Hi, there! I've recently recovered my passion for writing and thought it would be cool to add some stories to the yuri fandom. I hope you enjoy this one :D

Feline Instantiations and Other Dorkish Shots

Minty Secrets

Filled with skepticism, Catra's eyes followed Adora as if she were the source of every single one of her burdens.

And of course, she was; she had to be. After all, it had been days since the blonde had started to plot against her. The brunette had noticed one day, during her morning playtime with Melog, that her lover had been sneaking out of the castle without a word. While she had tried to be reasonable about it and respect her privacy, she couldn't help noticing that the event had become a habit. As soon as Catra departed with her magical friend, Adora would set foot in the opposite direction to return some minutes before they came back.

At first, she had tried to think of the situation as one of those things that shouldn't bother her. She knew Adora loved her, and she was still determined to work on her anger issues. So, she set the issue in the furthest corner of her mind, until another playtime cut short took her steps to an adoraless castle a month later. That time she had been worried. What was so serious that Adora didn't feel comfortable telling her? Was she in trouble? Did a lunatic plan to resurrect The Horde? Did Kyle, Rogelio, and Loonie need help to redecorate their house? Nothing and absolutely everything seemed to be a plausible case. That was how she decided to ask Bow.

If she had learned something from the last year living with them was that Bow couldn't keep a secret; unless, of course, it was about Glimmer. The dude was still slightly afraid of her, which she had mixed feelings about, and his devotion for absolutely everything just made it hard for him to say no to anyone; unless, of course, it was about bothering Glimmer. Scratching her cheek lazily, she started looking for the archer. It was only 8 am, but she had the theory that the boy lived in a secret chamber behind a painting in his Queen's bedroom. She had decided to prove it once she could solve her current issue.

She found him in the dining; luckily for her, he was alone. That was the perfect excuse to get the intel she sought.

"So, lonely breakfast, huh?" She tried to sound natural, but the slow motion he used to turn his gaze in her direction made her doubt. Little did she know the himbo was barely awake.

"Do you want some?" He said while his hand offered her the last cinnamon roll on the table. She took it while forcing a smile, and he seemed to glow for a second.

"So, it seems like Sparkles and Adora went on a little trip. I wonder what they'll bring for us," Bow yawned, and trying to stretch his body in the process, he replied leisurely.

"Oh, Glimmer's just doing paperwork. Adora went to her or..." And then, "BOW!" a hand materialized to cover his mouth. The newly appeared owner of the hand looked annoyed, and her victim seemed to be jumping in his chair.

Catra observed them, knowing she wasn't going to get any info there. They knew something, so why didn't she? What could or even be? An orch party? An orchestra? An organization of dork blondes who liked cats? Damn it.

Another month passed, and the experience from that failure made her conclude that the only effective and reasonable thing to do was to get an answer from Adora herself. That was exactly why her mismatched eyes had been piercing her roommate's back, chasing her from afar.

She didn't know when the other would stop, and she almost prayed she wouldn't feel her stare. She was trying to use the trees as a cover and a way to move incognito. It had been a while since the last time she had done anything like that. The idea of how much her life had changed made her resolution falter, and she wondered whether she should turn away. She knew it was already too late when the taller woman stopped all of a sudden.

Catra was confused, in shock even. There was absolutely nothing there; there was absolutely no one there. The only single thing she saw was her beautiful partner standing still in a green field. It wasn't a sunny day or anything, but she was there in the middle of nowhere staring at a small patch of lilac flowers. Was that it? Did Adora sneak out to chill in a minigarden? Was she suffocating her? I mean, I just followed her here...

Her eyes started to flood, and her legs threatened to break apart. She felt her body convulsing in unstoppable shakes. Why do I have to be so...? but before she knew it, her feet abandoned the tree giving her mental rambling a full-stop.

This was embarrassing. Not only she had spent months acting like a weirdo, but also she had started falling from damn trees, for cat's sake! She didn't have time to evaluate the situation when she heard a very concerned voice a couple of meters from her.

"Catra? You okay?" She wasn't. She didn't want Adora's worried eyes looking at her with utter devotion when she had just been messing up again. She remained speechless for what could have been an eternity holding her knees while the blonde approached her. She wasn't ready to explain. The only thing that could make her feel worse was the thought of the poor Melog back home.

"Catra, what's going on?" She felt Adora's warmth right next to her; it burnt her skin. She was suddenly drowning in the conflicting ideas that pushed her to curl on the other's lap and the ones that were just dreaming of her feet running wild far far away from there. "I look out for you, and you look out for me, remember?"

The feline let a couple of tears escape her orbs and took a full breath hoping that calm would enter with the air. That phrase had always meant the world to her; it was so powerful that it had impossible to resist the urge to find Adora's eyes.

She didn't find a single trace of annoyance at the fact that she had just popped out of a tree in her me time. Adora loved her, she really did. She wanted to scream her lungs out. The truth was that she couldn't help loving her back.

"I noticed you had been missing in the mornings and I followed you here" The utterance was soaked in guilt, and she fought the urge to look away. She wasn't sure how Adora would react. She seemed to be making sure she wasn't hurt physically. When she finally met her eyes again, she looked relieved. "Shouldn't you be mad?"

"Why? You're safe, and now we're here together" The blonde softly used her arm to bring her girlfriend closer. She knew the whole situation was more complicated for Catra than it was for her. Sure, she hadn't been expecting her there, but she had admitted to herself long ago that she would always feel happier when Catra was beside her.

"I thought you wanted to escape me" Adora seemed confused. The only reason why she had chosen that time of the day to go to the field was that she knew it was when Catra was out. In that way, she didn't have to miss her wild hair that much. Before she could decide whether it was okay to say that out loud, Catra continued. "I know you need some time for yourself, I was just worried you didn't tell me anything" She took another deep breath. "Again, not like you have to. I just wondered if you would be able to tell me if you don't want to see me."

Adora's head was spinning. Catra had always had this magical ability to say things that affected her to the core. While she tried to avoid diving into the deep crumbs of her mental ruckus, it always seemed like her lover found her way there. She wanted to hold her until she was convinced she wasn't avoiding her in any way. For this, she had to be blunt.

"Can I hug you?" The question came more genuine and determined than anything she had ever asked. Catra seemed a little taken aback by it, but she just nodded without uttering a word.

Adora embraced her and placed a kiss on her forehead. "I want you with me." She held her a little tighter and left a kiss on Catra's cheek, "I want you with me." Her voice echoed in Catra's mind, but she didn't move. Soft kisses traveled over her head, accompanied by Adora's gentle words spoken every single time. The air felt like velvet, and the warmth that filled her chest lulled her in a way she could have never imagined. She cupped Adora's face and kissed her lips with dedication.

The kiss was intense and loving. They were so close that their heartbeats danced together. Adora's thoughts were stranded in the foggy space that was her mind at the moment. She wanted Catra so much, but she couldn't let the issue go until she knew she understood her feelings for her.

With her eyes still closed and every ounce of willpower in her body, the blonde caressed the feline's cheek, and with a chaste smooch took enough space to talk to her lover. She was still hugging her, and the sensation made her wanna sigh, but she decided this was more important than anything.

"I love you" She smiled, she couldn't help it. "I always have, and I'm pretty sure I always will" Catra followed her with such concentration, that she didn't realize a smile had adorned her lips as well. "Everything feels so right when I'm with you that it's hard for me to imagine a moment when I don't want you by my side." Flashbacks of the time they were enemies tore her heart a little bit, but again, she couldn't lose focus. "If for some reason, I needed or wanted to be apart from you, I would tell you." She paused for a moment, and a lighter mood seemed to flood her. It filled her with joy to see Catra's reaction. She was calm, and soft purrs came out of her when she caressed her hair.

"I would like you to feel free to ask me anything. You should know I can't lie to you anyway."

"What's this place?" Adora blushed furiously, and Catra shot her a suspicious look. "It's okay if you don't want to tell me. Sparkles almost killed Bow for trying to tip me." Poor Bow.

Adora stood up, taking Catra's hand with her. They walked to the small flower patch where the blonde had been standing a while ago. The brunette realized there weren't any other flowers around; the whole place was more of an orchard than a flower field. Orchard... definitely not an organization of dorkish blondes. She facepalmed, and when she removed her hand from her face, a beautiful wildflower appeared in front of her.

The herb had a long stalk full of leaves that reminded her of mint. The top of the stem was covered in small flowers pining up to the top with a liliaceous color. She had never seen something like that. She tried to take a quick sniff, but the second the smell entered her nostrils, she burst into laughter. Adora seemed bewildered by this but didn't say a word. Perfuma had mentioned that this could happen. She just didn't think it would be so literal. Catra was ecstatic.

"Hey, Adora." And now, she was pinned to the ground. She gulped at the sight of her lover's smile. The cat looked so amused that her gaze was sending shivers down her spine. Adora felt excited, nervous, and expecting. Everything had changed too rapidly for her to catch up. "I was thinking I should also tell you how I feel"

"Oh, yeah... sure!" Adora let out a soft giggle while Catra looked at both sides repeatedly. "If you're hunting, I swear to G..." and just like that, Catra licked Adora's lower lip before she could finish. The blonde's eyes widened. She tried pushing the other back to take revenge, but she was no match. If Adora couldn't outrun normal Catra, she couldn't even dream of catching this wild cat. Of course, it didn't mean she wasn't going to try.

They spent hours chasing each other until the point none of them knew who the huntress was. Sometimes they would push each other to the ground, and other times they would start making out in a random spot of the huge orchard. From time to time, Catra would climb a tree to startle Adora. The latter one would thank her for the short break before trying to bring her down. A long time had passed since the last time they had played like that. Adora wished they could keep playing, but she was already getting tired. On the other hand, Catra looked like she could run to the other side of Etheria without breaking a sweat. The blonde had decided, much to her discomfort, that she would talk to Perfuma about the whole thing.

"Catra, where are you?!" 1, 2, 3...

"Hey, Adora." Her voice right behind her ear made her forget what she was going to say. "Where do you want me to be?" That was it. Nobody was going back to the castle now.

"So, you spent hours playing to the cat and the mouse?"

"Yeah, basically" Scorpia's tone was so innocent that she almost felt bad for not telling them the whole thing. Unfortunately, her girlfriend wasn't that gullible. Perfuma's grin made her blush and scratch her neck. It was unfair Catra wasn't there with her.

"Well, it seems your catnip is too strong. Maybe because Catra isn't exactly a cat." The plant princess placed a hand in her chin like meditating on what to say next. "Maybe, you should try making some tea with the herb."

"Are you sure it will work?"

"Well, if the results are the same as the last time, perhaps Catra wasn't that affected by the mint but by someone else." She said someone, didn't she? "You'll only know when you try it." Perfuma winked, and Adora wished she could disappear. Note to self: Perfuma was pure evil.

"So... that's what happened last night." A flustered Adora watched her girlfriend's reaction to what she had just said.

"You made a garden just for me." A mischievous smile adorned Catra's face. "Wow, you're such a dork." Adora slammed her body softly against her companion's with a big smile.

"Shut up. Do you want some tea or not?"

"Are you going to cry my name inside the castle?" Adora's jaw opened a couple of times, but before she could recover from her mental crash, Catra flipped an empty cup.

The blonde looked at her partner's raised eyebrow, and her mind echoed "If the results are the same as the last time, perhaps Catra wasn't that affected by the mint but by someone else." She couldn't wait to find out.

Catnip, a type of catmint, is an herb that stimulates felines' behavior. The results vary from cat to cat, but in most cases it increases their activity and eagerness to play.
