A/N: For those of you that don't know, Friday night, my parents house was destroyed by a tornado as it collapsed into their basement/garage as they were in the SUV parked there. They dug themselves out. They are okay, but that was the tornado that was on the ground for 200 plus miles.
An hour and a half later, another tornado hit a block and a half from my house and I truly thought I and my family was going to die. We're all okay. My parents are staying with my sister. We have power, no internet, but I caught wifi at work for 2 minutes and decided to post this because who knows when I can next. If you want to help please go to teamwkyrelieffund. ky .gov. This will help ALL Kentuckians affected by the tornadoes. Thank you all for the love and support. This has been crazy. I keep telling MySongStory that I just want a boring life, and no one will let me have one. On with our little tale.
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck
"Christ, Bartowski, I gave you this assignment, it's not a group project," Casey muttered, sitting down in the restaurant. He looked around the table. "I get those two," he said pointing to Zondra and Carina. "But her?"
"It is my ass that he's trying to save," Sarah muttered.
"I would have gone with fine ass," Carina added. Casey looked over at her, and she winked at him. Casey grunted, and looked away, a little embarrassed. "Nice," she said softly.
"Jesus," Zondra muttered.
"Well, if you hate that, I'm about to really piss you off," Chuck told Casey. "I told her everything." Casey looked ready to have a coronary. "If anyone knows anything about them, it's her Casey. We have no idea what her dad did or did not tell her that we can use."
"Numbnuts, that stuff would have come out at trial," Casey replied.
"Hey, back off of him," Carina snapped. Casey sat back, surprised. "You don't get to treat him like that."
"Thanks, Carina," Chuck murmured to her. She nodded at him. "We have some ideas, but if you're gonna be a jerk about things then forget it, we'll do it ourselves."
"You have no way to-" Casey began.
"His mom is a CIA analyst," Carina cut in. "You should know that."
"I do but-" Casey tried again.
"Then you know he has ways of getting that information to the government," Carina cut in again. She held Casey's gaze. "You also know how good he is and how he could dump all of that info anonymously into any law enforcement's lap. So, you need me more than he needs you."
"I need you?" Casey asked, an eyebrow raised.
"Us," Carina corrected herself. The two were staring each other down.
"This is getting entertainingly uncomfortable," Chuck said to Sarah.
"Perhaps you should show him what you have," Sarah suggested.
"I think he'd rather see what Carina has," Chuck replied, making Sarah snicker. Casey let out a low growl and turned to Chuck. "I made him angry."
Sarah picked up a manila envelope, and pushed it over to Casey. Casey gave them a speculative look and opened the package. "What's this?"
"Freddy Page," Sarah told him. Casey glanced at it and back at her. "If I may?" she asked Chuck. Chuck nodded. "You'll notice that Freddy's account gets a thirty thousand dollar bump the day before each of the included inspections are filed.
Casey looked at the amounts of money that were circled in Freddy's bank account, the dates, and then the corresponding dates on the inspections that were filed. "Huh," he grunted.
"May I?" Carina asked. Sarah nodded, grinning. "You'll also notice, if you can quit gazing at me." Everyone saw the grin on Casey's face at that. "The following papers are the bids on the buildings in question, and a list of required materials."
"Okay, so?" Casey asked.
"The next sheets are the purchases made by Sammy's companies," Carina continued. "Nowhere in there, do you see the materials listed, and inventory shows none ever existed."
"How the hell did you get that?" Casey asked.
"Someone is new school and likes to keep stuff on his home computer," Chuck replied.
"I mean, this is great," Casey said. "I just wish we had audio."
"How about Freddy?" Chuck asked.
"What?" Casey asked. Chuck waved to a mousy looking guy at the bar eating nachos. "What the hell?"
"Freddy is single and was being treated to a Thanksgiving in Vegas for all his hard work by Sammy," Chuck began. "Do you know those guys have no idea how easy it is to turn their electronics into listening devices?"
Casey snorted. "So, what does he want?"
"Immunity," Carina told him. Casey nodded. "Now, apologize to Chuck. He did all of this in two days."
"Why did he wait so long to get started?" Casey retorted.
"Because he didn't know exactly where to start," Carina explained. "Once he did, it took no time to find Freddy, and show him how stupid he had been with his money and how easy it was to track. He was begging to turn himself in. Dude literally drove from Vegas…also he'd like to be reimbursed for renting the car."
"I'll see what I can-"
Carina dropped her hand on Casey's thigh and squeezed. "He'd like to be reimbursed," she said softly, squeezing the hand on his thigh, and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with the other.
"Done," Casey told her. He looked over at Freddy and back to Carina. "You seem to know him and probably are better at dealing with him than I am, you wanna help?"
"Maybe," Carina replied. "What's in it for me?"
"What do you want?" Casey asked. Zondra's eyes widened, as Chuck and Sarah turned away trying not to laugh.
"Come with me to Thanksgiving," Carina told him. Casey paused, thinking. "I mean, you are single, right?"
"It's not that, it's I might be busy with this case," Casey admitted. "We want Sammy asap."
"Then you owe me a date if you can't," Carina told him.
"What if I owe you one either way?" Casey countered.
"Deal," Carina told him. The two slid out of the seat and headed over to Freddy.
"What the hell did I just witness?" Sarah asked, the three of them laughing their heads off.
"You getting your life back," Zondra told her.
"Listen, I don't know how to thank you-" Sarah began.
"Sarah…Carina and I like you, we think of you as part of our little group." Zondra glanced at Chuck. "Plus, you've seemed to pull our boy's head out of his ass."
Sarah smiled shyly. "Thank you," she told Zondra.
Zondra nodded, and slid out of the booth. She walked over to Carina and Casey, talking to Freddy.
"How's it feel?" Chuck asked.
Sarah shrugged. "Not sure," she admitted. "It's not like I've thought about this guy." She smiled at him. "Thank you, Chuck. Now, all I have to do is find somewhere to live."
"Me too," Chuck said with a laugh. "Want me to help you?" Sarah just grinned at him and nodded.
A/N: Yup double chapter.
Sarah and Emma found themselves standing back, watching. Thanksgiving had always been just the three of them. They would watch the parade, have a few snacks for lunch, and have a nice calm Thanksgiving dinner, just the three of them. It was nice. It was quiet. If they were honest, it was a bit boring.
They weren't sure what to expect at Thanksgiving at the Bartowski's, but it sure as hell wasn't boring. First, there were the actual Bartowskis and Devon. Then there was Carina and Zondra, but what really threw them both was the extra chair at the table that everyone seemed to be glancing at nervously.
Chuck made his way into the dining room and paused, looking at the empty chair. Sarah saw everyone stop what they were doing and watch Chuck.
"Hey, mom," Chuck called out. As he turned toward the kitchen everyone quickly went back to what they were doing.
"Yes, dear," Mary asked, coming into the dining room.
"I think I can find better ways to remember Morgan than us having an empty chair at Thanksgiving," he said softly. His mother smiled, took his face in her hands, went up on her tiptoes, and kissed his forehead.
"Morgan's death really rocked him," Emma said softly to Sarah, as she rubbed her daugther's arm. "How are you doing?" Sarah turned to her. "It's your first Thanksgiving without your dad."
"I mean, I miss him, but mom, he was in so much pain…" she trailed off and let out a sigh.
"He was," Emma agreed. "I love him, I always will. I miss him, but it was merciful."
The two felt a pair of arms around their shoulders. They both turned to see a smiling Ellie Bartowski. "You two okay?" They both nodded. "Well, just so you know, a Bartowski Thanksgiving is a lot. There's enough food to feed fourteen families at least, and anyone is welcomed."
"You're too good to us, Ellie," Emma said sincerely.
Ellie shook her head. "No, we're just glad to have you as a part of our lives."
"Sarah, Emma," Carina called out. "You might want to see this." The three headed into the living room, where the whole family was gathered around the TV. On one of the news channels, a man, in cuffs, was being led to a police car.
"For those of you just joining us," an announcer said. "Salvadore Armone, aka Little Sammy, has just been arrested on multiple counts of fraud, racketeering, and other charges. Seven other associates of Mr Armone have also been taken into custody at this time."
Chuck looked over at Carina, who was grinning and typing something on her phone. "Just so you know, Emma," Carina began. Emma looked over at her. "Marshall Casey said to tell you, 'It's over.'"
"Then, that's it," Emma said, looking at Sarah. "We truly never have to worry again?"
"When Little Sammy called his lawyer, he didn't show," Carina told them. "That lawyer is his father's lawyer. A mob lawyer. He's been practically excommunicated."
"What keeps him from flipping on his family?" Chuck asked.
"He'd be dead in hours," Carina told Chuck. Chuck blanched. "That's what Casey said, not me." She was pointing at the phone. "He'll be here soon…if that's alright?"
"Is he your date, Carina?" Mary asked, grinning at the redhead. Carina nodded. "Then of course he's welcome. Okay, so we all have a lot to be thankful for, let's eat!"

A few hours later, Chuck pushed himself off of the couch. "Son, you don't have to," Mary said. Everyone was nearly passed out from the turkey and food overdose.
"Nope, I've got to," Chuck said. "Besides, Dad is snoring too loud to hear the game anyway." Mary began to chuckle. He felt a hand grab his and looked back at Sarah. "Wanna join me?"
Sarah hesitated. "He's going to get the Christmas stuff out of the attic," Mary told her. "You aren't at work, so you don't have to."
"Oh, thanks!" Zondra said, wiping her eyes. She reached into her pocket, pulled out an envelope, and handed it to Sarah. "We just got it yesterday and with everything going on, I forgot to pay you."
Sarah happily accepted the envelope, opened it, and her eyes widened. "Did you take out taxes?"
"Yep," Chuck told her. "Is it not enough?"
"Not enough?" Sarah asked. "Chuck it is way too much!"
"Hang on," Zondra cut in. "Carina and I decided on how much we were paying you, not Curls. And you earned it, you've done a lot of hard labor, and you've helped design things, so, if you're gonna work for us, you have to learn to accept your share."
"I guess she told you," Chuck told her. Sarah swatted at him as he took off. She followed after him and the two headed to the attic. "Thanks for helping."
"Uh, thanks for saving my life," Sarah countered.
"Well, let's be honest, you kinda helped save mine, with your little speech a few days ago," Chuck muttered, scratching the back of his head.
"I'm gonna need your help, Chuck." They entered the attic and Chuck hit the light, leading her over to the Christmas decorations. "I want to get some people stuff for Christmas but I don't know what to buy them."
"So you're asking me to go shopping with you?" Chuck asked. "Sarah Walker, I know your game."
"My game? I have no idea where you're going with this one."
"Oh, you're going to make me go shopping with you so you can see what I'm buying you for Christmas," he told her, as he got one of the totes down from the shelf.
"Chuck, you don't have to buy me anything for Christmas," Sarah told him. Chuck turned to her, confusion on his face. "I mean you can, but you don't have to."
"Well, you don't have to buy me anything for Christmas either," he countered.
"But I'm going to," she told him, smiling angelically. "I need to buy something for my best friend…my guy friend…my rock," she added softly.
He put the tote down, walked over and took both of her hands in his. "I'm sorry, I should have asked earlier, how are you? How are you taking this?"
She gave him a warm smile. "I miss him, I do, but he went through so much at the end…like I said, I have my rock." He dropped one of her hands as he pointed to himself questioningly and she nodded.
"Sooooo….I'm your best rock?"
"Yup!" she replied, laughing. He started to turn back to the totes, when the hand still held in hers got tugged. He spun back toward her as she kissed him. When she let go, she looked up. He did as well, thinking there must be mistletoe there. "Huh, no mistletoe."
"Did you think there was?" he asked, very confused, as she grabbed one of the totes and headed downstairs.
"Nope," she replied, and kept walking.
"I am so far in over my head," he muttered to himself, smiling. He grabbed a tote and followed behind her.
A/N: Next time:
"If you two could stop flirting, we're trying to take a happy family picture, damn it." The smile on Mary's face and happiness in her voice let them both know she was saying all of this in fun.
"Flirting?" Chuck asked.
"He's not that good at it, Mary. He needs practice," Sarah chirped up. The flash went off, and Mary went to look at the digital image.
"Chuck," Mary said, her shoulders slumping. "Listen, dear, I know she's beautiful and you're a little in shock about the whole thing, but do you think you can look at the camera and not stare at her?" Chuck's mouth opened to protest. "And before you ask, Sarah, yes, I'll send you a copy of this one, as well as the one of you and Chuck in front of the Christmas tree."
