"I think I can wake her up" Pidge looked to Keith. Did he know her? He seemed to.
"Do you want me to?" His eyes were set on the girl in the tube. He couldn't answer as his hand lifted to the cool glass he whispered something that Pidge couldn't understand instead she sighed.
"I'm guessing that's a yes." The brunette chuckled as she plugged something into the terminal and began typing on the holographic keyboard that had appeared. While Pidge was hacking into the terminal, she decided to do some digging. It was odd that Sendak would just kidnap people to experiment. He was about conquering not this stuff. A screen popped up with the date of her capture.
"Quisnak! Keith! She's been in here for a while!" Pidges eyes widened.
"Keith she's been in here even before Sendak invaded earth!" Keith's head snapped to his friend immediately. Pidge kept typing as new information kept coming up. It was all in Galra so shed have to translate it later.
"What!?" he was in shock But, the Galra have never been to Earth before that! How!? How could that happen!? Keith stepped back and looked back up at the girl suspended in the structure. He was beside himself and couldn't think. Is that why or how he lost contact with her after he joined the garrison? It had to be. They were so close.
"It's entirely possible that some scientist stumbled upon Earth at some point and took some subjects to experiment on." Pidge answered in a monotone way. She was now fixated on releasing the imprisoned girl. If they didn't want to be detected there's no way Earth would have been able to know. She kept typing and humming to herself as she made her way past different locks and firewalls. This was unbelievably difficult to get around. Why so much security for a normal earth girl? Pidge began to copy the content into her terminal.
Keith slammed his fist on the glass of the tube and closed his eyes breathing unevenly. He couldn't take this. He thought she abandoned him. He thought he'd never see her again. It was torture. Just as his eyes began to fill with tears, the sound of pressure releasing was heard and pressurized air shot out from the sides of the tube. Both ex-paladins stumbled back from the sudden outburst of air. The liquid inside slowly began to drain from the tube. Keith stepped forward suddenly his eyes wide.
It was then that the worst happened. The terminal turned red and a loud glaring alarm sounded throughout. The liquid stopped emptying. And her eyes began to flutter. She was waking up and the container hadn't emptied enough for her to not be submerged. She would drown. Keith's eyes widened more with the realization. He had just found her and now he could lose her again. His mind was spinning as he began to punch the glass, his fists bloodying with each impact.
"No! Keith screamed as Pidge immediately went back to the console. The holographic keyboard did not appear so she rammed the wire from her own computer into the terminal. Time was not on their side. It was probable that the girl didn't have any air in her lungs and that she had been in a stasis. She began to type furiously as the girl inside the tube opened her eyes slowly. Keith continued to slam his fist onto the glass.
"DO SOMETHING!"
"I'm trying!" Katie yelled. "Its not letting me do anything! There's a physical error with the machine! You have to break it!"
The girl opened her mouth to breathe but her eyes widened when she realized she couldn't. Her vision was blurry but she recognized Keith and slammed her hand against the glass looking around. She began to punch the glass on her side as well but to no avail. Her hand gentle rested on the glass as she looked sadly to Keith. She was doing her best to hold what little air she had in her lungs.
"DAMMIT!" Keith screams and grabbed his Marmora blade from his thigh and summoned its full version. He sliced and sliced and rammed it as hard as he could.
"Lindsey, No! I wont lose you again!" Growling, Pidge threw down her computer and ran to the back of the status chamber. There had to be a manual release! She just had to find it! Think! She summoned her Bayard and sliced the tubes and wires running to the chamber. Her eyes widened at what just happened. Her Bayard! But it disappeared when the Lions left! How!? She shook her head and pushed the thought aside and slammed the green paladin Bayard into the back of the chamber and opened the panel.
"Whatever your doing Pidge hurry it up!!" Keith called from the other side. His voice hoarse from screaming and his breathing ragged from continuous attacks at the tube. The girl began gasping. She was drowning. And she was drowning right in front of Keith. He couldn't do anything. Suddenly a ZAP and the container drained quickly and the tube opened, the girl falling to the bottom gasping for air. Keith was immediately on his knees at her side. Pidge emerged from the back of the chamber sweat dripping from her face, Bayard in hand. What just happened? Pidge looked confused. The girl began coughing up the liquid from the container just as Pidge kneeled.
You did it Pidge!" Keith hugged her quickly. "You really did it!" Pidge laughed a bit nervously but smiled. She didnt have the heart to tell him. There was another metal plate guarding the inside. She didn't actually do anything.
"I never should have doubted your genius!" He smiled widely and rubbed the girls back until she stopped coughing and heaving. Before she could attempt to stand, Keith picked her up bridal style. The only thing was that the alarm did not stop. The terminal from the tube shut off and the lights of the lab they were in, shut off. Pidge looked around.
"Uh oh". She simply said.
"There's a problem." sounded a voice over the intercom. It was Kolavan, a fellow blade of Marmora. "Keith, come to the Bridge. You need to see something." Pidge and Keith looked at each other. Lindsey, so named by Keith was now asleep in his arms. It must have been some side effects of what was keeping her asleep in the tube.
They raced towards the Bridge. The alarm was sounding all throughout the ship and all the lights were off. Instead a faint red glow was beginning to emanate from where the lights would normally be lit. It was also starting to get very hot inside the ship.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!?" screamed Kolavan, who was usually very calm. He eyed the sleeping human girl in Keith's arms.
"I came when our tech said you found some sort of experimental lab. I got here and this happened! Who is that?" He pointed to Lindsey as Pidge was immediately at the bridge console frantically typing.
"The ship is on lock down and, oh no!" Pidge turned to them her eyes wide. "Its on autodestruct! I can try to stop it but unless the lock down it shut off we cant leave!" She turned back and began working with the tech. it was just one thing after another.
"How much time do we have!?" Keith Asked. Lindseys eyes opened weakly. She looked up at Keith who was obviously focusing on Pidge and the alarm. She covered her ears as the sound of the alarm was deafening. Keith felt her move and looked at her smiling gently. The frantic worry could be seen his eyes though. He was trying to hide it from her.
"H..hey, long time no see Linds." Lindsey blinked and pushed off of him slightly as a way of telling him to let her down. He did. She stood on wobbling legs.
"wh.. wha" her voice was scratchy and weak from non use. "What's going o..on.."
"We have about five minutes to get the ship off of lock down and get the hell out of here!" Pidge called. "Head to the ships I've almost got the lock down lifted. Ill be right behind you!
"Are you crazy!? Theres no time! You can do it manually! At the hanger! Lets go Pidge!" Keith grabbed at her arm. She wrenched her arm his grasp and went back to work.
"I'll be fine, just go! Besides you need to get her out of here too, dont you? Ill be fine. I have a feeling itll be fine! Just go!" she yelled again. Since when did Pidge follow her gut feeling? Keith was confused and frantic, but he looked at Kolavan and the tech who both nodded. He looked at Lindsey.
"She's you're friend Keith? She seems capable. Shes got this." Lindsey stated as she grabbed onto Keiths arm to hold herself up. He sighed and nodded going down on one knee putting his arms behind him signaling her to climb up onto his back. She did so weakly, but he held onto her securely and took one look at Pidge before turning away from her.
"You better be right Katie." Keith with Lindsey on his back, Kolavan and the tech raced towards their ships leaving Pidge. There was hardly any Time to Escape.
