Hi everyone, welcome to another chapter. So I told a week off of this mostly because I was exhausted and lost the energy to do this. But after some thinking, I decide to continue because I like where this is going.

So I'll keep posting new chapters, but not a frequently as before.

Now with that out the way, hope you enjoy this chapter and sorry if I wasn't about to answer any questions.

THE BLIND SWORDSMAN

CHAPTER 5

Asta was standing tall, with his katana on his right shoulder while Sekke was face down on the floor. Everyone was talking about the battle that just occurred.

"He... He won?!"

"And he did it so fast."

"Did he said something about him being blind?"

"He's blind and he won?"

"Was that magic he was using?"

Asta kept smiling as he manage to get the crowd talking. He then put away his sword and walked back into the crowd while the medical mages went to go pick up a knocked out Sekke.

Now with the captain, they were impressed by the 'fight' has ended. This got Fuegoleon, Yami and Nozel talking.

It was Yuno's turn to fight. While he was waiting, a noble by the name of Salim Hapshass walked up to him and volunteered to become his opponent. He said some things about how Yuno's a commoner and how he is superior by his noble status. Everyone was worried as they knew that social differences between the two fighters.

Asta on the other hand was not worry. All he did was sense Yuno and Salim to know how this fight will turn out.

The mage between them said begin and walked away from the ring. Salim said something about how battling him was a great honor for someone like Yuno and opened his grimoire.

Lightning Magic: God of Lightning Rising Salim

Salim created a large ball of lightning. The mana was intense, and the people in the crowd was shielding their eyes from the bright lightning, in awe about the amazing display of magic while the magic knights just sat there in their serious expressions. Salim was laughing about the 'victory' he's about to get and launched the big attack at Yuno. Yuno's mana started to activate, which made Asta make a big smile across his face.

Wind Magic: Towering Tornado

Yuno responded by created a tornado, destroying Salim's spell and launching Salim back, making him the victor of the match. He then walked back to the crowd and stood next to Asta. As Yuno watched the other battles, Asta decided to sit down and do some sensing. Asta saw a lot of people's mana and their flow. Most of the flows were showing nervousness, except for a few. Yuno's was as calm as ever, Sekke's was showing anger and most of the captain's was focused, except for Yami's.

After all the battles was complete, William stood up.

"Now that the exam is complete, it is time to decide which magic knight squad you will be joining. When your number is called, step foward. If someone raises their hands, that means you join that squad, if multiple raises their hand, you have the choice to choose the magic squad." William stated.

"However, if no one raises their hands then you'll have to leave and try again next time." Charlotte added, which made some of the people surprised that they might have another chance to try again.

The guy who gave everyone their numbers called them out. Not many people have gotten chosen by the magic knights, which has let them pretty down. But some was chosen by the magic knights. What surprised Asta the most was that Sekke was chosen, after the performance he gave.

"Number 164."

Yuno walked up and to everyone's surprise, had all of the magic knight captains raised their hands. Yuno stood there thinking about which path to choose if he wants to become the wizard king.

"It would be a honor to join the ranks of the Golden Dawn." Yuno answered. The Golden Dawn leader smiled as the crowd was surprised that the Golden Dawn was letting a commoner join.

"Number 165."

Asta walked up and waited for their hand to raise. Fuegoleon, Nozel and Yami finished their conversation and before Asta was told to leave to the ring, Yami raised his hand. Asta stayed calm but in the inside, he was cheerful that someone has chosen him.

Later that day, Asta was standing outside of the arena with Yuno.

"Well, this is it Yuno. I'm a Black Bulls and You're a Golden Dawn."

"Let's see which one of us will win, shall we?"

Yuno walked off and Asta started to head to Captain Yami until he was stopped by someone. That someone was the new recruit for the Green Mantis, Sekke Bronzazza. By what Asta sees from his energy, Sekke wasn't happy about something.

"Hi there. Are you mad?." Asta said to Sekke.

"Mad? Of Course I'm Mad! It's because of you that I got put on one of the lowest squads." Sekke responded angrily. "Do you know how insulting that is?!"

"Hey, can you stop with the ego and show some gratitude? At least you got picked for a squad, which can't be said for some of the participants." Asta stated at Sekke.

"Whatever, It's not like you would understand. Lets see how you like when your dream is ruined."

Sekke opened his grimoire and a blue lizard composed in bronze emerged from the grimoire.

Bronze Curse Magic: Sekke's Poison Lizard

"Lets see how you like it when you're stuck in bed for the rest of your life, Ha Ha!"

The lizard started to crawl towards Asta. Asta reached for his grimoire but he then sense a force of mana coming from the right. The mana force got closer until it collided with Sekke's lizard, destroying it. While Sekke was startled by his lizard being destroyed, they both turned to who drew that force of mana. While Asta sees a aura that was cheerful and energetic, Sekke sees that it was it the captain of the Coral Peacock, Dorothy Unsworth.

"Hello." Dorothy greeted the two.

"O-oh, uhh, Hello." Sekke struggled to speak to the now awake captain. "Nice to meet you here."

Dorothy giggled a bit. "You're Sekke, right?"

"Y-yes I am."

"Now since you're new, I'll let you off with a warning. But remember, he's a magic knight, like us."

"Yes, I'm awa-"

"We are comrades. We are suppose to be working with each other."

"Well, I-"

"It would be a shame if you were to put a fellow knight in a coma." She then walked up to Sekke with a smile on her face. "It would be a shame if I would to return you to your captain with a some broken bones."

Asta was startled about what he was feeling from the captain. The cheerful flow of her aura quickly turned into a aura of terror as she release a big amount of aura from her person. While Asta was scared, Sekke was terrified. Sekke couldn't see what Asta was seeing but he felt the mana release from her.

This made Sekke nervously giggle at the captain and Dorothy made another giggle and a smile.

"Leave."

Sekke made a small nod and ran off to his captain. As Sekke left her eyesight, her scary flow calmed down and when back to her normal flow and turned to Asta.

"So you're Asta, right?" Dorothy asked in her cheerful tone.

"Uh... Yes?" Asta answered nervously to the now energetic captain.

She made a surprised gasp before getting uncomfortably close to Asta with a excited look on her face. "So you're what the boys are talking about."

"huh?"

"Born blind? Has a scar across the face? extraordinary senses?"

"Yes to all of that."

Dorothy was having a hard time staying still and was shaking Asta's hand rapidly. "I just can't believe it. It is nice to meet you. You're a rare one."

"Yes, I have been told."

"It's been a while since I've seen another one like you."

Asta was about to say something, but what she said made him do a double take.

"Wait, what do you mean?"

Before Asta could get a answer, Dorothy is lifted off her feet by the head.

"Don't barrage my new knight with a bunch of your questions." Dorothy looked at her grabber and sees Yami. "And you know it's wrong to eavesdrop on people's conversation."

"I know, but what I was hearing got me curious." Dorothy answered with a sweat drop coming from her. Yami put her down and she started to walk off. "Bye! Hope we get to meet again!"

"She very nice." Asta said to Yami.

"Yeah, It's kinda weird. She's usually asleep most of the time." Yami started to walk off. "Come on kid, it's time to meet your squad mates."

Asta and Yami walked to Finral, who was holding a portal opened.

"Uh, can you guys hurry up, I can't hold this open much longer." Finral said to Yami and Asta.

"What was that?" Yami said with a scary look on his face, making Finral sweat bullets. "That sounded like an order. Suck it up and push pass your limits."

He then grabbed Asta and threw him through the portal and he, Finral and Gordon followed after.

After going through, Asta fell to the ground. He got up and sensed many auras coming from what the building in from of him. Yami then picked up Asta back on his feet and he followed Yami's and the other two mana to the building.

"This is our headquarters, why don't you go in and introduce yourself?" Yami said.

Asta walked to the building. He then stopped once he felt the door in front of him. Before he opened it, He sensed a large ball of mana heading at the door. He quickly moved back as the ball of mana blew the door opened. After that, he was greeted with shouting and other noises coming from the inside of the building. Yami looked at Asta smiling.

"Welcome to the Black Bulls, one of the worst magic knight squads."

Asta looked back at Yami. He couldn't see it, but he knows that there's a big grin on Yami's face.

In the headquarters, there were two person fighting each other over something, one was admiring a picture of someone, a short person eating food, one was just standing there with smoke coming out of his mouth and a lady was on the couch in nothing but her bra and underwear.

'What type of squad did I just join!?'

"You will pay for destroying my snack!" The man with the mohawk said to the man with lightning, while launching fireballs at him.

"Oh come on, you got to try a lot better than that." The lightning man said while dodging the fireballs.

"Would you two keep it down? I'm trying to admire my sister." Said the man with half his face covered by his head.

"Could you keep it down, I got a killer headache." The pink-haired girl said, holding her head.

"I told you not to drink a lot." The mohawk man said to her.

"Well at least I can hold my liquor." She retaliated.

The noise kept going on until Yami had enough of it. "That's it. QUIT BREAKING STUFF ALREADY!" He shouted as he slammed his fist into the wall, breaking it. This got the attention of everyone in the headquarters. Everyone ran to the captain and started to talk his ear off.

"Yeah yeah, you're excited to see me." Yami said to his squad. "Now shut it."

Yami said with his expression changing to a intimidating one. Everyone, except for Asta who had some concern, quickly sat down on the floor.

"Now everyone, this is our new recruit, Asta." Yami stated.

"Hello, I'm Asta from the Hage village. It is nice to meet you all." Asta greeted himself as he wave his hand at the group of auras in front of him.

"Finral, introduce him to everyone." Yami asked him.

Finral started to introduce everyone to Asta. Here's what Asta picked up:

Magna is a delinquent with a rough flow to his energy. Luck is a berserker with a eerily happy flow. Gordon was a quiet man but was a friendly person from what Asta can sense. Vanessa was the drunk lady who tried to flirt with Asta, which made him a bit uncomfortable. Charmy was the short stack stuffing her face with food, but had a caring flow to her. Grey was the tall man with smoke from his mouth, but Asta sensed active mana coming from Grey. And Gauche, who Asta felt a weird over-caring flow from him.

He also sensed another aura source somewhere in the base but he was going to see who that is next time.

Gauche walked up to Asta and showed him the picture.

"Do you see this angel?" He asked him with blood coming from his nose.

"Actually, I can't." Asta answered back. This caused everyone, (minus Yami, Gordon and Finral), to look at Asta with some concern before Yami remembered something.

"Oh yeah, I knew I forgot to mention something. Asta here is blind." Yami said, which shocked everyone who didn't know.

"Wait, YOU'RE BLIND!?" Magna shouted, which caused Asta to pull away while covering his ears.

"You don't need to shout. He's blind, not deaf." Vanessa retaliated.

"You poor soul. You never seen what food looks like." Charmy said, hugging Asta with tears raining down her cheeks.

"I mean, you can fight, right?" Luck asked which caused some judging looks by Vanessa, Magna and Finral. "...What?"

"Oh, you poor boy." Vanessa said with sympathy behind her voice.

"So you can't see my angel of a sister?" Gauche asked in his usual calm tone.

"Everyone, shut up. Yes, he's blind but don't underestimate him." Yami stated. "He's a unique one. He manage to knock out his opponent with one hit."

"Really?" Magna said as he started to headed out the destroyed wall to the field. "Well how about we test that claim."

Everyone headed outside and Asta walked to the field. Magna had his grimoire in his hand, ready to battle.

"So tell me. How did you manage to pass?" Magna asked what everyone, except for those who know, was thinking.

"I use my senses." Magna and the other Black Bulls in confusion. "Due to me being blind, I can sense energy really well."

"Really? So you have good mana sensory?" Magna said as he created a fireball in his hand.

"Yes, you could say that." Asta responded by opening his grimoire.

As he was about to take out his sword, he stopped as he sensed another page in his book. He felt the page and another handle came out of it. As he pulled the handle out, he felt that the sword was heavier and wider than his katana. He another noticed that the sword was basically wrapped in the black energy.

'Woah, how long has this been in my grimoire? It's a lot heavier than my katana, but it's nothing I can't handle.' Asta thought to himself.

Magna throws the fireball at Asta while he has his eyes close and his head down. Asta puts his sword in a swinging position and as the the fireball was close, he swung. But instead of negating it, he hit it with the flat side of the sword. The fireball stopped as it hit the sword and Asta's instincts told control and swung the fireball back at Magna, hitting him and knocking him on the ground.

Asta put his new sword away and walked carefully to Magna's aura.

"Hey... Are you okay?" Asta asked worriedly.

"That... was... AWESOME! You launched my spell right back at me. You must have some awesome Magic."

"Uhh, Actually... I don't have magic." Asta replied to him.

"Wait, you have no magic and you're blind? Damn, you must be an extremely hard worker, huh?" Magna said as everyone walked up to them. Vanessa opened her grimoire and activated a spell which gave Asta a Black Bull robe.

"Ah, there we go. And I added a little something to help with your lack of sight." Vanessa told him. Asta felt his new robe, with the bull design thicker on one side than the other.

"Nice work, Asta." Gordon said in his quiet tone of voice.

"So you can fight." Luck said which caused everyone to look at him with judging looks again. "...What?"

Asta stood there with happiness in his blank eyes. Everyone started to head inside and Charmy walked to Asta and grabbed his hand.

"Come on. The food inside ain't going to eat itself." She then dragged Asta back to the base. as they were headed back inside, a silver-haired girl was watching the whole thing from out of their view.

"So that's the new recruit as well." This girl said before turning her head in a snobby way. "insect."

Unknowing to her, Asta has actually sensed her before they headed in the building. Asta was eating the delicious food that Charmy made and he thought to himself.

'She's new. Must be another recruit. I wonder what she's about?'
