AnnaBeth woke up with a start her eyes wide as she felt movement in the bed beside her. She peeked under the covers to make sure. They were both very naked and it hadn't all been a dream. It would have been a very pleasant dream, but instead it was reality and that filled her with anxiety.

"Morning" Kelly said sleepily looking up at her as she sat clutching the sheet to her chest.

"Oh, that was not good" She said to herself shaking her head.

"Wait you thought last night was bad?" He asked furrowing his brow "Because it seemed like…"

"Oh no" She replied "That was…wow"

She rolled her eyes as he smirked at her use of the word wow and sighed.

"But it probably shouldn't happen again" She told him "We work together and…"

Kelly pulled her into a kiss, and she forgot all of her reasons for why it was probably a bad idea.

"You know you can't just distract me like that to make me be quiet" She told him pulling back with a smile.

"I'm not good at the whole relationship thing" He told her pushing back the hair that had fallen in her face "But I really like you AB"

AnnaBeth bit her lip. She really cared about Kelly and there was obviously something there. But that just made it all the more scary. He could rip her heart out just like Lavon had and she had worked so hard to get over that. But she couldn't tell Lemon to just go for it in life to be happy if she wasn't willing to do the same.

"Well then" She told him "I think you owe me a real date"

"You're right" He agreed "It's not a real date but do you want to go to Mill's leaving party together?"

"Wait" She said furrowing her brow "Peter Mills is what?"

Gabby was sat on the couch flicking through a magazine when Kelly and AnnaBeth walked through into the living room.

"Severide" Gabby greeted him with a smirk "What are you doing here so early?"

"Dawson" He nodded but he refused to answer her question.

He walked to the door with AnnaBeth his hands resting on her waist.

"I'll pick you up later" He told her as he kissed her goodbye at the door.

AnnaBeth could already feel her cheeks turning pink as she waved goodbye leaning against the door frame. She sighed happily as she shut the door and turned to face Gabby.

"What?" She asked innocently.

"AnnaBeth Nass did you have sex last night?" Gabby asked her shifting so she was sitting up on her knees eager for the gossip.

"I'm not sure I could possibly talk about such things" She replied with a small smile.

"AB don't act like you're still a belle, I've heard you give Lemon sex advice, you're dirty really" Gabby laughed.

"Yes, we did" She admitted "And that man knows exactly what he is doing"

"So, it's a well-deserved reputation?" Gabby asked with a smirk.

"Oh yes" She nodded.

"Just be careful" Gabby told her "Severide is my friend but he has a track record"

Gabby was a good friend and AnnaBeth knew she was right. But she couldn't just watch her life go by because she was scared of what might happen. Sometimes you just needed to go for it.

"More to the point" She said changing the subject "Did you hear about Peter Mills?"

"I can't believe it" Gabby said "I'm going to miss him"

AnnaBeth loved getting dressed up. She knew some women hated being in dresses and heels, but it was when she felt the most like herself. She opted for a fleur-de-lys dress with a cream button up top and a blue and white skirt. A pretty ribbon belt around the waist finished off the look.

Kelly had picked her up as promised. It felt a little strange walking into Molly's hand in hand.

She could already feel herself welling up just looking at Peter. Kelly squeezed her hand.

"Are you ok?" He asked.

"I'm fine" She replied although not all that convincingly.

Peter would see in her eyes that she would probably start crying. He looked down at her holding Kelly's hand as he walked over to greet her, but he didn't comment on it. She threw her arms around him.

"No testing the limits of your mascara" Peter teased her making him smile.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me you were leaving" She said into his chest not trusting herself to look at him without bursting into tears.

"You're one of my closest friends AB" Peter told her "I knew it would be hard to tell you, but Rice helped me see how important family it, I have to go"

She had been told his family where moving to open a new restaurant. Scott was right, family was so important. As much as she'd miss him, he had to go wherever he was going to be happy.

"You know I'll have to give you some real southern cooking tips" She told him teasingly as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

"AB's breakup pie?" Peter asked with a wide grin.

"Or my Loganberry Quince Jam to sell by the jar" She shrugged.

"That stuff would be a gold mine" Cruz added.

"I'm going to miss you partner" She told him handing him the gift she was holding.

Peter unwrapped the box and smiled as he looked at the dancing pineapple dashboard toy that matched the one, they had in the ambulance.

"Look out for her" Peter told Kelly as he gave her another hug.

Kelly led AnnaBeth to the bar resting his hand on the small of her back. Herrmann came over to them.

"Alright" Herrmann said "It's 15% off for Mills last night"

"Very generous" AnnaBeth teased.

"Mills drinks on me tonight" Kelly added.

"You're going to regret that" Peter told him.

It was a nice send off for Peter. Everyone only had great things to say. He was the heart of the house and had built a real bond with every person there. Mills leaving was going to leave a big hole in their family. Because that's what they were. AnnaBeth watched as Mills said goodbye to everyone but Gabby. She was quick to follow him outside when he left. AnnaBeth knew they had a history, so she was sure there were things he'd want to say to her alone.

"You're quiet" Kelly said bringing her attention back.

"I'm fine" She said putting her arms around his neck "A little sad but I'm happy for him truly"

"He's always got a place here to come back to" He told her.

"I don't think so" She said "In a small town and with family there's that sense of community you just can't recreate, I think it will be good for him"

"Does that mean you miss home?" He asked.

"I do" She admitted "But I needed to be here, I know I did"

"I'm glad" He told her pulling her closer.

Capp choked on his beer seeing them with their arms around each other.

"Hold on, since when were you to together?" Capp asked.

"Since now" She told him.

"Are you sure you want to get caught up with the likes of him?" Scott asked teasing his friend.

"Oh I'm fairly sure" She nodded leaning in to kiss Kelly ignoring the whoops from their friends.
