Laurie doesn't realize what she's doing until a gust of wind hits her and she jerks upright, gasping apologies.

But Sofia just rolls to face her, smile visible in the moonlight through their window. She says, "You can't sleep either, huh?"

"Sorry," Laurie says again, lowering herself onto her side. "I'm just not used to having..." someone so close "a roommate."

"Yeah," says Sofia, almost too quiet to hear. Then she perks up and adds, "It's kind of exciting, isn't it?"

Laurie blinks at her, then smiles a slow smile of her own. "Yeah," she says, "it kind of is."
