"It's going to trial." The worst thing Heath could hear after so long of expecting it to blow over. It's been so long! He'd allowed himself to relax, ease into the life he'd begun building with Wade... He presses his knuckles to his forehead and tries to listen to everything his lawyer is telling him. "Thanks," he says blankly once the conversation has petered out. "I'll... uh, I'll be in touch." His mind is in a fog as he informs WWE of this unfortunate, but not entirely unexpected development. Years this thing had dragged out, and he's not surprised that it'd finally led to here, to court, but. Still. He's scared. Gnaws at his lower lip and sits in bed, sheets pooled around his knees, as he listens to Wade wander around the house, probably preparing tea or maybe breakfast.
Sure enough, Wade returns with mugs of tea and a stack of toast and some eggs, settling the plate between them and moving to hand one of the mugs to Heath... when he realizes just hard he's shaking. "Hey. What's wrong?" he asks quietly, putting everything on the bedside table instead and leaning in to brush some of the hair out of Heath's troubled face. "Heath?"
"That case is goin' to trial," he finally mumbles, watching as Wade goes pale under his tan. "I've told WWE, and... now I guess I just gotta wait until my lawyer gets ahold of me." He looks close to tears when Wade kisses his shoulder, cupping his face and leaning in to press their lips together.
"You're going to be fine," he murmurs. "I'm gonna be here for you every step of the way." He eases Heath back down against the pillows and lightly massages his tense shoulder muscles, kissing along his jaw and throat. They're still sitting there, lost in each other, when Heath's phone chimes to inform him that WWE higher ups feel like he should release a statement, and to please pass it by them first before posting it anywhere. So Heath does; with help from Wade, he types up something that's both as honest as he can be about the situation and something WWE would agreeably expect from him. As soon as they clear it- and he even runs it past his lawyer for good measure- he uploads the entire thing and then turns his phone off with a grimace.
"What a mess," he mumbles. "I ain't even gonna keep my phone on a lot the next couple'a days. The comments by people online are so bad..."
Wade nods. Kisses his arm. "I don't blame you. Take time to think, prepare some sort of gameplan with your lawyer when he calls. It's all going to be ok."
"Thank you," Heath sighs, thinking about how lucky he has been the last few years with Wade by his side for all of the ups and downs. "I love you."
Wade smiles and leans his forehead against Heath's. "I love you too," he murmurs, bridging hte gap and kissing Heath slowly on the lips.
