Chapter 2: Ella
Enter Ella. She's always considered herself a good, respectful pup, and now that she was older, more responsible than her brother, Tuck. She's always loved using her Mighty pup power to help the PAW Patrol take down Ladybird and some of the other baddies, but since she almost died when Scott got to her (That was a hospital bill, to say the least,) and the rest to afraid of what would happen to them if the SEALS got to them, both her and Tuck had no idea what to do.
Ella keep suggesting to her stubborn brother that they should go back to Adventure Bay and help the PAW Patrol. Tuck, on the other hand, wanted to travel around, meet some new people, and live abroad.
Karma's a bitch.
Two months earlier
"Come on Ella, I was just having fun!" Tuck whined at his sister. "We have plenty left from when Ryder helped us out last year." Last year, both the twins came close to having to live as strays, had the now mayor of Adventure Bay not stepped in. He gave them a few thousand dollars, out of pocket, mind you, to try and get them on their feet.
You can guess what happened. "Tuck, there is no more. We spent it all, remember?" She snapped at her brother. "Or more like you did. I've been trying to get us some extra money, get you a job, but no, you have to go and waste it at the casino like an idiot, and refuse to even consider being useful!" In addition to wanting to wander, Tuck had a slight gambling problem. This lead to some tension between the two siblings, and Ella did not like having to put with Tuck's constant BS.
Tuck sighed dramatically. "Okay, I screwed up. Happy?"
"No, douchbage. Now what can we do, huh? We're more broke than one of Scotty's jokes when he's drunk, and we have no place to live anymore thanks to you!"
Tuck sighed. "Look, I'm sorry, alright? I screwed up bad. I thought if I hit it big-"
Ella cut him off. "No, I am not hearing you excuses again. Get a job or leave. Your choice. I am not being held down by you any longer."
The next ten seconds were a blur. Tuck was about to respnd when, suddenly, a car drove out into the intersection the twins were about to cross. A truck swerved to avoid it but ended up gunning his engine, coming straight at them.
The next thing she remembered was jumping out of the way right before the truck ran straight into the wall of the restraunt that was on the corner, Tuck caught right in the middle. All that time, he stood there dumbstruck, like a deer in headlights. He turned toward his sister and mouthed, "I lo-" before he was hit.
Ella rembered screaming her brothers name, the driver crying his eyes out, and the ambulance sirens blaring from a mile away. She didn't care. All she wanted was her brother back. She wished she could've gone back and said that she loved him, but al was too late.
The moment Ryder heard about Tuck's death, he immediatly tracked her down and brought her back to the Lookout. Everyone there was in shock, Marshall especially. Unknown at the time, Marshall was actually bisexual. Well, Chase had known for a while. But he had always had a small crush ever since they first meet.
After that, Ella was an emotional wreck. She barely ate for weeks, barley drank, and became a shell ofnwhat she was. That is, until one night that Chase came and talked to her.
One month ago
Chase walked up to Ella's room, who at the moment was lying on her bed, trying to sleep but doing so unsuccessfully. The German Shepard sighed heavily, not wanting to do this, but the reassuring smile of his girlfriend next to him said that he could. After all, he'd lost someone.
He opened the door and walk in. "Ella?" He said calmly. No response. Usually talking to the female Golden Retriver either ended up with her sobbin or her yelling. Neither was pleasent. He saw her on the bed, and called again. "Ella? Can we talk?"
The response was a bit harsh. "What, you cheating with me on Skye now?" Skye, still outside the door, suddenly had the urge to smack the ever loving hell out of Ella for that, but she managed to keep it under control. She'd take it out on the punching bags at the station.
Chase winced. "Ow." He said jokingly, tryin to lighten the mood. No response was elicited. He sighed. "No, actually, I just want to talk." He hesitated, choosing his next words carefully.
Ya know what, he thought, screw it.
"About you and how bad you are at handling your brothers death." Skye facepalmed.
Ella gave him a death stare. "What did you say?" He growled, ready to rip out the Shepards throat. Chase regretted what he'd just said, but went with it.
"Come on, you know what I'm talking about. You barely eat, drink, or do much of anything. What the hell happend?"
Ella basically screamed at him. "My brother died, dumbshit! What the hell do you think is wrong?" Again, Skye face palmed, as did Scott and Ryder, who had just walked up and heard Chase's comment.
The Shepard in question winced. Still, he pushed on. "That's not healthly, Ella. You can't just starve yourself to death. Is that what Tuck would've wanted?"
"What the hell do you know about what Tuck wanted? You barely knew him!" Again, she was screaming, which had atracted the rest of the pups. Scott was close to cryingm as hre'd done the exact same thing whe his girlfriend died.
"You're right, but you do!" Chase said forcefully. "Would he have wanted you to try and slowly kill yourself? Or would he have wanted you to move on?"
Ella screamed again. "Tuck was a fucking idiot! He gambled away all our money, mine included. He didn't care about us, just himself!" Her voice softend. "But, I-I still lo-loved him." She started choking on her words. "He was t-there for me. He was m-my brother. B-but he was still an idiot. He di-didn't thinks out."
Chase walked closer to her. "But he loved you. He's still you-" Chase got cut off by Ella suddenly hugging him tightly. He hugged her back after a second, embracing her like the sister she was to him.
Slowly, everyone outside the room came in. First Skye, then Scott and Ryder, both of which were crying, and the rest of the pups, also crying their eyes out.
There were no words spoken, but there was no need. Ella realized that her friends were there for her, no matter what.
Ever since that day, Ella had a giant crush on the Shepard, despite knowing they'd never be together.
A month later, she got the chance to return the favor.
God, I feel that argument was cheesy. Still, I did my best.
