Hellloooooo
I OWN NOTHING
''I'm not interested in your apologies,'' Rin looked away from him.
''From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to forgive me,'' Sesshomaru pleaded.
''How can you ask me to forgive? After everything that's happened. So many things between us,'' Rin choked up. ''There's an innocent man agonizing in the hospital because of you.''
''Yes,'' Sesshomaru sighed. ''Yes, I know-I-I shouldn't have gone so far, but Kohaku is not as innocent as you think. Please, I don't want to talk about him, let's talk about us. We both made many mistakes, Rin, but there's no point in talking about that. Let's forget about the past-'' ''No, let go of me, don't touch me. I asked you the same thing a few days ago and told me no one could make you live with a tramp like me,'' A tear slid down Rin's face as she sat down on her bed to be almost at eye level with Sesshomaru. ''That's what you said to me, Sesshomaru. Me,'' Rin whimpered.
''Yes, I know. I'm sorry, I was-I was very confused. I was mad with jealousy,'' Sesshomaru tried to defend himself as he moved closer to his wife. ''Forgive me, please.''
''No, don't. Stay away, stay away!'' Rin exclaimed. ''You kicked me out of your house, you kicked me out of your life! You humiliated me. Now, you want me to pretend that all of that didn't happen? I won't. I can't! Much less knowing someone could die because of you!''
''What-what can I do to be forgiven?'' Sesshomaru questioned.
Rin looked at him for a moment before looking down at her lap. ''Nothing.''
''Rin, please, we're married, we have a son,'' Sesshomaru tried to point out.
''We were married when you kicked me out of your ranch,'' Rin shrugged. ''You rejected my son since he was living inside of me! Now you know he's yours, thanks to some paternity test-no. That doesn't change things.''
''It's not just that-'' ''No? So, then? Tell me what else. What else made you change your mind?'' Rin asked him.
''My sister,'' Sesshomaru answered. ''She told me about you. She's sure of your innocence. Besides, I went to see Kohaku.''
''Oh, what for?'' Rin questioned.
''To ask him,'' Sesshomaru said.
Rin looked at Sesshomaru with disappointment. ''To ask him what?''
''Understand me, I need to know,'' Sesshomaru defended.
Rin slowly nodded. ''So, in order to trust me, you had to ask everyone else in the world. You trusted everybody else's word but not mine? It was easy for them to convince you of my innocence, but I didn't! I didn't, all of this didn't!'' Rin cried.
Sesshomaru furiously shook his head. ''Please, Rin! Please-'' ''Please? You? Just leave. I don't want to see you, Sesshomaru!'' Rin yelled. ''I don't want a man like you by my side. Leave.'' Rin pushed Sesshomaru away and their baby began to cry. ''It's alright. Shhh. I'm here. Don't cry, my love.'' Rin refused to look at her husband. ''My lawyer will be visiting you again. Get out of here.'' As soon as Rin heard the door close, she broke down and sobbed.
''Brother,'' Sayo called as he came back downstairs.
''I asked for forgiveness, Sayo but-it's too late,'' Sesshomaru grimaced.
''Just give her time,'' Sayo suggested.
''Pack your things, I'm taking you home,'' Sesshomaru suddenly told her.
Sayo's eyes widened. ''Sesshomaru..I don't want to leave your wife alone. I don't want to be away from my nephew.''
''You can come see him whenever you want but you belong with me. I need you...'' Sesshomaru admitted.
Sayo's eyes softened. ''Let me grab my things and say goodbye to Rin and the baby. I'll be right back.'' Sayo walked up the stairs all the way to Rin's room and walked inside to see Rin, sitting on her sofa while holding her son. ''I came to say goodbye,'' Sayo said. ''My brother wants me to go live with him.''
Rin's eyes shot up to Sayo's before she slowly nodded. ''That's great, Sayo. I'm glad for you. You deserve to be with your family you've waited so long for.''
''Rin...'' Sayo's eyes filled with tears.
''I won't take my son away from his father. Sesshomaru can see his son whenever he wants,'' Rin decided. ''Even if we're divorced I won't take them away from each other.''
''But Rin..'' Sayo sighed.
''I can't forgive him, Sayo,'' Rin cried. ''Apologizing doesn't fix things. Not after all the pain, all the insults. I can't go back to him. Because of Sesshomaru, I lost so much. I lost my dad, I lost myself. But the moment Sesshomaru kicked me out of his house, he went looking for Sara, he took her to live with him-'' ''But my brother doesn't love her, he loves you!'' Sayo reminded her.
''He didn't even apologize to me about Sara,'' Rin whimpered. ''But of course, Kohaku is dying because of him. He tried to kill a man that saved his life. It's too much. It's too many things and-and I can't just forget.''
''I'll never lose hope, Rin,'' Sayo told her. ''For as long as I live, I'll fight so, one day, you and my brother are together again. Happy.''
''Sesshomaru,'' Inutashio called out to his oldest son when he walked through the door with Sayo. ''We heard Rin's baby was born so we came to see him.''
Sesshomaru nodded. ''My son was born. And he is..beautiful.''
''Oh? What happened to all that talk of 'I will never recognize him as mine' and 'He's Kohaku Mai's kid, not mine'?'' Inutashio questioned.
''Rin brought me the results of the paternity test. He's my son,'' Sesshomaru informed them.
Inuyasha scoffed. ''You don't say? Who could've seen that coming?''
Sesshomaru grimaced before leaving Sayo at the door and walking over to his family. Sesshomaru stood in front of them and kneeled down. ''Help me, please. I was wrong and I'm sorry. I should've listened to all of you and now I'm paying the price. Rin hates me. She won't ever forgive me. I've lost everything.''
Inuyasha chuckled. ''Well, then. Now that you've figured out what a dumbass you were being, I can finally help you.'' Sesshomaru looked at his brother with wide eyes.
''You and Rin love each other very much, son. Everyone sees it. She'll come around,'' Inutashio comforted his son.
''Everything will work out, Sesshomaru,'' Izayoi smiled before looking at Sayo. ''And who might you be? Wait. We saw you at the ranch before, didn't we?''
Sayo nodded. ''Yes, ma'am. Hello. I am Sayo Ta-Sayo. Just Sayo.''
Sesshomaru looked at Sayo as he stood back up. ''This is Sayo. My half sister.''
Inuyasha and Izayoi's eyes widened. ''What?''
Inutashio smirked. ''It's about time you said something, girl.''
''You knew?'' Sesshomaru questioned his father.
Inutashio shrugged. ''It wasn't hard to figure out. The name, the way she looks.''
''But..she doesn't look like me,'' Sesshomaru said.
''No, but she does look like a worker your and mother and I used to employee,'' Inutashio explained.
''My father?'' Sayo asked.
Inutashio nodded. ''I would assume so. You look exactly like him. Now, let's get figure out how we're going to get our stupid son and the best woman he'll ever meet back together.''
''I want to drop by the hospital to check on Kohaku Mai,'' Sesshomaru told everyone.
''Because you almost murdered him?'' Inuyasha smirked.
''Inuyasha!'' Izayoi reprimanded. Inuyasha shrugged.
''Forget it. I deserve that,'' Sesshomaru admitted. ''I'll be back soon.''
''Rin.''
''Hi,'' Rin greeted Kohaku when she walked into his hospital room.
''Rin, Sesshomaru came to see me,'' Kohaku told her.
Rin nodded. ''Yes, he told me.''
''My love, hold my hand,'' Kohaku requested. Rin reached out and grabbed his hand. ''This might be the last time-'' ''No. No, no, no. Don't say that. You're going to be okay,'' Rin tried to convince him.
''If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that you've been the love of my life,'' Kohaku confessed. ''I love you. And I will love you forever. But you're not happy. You're not happy.''
''I wish I could do something for you,'' Rin said.
''There's something that-that you can do for me,'' Kohaku told her. ''Lie to me.''
''What?'' Rin questioned.
Kohaku nodded. ''Yes. I need you to lie to me.''
''I don't understand what you mean,'' Rin responded.
''Look, Rin. I want-I want to close my eyes hearing your voice. And you're going to tell me that you never stopped loving me. Please. Please, Rin. Tell me-tell me you still love me like the first day.''
Rin took a deep breath and closed her eyes. ''I love you, Kohaku. I never stopped loving you, not for a single minute. Not for a single second. I love you.''
''My love, now that I close my eyes, you know what I see? There-there's a river-the river I took you to that time. There's the waterfall. I feel-I feel the warmth of your body-I smell your scent,'' Kohaku cried. ''Rin, in that place you gave yourself to me. There, you were mine. Do you remember? Please-please tell me-tell me you haven't forgotten, please!''
''No, no. I haven't forgotten,'' Rin promised him.
''In that moment, my love, in that moment, nothing existed, only you and I were there, and everything was love, kisses, touches, and your eyes-your big brown eyes looking at me after we made love,'' Kohaku whimpered.
''Shhhh. Relax,'' Rin ran her hands through his hair to comfort him.
''Thank you for telling me you still loved me. Thank you for that lie,'' Kohaku whispered. ''I-I'm so tired.''
''Rest,'' Rin whispered to him. ''You have to fight, Kohaku. You have to live.''
Sayo sighed as she began setting the table for dinner. She was so worried about Sesshomaru and Rin.
''What are you doing here?''
Sayo rolled her eyes at Sara. ''Setting the table. Can't you see?''
''No. I meant what are you doing in this house,'' Sara growled.
''I don't need your permission to be here, Sara,'' Sayo snapped.
''Nicely said, Sayo,'' Inuyasha smirked as he came in the dining room. ''You should watch what you say to her, Sara. You could regret it.''
Sara scoffed. ''It's you who'll regret it. When Sesshomaru comes back, I'll ask him to fire you.''
''Yeah, right. Sure,'' Inuyasha chuckled just as Sesshomaru came in.
''Sesshomaru, did you authorize this woman to stay here?'' Sara sneered.
Sesshomaru wrapped his arm around Sayo's shoulders. ''This woman doesn't need my permission to live in my house. She has every right. And I demand you apologize to her, right now.''
Sara laughed. ''Apologize? Why should I?''
''Because she's my sister,'' Sesshomaru revealed to her.
Sara's eyes widened before she bit the inside of her cheek. ''I'm sorry.''
''I need to talk to you, Sayo,'' Sesshomaru told her.
''Of course, brother,'' Sayo turned to Sara before leaving. ''Finish setting the table for me, Sara.''
Inuyasha smirked. ''Pack your bags, bitch. Your days are numbered.''
Sara watched Inuyasha leave before throwing everything off the table and screaming. She wasn't going to give up without a fight.
Later that night, Rin finally got the baby to sleep and came downstairs to find her brother alone in the living room.
''May I sit?'' Rin asked.
''Be my guest,'' Tohru shrugged.
''How are you?'' Rin asked him.
''So-so,'' Tohru answered. ''How are you?''
''Sesshomaru came to see me,'' Rin informed him. ''He wants to get back together, he apologized.''
''Why do you say it like that?'' Tohru questioned.
''Because I'm divorcing him, Tohru,'' Rin sighed. ''I don't want to go back to him. Sesshomaru doesn't believe in me. That hurts me. Everyone in the world can convince him, but when I look him in the eye, I see he still doubts me, it doesn't go away.''
''Can I tell you something?'' Tohru asked. Rin nodded. ''If I were Sesshomaru, I would doubt you too.''
Rin's eyes widened. ''How can you say that to me-'' ''Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I've known you since you were a brat. I know you're impulsive, stubborn, unbearable. But I also know that you would never hurt anyone. I understand, you got married under duress, you felt used, manipulated by me, by mom, and yes, you're right. You wanted to get even. You were very angry. But things have changed. It's been a long time. You're not the same. You're a mom,'' Tohru reminded her.
''I'm surprised it's you who saying these things,'' Rin told him. ''You used to say all the time that life should be lived without worry for anybody or anything.''
Tohru waved her off. ''I say a lot of things, but right now, I'm telling you this. Do what's best for you and your son, or you'll end up regretting it.''
Rin smiled. ''I think Kya is right. You're changing, Tohru.''
Tohru scoffed. ''Rinny, I love you very much. I would like it if you could forgive me for-well, for-like that time that-that I stuck gum in your hair while you slept and you had to get your head shaved, and also for the time I burnt your dollhouse and beheaded all your dolls.''
Rin laughed. ''Enough. I love you very much too, Tohru. I'd like to see you happy because I know you hide a lot of pain, and-and that hurts you.''
''No, we're talking about you,'' Tohru shook his head. ''And don't interrupt, because I'm your older brother. The best thing you could do, right now, for you and your son, is get back with your husband.''
''I love him, Tohru,'' Rin admitted. ''I love him with all of my being.''
''You love each other. Talk. Tell each other what you think, what you feel,'' Tohru suggested. ''Kiss. Sleep together, enjoy. You want trust? Show him trust. Forgive him.''
''Tohru, I'll call him tomorrow,'' Rin told him. ''Thank you.''
''No problem,'' Tohru shrugged.
Rin laughed.
Early the next morning, Rin had woken up early because she couldn't sleep and came downstairs to find a giant arrangement of flowers.
''Those flowers are beautiful,'' Rin's aunt gasped.
''I came down and they were just here,'' Rin said.
''Those are orchids,'' Sakura noticed. ''They must have cost a fortune. I'm sure Sesshomaru sent them. It's evident that he'd decided to convince you to forgive him.''
''Do you know something? I've been doing a lot of thinking and maybe I'll give him a chance,'' Rin smiled shyly.
''Really, dear?'' Sakura questioned excitedly. ''But why do you say maybe?''
''We have to sit and talk about many things before that,'' Rin explained.
''Well, but you can't deny that Sesshomaru won a couple of points with these flowers,'' Sakura smirked. ''Come on, show me the card!''
Rin laughed and reached inside to grab the small envelope so she could open it. Rin's eyes widened. ''These flowers are not mine.''
''No? Who are they for then?'' Sakura questioned.
''They're for you, aunt,'' Rin giggled and showed her the envelope with her name on it.
Sakura gasped. ''For me? I can't believe it! Read it, read it!''
Rin laughed and opened the card. ''Let's see, it says, 'For you, Sakura, hoping that you will accept my invitation to dinner. Always yours, Kageromaru Kaga.' You have a suitor and you didn't tell me?''
''At my age, I'm entitled to a secret or two,'' Sakura giggled. ''Now, let's talk about you..''
''I'm calling him now,'' Rin rolled her eyes with a smile before grabbing the phone off the hook and walking outside into the garden. The phone rang three times before someone picked up.
''Hello?''
''Sayo, I'm so glad to hear your voice. How are you?'' Rin asked her.
''Rin! I'm glad you called! How is my nephew? I miss him so much.''
''He misses you too,'' Rin smiled. ''He misses his aunt's kisses and hugs. When will you come see him?''
''Very soon. Although, I'd like it if you brought him here..''
''Tell me something, Sayo, Is Sara still living there with Sesshomaru?'' Rin questioned.
''Yes.''
''Is Sesshomaru at home?'' Rin suddenly asked.
''Yes, of course. One second...Hello.''
''Hi, Sesshomaru. I need to talk to you,'' Rin told him.
''Me too.''
''Well, then, shall I wait for you at my house?'' Rin asked him.
''Okay, I'll meet you there. See you then.''
Sesshomaru hung up the phone just as the doorbell rang.
''Good afternoon.''
''Kagome,'' Sesshomaru greeted her. ''What are you doing here?''
''I came to see Inuyasha,'' Kagome answered.
''He's at the company right now,'' Sesshomaru informed her.
''I'll come back later then,'' Kagome made an attempt to leave.
''Wait, I'd like to talk to you, Kagome. Please, have a seat,'' Sesshomaru requested. Kagome nodded and sat down on his living room couch. ''Rin is your best friend and I'm sure that you were aware of everything.''
''I won't talk about her behind her back,'' Kagome told him. ''You're wasting your time, Sesshomaru.''
''Don't worry. There's nothing to hide,'' Sesshomaru shrugged.
''You knew that Rin loved another man,'' Kagome assumed.
Sesshomaru shook his head. ''No. No, I didn't know her true feelings until the day of our wedding when, thanks to you, my wife met Kohaku Mai and planned to run away with him!''
''But you stopped them and took her by force,'' Kagome reminded him. ''You made a deal with her mom and she didn't know. You bought a wife, so Rinny was your property. You treated her as if she were an object.''
''Rage was blinding me,'' Sesshomaru admitted. ''I could never handle my jealousy. Deep inside, what I really desired was to make her love me.''
''You got it, Sesshomaru!'' Kagome exclaimed. ''Rin loves you.''
Sesshomaru shrugged. ''Maybe she does, but not enough. She could never forget Kohaku. He's the man of her life.''
Kagome chuckled. ''You're so foolish.''
''Will you deny that Rin still loves him?'' Sesshomaru questioned.
Kagome shook her head. ''Kohaku was her first love, her first crush. The love they had was very strong and if you really love Rin, you have to start to accept it. You have to learn how to live with that. You won't ever take that memory out of her heart. Sesshomaru, you had everything against you. However, little by little, you made her fall in love with you completely. You were about to win, to defeat that other feeling and to have Rin's heart all for yourself. But you didn't trust her, you decided to not believe her. You didn't understand her reasons why Kohaku had followed her to your ranch. You humiliated her. Sesshomaru, you offended her by calling her a prostitute and you kicked her out of your house as if she was trash. Excuse me, but if I were in her place, I wouldn't forgive you.''
Sesshomaru grimaced.
''I'm leaving,'' Sesshomaru told his sister.
''You're going to see Rin?'' Sayo assumed. Sesshomaru nodded. ''I'd like to go with you but..it's important for you two to talk.''
Sesshomaru pressed a kiss to Sayo's forehead. ''I'll be back later.''
Sayo smiled. ''Good luck. Remember that she loves you.''
Sesshomaru nodded. ''I will.'' As soon as Sesshomaru walked out of the door, Sara came into the living room.
''Did Sesshomaru leave?'' She asked Sayo.
''Yes,'' Sayo turned to leave but Sara stopped her.
''Please, forgive me. I didn't know who you were. Don't tell Sesshomaru to kick me out, I don't have anyone else!'' Sara begged.
''I won't tell my brother anything, but if you have even a little bit of shame, you'll know what you have to do,'' Sayo responded and walked away.
Sara wiped away her fake tears and growled.
Sesshomaru waited in Rin's living room until she came downstairs.
''Thanks for coming to see me, Sesshomaru,'' Rin greeted him.
''Your lawyer visited me. I already signed the divorce documents,'' Sesshomaru informed her.
Rin's eyes widened. ''I don't understand. I thought that-'' ''I decided to do it because ending this marriage means to end something that had a bad start, something that was meant to fail,'' Sesshomaru said.
Rin sighed and pushed away her tears. ''You're right. What starts wrong, ends bad. I agree with you.''
''I heard everything, Rin. I heard what you told Kohaku in the hospital,'' Sesshomaru revealed. ''That you never stopped loving him, not even for a minute. Not even for a second.'' Rin scoffed and ran her hands through her hair in frustration. ''Won't you say anything?'' Sesshomaru asked her.
''What's the point?'' Rin retorted. ''I could explain it, but it's of no use. You won't believe me anyway. According to you, you found out what my real feelings are, right?'' Rin turned to leave but Sesshomaru caught her arm gently.
''I'm not reproaching you for anything. I signed the divorce papers, but that doesn't mean that I'm giving up on you or that I say that I'm defeated. I'm just accepting that you'll always love Kohaku, but, that I know that you love me too. For that simple reason, I won't give up. I'll fight for a new start for us. I'll fight for you always. Always,'' Sesshomaru promised. ''Won't you say anything?''
''I wasn't expecting you to react that way,'' Rin admitted.
''It's not easy for me, Rin. You don't know how hard it is to hold back all of my fears and insecurities. I'm dying with jealousy on the inside,'' Sesshomaru confessed.
''Sesshomaru-'' ''I've given you your freedom back and I know that I can lose you for that. You're free to be with him if that's what you want. You can wait for Kohaku and to be by his side. But I'll fight for you, do you hear me? I'll fight for you because I love you. I love you with all the strength of my heart,'' Sesshomaru growled.
''I think that, up to this day, the most beautiful thing you've ever given me, apart from our son, is this, Sesshomaru-the divorce, the freedom to decide for myself who I want to be with for the rest of my life,'' Rin smiled.
Sesshomaru flinched. ''You talk as if you already had an answer.''
''I don't even have to think about it. It's you, my love,'' Rin wrapped her arms around his waist. Sesshomaru's eyes softened and he pulled her in for a deep kiss. ''I'm warning you I don't want to be divorced again for a long time.'' Rin smiled.
Sesshomaru smirked. ''Great, neither do I.''
''Then what are we waiting for? What shall we do?'' Rin questioned.
Sesshomaru suddenly got down on one knee causing Rin to laugh. ''Rin. Will you be my girlfriend?''
Rin nodded. ''Yes.''
''Will you start a new life with me?'' Sesshomaru asked her.
Rin smiled. ''Yes, my love. I want to be your partner. I want to be your woman.'' Rin pulled Sesshomaru up and pressed her lips to his again in a passionate kiss.
I can't tell you how many times I accidently wrote 'lobe' instead of 'love', really ruined the mood.
