Hullo lovelies! Happy New Year!
I know I said I was taking a break, and that I would post all of the part II chapters at once, but it seems I cannot contain my excitement, and thus, here we are. I am going to post the first two chapters tonight! (The rest of the chapters will be much, much longer than these two I promise.) This is also due to all of your lovely reviews as they've made me really happy!
There are thirteen chapters, and they are all from different points of view...and just because you have seen a character in one chapter, does not mean they won't show up again. And there will be some overlap in the chapters when it comes to certain characters.
Please leave a review and let me know what you think x

Part II: The In-between
"I was in the middle,
before I knew that I had begun."
- Jane Austen

Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire, UK

The pungent floral aroma from the vast, blooming gardens blew into the massive room; forcing its way in. Harsh, laboured pants punctuated the space.
Narcissa Malfoy was positioned at the bottom of the excessive large bed—it was custom and thus larger than a king.
Narcissa was resting back against her husband's chest, her hands on her knees as she curled forward. Lucius brushed the damp hair that had escaped her updo off her sweaty, flushed face.
It was the most unkempt Lucius had ever seen his wife, and she'd used more colourful, creative profanity in the past hour than she had over the entire duration of their courtship.
Traditionally, men were kept outside of the birthing room, but Narcissa had screamed bloody murder at the top of her lungs and insisted on having her husband present.
The mediwitch whose shoulders Narcissa's feet were braced against clearly didn't approve, but she hadn't uttered a peep to the contrary. She was an older woman with chestnut brown curls, and fierce eyes. A large basin of piping hot water and several towels were on the floor beside her feet.
"Deep breaths, Missus Malfoy, you're almost there." The mediwitch said reassuringly, her head was ducked between the birthing Mother's legs, and she peered at Narcissa Malfoy's privacy. The baby's head was crowning.
Lucius pressed a kiss to Narcissa's temple and whispered, "you're doing splendidly, dear."
For the briefest of moments, Narcissa's chest was hollowed out, and her mind was fuzzy, her thoughts blurry. Then, another excruciating wave of pain crested, and the witch screamed and with the encouragement of the mediwitch, she pushed as hard as she could.
The world tipped on its head, and Narcissa stopped screaming and pushing when she ran out of breath. A sharper cry carried on from where she left off. Narcissa sagged back against her husband, exhausted, and filled with delirious delight.
The mediwitch did what she had to, cast a few spells, and wiped down the babe with a warm, wet cloth before handing the wailing newborn to his Mother.
The babe stuttered to a stop the moment he was passed to his Mother, who instantly cradled him to her bosom. She gazed down at his scrunched, pink face with unconditional love and adoration blooming in her chest. She would do anything for him.
"He's beautiful," Lucius said. His mouth was against her temple, and one hand came around to cautiously stroke the top of her hand.
"Draco."
"What?"
"That's what we're going to call him."
They'd briefly discussed names, but that one was not on the list. Lucius thought their son should have a strong name honouring the union of their Ancient and Noble Houses. Narcissa wanted to honour her family tradition whilst following the same vein of thought.
"Draco?"
"That is his name. Draco Abraxas Malfoy."
And so, a dragon was born.
