Ron Weasley woke up early that morning. This was unusual for him as he loved to sleep till late. He got ready into his casual clothes as there were no classes today and decided to check on Harry and Hermione.
He walked down the hall. He heard the few students that were present murmuring among themselves but ignored it and went his way.
He was on his way to the hospital wing when something caught his notice. It was a door. A door to what? He did not know. What was it even doing here? It was never here before. He could not help but wonder what was behind it. He came closer and pushed lightly. The door opened.
There was a dark passage. He stepped inside. And then he stepped out. What was he thinking of doing just now? God knows what was in there. Maybe, he would tell the Headmaster. He turned and went on his way to the hospital wing.
He turned back to get a last glance at the door and to his utmost surprise, it was no more there! What the hell just happened! He had heard of many things about Hogwarts from Fred and George but appearing and vanishing doors was never one of them. Did he hallucinate? No, it could not be so since he actually touched and opened the door. Was it some ancient enchantment on Hogwarts? But why would the door appear to him for no apparent reason? Surely, Dumbledore would know about this. He should go after him now.
He bolted towards the Headmasters Office. Now, this was something he would know about. He ran up the staircase and stood face to face with the stone gargoyle in front of the Headmaster's Office. Oh shit!
This required a password. What was it again? Some sweet name - lemon something... Lemon drop... Maybe. He said it aloud but the annoying thing still did not move. Maybe he could try something another. What other sweet has a lemon in it? Lemon sherbet... yeah, sherbet lemon.
He said it hoping for the best and guess what, it actually worked!
He ran up the stairs and burst into the office but stopped as he saw the confused looks on Harry and Dumbledore's faces. Harry? Wasn't he unconscious?
Uh... maybe he woke up.
He said coldly, "We have a lot to talk about, Professor Dumbledore."
Dumbledore flinched at the cold gaze directed towards him. He wondered what prompted Harry to talk coldly to him.
He spoke, "I guess we do."
They found themselves in his office. Harry was silent along the way as if wondering about something. Dumbledore broke the silence between them, "So what was it you wanted to talk about?"
"Why," asked Harry simply.
Dumbledore confusedly said, "I don't understand."
"Why did you send me to the Dursleys, Professor?"
"Harry, I would answer this question to you when it is time-"
Harry interrupted, "No, Professor, you have said later a lot of time. I want the answers now."
Sighing, Dumbledore asked, "Alright, but you have to explain to me why you asked me this question all of a sudden."
"I met my parents"
The normally calm Dumbledore shouted, "WHAT?"
"Yes, and I found out that I should have gone to my godfather, Sirius and another friend of my parents, Remus. But YOU SEND ME TO THE DURSLEYS. WHY?!"
Dumbledore attempted to calm Harry but he continued, "YOU DID NOT EVEN TELL ME THEIR IDENTITIES. MAYBE YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE IF THE EVENTS HAD NOT TRANSPIRED!"
He stopped, breathing hard. "I am sorry, Harry," Dumbledore's voice came. "I would like to know how you met your parents but I think I shall explain my actions to you before it. Sit down, please."
It was a request, not an order. He reluctantly sat down. Dumbledore spoke up, "You would want to know why Voldemort attacked you in the first place. You had asked me earlier but I had decided then that you would have to be fifth year when I revealed it to you. However, it seems you are ready to know now, Harry."
"What? But I thought that he had come after my parents. Because, well, you know," Harry said in a confused manner.
"He did come after your parents but his real motive for coming after them is you."
"Me? But why on earth?"
"A prophecy."
"Yes, a prophecy. There was a prophecy made about you in a pub which only a Death Eater and me heard."
"A prophecy about me? Wait, this is too much to take in. Give me a moment," Harry paused for a second and urged Dumbledore to continue, "What did it say?"
Dumbledore told him about the prophecy (It is more or less same as given in the book.)
Harry asked in very calm manner though there was anger bubbling inside, "Who did it?"
"Who did what, Harry?"
"Which Death Eater heard the prophecy?"
Dumbledore said in a low voice, "Severus Snape."
Harry yelled out in outrage, "SNAPE! HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VOLDEMORT COMING AFTER MY PARENTS. HE-HE IS A DEATH EATER. WHY THE HELL IS HE NOT IN PRISON? HOW CAN YOU EVEN LET HIM RUN AROUND THE SCHOOL? HE SHOULD PAY FOR HIS CRIMES."
"Harry, he was a death eater," said Dumbledore putting an emphasis on 'was', "He had a change of heart the moment he found out Voldemort was coming after your family. He put his own life on line and became a spy for me. Do you not remember that he did save your life in first year?"
Harry still looked defiant, "But-but, fine. Do not expect me to forgive him completely, by the way."
"I hope you will be able to forgive him fully, one day. Now, you know what follows. Voldemort's spell backfires but he stays alive for some reason."
Harry interrupted, "Horcruxes."
Dumbledore gasped in shock. Dumbledore lost his calm which was a rare sight to see. "How do you know about Horcruxes, Harry," said he in a dangerous tone.
Harry, for the first time, looked a little afraid. He said, "I-I found about it from my ancestor."
Dumbledore asked, "Your ancestor? What do you mean?"
Harry explained everything to him. Dumbledore was eerily silent by the end of it. He looked to be in deep thought. "So, he really did it," said he suddenly.
Harry asked, "You knew Voldemort made horcruxes?"
"I did not, but I had doubts. I did not want to believe that Tom would sink this low to achieve immortality. And, you were a horcrux, then. Good thing that it is destroyed by now."
"And what about the Deathly Hallows? Did you know about them, Professor?"
Dumbledore smiled, "Yes, I did, my boy. Almost everyone knows. And no, it is not common knowledge. There is a children's story about them. It is exactly what people believe the Deathly Hallows to be - a children's tale. But, they do not know the three objects are called Deathly Hallows. However, I did not know that they had the power of immortality. This is very important."
Harry asked, "Do you know where the other two are, Professor?"
Dumbledore smiled a 'I know' smile, "I do not know where the Resurrection Stone but I will let you know that my wand is the Elder Wand."
Harry spluttered out, caught off guard, "Your-your wand is the-the Elder Wand. But-but-but how?"
Dumbledore replied, "I had thought you would be shocked. You seem to know how the Elder Wand changes ownership. I won the wand from Gellert Grindelwald in our duel."
"Grindelwald? The dark wizard? You won it from him. How - uh, never mind, we do have to find the resurrection stone though. Anyways, I want you to continue about after Voldemort's body was destroyed," said Harry.
Dumbledore nodded and sighed, "I understand that you are angry at me about sending you to Dursleys but, believe me, I had no choice in this matter. Your mother's death placed a love protection on you. However it would only have existed for a year. There was only one way to prevent it. A person whose blood had close relationship to your mother's."
"And that person was Aunt Petunia since she was her sister," Harry deadpanned.
"Yes"
"But why did I never meet Sirius or Remus?"
"My boy, Sirius was the one who betrayed your parents.
Harry looked horrified, "WHAT! You all are under the misconception that Sirius betrayed my parents. No, no, no, it was Peter Pettigrew, he was the Secret Keeper."
Dumbledore was sceptical, "Are you sure about this, Harry?"
He said indignantly, "Of course, Mum and Dad said so themselves. Sirius was just a decoy."
Dumbledore said gravely, "Oh my, I have allowed an innocent person to be sent to Azkaban. We have to get your godfather out of prison as soon as possible. And about Remus, I do not know but the toll of losing three of his best friends must have been heavy for him. And he may have thought he was dangerous to be with you."
Harry asked confused, "Dangerous to be with me, why?"
"It is his thing to tell you. I will try to convince him to return next academic year to teach Defence against the Dark Arts next year."
Harry nodded. He left this matter for later. It was quite clear that Dumbledore's actions were out of good intentions. That, however, doesn't mean that he's gonna trust completely. But he would give him a chance. It looked Dumbledore would try to make things right. He took up another matter at hand.
He asked, "What happened after I became unconscious, sir?"
Dumbledore replied, "Your friend, Mr. Ronald Weasley was able to rescue you. Fawkes was responsible for you being alive. Phoenix Tears can heal even basilisk poison after all."
Harry answered gratefully, "Thank Fawkes for me, Professor. What happened to Ginny and Ron?"
"Oh, your friends. They safely escaped the chamber. Mrs Ginevra Weasley is a little traumatized by yesterday's events but is comforted by her parents. You can meet them today."
This was when the door suddenly opened and in came a panting Ronald Weasley who looked a little shocked the next moment after seeing Harry.
Ron started awkwardly, "Er...hi."
Harry said, "Uh...Hello Ron."
Ron shouted, "Harry, you are well again. That is great, mate."
They patched up for the next few minutes. Dumbledore asked, "So, what was it you came to me for, Mr Weasley?"
Ron explained about the door he had encountered. Harry looked confused as well by the end of it. Dumbledore, on the other hand, had a smile plastered on his face with a twinkle in his eyes.
He said, "I think I know what it is. But I would have to check before answering you."
They looked like they wanted to argue more but left the matter for the moment at that. But it wouldn't hurt to 'research' a little, now, would it?
Dumbledore continued, "The Mandrake would be administered by the evening today. You can meet Mrs Granger after that."
Harry and Ron gasped before having a gleeful expression. They had a lot of things to do with Hermione. It had a good few months without her comments about studying, ranting about following the rules, etc., etc. They really missed her.
Ron left for breakfast but Dumbledore asked Harry to stay a little more time. (The next part is same as canon where he explains about Harry's Parseltongue and the other things and Dobby.)
Harry went to breakfast and stuffed himself with enough food. Hermione would be fine this evening. The threat was gone. They would need to explain to the school as well but for now, it is on the 'later list'. He would meet Ginny after this. Life was good, for now at least.
Sorry for the late update. How was it? And just to clarify the door Is not the door to the Room of Requirements. Inform me please in case of any plot holesπ π π. Thank you
