I stood in the lobby as the girls headed up to their rooms. The lobby was becoming less busy now that very one was leaving. I told the girls I would be up in a little bit wanting to just think. I mean I had a lot swirling around in my head. I saw Nicki with Julian just a few days ago. Why was he with her? Did he know about her and Lucas's history? Is that why he is hanging out with her?

I finally decide to let myself get some rest so I walk to the lift and press the button. I wait for it to get to the ground before the doors opened. As the doors opened my eyed widened and my heart stopped again as I saw Lucas with Nicki together alone in the lift. What the hell was going on with them? My head can't take this at the moment.

I come out of my daze "I'll take the stairs" I utter turning around and heading to the stairs.

"Shit" I heard Lucas mutter "Brooke wait. Nicki stop for god sake. Brooke please wait"

"Can't deal with this right now Lucas" I spin on my heel to tell him "I'm going to my room. Good night" I push the door to the stair case and head up to my room.

I got to my room and ignore the girls and walk straight for the bathroom. I go in and close the door locking it behind me. I slowly slide down the door and sit on the floor with my knees up to my chest. Like I said before I had a lot going through my head at the moment.

Julian was one of them and no not the way you guys are thinking. Why would he be hanging round with Nicki? Does he know she and Lucas used to date or is it a coincidence that he just happened to meet her around? I needed the answer to that. What did he mean when he said just the other day that Lucas isn't who I think he is?

"Brooke are you okay in there?" I heard Rachel ask

I pull my phone out of my pocket "yeah I'm okay" I shout back. I scroll through my phone book and find Julian's number. I didn't see him here today so I knew he wasn't in Charlotte. So I'll get my answers tomorrow instead.

We need to talk ASAP. I'll be back in Tree Hill midday

I press send and patiently wait the reply.

By the River Court at 12:30?

Came his fast reply.

See you then.

I slide my phone back into my pocket and stand to my feet. I look into the mirror and see faint streak of tears down my cheeks. I didn't even realise I had cried until then. I washed my face needing to wash my makeup off anyway. Once I was done I opened the bathroom door meeting the girls on the other side.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Haley asked

I nod sitting on my bed crossed legged "yeah I just need some sleep and to leave Charlotte as soon as I can"

They understood that. We chatted for a little bit and then we headed to bed. The sooner we slept the sooner tomorrow would come.

The next morning the squad and I all got dressed and headed for breakfast before checking out and heading home. I got a few texts from Lucas and a call here or there, but I ignored it all. And then another texted came through.

Brooke please answer me. We need to talk

Please. L

I let out a sigh and decided to reply this time.

We can talk later Lucas. We are heading home now. I'll text you. B

His reply came fast.

Okay. Just please text me later. L

I will. I promise. B

We got back home at midday like I predicted we would. I dropped everyone at there houses and then headed back to mine. I went to the Laundry room and put my cheer uniform in and put the machine on. I then ran up to my room and put my cheer bag in my closet. I looked at the clock seeing it was 12:20. I grabbed my phone and car keys again and headed to meet Julian.

He was there first. I parked my car and slammed my door shut. I wasn't in the mood for this, but I needed to know why I saw him and Nicki together. No bullshit. Just answers. I walk towards him seeing a smile form on his lips making my blood boil all that more. I wasn't playing with this douche of an ex boyfriend of mine.

"Wipe that smile off of your face Baker" using his last name I knew he would know I was mad and I was. I'm pissed "why were you hanging out with Nicki? Did you know she and Lucas had dated?"

The look he was giving me gave me the answer to that. I half heartily laughed shaking my head "why would you bring her to tree Hill Julian? Why were you hanging out?"

"I was asking her about Lucas for you Brooke. I was looking out for you" he replied.

I laughed again "I told you I don't need you looking out for me Julian. God. What is wrong with you?" he stepped towards me "do not come near me Baker" I warn him "how did you even know about her? Were you looking into his background?" Julian nodded "oh my god. You've officially gone crazy" I walk backwards away from him "leave it alone Julian. Stop doing whatever it is your planning. I don't want your help and I don't need it"

"But Brooke he isn't who you think he is?"

"Yeah well he can't hurt me as much as you did" Julian just looked at me. I knew that was a lie because what I feel for Lucas is stronger than what I ever felt for Julian, but he didn't need to know that "just stop what your planning Julian" I then turn around and walk back to my car. I get in and head home.

I was going to head home and then I found myself heading over to Lucas's house. I parked up and walk around to his side door to his room. I knock and wait for him to reply.

"Brooke" he sounded surprised to see me "I wasn't expecting you"

"Oh hey Brooke" I look pass him and see Lindsey sitting on his bed.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had company" I turn around and run down the few steps back to my car.

"No wait Brooke" I stop at my car and turn to him "this isn't what it looks like"

I nod "you've said that a lot to me lately Lucas. I don't like it. I'll text you later"

"No you're here now" he says taking my hand and bringing me back to his room with him "Lindsey take my chemistry book and leave please" Lindsey nodded and did as he asked.

"Bye guys" she waved and headed out.

"We were just studying" I nod again "about Nicki" he says sitting me on his bed. I push myself back and cross my legs "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about her. I knew you'd probably see her and I said nothing and I'm sorry for that"

"She made me look like a total idiot Lucas" he nods getting down on his knee in front of me "just like you had with Julian our history is very complicated and I will tell you about it, but I just need a little more time"

"I didn't want to be that girlfriend that pushed Lucas, but I told you my history because you walked into it and I had no choice, but now I've walked into your history and you still haven't said anything about it. I don't know anything about your background. Not really"

He stood up and ran a hand through my hair "it's a very long story Brooke"

I uncrossed my legs and scooted forward on the bed "oh yeah because my history with Julian wasn't just that Lucas. That bitch tries to push my buttons to get a reaction from me and why because I'm dating you. What does she still love you or something? Has she got something over you?"

"I doubt very much that she still loves me Brooke"

"Oh really because the way I saw it, she was all over you. I saw her reaction when she saw you at the competition Lucas. She jumped at you for god sake. The girl is still in love with you"

"We didn't exactly end on good terms Brooke. She was just shocked to see me after everything that happened" he tried explaining.

"And what did Lily mean when she said she isn't going to let Nicki ruin your life again?" I ask. I know I said I would let him tell me on his own time, but that was before Julian got involved and he knows something and I want to hear it from Lucas before Julian dangles it in front of my face again.

"Brooke please just give me a little more time. We've had such a good time together"

"Lucas I'm sorry, but I can't give you that time. I need answers and I need them now"

He looked to me "why? Why are you pushing so hard Brooke?"

"Because I want to know. I need to know now"

"Why? You said I could tell you in my own time"

I did say that, but things have changed now. Julian has come onto the playing board "yeah well things have changed"

"What's changed" I say nothing I just look up at him our eyes connecting "Brooke what has changed?"

"Julian okay. He has changed the game here" I finally admit "he pried into your life and found Nicki. I saw them together the other day so when I saw her at the competition it clicked in my head so I went d asked him about it. Asked him what he was doing. He knows everything Lucas. She told him everything or she at least told him something about you"

"Wait" Lucas sighed in disappointment "you went to Julian before coming to me?"

I nod "yea, but just to ask him why and how he knew Nicki. I didn't let him tell me anything else because I want you to tell me. I needed to hear it from you"

"And you didn't mention this to me in Charlotte because?"

I raised my eye brow in confusion. Was he being serious right now "because for one I didn't know who she was until I met her myself and two what time was I meant to mention it to you, when she was hanging off of you or when she was standing super close to you in the elevator?"

"Both of those situations wasn't what they looked like"

"Yeah I figured, but I've had so much on my mind so sorry for actually needing to know what Julian is up to before coming over here and hearing your side first"

"Okay fine" he sat down in his desk chair and ran a hand through his hair again "it all began my freshman year"
