gwen questioned with concern, as she looked to Peter, who still lay unconscious in the bed in front of her.
"He's the same, honey. Once his lungs start to heal, we can start to wake him up, but he hasn't yet." May spoke solemnly
Gwen walked over to his bed, and grabbed one of his hands, and cradled it in hers.
"I'll be back in to check on him in a little while, but if anything happens, just page the nurses, okay?" May added, as Gwen still looked down to Peter. When she nodded, may went over to Peter and kissed his forehead once more, before she headed out of the door, leaving Gwen alone with Peter.
Gwen walked around his bed, and sat down on one of the chairs beside him.
"Hey Peter." She said softly as she gently placed her hand on his chest, "It's Gwen, I'm here." She told him, as she reached down and grabbed a scrapbook.
"I've had a lot of time to think Over the past three days, and the only thing I've thought about is you. Peter, I made a scrapbook of all our memories, and I brought it here." Gwen sighed.
She opened the book to the first picture.
"This photo, was at the my house. That was when I found out that I liked you, peter." Gwen said
She expected a response, but she was reminded that he was still intubated.
She flipped to the next page. "This photo was us at the bleachers, that was when we started working, and when I got to know Peter Parker and Spiderman."
When she flipped to the next page again, it was her and him at OSCORP, "This was a photo, where I knew that you were smart but also caring and kind, and that you were amazing."
Gwen flipped through the pages, as all their memories came back so vividly to her.
The final page, made her heart stop in her chest.
"This is a photo, of this room." She murmured, "Because, not all memories are happy, but it was from this day that I knew that I loved you, and that is do anything for you.
She flipped through the empty pages of the scrapbook.
"These pages are empty, because we still have so many more memories to make, Peter." She said. Gwen looked down to his face, where his eyes were closed. Usually, he'd be smiling, and laughing, but now he looked like he was sleeping.
"It's all going to be okay" she assured him, "Im with you."
She stayed in that moment, for what seemed like hours, just looking at him, as their memories danced through her head.
From the night that she found out he was Spiderman, to the night he got hurt, or the night before the accident where they stood on top of the Empire State Building where they looked out at the sunset.
Her reality hit her like a freight train.
She could hear an unpleasant gurgling noise, coming from Peter.
Her eyes wandered to his face, where she could see his mouth covered in red.
In panic she smacked the call button, and squeezed Peter's hand.
Nurses soon flooded the room, and began to assess Peter.
One of them was may, who immediately ran to Gwen's side. Gwen had tears running down her face, as she watched the events unfold in front of her.
"What's happening?" Gwen asked, as may hugged her tightly.
"Blood from his lungs is coming up, they just need to get it out."
Gwen could hear a splash, as red liquid hit the floor.
"It's done now Gwen, he's okay." May assured her
"Was that a bad thing?" Gwen asked
"We don't know yet, honey, the doctor has to come in and ultrasound his chest, to see what happened." May said
Gwen nodded, and turned back to Peter, who's face was being wiped off by a nurse.
She walked closer to him, and sat by him, with his hand in hers.
"Gwen, he might go in and out of consciousness, it's hard to say, but it is possible." May told her, as she nodded.

The doctors came in and ultrasounded his chest.
"Everything looks good." The doctor said
"What happened?" May asked
"His lungs, are starting to heal, so the tissues are just getting back to normal." The doctor observed.
"Healing?" May exclaimed
"Yes, he should be able to get off the vent soon, if his lungs heal quickly."
"That's great, thank you." May expressed
"No problem." The doctor said happily, as he exited the room.
"Gwen, honey" May said
"Yes." She responded
"Peter, he's healing, so they are going to monitor it, and if it heals fast, he can get off the vent within a few days." May announced
"Really?" Gwen asked
"Yes, honey, he's gonna be alright." May assured her
"Okay" Gwen said
"Honey, I have to go to other patients, but I'll be back soon again." May told her.
"Okay." Gwen said
When May left the room, Gwen leant her head down and cried into peters bedsheets.
"Peter, I need you to come back to me, okay." She pleaded, "I need you. Okay, I need you Peter. I love you so much."
