REVIEW REPLIES:

Milenialreader: I don't intend on discontinuing this story, even if it takes me an entire month to update! I'm really glad that you enjoyed this story, and I promise that I'll try my best to get all the way to the end! Thank you so much!

Riordanfanf: Thanks! And who knows, maybe I will

DaughterofHecate: Hey there! I know what you mean about wanting to be a daughter of Hades, lol. I want to be a daughter of Hades as well, but I'm probably more of an Athena or an Apollo kid. And yeah, I kinda guessed that Hecate's your favourite goddess Don't worry, I was actually planning on something similar! That scene will probably show up in the next one or two chapters! AND I KNOW, RIGHT? WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE HUNTERS?(except all males, of course). I've often wished that I could join the Hunters as well, tbh. Also, Fries before guys is my new motto ! Yes, I survived(somehow). I can relate to the moody sister thing(even though my sister isn't a teenager) and I hope that your 12-hour roadtrip wasn't completely unbearable! Also… ouch, that test thing sounds… ouch. But really? Genetic codes? I did not have any of that in 7nth grade. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy this chapter, even though it's super short!

Artemis rolled her eyes at his attempt at conversation, "Girls," she announced, "Meet your newest member.

Nico expected to be killed on the spot.

He also expected a lot of yelling, maybe even stabbing! You could never be sure with girls.

What did happen was even weirder.

They started grinning.

One of them walked up to him and asked Artemis, "Ooh! Do we show him around camp before, or after we turn him into a jackelope?"

Another asked, "Don't be ridiculous! He's obviously going to be turned into a hunting dog, or a wolf of some sort. We already have lots of jackelopes."

Artemis chuckled, "Girls, he's not being transfigured into any animals."

"So are we going to kill him in human form then, my Lady?" asked a girl with long black hair.

Artemis shook her head, "No, he's joining the hunt as an honorary member."

Silence. Complete silence.

The black haired girl let out a hesitant chuckle, "Pardon, my lady? For a minute I thought that you said that the boy would be joining us as a hunter."

"I did say that." Artemis said calmly.

Nico watched awkwardly as protests filled the air.

"But-"

"You can't be serious!"

"Lalala! I'm dreaming! This is not happening!"

Artemis cleared her throat, and the protests died down immediately(one of the perks of being a goddess apparently).

"I have allowed this boy to join the hunt because of a special request from Hades himself."

"Hades?"

"But-"

"Why him?"

"My lasagna's going to get cold!"

Nico didn't really know what to make of that last one.

"This is Nico di Angelo, son of Hades," Artemis explained, gesturing towards him, "As you know, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades swore not to have anymore children, so a living child of the lord of the Underworld is quite a problem."

Cue more uneasy murmurs.

"Hades himself begged me to let his son join the Hunt, in order to spare him from Zeus' wrath." Nico tried his best to ignore how smug she sounded when she said that, "And as the protector of young children, it would be unjust of me to let the boy die for something beyond his control, so I agreed to let him join."

"But my lady," the black-haired girl spoke up hesitantly, "A male among our ranks goes against our entire philosophy! So many of us here joined the Hunt to get away from boys, how would we- I mean they feel if they had to live with one?"

Artemis sighed, "Zoe, your concerns are perfectly valid, but Hades has given his word that Nico here won't get up to any ah.. funny business . Besides, if it helps, I have been informed that females aren't really his type."

Nico wasn't sure how to feel about people just casually throwing that around recently, but seeing as some of the Hunters had stopped glaring at him and were now sighing in relief, he decided that he could let it slide, just this once.

"He won't be sharing a tent with any of you either, so no need to worry about that. He will help out whenever he is asked to do so, and will not be exempt from any of our activities. I know that the hunt is meant for females only, but please, try not to kill him in the first week. I do not want to explain to Hades that his son was killed so soon." she called over her shoulder walking over to a large tent a bit farther away from the other, smaller tents.

"So..." he trailed off awkwardly," Nice to meet you?" he said uncertainly, extending a hand.

The black haired girl at the front of the group glared at his hand as though it had personally offended her, "I can't believe we're doing this." she grumbled.

"Zoe Nightshade, Lieutenant of Artemis." she introduced herself curtly, completely ignoring his extended hand.

"This is Phoebe, our best hunter and tracker," she gestured to a girl with a build similar to a wrestler's and ginger hair, "Naomi and Celyn, my... I suppose thou would use the term advisors. Over there, we have Hemithea and Josephine." she pointed towards two girls standing closer together than was strictly necessary. Thankfully, those two seemed far more welcoming than the other Hunters.

Zoe, who despite looking only a few years older than him, towered over his short frame. This, unfortunately, made her ferocious snarl seem even more intimidating.

"Listen boy," she spat out, as though 'boy' was the worst insult she could think of, "Artemis asked us not to kill you, but that doesn't mean that we don't despise your presence here with every fiber of our being. Or it is beings... Anyway, just leave us alone, and thou should survive the next few years." she hissed, marching away.

The other three girls who had been flanking Zoe raced after her, probably trying to calm her down before she burnt down half of the campsite.

The two girls who had been standing off to the side earlier, Hemithea and Josephine, walked up to him, looking a lot less homicidal than their sisters.

"Don't mind Zoe." said the one with short, curly black hair sympathetically, "She just really hates boys."

"Not that you can blame her." chimed in Hemithea, tossing her long, brown braid over her shoulder, "After what happened with him-"

Josephine cleared her throat, "Anyway, welcome to the hunt. We were supposed to give you this tent," she thrust a small, silvery tent into his arms" You can set it up somewhere near that stream. That's all for now, so, we'll see you around, I guess." she said, dragging Hemithea away before he could even respond.

As Nico trudged away from the rest of the camp to an isolated area near the stream, which was probably used for supplying fresh water, he couldn't help but wonder how he was supposed to survive for even a month with these male-hating, pre-pubescent girls. There was no way he'd survive here for years.

I'm doomed.

A.N:

*sheepish chuckle*

Well... Happy New Year!

Sorry for the delay, but I really wasn't sure how to phrase this chapter, you know?

Sorry about how short it is, but this chapter is mainly meant to set the scene for the next chapter, where all of the good stuff happens.

Also, according to Riordan Wiki, Josephine and Hemithea left the Hunters in 1987, so since this takes place sometime in the 1940's or the 1950's they'd still be here.

Hopefully that chapter wasn't too bland.

My next update will probably be in another month, so until then!

As usual, please review!
