Heeey guys I'm back with another lit chapter. I hope you like.

Senior year starts next week and to say I was terrified would be an understatement. I've stuck my ground though which is the good thing. I haven't slept with Julian since the last time which was 2 weeks or so ago. The girls have dragged me to a few parties the last few days and I've tried to avoid Julian at all costs and it worked for a while, but then he started blowing my phone up again with messages and calls and voicemails begging for me back.
Where exactly does he get the nerve to do that? He broke up with me after 3 years. He slept with half the school and he wants me to take him back. I laugh at that and ignore all his calls and messages and delete his voicemails.
So now I decided to take a walk down by the river. My phone is on silent and I closed my eyes for a second to clear my head a little. I stop when I see Lucas bouncing around a basketball and shooting nets. He was really good. He wasn't alone though, he had a few guys I've seen around school with him. I guess he has made friends already.
And then I saw a girl sitting on the picnic table watching them. She was cheering very loud for Lucas. I don't know why, but my heart sunk just a little at that. I go to turn away when Lucas sees me.
"Yo Brooke" he calls.
I could pretend to have my ear pods in and just keep walking or I can be confident and turn back around and walk over to them.
I go with the confidence. I take a deep breath and turn back around and put the biggest fake smile on my face thankful that none of them know me like my girls do.
"Hi Lucas" I wave walking towards him "you're really good at that" I say pointing to the ball in his hands.
"Thanks" he says "the guys said I should play when school starts"
"They're right you should"
"Hey Luke we should get going it's almost 5" the girls says jumping down from the table.
"Sorry I have to..."
"No its okay I have to head back too" I cut in "bye" I turn around.
"Hold up Brooke" Lucas runs up to me "my ma is having this grand opening tonight about 6 you should come"
Wait what. Was he asking me out? No of course he wasn't. It was just a friendly gesture. God damn it Brooke stop over thinking everything.
I look to the girl behind him as she watches us and then my eyes turned back to Lucas "I'm not sure that's a good idea"
"Why?" Lucas follows my gaze and then he laughs and he turns back to the girl "Lily come here" the girl walks over and Lucas pits his arm over her shoulders "Brooke this is my baby sister Lily and Lil this is Brooke"
My cheeks flushed again and I could see the smile on Lucas's face. God damn it I look like an idiot.
"Lucas you are only one year older than me" he shrugs his arm off of her shoulder "hi Brooke, it's nice to meet you" she smiles at me "and you should come tonight" and then she saw my Ravens case on my phone I forgot I was holding "oh my god you're that Brooke"
"Sorry I don't know what you..."
"You're Brooke Davis" she squeals Lucas looking as confused as I was "the head cheerleader of the ravens"
"Oh yeah I'm she" I nod and she squealed harder.
"It was tots awesome how you beat Claire and her awful group" she was referring to the competition last year "even though that was my team I was tots rooting for you and the ravens, you guys are awesome"
"Thank you"
Her phone then pinged "oh crap Luke we need to go, but Brooke I'm auditioning for a spot on the squad and I can't wait"
"She's always wanted to be a Raven" Lucas comments "as you can probably tell" I laughed "so we'll see you in an hour" I nod "great, see you then" and then Lily dragged him away.
I got to the cafe and saw that there were already a lot of people there. Everyone was talking among themselves so Lucas's mom must have already done the speech. I saw Lucas talking to a few guys I recognise from school. I look around and suddenly wish that I told one of the girls about my invite and asked them to tag along.
I then notice a tug on my hand and turn to see Lucas standing in front of me "hi" I breathed out with a smile
"Hey you" he replies and then he starts to pull at my hand and I follow him over to a booth by the window at the far end of the cafe "I reserved it for you, you hungry?"
I shake my head "I ate before coming"
He nods "oh I know, what about my Mom's fudge brownie with her home made cream?" that sounded yummy so I nod and he smiles at me again "I'll be right back"
I slide into the booth and take my phone out and scroll through Facebook and then Instagram when Lily comes over and slides into the booth across from me.
"Hi Brooke"
"Hi Lily" I reply putting my phone down on the table
"It's cute huh?" she says referring to the cafe that seemed to be cosy with the lighting being dim at the moment.
"I like it, seems like its going to be a hit with the town" Lily nodded agreeing with me.
I looked around and my eyes fixed on Lucas again, he was sitting on a stool at the island I presume waiting on my dessert. He was just so good looking with his sandy blond hair and ocean blue eyes.
"He likes you, you know" Lily states following my gaze.
I turn to her "really?" she nods "but he doesn't really know me"
"Yeah well when Lucas likes someone he just does"
"You two seem close" she nods again with a smile.
"We are"
"I like him too" I admit "but my situation is complicated"
"I know that too"
"You do?" she nods "oh"
"I mean he didn't tell me everything, but he said he met you and felt a connection, but it was complicated with you" that didn't make me feel better. I mean will Julian's hold last forever over me. Will no-one want to be with me because of that? I mean I know the guys at school wouldn't dare because they know Julian, but I didn't care about that. I cared about Lucas. He was new to town. He wouldn't know how to deal with the situation.
I guess it could be different; he could be different and not care.
"Lucas won't do anything about his feelings for you until he knows you feel the same so don't worry too much" Lily assured me "just be his friend and things will fall into line when and if it's meant to be"
She was a smart kid at her age. Most kids my age wouldn't have that kind of knowledge.
"Lily!" we hear he name being called.
Lily looked up at a brown haired lady looking our way "oh I have to go, mom is calling me" she slides back out the booth "oh and Brooke my brother is the best I know so you really don't have to worry" she then skips over to her mum standing behind the counter.
