Hello. Goodbye.

SIDE NOTE: If you haven't seen, I have started a new story based on another telenovela called Tierra de Reyes so if you're interested, check it out. I'm gonna try to update that tomorrow^^

I OWN NOTHING.

''What happened to you, Sayo? Help me! Sesshomaru!'' Rin screamed as loud as she could until she had to cough from the smoke filling the stables. ''I won't leave you, Sayo. I promise.'' Rin cried and pulled Sayo into her lap before she finally passed out.

Rin's eyes slowly opened when she felt the aroma of alcohol going up her nose causing her to groan.

''Are you alright, my love?'' Sesshomaru questioned.

Rin looked up and noticed Sesshomaru had his arms around her and everyone in the living room looking down at her but the only thing she cared about was when she saw Sayo laying down on the couch across from her. ''I'm fine but I'm worried about Sayo.''

''She's gonna be fine,'' Sesshomaru assured her. ''Thank God you're okay, honey. You don't know how afraid I was of losing you. I love you, I love you.'' Sesshomaru planted desperate kisses all over her face causing Sara and Kohaku who to watch with rage flowing inside of them.

''Sayo's waking up,'' Sango announced to everyone.

Rin pulled herself from Sesshomaru's embrace and looked over at Sayo. ''How do you feel, Sayo? Do you want some water?''

''Why am I here?'' Sayo questioned.

''The stable caught fire, Sayo,'' Rin informed her.

''How do you feel, Sayo? Do you need anything?'' Sesshomaru asked.

''Thank you. I'm fine,'' Sayo assured everyone with a smile. ''I'm so embarrassed to be here worrying you again.''

''Tell me something, Miss, how did the fire start in the stable?'' Kohaku asked.

''I don't know. When I got in there it smelled like gas, but someone hit me and that's the last thing I remember,'' Sayo answered.

Sesshomaru and Kohaku threw knowing looks at each other.

''I'll take you to one of the rooms, so you can stay here tonight,'' Rin said.

''No, no, thank you. I don't want to bother you anymore,'' Sayo declined the offer. ''I'd better go back to Father Jaken's house.''

''I won't let you go until I'm sure you're fine, Sayo,'' Sesshomaru told her.

''I'm fine. It was a small blow, I'd better leave,'' Sayo insisted.

''Fine,'' Sesshomaru relented. ''I'll take you to Father Jaken's house myself then. Let's go.'' Sesshomaru helped Sayo up and led her outside to his truck.

''I'll wait for you,'' Rin told Sesshomaru. He nodded and smiled back at her.

About an hour later, everyone had gone to bed except for Rin who was still waiting for her husband when Kohaku stepped through the patio door.

''Are you sure you're okay, my love?'' Kohaku questioned her.

''I'm fine. You should go to bed,'' Rin responded to him.

''What about you?'' Kohaku asked.

''I'm waiting for my husband,'' Rin answered.

''I was so afraid tonight. I thought I was going to lose you,'' Kohaku told her. ''If you had died, I would have followed you.''

''You should go,'' Rin turned away from him and heard his footsteps depart after a moment of silence. Immediately after, Sesshomaru walked in through the front door. ''Is Sayo alright?''

Sesshomaru nodded. ''Come with me to my office.''

Rin looked at Sesshomaru's back with worry before following after him.

''I want you to have something,'' Sesshomaru told her and pulled a key out of his desk. ''This key opens the top drawer where I keep cash in case the workers need it, for materials, and things like that. You can use any of it you want and you don't have to tell me what it's for. There's only two keys and I want you to have one. As a way to show my trust in you.''

Rin looked at Sesshomaru with wide eyes and a heavy heart.

The next afternoon, Rin and Sesshomaru had just finished lunch when Rin went to her room to freshen up and found a surprise waiting for her.

''Good afternoon, ma'am,'' Sayo beamed at Rin from the other side of the room.

''Sayo!'' Rin exclaimed and ran into her arms.

''Sesshomaru hired me back! He said you missed me too much,'' Sayo smiled.

Rin's eyes filled with tears. ''Oh, Sayo! I'm so sorry! It was all my fault and I wasn't even brave enough to fix it.''

''Oh, please, ma'am. Everything is fine now,'' Sayo rubbed circles on Rin's back in comfort.

''I missed you so much!'' Rin cried.

''I missed you too,'' Sayo laughed.

''May I enter?'' Sesshomaru called from the other side of the door before opening it.

Rin smiled brightly at him before launching herself into his arms and planting a deep kiss on his lips. ''Oh, Sesshomaru, I don't know how to thank you enough for this!''

''Your kisses are a great place to start,'' Sesshomaru smirked causing Rin to laugh. ''Well, I have to go into town. I haven't heard from Inuyasha and I'm worried. I'll be back in just a few hours. Behave yourself,'' Sesshomaru teased his wife and let her down to the floor.

''Always,'' Rin smiled and watched her husband leave.

''Things seemed to be going rather well..'' Sayo hinted.

''Oh, Sayo, I'm falling in love with him more every day!'' Rin sighed happily and sat down on her couch with Sayo.

''So everything is great then?'' Sayo assumed.

Rin frowned. ''Not yet. I still have one more problem to handle.''

Later that day, Rin carefully made her way to the foreman's house, making sure no one would see her go in. She found Kohaku sitting at his desk.

''Are you alone?'' Rin asked him.

''Yes, why?'' Kohaku questioned.

''I convinced my brother to let you go. He won't talk to Sesshomaru if you leave,'' Rin explained.

''You look very happy,'' Kohaku sneered.

Rin looked away. ''It's for the best, Kohaku. This situation is getting out of hand. Yes, you should leave.''

''You don't love me anymore, do you?'' Kohaku feared.

''There's no point in talking about that anymore,'' Rin sighed.

''I asked you a question, answer me!'' Kohaku demanded. ''Don't you love me anymore?''

Rin's eyes filled with tears. ''You will always be in here,'' Rin pointed to her heart. ''..As the first man I loved.''

''You have no idea how comforting your words are,'' Kohaku scoffed. ''But you still prefer Sesshomaru, right?''

''He is my husband!'' Rin reminded him.

''He was your husband when you told me you loved me, when-when you were willing to run away with me!'' Kohaku exclaimed causing Rin to cry. ''Forgive me, my love. I'm sorry but what do I do? What do I do with all the love I have for you? Because you are the love of my life and you always will be. I can't leave tonight, but don't worry, I will probably be gone by tomorrow at this hour.''

''I hope so. Good night,'' Rin whimpered and headed for the door.

''No, no, no,'' Kohaku pulled her back and held her face in his hands. ''Let me look at you. At least let me-let me give you one last kiss, please-'' ''No, Kohaku.''

Kohaku looked at Rin with pain in his eyes and nodded. ''Very well. I won't hold it against you but I want you to know, you've hurt me. I have-this heart that I have right here is broken because of you. It's your fault.''

''Where will you go?'' Rin asked.

''United States,'' Kohaku answered. ''It's too dangerous here, I'm a fugitive, remember?''

''Do you think they're still looking for you?'' Rin questioned.

''That's my problem,'' Kohaku responded. ''At least, I know I'm leaving you with a good guy. It's surprising, isn't it? But that's what I think. Sesshomaru is a good man.''

''Will you say goodbye to him?'' Rin asked.

''No,'' Kohaku shook his head.

''That's probably for the best,'' Rin agreed. ''I've been away for too long, I should go back.''

''Rin, remember these words. No one, absolutely no one, will ever love you like I love you,'' Kohaku told her.

''I know!'' Rin cried and hugged him tightly. ''Goodbye. Goodbye forever, Kohaku.''

''Goodbye, my love,'' Kohaku choked on his words.

Rin whimpered and pulled away to go back to the ranch, leaving Kohaku behind.
