Sesshomaru and Rin returned home after riding for a few hours and right before they walked through the front door, Sesshomaru threw his wife over his shoulder causing her to laugh.
''Sesshomaru!''
Sesshomaru just smirked with amusement, ready to take his wife to the room they now shared when a voice interrupted them as they walked through the door.
''Rin.''
Sesshomaru set his wife down. Rin looked behind her and saw Kagome in their living room with Kya and her aunt, Sakura.
''Kagome!'' Rin exclaimed with excitement and ran to hug her best friend. ''What a surprise!''
''Oh, friend,'' Kagome smiled. ''I'm the one that's surprised to see you so happy. I'm really happy for you.''
''Thanks,'' Rin's smile slipped from her face when she looked over at Kya. ''I didn't expect this, Kya. Do you remember her, my love? We invited her to our wedding.''
''Yes, of course,'' Sesshomaru nodded. ''It's a pleasure to see you again, Kya. Welcome.''
''Thank you,'' Kya didn't make eye contact with anyone.
''I imagine you're here about Tohru,'' Sesshomaru assumed. ''Well, I'll leave you three alone so you can talk. Excuse me.''
''Thank you, my love,'' Rin pressed a kiss to her husband's cheek before he left to go to his home office. ''Sit down, please. Did you offer them something to drink, aunt?''
''Yes, dear, we were out on the patio until we heard you returning,'' Sakura shared.
''Kya...I don't even know what to say to you,'' Rin sighed. ''You don't know how outraged I am and how embarrassed I am for everything my brother did to you.''
''We talked all about it,'' Sakura said. ''What Tohru did to you was vulgar and cowardly.''
''It wasn't your fault, Rin. I came here to talk to Tohru. I don't want to waste anymore time,'' Kya told them.
''What worries me is that your brother might want to hurt my nephew,'' Sakura feared.
''No, don't worry, Ms. Sakura. Shigure doesn't even know I am here,'' Kya informed them.
''Tohru is a coward, just like my brother,'' Kagome sneered. ''They both ran away so they wouldn't have to face Shigure because they're scared of him.''
''Yes, I owe you an apology for not telling you my brother was here, but I only found out what happened when Kagome called me,'' Rin explained.
''Don't worry, Rinny,'' Kya shook her head. ''Kagome explained to me on the way that Tohru threatened to give you lots of trouble with your husband. I really hope that's solved.''
''Yes, luckily, that's over,'' Rin said.
''Well, what about the foreman?'' Kagome questioned. ''I haven't seen him around.''
''Mr. Kon doesn't work here anymore. He left for good,'' Rin responded.
''Thank God,'' Sakura groaned.
''It was for the best,'' Kagome said.
Rin nodded and changed the subject. ''Kya, I'll have Sesshomaru take us to the Michi ranch right now so you can talk to my brother, okay?''
''Please,'' Kya pleaded.
''I don't understand, sir. Why did you have me find Kohaku Mai if you didn't want me to arrest him?'' Kageromaru asked Naraku.
''Because, he's useless to me in jail,'' Naraku smirked. ''Imagine he kills some poor fool just to get a job at a ranch and steal his boss' woman.''
''What woman could be worth that?'' Kageromaru questioned.
''You're asking the wrong question,'' Naraku sneered.
''What is the right question then?'' Kageromaru asked.
''What would said boss do if he found out the truth?'' Naraku chuckled.
''You have visitors,'' One of the Michi's maids informed Haiga, Kata, Tohru, and Mayu.
''Good evening,'' Rin greeted them while having her arms wrapped around Sesshomaru's.
''Good evening,'' Kata returned.
''I'm sorry for the unexpected visit but there's someone who really wants to talk to my brother,'' Rin and Sesshomaru stepped aside for Kya. Tohru sighed in frustration.
''Can someone tell me who this woman is?'' Kata questioned.
''I'm Tohru's wife!'' Kya revealed.
''What?'' The Michi's youngest daughter gasped.
''My love? I'm so sorry you haven't heard from me all day but I've been rather busy,'' Kagome sighed into her cellphone. ''But guess where I am.''
''Where?'' Inuyasha asked.
''At the ranch and I thought maybe you'd like to pay a visit as well,'' Kagome hinted. ''Here, we don't have to hide. It's different.''
''I'll be there first thing tomorrow morning,'' Inuyasha immediately replied.
''Perfect,'' Kagome smiled. ''When you come can you pick something up for me and bring it with you? You have to be very discreet.''
''Sure, what is it?'' Inuyasha asked but when she answered, ''To get what?'' He shouted over the phone.
''Please, Tohru, tell me that's not true!'' Mayu cried.
''Of course, of course it isn't true!'' Tohru denied. ''How could I be married to this-to this thing!''
Kya immediately slapped him. ''You're right, Tohru, you are not my husband!''
''Of course I'm not, see?'' Tohru responded.
''No, you're not my husband because you tricked me! You lied to me, you made me think you were in love with me. You liar. It was all a lie,'' Kya whimpered. ''A fake wedding to use me!''
''And you fell for it, fool,'' Tohru sneered and turned to his sister. ''Satisfied? You opened your big fat mouth, you told her where I was and this maniac put up a show. Did you enjoy it?''
''No, of course I didn't, Tohru. I didn't tell her. Just so you know, your best friend, your dear Souta, betrayed you!'' Rin told him. ''He told Kya where you were hiding and all about your love affair with both of Haiga's daughters.''
''What?'' Mayu questioned.
''You don't know what you're talking about!'' Tohru yelled at his sister.
''Don't I? You tried to seduce Julia first to get her parent's money but she didn't want anything to do with you so you decided to fool the one who actually wanted you, Mayu,'' Rin informed everyone.
Mayu erupted into sobs and ran upstairs causing her mother to run after her while Haiga grabbed Tohru and threw him against the wall.
''Haiga,'' Sesshomaru tried to calm him down.
''You scum,'' Haiga growled.
''I think I better go,'' Tohru chuckled.
''Shut up, you bastard! I want you to get your things and get out of my house, right now,'' Haiga snarled. ''You better never see my daughters again, got it? If you do, you'll regret it.'' Haiga pushed Tohru away.
Tohru smirked until Sesshomaru grabbed him and shoved him towards the entrance of the house. ''I'll send someone to get his things tomorrow.''
''I'm so sorry about about all of this, Haiga,'' Rin apologized. Haiga nodded.
''I'm sorry, Haiga,'' Sesshomaru held his arm out for his wife to take and they all left.
''You have no idea what you've done to me, Tohru,'' Kya told him when the two of them stepped into Sesshomaru's office. ''I can't even go out in public because I've become the laughingstock of Kamakura.''
''It's easy to blame everything on me but what about you? You believed every lie, no matter how absurd it was. You gave me the combination to your safe, Kya!'' Tohru scoffed. ''You should be thankful I'm the one who deceived you because it could have been anybody else-a rapist, a murderer.''
''Think about what you're saying to me, Tohru. You have no idea how much I can hurt you,'' Kya threatened him.
''Is that so? Then, what? You want an apology?'' Tohru questioned. ''Kya, forgive me, please, I don't-I don't know why I do the things I do, I never-I didn't mean to hurt you, please, will you forgive me? Please. Please.''
''You're so cynical, Tohru, cynical,'' Kya glared at him. ''What you did can't be fixed with an apology.''
''Then, how?'' Tohru questioned her.
''Shigure had to take care of some business, but he will come back in a few days,'' Kya warned him. ''And, for your own sake, Tohru, I hope that, by then, our situation has been solved.''
''How?'' Tohru asked.
''One year,'' Kya answered. ''That's all I ask for, Tohru, one year.''
''One year of what?'' Tohru asked.
''My brother and your father want to force you to marry me,'' Kya informed him.
Tohru sighed. ''And?''
''Think about it, Tohru, it's for the best. It's just one year. Our marriage would last one year,'' Kya cried. ''After that year, I promise I'll give you back your freedom.''
''What if I refuse?'' Tohru asked.
''Don't you get it, Tohru? You have no choice,'' Kya reminded him. ''That's what deceiving me will cost you. It's twelve months, Tohru, just twelve, during which I'll make your life-I'll make your life hell and you'll have to put up with me as your wife.''
''Tohru's eyes widened. ''Did you hear what you just said? You want to bring the man that kept you in your house to get revenge? What's wrong with you? That's insane, Kya, what's wrong with you?''
''Fine, Tohru, suit yourself,'' Kya shrugged. ''Let me just warn you that Sesshomaru himself will decide what will happen to you. Anyway, I'll stay on the ranch for a few days, in case you change your mind.'' Kya left him alone in the office.
''What did he say?'' Rin asked Kya as soon as she walked into the living room. Kya shrugged.
''He said no,'' Kagome sighed.
Sesshomaru turned to his wife and spoke to her quietly so no one else could hear them. ''What do you want me to do?''
''Do something, Sesshomaru. Please!'' Rin pleaded. ''He has to change. Next to my dad, you are the best man I've ever met. I know you can get through to him. Put him through hell first if you have to but just do something.''
Sesshomaru's eyes softened. ''I'll talk to him. Either he accepts Kya's offer or he'll be dead in the field from exhaustion.''
Rin nodded and let him go into his office to talk to Tohru. Rin walked over to Kya. ''Sesshomaru will make sure Tohru accepts your offer, Kya. I honestly don't know why you want that jerk though.''
''I know you all think I'm crazy but I just want one opportunity to prove to myself I can win him,'' Kya whimpered.
''I worry he's beyond redemption,'' Rin sighed.
''Let's go outside so you can get some fresh air, sweetie,'' Sakura gestured Kya to come with her.
''Poor thing. I feel so bad for her,'' Rin grimaced when she left.
''We have to convince her, Rinny, so she doesn't marry your brother. It's the worst thing she could do,'' Kagome said.
''Maybe he could change if he falls in love with her,'' Rin suggested.
Kagome scoffed. ''Not to sound pessimistic, but men don't change.''
''Sesshomaru did,'' Rin smiled.
''No, he didn't, friend. He's always been like this. It's just that only now you're starting to see him how he really is,'' Kagome pointed out. ''By the way, you don't know how happy I am to see you doing so well, so in love.''
''Yes. You have no idea how in love I am!'' Rin exclaimed happily. ''Don't forget what I asked you, Kagome. I need you to get it as quickly as possible!''
''Don't worry, I already took care of that, okay? I promise you'll have it tomorrow morning,'' Kagome assured her. Rin squealed happily.
Early the next morning, Rin was sleeping in bed when she heard the shower turn on. She sat up and realized it must be Sesshomaru so she climbed out of bed and stripped naked before stepping into the shower with her husband.
''Sayo, no one's arrived yet?'' Kagome asked Sayo as soon as she woke up.
''Not yet, ma'am,'' Sayo shook her head.
''There's a visitor!'' A worker yelled as he came into the house.
''Oh, he's here!'' Kagome squealed and grinned until she saw her husband step through the door.
''Hello, darling,'' Naraku smirked at his wife. ''I heard you'd come to visit Takashi's ranch for a few days, and I decided to join you. Aren't you so very, very happy to see me, honey?'' Naraku forced a kiss on her lips causing her to scrunch her face in disgust. ''Why do I get the feeling you aren't happy to see me?''
''Would you leave us alone for a moment, Sayo? Please,'' Kagome requested.
''Of course, ma'am,'' Sayo nodded and left to the kitchen.
''Of course I'm not happy!'' Kagome snapped as soon as they were alone. ''I came here so I wouldn't have to see you every day, to get away from you because it makes me sick to be near you. And I want..No, I don't want, I demand you leave right this instant!''
''For what? So you can parade in front of everyone with your lover, right?'' Naraku assumed and slapped Kagome across the face. ''I have a business matter to discuss with Takashi and as soon as I am done, your bags better be packed because we are leaving, immediately.''
''Sayo?''
Sayo turned to see Father Jaken standing at the back door in the kitchen. ''Father Jaken! How are you? Please, sit.''
''I'm good. I'm better to see you looking happy,'' Father replied.
''How can I not be happy when Sesshomaru and Rin are so happy and in love, they shine like two suns?'' Sayo told him.
''Really? Tell me,'' Jaken said.
''Yes, Father. I'm so happy they finally made up. They're together all day long. They can't stand to be apart! They give these looks to each other, they smile at each other. They kiss. It makes me really happy to see them like that,'' Sayo shared with him.
''And to what do we owe that miracle?'' Father questioned.
''Who knows..It happened since that man, the foreman, left the ranch,'' Sayo said.
''He left? When?'' Father asked.
''The other day. I don't know what happened, but the police came looking for him,'' Sayo informed him.
''So Sesshomaru knows who he is?'' Jaken asked.
''Who is he?'' Sayo asked back.
''I mean, does he know..Don't listen to me, you know me,'' Jaken chuckled. ''So, what happened?''
''I have to go tend to your brother and I want to make him work as long as possible which unfortunately means, I have to stay out as long as possible but I'll to sneak away to come see you whenever I can,'' Sesshomaru told Rin while he put on his shirt.
''I know. Be careful, okay?'' Rin buttoned his shirt for him. ''I'll be counting the minutes until you come for me.''
Sesshomaru carefully grabbed his wife's face into his hands and pressed his lips to hers for a few minutes until he was interrupted.
''Sesshomaru,'' Sara called as she stood a foot away from the couple. ''Rin's brother is waiting on the porch for you.''
''I know,'' Sesshomaru nodded and kissed his wife a minute longer, paying Sara no mind. ''I love you.''
''I love you more,'' Rin sighed in content. Sesshomaru smirked and left out the front door as Rin watched him go.
''You seem very happy lately,'' Sara sneered.
''Sure,'' Rin nodded. ''Because I have many reasons to be happy.''
''Well let's see how long it lasts,'' Sara growled and stomped off. Rin giggled and shook her head.
''Good morning,'' Kagome greeted her.
''Hey, I was going to look for you. Did you get what I asked for?'' Rin asked.
''Not yet,'' Kagome answered.
''What's wrong?'' Rin asked and then noticed Naraku come in. ''Naraku? I didn't know you were here.''
''I came because I can't be far away from my honey,'' Naraku wrapped his arms around Kagome's waist. ''Besides, I have to look after her, because when she's alone, she does..so many stupid things. Right, honey?''
''Excuse me?'' Rin responded trying not to lose her temper at her best friend's husband.
''Good morning!'' Inuyasha called as he came into the house.
''Inuyasha! Sesshomaru didn't tell me you were coming,'' Rin greeted him.
''I had a feeling he would visit,'' Naraku smirked.
Inuyasha glared at Naraku before turning to Rin. ''You look happy and from the conversations my brother and I have had over the phone, I know he is too. I'm glad.''
''You played a part. Thank you for bringing Momo here to tell me the truth,'' Rin smiled.
''Of course,'' Inuyasha nodded.
''Rin, dear,'' Father Jaken and Sayo came into the living room.
''Father Jaken! It's so good to see you!'' Rin exclaimed.
''You too. Can we go outside and talk?'' Jaken requested.
''Of course,'' Rin agreed and looked back at her brother-in-law and best friend. ''Sayo, please have Miroku take Inuyasha's things to his room. I'll be back in a moment.''
''Sayo told me that man finally left,'' Jaken said when they got outside.
''Yes. Luckily, Sesshomaru didn't find out about anything,'' Rin sighed. ''You don't know how much I love him, Father. And I've realized he's a wonderful man.''
Jaken chuckled. ''I told you so! I've known him since the day his parents brought him home from the hospital. Sesshomaru may have a bad temper sometimes, but deep down, he's very honest and generous.''
''Yes,'' Rin nodded. ''He and I have talked a lot these past few days. You have no idea how much he loves me.''
''Of course I know! The only one who didn't know, was you!'' Jaken laughed. ''Oh, child. Sesshomaru has always loved you. That's why he was furious when he learned you didn't love him back.''
''Yes. And now I realize what he must have gone through, because now it's me who's so in love. And I'm terrified of losing his trust, his love. Without him, I'd die,'' Rin confessed.
''No. No, dear. That will never happen,'' Jaken promised her. ''Sesshomaru is a man with steady feelings. I'm so glad things worked out for you two. Look, you complained about your wedding so much and now? God knows why he does things.''
''I know. All I want now is for our happiness to never end. I hope we'll have a child soon,'' Rin shared.
''Of course you will,'' Jaken assured her.
''Oh, I hope so, Father. I hope so,'' Rin grinned.
Sayo was with another maid dusting the living room furniture when the front door opened.
''Good morning,'' Inutashio greeted her. ''We're Sesshomaru's parents.''
''G-Good morning,'' Sayo's eyes widened.
''Is Rin here?'' Izayoi asked.
''S-She's outside talking with Father Jaken,'' Sayo answered.
''Ah. How is she?'' Izayoi asked.
''F-Fine I suppose,'' Sayo shrugged.
''I'd say she's better than fine,'' The other maid, Eri giggled.
''What do you mean by that?'' Izayoi asked.
''All I know is one night, a couple of weeks ago, Sesshomaru went into Mrs. Rin's room, furious, did something and they've been different with each other ever since,'' Eri answered.
''Did something, as in..'' Izayoi suggested.
''What happens between a married couple,'' Eri nodded.
''Izayoi, sweetheart, we don't know that he forced-'' ''Sesshomaru Takahashi!'' Izayoi yelled all throughout the house.
''Father? Izayoi?'' Sesshomaru entered his home.
''You did it again, didn't you?'' Izayoi questioned.
''Did what?'' Sesshomaru asked.
''This girl tells me a couple of weeks ago, you went into Rin's room angrily and did something to her,'' Izayoi told him.
Sesshomaru shook his head furiously before his eye's widened. He had technically. ''It was just a misunderstanding and it won't ever happen again. I swear.''
''You promised last time as well, remember? I told you there wouldn't be a next time,'' Izayoi reminded him. ''Izayoi, my love-'' ''You two! Pack all of Rin's things because she's coming with me!'' Izayoi ordered Eri and Sayo.
''Izayoi, you can't do this!'' Sesshomaru growled. Izayoi turned and slapped him.
''Sesshomaru!'' Rin gasped as she had just walked through the back door. ''Are you alright, my love?'' Rin gently touched his face where he had been hit.
''I'm fine,'' Sesshomaru assured her.
''My love?'' Izayoi questioned.
''Why did you do that?'' Rin asked her.
''That girl, Eri told me Sesshomaru forced himself on you again a few weeks ago,'' Izayoi explained with slight confusion.
''He didn't force me. I reciprocated,'' Rin told her.
''Oh! So that means..?'' Izayoi suggested.
''We are very happy now,'' Rin said with a smile.
''Wonderful!'' Izayoi squealed. ''Sorry I slapped your face, son. We should have a big dinner tonight to celebrate.''
''We should,'' Sesshomaru wrapped his arms around Rin and smirked.
''Oh, by the way, your brother is here,'' Rin mentioned.
''My brother?'' Sesshomaru questioned.
Rin nodded. ''He arrived this morning right after you left.''
''Oh, double wonderful!'' Izayoi exclaimed.
''What's double wonderful?'' Inuyasha asked as he walked into the living room.
''Oh, my baby boy!'' Izayoi cried and pulled him in for a hug.
''Hey, mama,'' Inuyasha chuckled.
''How have you been, son? We haven't see you in weeks,'' Inutashio pointed out.
''I know. Can we talk? Outside?'' Inuyasha asked them.
''Of course, dear,'' Izayoi followed her youngest son and her husband outside.
''Naraku, is here as well,'' Rin told Sesshomaru.
''Great,'' Sesshomaru rolled his eyes.
''Sesshomaru,'' Naraku and Kagome came out of their room. ''I'd like to discuss something with you.''
''Sure. We can talk in my office,'' Sesshomaru let Naraku follow him.
''I want to talk to you,'' Rin told Kagome and pulled her into her bedroom.
''Why haven't you come to visit us recently?'' Izayoi asked her son.
''Things have gotten..complicated recently,'' Inuyasha answered.
''What do you mean?'' Inutashio asked him.
''I..I have fallen in love,'' Inuyasha confessed.
''In love? It's not with that awful Sara girl is it? Because I've told you how I feel about her,'' Izayoi grimaced.
''Yes, I know but it's not her. It's Rin's best friend,'' Inuyasha told them.
''Oh, really? Any friend of Rin's must be great,'' Izayoi smiled.
''I'm sure she's perfect, son,'' Inutashio smirked. ''Have you told her how you feel?''
''I have,'' Inuyasha nodded. ''It took me a bit but eventually I managed to win her over.''
''You Takahashi men seem to have that in common,'' Izayoi rolled her eyes. ''So she feels the same way you do, then?''
''She loves me just as much as I love her,'' Inuyasha confirmed.
''So when can we meet her?'' Inutashio asked.
''Today but there's..a problem. She's..She's already married,'' Inuyasha revealed.
His parents' eyes widened. ''What?'' They both spoke out loud.
''Tell me what's going on. I could feel the tension between you and your husband,'' Rin said as she and Kagome sat down on Rin's sofa.
''I'm angry Naraku came here to see me!'' Kagome snapped.
''There's something more, something you're not telling me,'' Rin noticed. ''My aunt told me about the wagon with flowers Inuyasha gave you the last time you were here. And when you left, I realized you were nervous, like you were running away from something.''
''Oh, friend,'' Kagome whimpered. ''Inuyasha and I...''
''What? What's going on with him, Kagome?'' Rin asked her.
''I swear I tried really hard not to fall, but..,'' Kagome sighed. ''Inuyasha seduced me little by little. I was so lonely, feeling so abandoned, so useless. And he, he got into my heart. And now, I'm hopelessly in love with him. I love Inuyasha with all of my being.''
''That's..a lot,'' Inutashio finally voiced after minutes of silence.
''That poor girl,'' Izayoi shook her head.
''I..I can't live without her,'' Inuyasha admitted.
''Oh, son,'' Izayoi's eyes softened.
''I'll take care of it,'' Inutashio told his son. ''Give me some time to think and I'll come up with a plan to get you two away from him, permanently.''
''You'll help me? You aren't disappointed in me?'' Inuyasha questioned.
''You can't choose who you love, son, and no one, puts their hands on my children,'' Inutashio growled.
''Thank you both,'' Inuyasha smiled at his parents gratefully. ''Possibly a bit of good news to share, but you can't say anything to Sesshomaru yet, Kagome asked me to pick up something for Rin.''
''What is it?'' Izayoi asked and Inuyasha told her.
''What!?''
''You can't imagine the beating Inuyasha got on behalf of Naraku,'' Kagome whimpered.
''I can't believe he did that,'' Rin gasped.
''Not only that, he used his power and threatened Inuyasha with killing me so he would end things with me,'' Kagome revealed. ''Naraku will never agree to a divorce so I can be happy with the man I love, not while he's Kamakura's mayor and wants to continue his political career.''
''Oh, friend,'' Rin cried and wrapped her arms around Kagome. ''I hate hearing you talk this way. I thought you were so in love when you married him.''
''Yes! Yes, I was. I was deeply in love,'' Kagome admitted. ''But I was also deceived, because I thought Naraku loved me too. But he didn't. This marriage is just a front he used to become mayor, to portray a certain image while hiding the kind of man he really is. I have serious doubts about my husband's sexual preferences.''
''What?'' Rin practically shouted.
''Naraku has never touched me, Rin,'' Kagome confessed. ''You can't imagine the hell this marriage has been for me. But Inuyasha promises he'll make it so we'll be happy together one day and despite how hard it's been for me, I'm very happy that you're happy and in love with Sesshomaru. And if your suspicions are correct, soon you'll be even happier.''
Rin smiled tearfully at her best friend. ''I love you.''
''I love you, Rinny,'' Kagome smiled.
''Excuse me,'' Sayo came in. ''Mr. Inuyasha asked me to give this to you, Mrs. Kagome.''
''Thank you,'' Kagome nodded and took the brown paper bag from her.
''Thank you, Sayo,'' Rin sighed as soon as Sayo left.
''This is for you,'' Kagome grinned and handed it over.
''That's mine? Really?'' Rin squealed. ''Finally! I'll finally know for sure!''
''Do you want to be alone?'' Kagome asked.
''No, no, you have to be with me. I'm too nervous!'' Rin laughed and pulled her best friend into her bathroom, both of them screaming with excitement.
