A/N: Is there a twinge of angst coming between our heroes, yes. But I do mean just the littlest bit. These are two people with two different lives, and when it happens you'll see why…or at least if I wrote it right you will. Thanks for the reviews, and support. On with our story.

Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck

"I'm sorry," Chuck murmured as he pulled away.

Sarah shook her head. "Thanks, but at least he's not in pain anymore."

"Yeah," Chuck said nodding. "But I meant just coming over here and hugging you." She was silent and was standing there, just staring at him. "You don't know me that well, and for me to just-"

"Chuck, thank you," she said, putting her hands on his shoulders. "You seem to keep going out of your way to help me, and I repay you by giving you a concussion."

"Don't think it's a concussion," Devon told her. "And that's just what the Chuckster does. Helps people with financing on the houses he flips. Finds companies to pay part of the costs. Hell, sometimes he cuts his take on the project. Getting you that Laserdisc was just something he would do for anyone." Chuck turned to Devon, his eyes wide, and a look of shock on his face. "What?"

"You got Dad that Laserdisc?" Sarah asked. Chuck widened his eyes and pressed his lips together, looking at Devon. Devon winced. Chuck turned back to Sarah. "Did you?"

"Yeah," Chuck began, but he couldn't say anything else, because he was caught up in a hug, this one instigated by Sarah.

"Thank you," she said softly, squeezing him tight. "It was the one thing that I thought I could do for him, and you made it happen. Thank you."

"My pleasure," Chuck told her. The door opened and Ellie walked in. Chuck was facing the door, and Sarah couldn't see Ellie. Ellie stopped short, took one look at the two and then locked on to Chuck. "Her dad…" Ellie nodded, walked over, and placed a hand on Sarah's shoulder.

Sarah looked up, saw Ellie, and hugged her. "Thank you so much for everything." There was nothing for Ellie to say, she just held the younger woman as she cried again.

"I don't think you have a concussion," Ellie told Chuck sometime later. Sarah had stopped crying, and had gathered herself. She went back up to help her mom, but not before getting Ellie, Devon, and Chuck's phone number. "However, you might have a brain injury."

"Is it serious?" Chuck asked.

"I don't know," Ellie said, her hands on her hips. "Devon told me you didn't tell Sarah about the Laserdisc."

"And?"

"Chuck…I know you don't go around bragging about the things you do. I know you have been hurt professionally... and even more so personally. I know you feel like you're alone, but that woman likes you. She can be a friend…or maybe more." Chuck started to reply when Ellie held up her hands. "I am not matchmaking, I am simply worried about you. Hell, mom and dad are worried about you."

"I'm a screw up, Ellie," Chuck said. Ellie started to retort. "No, I didn't put the company first, and we went bankrupt, people lost their jobs." Ellie nodded. "I got so caught up in myself and what I did wrong, that I didn't see who was there for me."

"It's sweet you're trying to make it sound like it wasn't Jill's fault you two broke up," Ellie cut in.

"Ellie, if I hadn't been so down in the dumps, do you think she would have?" Chuck asked. "Let's be honest, I've been pretty miserable."

Ellie cocked her head to the side and studied her brother. "Why the change in attitude?"

"Sarah's dad," Chuck told her with a shrug. "This guy…he does the right thing, and it costs him everything. Well, almost everything. He still has his family. His daughter tried everything she knew to find that Laserdisc. He lost his life today. He doesn't get any more chances to do anything….and-and I get I probably should have realized the same thing back then but…."

"You were hurt and dealing with so much," Ellie said gently.

"I was but...they're both gone...Sarah's dad and…." He couldn't say it, still after all this time. "And, they're not coming back," Chuck paused, and blew out a breath and looked away, tears in his eyes, still after all this time.

"But you're still here," Ellie told Chuck, squeezing his hand.

"I am," Chuck replied, nodding, and wiping at his eyes. "I am here, and I haven't been doing the best job of living." There was a knock on the door.

"Hold that thought," Ellie said, going over to the door. She opened it and Sarah was there.

"Is he okay?" Sarah asked, worry on her face.

"Honey, any damage done to him, was done long before he got hit in the head today," Ellie assured her. Sarah giggled. "Come in."

She did, and Chuck and Ellie could both see the trepidation on her face. "So, I don't know how much of my back story you know," she began.

"I've told him most of it," Ellie told Sarah.

"Good," Sarah said. "Mom and I have decided to have a funeral. He told us a few days ago that our life on the run was over, that was the silver lining in all of this." She looked away for a second and blew out a breath. "We're gonna hold a service for him and I was wondering if you would be there."

Chuck stood there, thinking Sarah was talking to Ellie. Ellie gave Chuck a look. "Me?" Sarah nodded. "If that's what you want…I mean…"

"Chuck, I'll be honest, I know we don't know each other that well, but you've been nothing but kind to me, and this may be asking way too much, and if so say so." She took a breath. "This is killing me, and the only real peace I've found since I got here was being around you, and I know-"

"Hey," he said gently. "Spiraling is my thing." She snorted and shook her head. "Yes, Sarah, yes I'll be there."

"Thank you," she told him. "If there is ever anything I can do…"

"Actually he needs someone to take him home, he's not cleared to drive tonight," Ellie told Sarah. Chuck started to protest. "You don't have a concussion but you've knocked yourself silly…well, sillier than usual." Chuck stuck his tongue out at his sister.

"I'd love to," Sarah told them. "Let me go let mom know what's going on." She paused at the door. "Finally, I don't have to worry about being followed any more. Meet you at the car?" Chuck nodded, and headed out of the room with her. Neither of them noticed the large man at the end of the hallway watching both of them.

A/N: Huh…someone watching and something else that happened in Chuck's life. I wonder what? Hmmm? What's that, or right.

"Sure," Zondra answered. Chuck grinned and walked off. Zondra turned to Carina. "Is he…is he…"

"Yup," Carina replied. "I do believe our boy is coming out of that terrible slump he has been in for…" she checked her watch and then looked over at Zondra. "Years."

"We're not getting involved, right?" Zondra asked.

"Hell no," Carina said. "But we will sit back, and judge the hell out of them."

Well….I see our very own Statler and Waldorf are at it again. Come on back tomorrow and see more of this train wreck. Take care of yourself.
