Chapter 3: First Days

The next morning was a peaceful one, the birds outside chirped happily as they got ready for their annual migration. A calm breeze swooshed past the trees creating a satisfying rustling noise.

Kagome let out a sigh as her alarm went off. The shrill ringing catching her off guard a few seconds earlier, causing her to launch off the warm comfort of her bed and onto the cold, hard floor. Getting up and practically smashing the poor piece of tech to bits with her closed fist, she decided to at least make herself look decent for her first round of classes.

Shuddering at the lack of warmth, Kagome padded out of her very empty room to the bathroom. 'Remind me to decorate later..' she thought as she turned on the shower and waited for it to heat up. Steam filled the small room while Kagome stepped into the welcoming heat of her shower. Lathering her body with lily scented body wash, a small tune escaped her rosy lips. Her lovely singing came to an abrupt stop when flashes of that unforgettably handsome stranger holding her close came back from last night. She couldn't help the fact that she was aroused, I mean, who wouldn't be if an incredibly hunky stranger held you in their arms?

Deciding that she'd showered enough for the morning, Kagome shut off the water and wrapped herself in one of the fluffiest towels she owned. After walking back down the hall to her bare room she started to rummage through her luggage, looking for a few pieces of clothing that she needed to complete her killer outfit. After a while of making a mess, Kagome found what she was looking for and slipped out of the now damp towel, throwing it in her brand-new laundry hamper.

Deciding to keep her clothes tame for today, she chose to wear one of her favourite oversized band tees (A Metallica one to be specific) over a form-fitting white turtleneck. She wore a pair of ripped high-waisted boyfriend jeans and some worn in white vans that had been customised over years of boredom in class combined with paint pens. From her belt loops hung a series of shiny chains and she adorned a silver locket and a few rings on her small hands.

Walking over to the desk that currently held her 'essential' makeup and toiletries along with a mirror, Kagome plopped down in the chair and started to work on her daily look. She applied concealer to her eyelids and under eyes as a base, then gently brushed a natural dark brown onto the outer corner of her eyelid, making sure to apply a bit to the bottom of her eye as well. Next, Kagome took a lighter shad of brown and blended it from the dark brown to the centre of her lid. After that she finished off the look with some simple cat eye eyeliner and mascara. With a swipe of lip gloss after brushing her pearly whites, she was out the door and on her way to her first class of the new school year.

Kagome tightened the straps on her navy-blue backpack. Even though it was her second year here she never failed to be completely lost. 'curse this gigantic campus! I can't find where my classes are. Kami, I'm going to be late on my first day!'. She tried to ask someone where she might find her classes but nobody knew. Kagome pulled up a map on her phone, using it for a while before deciding that she had only got herself even more lost.Panic rushed through her veins as her palms began to shake, her breathing becoming faster and her chest tightened around her lungs which were trying to do their job under immense pressure.

She froze in place, why oh why was she having a panic attack over something so trivial? The feeling of being on the verge of vomiting started to rise in her throat, she needed to get away from there, and fast. Just as she started to feel the tears well up in her eyes, Kagome felt a large hand on her back.

"Hey, are you lost?" A soft but incredibly deep and rough voice inquired from behind her.

Turning her head ever so slightly, Kagome immediately recognized the voice of the handsome stranger across the hallway. He must have smelled the fear and panic on her because his usually belligerent face was contorted into a soft and caring expression that made her feel safe and welcomed.

Not being able to speak without bursting into tears Kagome nodded her head shyly.

"What are your classes for today? I can show you the way since I know the campus like the back of my hand!" He chirped, bending down to her height.

In response to this Kagome handed him her syllabus. Shuffling her weight from one foot to the other while he inspected the piece of printer paper with care. Her heart stuttered a bit when he looked up at her with a bright, mischievous gleam in his eye.

"We have most of the same classes together, and all of your classes are in the same area so you don't have to worry about running around campus." A wide smile spread across the handsome man's face.

Having calmed down a bit after walking to class with the hunk of a stranger that she kept running in to, Kagome sat through the two seminars that she had for the day. She noticed that he was in her psychiatry class. They had parted ways after their first class together and Kagome thought she wouldn't see him until they eventually crossed paths at the co-ed dorms. But when Kagome came out of her culinary course, she found him waiting for her outside.

His eyes brightened and he smiled when he saw that she had come out of the building, something inside of him couldn't leave this beautiful woman alone. Maybe it was her scent that lured him to her this morning. When he arrived to the smell of panic and tears, he thought something had happened to her and had made a silent vow to kill whoever laid a single finger on any of the pretty little hairs on her head.

Something about her just made him want to protect her, to lock her away under his care for all eternity. So he did the next best thing, he walked her to class (most of the classes they shared, he was strangely pleased that he could watch her almost all day) and after he was done with his two seminars, bolted over to where her last class was so he could walk her home.

"Hey!" He shouted from afar.

She locked eyes with him almost immediately and a small blush painted her plump cheeks. Slowly walking to him she finally spoke again.

"H-hi..."

"I'm going to walk you home, I don't have any other classes today so I thought that we could go get some coffee!" A cheesy smile graced his rough features. 'God she's so beautiful, I'm definitely going to make her mine'

"Sure, I would love some coffee after the day I've had." She let out a relaxed, open-mouthed smile.

"Oh! Before we go, I wanted to ask you, what's your name? I never caught it when we bumped into each other before…" The handsome man asked.

"K-Kagome, what about you kind sir?" Kagome inquired back with a sarcastic lilt in her voice.

"Inuyasha."
