Ch 7 Confusing Feelings
"Mom stop!" Dogo cried out, running over to pull Reirei off of Kopa. "Mom Kopa is my friend remember?" Dogo asked, as he shoved Reirei away from Kopa.
"He was going to attack you Dogo!" Reirei snarled, glaring at Kopa from over Dogo's shoulder.
"You're damn right I was gonna attack him!" Kopa snarled. "He was trying to trick me and get me to trust him so that Tama and Sharka can finish what they started!"
"This is all one big misunderstanding," Dogo insisted, not wanting a full fight to break out between his mother and Kopa. Then he turned and faced his mother and said, "Please Mom just let me handle this. I'm not a pup anymore you know."
"Fine," Reirei hissed, giving Kopa one final glare. "I'll leave. But let me tell you this Kopa: if you so much as leave one scratch on my kid I'll rip you apart. Got it?"
"Whatever Reirei," Kopa said, rolling his blue eyes. "I'm not afraid of you." With that Reirei left with a growl, leaving Kopa and Dogo alone.
"Sorry about that Kopa," Dogo said with a sheepish smile. "My mother can be a bit much sometimes. But aren't all mothers naturally protective of their kids?"
"Whatever Dogo," Kopa said, once again rolling his eyes. "I'm gonna go." With that Kopa turned to leave. But Dogo quickly stepped in front of the creamy coated lion.
"Kopa wait please don't go," Dogo pleaded.
"Why should I stay?" Kopa demanded, glaring at Dogo. "So you can feed me a bunch of lies?"
"Look I'm sorry alright," Dogo said. "But I sware I'm not working with Tama and Sharka. I haven't seen them in a really long time." Kopa gave Dogo a skeptical look so Dogo continued, "I get why you don't trust me and honestly I don't blame you. But I still want to be friends with you. You know like we were when we were kids. But now I see that's not going to happen. And that's cool. I just couldn't leave things on a bad note." With that Dogo began to walk away.
"Dogo hold up!" Kopa cried out. Dogo let a smile go across his muzzle as he realized Kopa had bought his act. Dogo turned back to face Kopa, forcing himself to put a guilty look on his face. "I owe you an apology," Kopa said.
"Kopa you don't owe me anything," Dogo said. "If anything I owe you."
"Look Dogo can we start over?" Kopa asked. "You know pretend like the last few minutes didn't happen or something?"
"Sure," Dogo said with a smile. "I'd like that. So do you wanna go for a walk or something? You know so we can catch up?"
"Sure," Kopa said, smiling back at the young jackal. "Lets go..." But before he could continue suddenly they heard someone call Kopa's name. The two males looked over and saw Kiara running towards them.
"Kopa there you are!" the light brown lioness said, panting for air. "I've been searching the entire Pride Lands for you! Where..." Then she noticed Dogo there and her expression changed from concern to anger. "What the Hell are you doing here?!" Kiara growled, glaring at Dogo.
"Kiara be nice," Kopa said. "Dogo and me have been talking and he's trying to make up for being so cruel when we were younger."
"Has he now?" Kiara asked, raising an eyebrow and giving Dogo a skeptical look.
"Yes I have been," Dogo said, trying his best not to let a growl come out. "And don't start your shit with me Kiara. I am so not in the mood."
"I didn't start anything Dogo," Kiara said, a hint of anger creeping into her voice. "You're the one that's being hostile with me."
"I know," Dogo said with a sigh. "I'm sorry Kiara. Its been a Hell of a day today. I guess all this has drained me."
"Why don't you go home and get some rest," Kopa suggested. "We'll catch up tomorrow."
"Sure," Dogo said with a slight smile. "I'll see you guys later." With that the young jackal left, quite happy with the progress he made. "Tama and Sharka should be happy with me," Dogo thought. "Luckily that idiot fell for my act." With that Dogo headed back to the Outlands quite pleased with himself.
TLKTLKTLK
Meanwhile Kopa and Kiara were walking back to Pride Rock. "Kopa," Kiara began. "We need to talk about Dogo."
"What about him?" Kopa asked, not making eye contact with his sister.
"Well for starters what did he want from you?" Kiara asked. "Also did he have anything to do with all the scratch marks that are all over you?"
"No he didn't," Kopa said. "Have you forgotten that I was in a fight recently?"
"Kopa that was days ago," Kiara pointed out. "And these are clearly fresh marks."
"Well they weren't from Dogo," Kopa said, walking faster in an effort to get away from his sister.
"Then who are they from?" Kiara said, walking faster to keep up with her brother. "Kopa don't run away from me! I'm just trying to help you!"
"Well I don't need your help alright?!" Kopa shouted, whipping his head around to face his sister. "Kings above Kiara I'm not some helpless cub that needs his big sister to swoop in and save me! So just back the Hell off will ya?!"
"Kopa..." Kiara began. But she was interrupted by Kopa's furious snarl.
"Enough Kiara!" Kopa shouted, causing Kiara to jump. "I've had enough! I'm done!" Without waiting for a response Kopa turned and stormed away from his sister.
"Wow," Vitani said, coming onto the scene with Nuka right behind her. "That sounded rough."
"Yeah," Nuka chimed in. "What the Hell was that about?"
"Dogo's back," Kiara said, causing Kiara and Nuka to blink in surprise. "And I'm pretty sure he beat Kopa up. But Kopa insists that Dogo didn't do anything to him and he got pissed when I pressed the issue."
"Yeah that we heard," Nuka said with a slight laugh.
"Yeah," Vitani said with a laugh of her own. "I think the entire Pride Lands heard." Vitani let out another laugh when she said this part. But she quickly stopped laughing when she saw Kiara's glare.
"Its not funny Vitani," the light brown lioness hissed. "Kopa's seriously heading for a mental breakdown. And he won't let anyone help him."
"I'm sorry Ki'," Vitani said, lowering her amber eyes in shame. "I didn't mean to make you mad."
"Its alright 'Tani," Kiara said with a sigh. "I'm just really worried about Kopa. I'm sorry I snapped at you."
"Its cool," Vitani said, smiling at her future sister-in-law.
"We're here for you babe," Nuka said, nuzzling Kiara. "We're here for both you and Kopa."
"Elephant shit," Kopa cried out, coming out from behind a rock. Nuka, Vitani and Kiara jumped and turned to face Kopa, their eyes wide in surprise.
"Kopa," Kiara gasped. "What..."
"Don't believe their shit Kiara," Kopa shouted. "Cause they don't care one little bit!"
"Kopa that's not true," Nuka declared, shocked that his friend was saying this.
"The Hell its not!" Kopa shouted back. "I heard you guys talking with your parents! I heard you say I'm just like Nala!"
"Kopa..." Nuka began. But he was interrupted by Kopa hitting him hard in the face.
"I hate liars!" Kopa snarled, hitting Nuka once again. "I'll show you what I do to people that lie and talk about me behind my back!"
"Kopa stop!" Kiara cried out as her furious brother lunged at Nuka, tackling the Prince to the ground as the anger blinded him and Kopa went in for the kill.
