Jaden was in the arena having a pep talk with his monsters. He had called out Burstinatrix, Avian, Sparkman, and Clayman.

Jaden: With you guys by my side, I know I can beat whoever North Academy throws at me.

They all nodded in response to what he said.

Jaden: Man, it's so cool being able to talk to you all. I've really got to thank Michael some time.

Syrus: Jaden! There you are. What are you doing here? Everyone is waiting for you.

Jaden: What for?

Syrus: For the meet and greet! North Academy just arrived, and your opponent is here.

Jaden: Then what are you waiting around here for? Let's go!

He jumped off the stage as the holograms faded and ran out the door.

Syrus: Well yeah, I mean that's why I, oh never mind.

At the docks, North Academy's headmaster, Chancellor Foster, had gotten off the submarine and was greeting Sheppard.

Sheppard: It's good to see you, Foster. How have you been?

Foster: I've been well ever since I got over the defeat you handed us at last year's School Duel.

Sheppard: Oh, it was a close match.

Foster: Not really. But I have a feeling it will be this year.

Sheppard: I'm sure it will. To a spirited duel between our two schools.

Jaden: Yeah yeah, but enough with all the how you doings, I wanna meet my opponent.

Sheppard: Yes Jaden, we were getting to that.

Jaden: Great. Then I'll just wait right here 'till we get there.

Foster: You must be Jaden. So you're Duel Academy's phenom?

Jaden: Phenom? That's the coolest thing I've ever been called. What's it mean?

Sheppard: It means be quiet.

Jaden: So come on, when do I meet my opponent?

?: Right now slacker.

Jaden: Wait, I recognize that voice.

?: You should.

Jaden: Chazz, is that you? What are you doing here?

Chazz: For the duel.

Jaden: I think it's sold out.

Chazz: I'm in it.

Jaden: What, as a ref or something?

Chazz: I'm dueling you.

Jaden: Wait, you mean you're North Academy's student rep? Since when did you transfer?

Chazz: Since I stopped getting the respect I deserved at Duel Academy.

Suddenly, two helicopters arrived at the docks.

Jaden: Now what?

Jagger: Hi Chazz.

Slade: What's going on little brother? Mind if we drop in?

Chazz: Slade and Jagger? Why are you here?

Jagger: Why else? To celebrate your big dueling victory.

Slade: You are going to win, right Chazz?

Camera man 1: That's it. Beautiful. Just act natural.

Camera man 2: Alright, a little more to the right. Okay, we're all set here with camera two.

Foster: What's going on here?

Camera man 2: I think you when are you going on, and the answer is prime time baby. This duel's gonna be broadcast worldwide.

Jaden: No way! Me on tv?

Later on, Chazz was talking to his brothers in one of the locker rooms.

Chazz: You set this up, didn't you? This broadcast.

Slade: Of course we did. We need the world to see that you're on your way to becoming Duel Monsters' best. It's all part of the plan.

Chazz: Yeah yeah.

Jagger: Look, world domination is ours for the taking if we all do our part Chazz.

Slade: And we have. Now it's your turn bro. To conquer the world of Duel Monsters. To be the best.

Jagger: And to not give up. Did you really think you could get away from your duties, get away from us by dropping out of Duel Academy?

Chazz: I-

Jagger: Don't deny it. You have always been the slacker of this family.

Slade: It doesn't matter. The point is that you can still turn it around. You can still show that we're supreme.

Jagger: That's right. And the dueling cards in this brief case are gonna help you do just that. They're the most expensive out there, so you have no excuse to lose. Don't let us down Chazz. Don't let the Princeton name down. It's all on you, so you had better deliver.

Having chewed Chazz out, they left the locker room to let Chazz add the cards to his deck. Meanwhile, Jaden was running through the hallway with a can of hairspray and a brush.

Jaden: Man, if someone had told me I was gonna be on tv today, I would've combed my hair. Heck, I probably would've tried to fit a shower in.

He ran past the locker room and heard Chazz talking to himself inside.

Chazz: Man up, Chazz! You've got to show them that Chazz Princeton is no slacker. That you're worthy of the Princeton name. Maybe then they'll finally acknowledge all my efforts.

In the arena, the students were pumped for the match.

Foster: Same bet as usual, right Sheppard? I trust you remember.

Sheppard: Absolutely. After all, old friend, it's what makes this worthwhile.

Jaden made his way into the arena and met with Chumley and Syrus by the stage.

Syrus: Alright Jaden, here we go. The match against your dueling rival, your archnemesis. How do you feel?

Jaden: I'm okay.

Syrus: Okay?!

Chumley: I thought you'd be more excited.

Jaden: Normally I would be. It's just that on my way here, I heard Chazz talking to himself in the bathroom, and I kind of feel bad for the guy.

Syrus: You feel bad for Chazz? I bet that's a sentence no one has ever said before.

Sheppard: Attention students. Welcome to the School Duel.

Foster: And now-

Both: Let this year's competition finally begin!

Crowler walked up onto the stage with a microphone in hand and began to introduce the competing duelists.

Crowler: Duel Academy's representative, hailing from Slifer Red, we have Jaden Yuki!

Syrus: Go Jaden!

Crowler: And his opponent-

Chazz: Get off the stage. I'll introduce myself, you scrub.

Crowler: I beg your pardon?! Scrubs don't have Phds in dueling!

Crowler stamped his feet in annoyance, but got his legs caught in the cord for the mic and fell off the stage.

Jaden: You okay? Maybe you oughta go cordless next time.

Chazz: Maybe you just oughta be quiet. It's Chazz Princeton's turn now. But then, I don't really need an introduction. After all, everybody here knows who I am. Or maybe not. You see, I've changed. Sure, I used to be a classmate of yours, but when I left here, I left my old self as well. Now you're looking at the new and improved Chazz. The North Academy Chazz. And I'm here to-

NA Students: Chazz it up!

Chazz: That's right, say it again!

NAS: Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up!

Syrus: Wow, it's almost like they actually like Chazz.

NAS: No mercy, Chazz!

Chazz: You've got that right! Alright, go time. Let's see what you've got Jaden.

Jaden: With pleasure.

Chazz: No. The pleasure is going to be all mine. Because you're going down.

Both: Duel!

Jaden: 4000 LP

Chazz: 4000 LP

NAS: Chazz it up! Take him down, Chazz!

Chazz: Ask and you shall receive. For my first move, I summon Masked Dragon in defense mode.

Level 3/Fire/Dragon

ATK 1400/DEF 1100

Chazz: That'll do for now.

Jaden: Not once you see what I've got for ya. I summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix in attack mode.

Level 3/Fire/Warrior

ATK 1200/DEF 800

Jaden: Actually, I should say "slayer mode", 'cause that's just what she's gonna do to that dragon. Attack with Burstfire!

Burstinatrix shot a fireball at Masked Dragon, vaporizing it on the spot.

Syrus: Sweet, Jaden has taken the lead!

Chazz: Actually, he's taken the bait. You see Jaden, when Masked Dragon is destroyed in battle, I can summon a dragon type monster from my deck, as long as it has 1500 or fewer attack points, so rise, Armed Dragon LV 3!

Level 3/Wind/Dragon

ATK 1200/DEF 900

Syrus: What's a level monster?

Alexis: It's a special kind of monster that continues to power up through different ways. And if Chazz gets that dragon to its strongest form, Jaden may never win.

Bastion: Indeed. But I'm just wondering where Chazz got such a powerful card.

Sheppard: Wait, isn't that one of your school's best cards? Foster, you didn't!

Foster: I did what I had to do. I told you Sheppard, I want that prize. And I'm going to get it.

Sheppard: Oh yeah? Not if I have anything to say about it you won't. Let's go Jaden! Come on, Jaden it up! Jaden it up!

Jaden: Yeah, uh sure. Anyway, sweet card Chazz. I can't wait to see what that Armed Dragon can do.

Chazz: Don't worry, you'll have a front row seat.

Jaden: For now, I'm throwing down a face-down and ending my turn.

Michael: Jaden better be careful. Those Armed Dragon monsters aren't to be taken lightly.

Lily: So you know about them?

Michael: Sort of. I've heard about them, but never had much luck tracking any of them down.

Lily: Well, if they're that hard to find, they must be worth something in a duel.

Chazz: It's my turn Jaden, and during my standby phase, Armed Dragon LV 3's effect activates. By sending him to the graveyard, I can summon his evolved form, Armed Dragon LV 5, straight from my hand or deck!

Jaden: Say what?!

Syrus: Not good.

Level 5/Wind/Dragon

ATK 2400/DEF 1700

Jaden: Wow Chazz, that thing's pretty sweet, but then so's my trap. I play Hero Ring! This card equips onto a warrior monster with 1500 or fewer attack points, and with it equipped, you can't attack Burstinatrix with monsters that have 1900 or more attack points. Them's the brakes Chazz.

Chazz: Hahahahaha! You want brakes? I'll give you breaks Jaden. I activate Armed Dragon's special ability. By discarding a monster card from my hand, he can destroy any monster as long as its attack points are less than or equal to the attack points of the monster I discarded. I choose to discard Flying Kamakiri 1, and it has 1400 attack points.

Michael: Which means Burstinatrix is about to get blasted into next week.

Alexis: And so is Jaden.

Chazz: Go Armed Dragon LV 5, destroy Burstinatrix with Shrapnel Blast!

His monster launched a barrage of spikes from its shoulders, destroying Burstinatrix in an instant.

Chazz: And since that was his special ability, he can still attack. Attack Jaden with Inferno Roar!

His monster unleashed its attack on Jaden, sending him sprawling across the stage.

Jaden: 1600 LP

Chazz: So that's Duel Academy's best huh?

Sheppard: Jaden, get up, please!

Jaden jumped back on his feet and dusted himself off.

Jaden: Nice shot Chazz. Although I gotta say, for the next tv broadcast, I'd like to arrange to have a stuntman.

Chazz: Whatever. I'm placing a card face-down and ending my turn.

Slade: He's finally acting like a Princeton.

Jagger: That's true. I just hope he doesn't win too fast.

Slade: Why is that?

Jagger: The longer he takes to thrash this kid, the more we make in commercial revenues.

Jaden: My go. You're in trouble now. I play Elemental Hero Bubbleman in attack mode.

Level 4/Water/Warrior

ATK 800/DEF 1200

Jaden: And since there were no other cards on my field when he was summoned, I can draw 2 more from my deck. And now I play the spell Polymerization, and I'll use it to fuse Avian, Bubbleman, and Sparkman to summon Elemental Hero Tempest!

Level 8/Wind/Warrior

ATK & DEF 2800

Syrus: Alright, you've got him now Jay!

Chazz: With flyboy there?

Jaden: You better believe it. And he gives a new definition to the term "air power". Attack with Chaos Tempest!

Tempest fired a laser blast from his right arm, annihilating Chazz's dragon.

Chazz: 3600 LP

Chazz: Wasted effort, I play the trap Call of the Haunted! This will let me summon a monster from my graveyard in attack mode, and I'm choosing the one you just destroyed. Return to the duel, Armed Dragon LV 5!

NAS: Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Show no mercy!

Jaden: Well, guess I'll just throw down a face-down and hope for the best.

Chazz: Go ahead, because with what I have in store for you, even your best won't be enough. Get ready for me to mop this low rent Duel Academy floor with you Jaden. I activate Armed Dragon's special ability again. So I'm discarding my Despair from the Dark, and it has 2800 attack points, which means your bird man is headed to the pet cemetery. Now Armed Dragon, destroy Tempest with Shrapnel Blast!

Zane: Not good. If Tempest is destroyed, Jaden will have nothing to protect him from Chazz's next attack.

Jaden: I activate the spell De-Fusion! This will return Tempest to the extra deck, and then let me summon the monsters I fused to make him from my graveyard, so I summon Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman in defense mode!

Syrus: Talk about close.

Chumley: No kidding.

Chazz: Whatever. My Armed Dragon still has his attack for this turn. Destroy Sparkman with Inferno Roar!

Jaden: Thanks for the save, Sparkman.

Chazz: Your monster may have saved your life points, but nothing will save you from what I'm planning next. I'm taking this duel to the next level. During my end phase, since Armed Dragon LV 5 destroyed one of your monsters in battle this turn, I can send him to my graveyard to summon Armed Dragon LV 7!

Level 7/Wind/Dragon

ATK 2800/DEF 1000

NAS: Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up!

Jaden: Okay, so he's big. Who knows, he could be friendly.

Jagger: Wait a minute, that monster wasn't in the suitcase I gave Chazz.

Slade: What?!

Sheppard: Come on Jaden, we're with you! Come on everybody, Jaden it up!

Chazz: Tell him how it really goes!

NAS: Chazz it up! Show him no mercy!

Chazz: What's wrong Jaden? Not feeling so talkative now that you're faced with my Armed Dragon? Don't have anything to say, Jaden?

Jaden: Yeah I do. I gotta get me one of those. He's so cool! Trade for him?

Chazz: No, I won't trade you for him! What's the matter with you? You should be scared of him, not admiring him!

Jaden: But how could I not? He's an incredible monster and this has been an incredible duel. How could anyone not be excited? I mean, this is as good as it gets! This is what dueling is all about, thanks Chazz!

Chazz: You're thanking me? You're pitiful Jaden. Jumping up and down like some fool, never taking anything seriously. That's why you'll never be a champion. It takes discipline to win. You need to have a sense of duty. You need to have some kind of plan. I have a plan, and I have a sense of duty, and that's why I'm going to beat you Jaden. That's why I'll beat anyone in my way! I can conquer anyone! Got that! I'm gonna conquer the whole world!

Michael: Sense of duty? Conquer the world? What is he talking about? Wait, Chazz's brothers. I get it now. They're the reason why Chazz always puts so much pressure on himself to be the best. I guess in a way, Chazz and I are more alike than I realized. We were both pushed by our families to be the best we could, but the difference between us is that my parents were doing what was best for me and others, whereas Chazz's brothers only pushed him for their benefit.

Jaden: Okaaay Chazz, well if you don't mind, can I take my turn first?

Chazz: Make it quick!

Jaden: Chill! I summon Wroughtweiler in defense mode.

Level 3/Earth/Machine

ATK 800/DEF 1200

Jaden: Next, I'll throw down a face-down and let you go. Quick enough for ya?

Chazz: Not bad. But downright sluggish compared to how fast my dragon's gonna take down all of your monsters. I activate Armed Dragon's special ability. By discarding a monster card, all your monster with attack points less than or equal to the one I discarded are destroyed.

Jaden: Not good.

Alexis: If he does that, Jaden will be wide open!

Crowler: Dear me.

Zane: That is one impressive special ability.

Michael: Tell me how impressive it is when it's used on you.

Lily: No kidding.

Chazz: I discard Armed Dragon LV 3, and in case you forgot, it has 1200 attack points, which means all your monsters are destroyed. Go Serrated Sonic Discs!

His dragon fired a volley of energy blades from its stomach at Jaden's monsters, destroying them all at once.

Syrus: Jaden!

Lily: They're all gone!

Sheppard: It's okay, you can still comeback from this!

Jaden: I activate Wroughtweiler's special ability, which means I can add Polymerization and Burstinatrix from my graveyard to my hand.

Chazz: As if it'll matter you Duel Academy stooge. This duel's over. It's time for you to lose. Armed Dragon LV 7, attack with Dragon Talon Terror!

Syrus: Jaden!

Michael: If he can't stop this attack, it's over!

To be continued...
