"You know, for a demon, I really thought you'd be more subtle sneaking up on someone," Dante hummed, his eyes shut and arms crossed behind his head as he leaned back in his desk chair, ever the relaxed cat.
Trish merely huffed as she walked out of the shadows, a hand on her hip. If he could act cocky given their situation, then surely she could too. "Now where would the fun in that be?"
"Hm, true," he said, not bothering to try and stifle a yawn as it escaped from him. She rolled her blue eyes at him. He flashed her a blind smile in return.
"Do you think that it's a good idea?" she asked, sitting on his desk, her own legs crossed at the knee in contrast to his at the ankle.
"Let me guess, you're talking about the noble brats?"
"The Sanguinem twins, yes. And to be fair, I think they might be older than you. Demons age differently you know."
Dante merely shrugged his shoulders. She, in turn, shook her head. She never understood how he was able to act so casually one minute and then turn into a slaughterer of demons within the next.
It was unsettling, yet oddly calming.
Unlike his twin, Vergil, who could barely keep his temper under control on a good day, unless that somehow meant him getting something for it. The two brothers were so contradictory to each other that she often wondered how they had been as children, back when they could be carefree before reality came to smack them awake.
She would have felt sorry for them if her sympathy didn't come across as an insult to them.
"Did you talk to Vergil about it?"
"Nope. He would have just called me an idiot for trusting them and told me to kill them or he would try to get them on his side to try and conquer something again."
Trish nodded. That sounded about accurate enough.
Do you really think that they're here to help? They are purebloods after all."
"Can't say. To be honest with you, I wasn't all that sure you were really on our side when you first joined either."
Trish blinked. He had never told her that, but then again, Dante wasn't the most transparent male to be around. These days it felt more like Nero was the only male with demon blood that could be honest with how he felt about things. Lady would have taken it as an insult though.
If it had been anyone else, she would have asked them on their current opinion about her, but she knew fully well that if Dante was still suspicious of her, she would have been kicked off the team long ago. The fact that she was still allowed inside of Devil May Cry was proof enough of his trust.
Smiling to herself, she leaned over and kissed the side of the white haired male's head like a sibling. She never had any siblings of her own but had always felt that if she could have chosen her DNA relations, she would have chosen no one else but the Devil May Cry crew.
" Night Dante," she whispered as she got off the table and headed for the stairs. He didn't respond as he slipped off to his own dreams for the night.
