It was another day at Duel Academy, and the gang was in Banner's duel history class.
Banner: You all know Yugi Moto and Seto Kaiba as dueling legends, by far the best of their generation.
Female Student: And the best looking too. They're total dreamboats.
Male Student: I like Mai Valentine.
Banner: But there were other great duelists well before all of them.
Jaden: But how is that professor? Duel Monsters hasn't been around all that long.
Syrus: Guess you were asleep that day. They used to play back in ancient Egypt.
Jaden: That so?
Banner: Indeed. And one of the best duelists of that age was the pharaoh Abidos the Third, who stood undefeated.
Jaden: Undefeated? He must've been something else. Of course it's a good thing he's not around today, otherwise that undefeated record would go adios.
Chazz: Sure slacker, and then you'd beat Yugi and Kaiba too.
Jaden: You think? Well thanks Chazz, I didn't know you believed in me so much.
Chazz: It's sarcasm, got that?
Jaden: Sure, but if you wanna change your name Chazz, you can do a lot better than "Sarcasm".
Chazz: You know what I meant!
He leaned forward and put Jaden in a headlock.
Michael: Not again.
Lily: You'd think at this point that Professor Banner would assign them different seats.
Banner: An excellent suggestion Ms. Greenfield, but I think that detention will suffice for now.
Syrus: I don't believe it, that makes 5 times in one week.
That night, Zane met Alexis down at the lighthouse.
Alexis: Thanks for coming Zane, I just needed someone to talk to. I thought having my brother back would make everything okay again, but it seems like there are more questions than ever now. And then what with the Shadow Riders, I just don't know what to do Zane.
Zane: We'll figure it out. Once the Shadow Riders are defeated, we'll have plenty of time to figure out what happened to your brother, I promise.
Suddenly, part of the ground near them broke away, and several mummies climbed up before moving towards them.
Zane: What in the world?
Meanwhile, Jaden, Syrus, and Chazz were walking back to the Slifer Dorm.
Syrus: I spend more time in detention than I do in class. My mom's gonna kill me when she finds out.
Jaden: Just blame Sarcasm.
Chazz: Okay, the joke's old.
Syrus: At least things can't get worse.
Alexis: Ahh!
The three of them looked down and saw the mummies walking towards Alexis and Zane.
Jaden: Alexis!
Chazz: Are those real mummies?
Syrus: It looks like it.
Zane: Save yourselves!
Jaden: No chance!
The three of them began to run down to help them, but before they could, they were blocked by more mummies.
Mummy: Give us the spirit key.
Jaden: My key?
Chazz: They're with the Shadow Riders!
Suddenly, a bright light shone down from the sky. Everyone looked up and saw a golden shape in the shape of a woman floating in the sky.
?: Duelists, I have come for you.
The light from the ship intensified, blinding everyone for a moment. When the light faded, they were standing on the deck of the ship alongside Michael and Lily.
Michael: Are you guys okay?
Jaden: We're fine. What about you?
Lily: We're okay. Those mummies showed up and brought us here.
?: Welcome to my vessel.
They all turned to the person who spoke, the person in question being a man dressed like an Egyptian pharaoh wearing a golden mask.
Michael: Wait a minute, he looks the picture Banner showed us in class today of Abidos the Third.
Lily: But he lived thousands of years ago. How is that possible?
Abidos: You would make a fine palace girl my beautiful doll.
Michael: Back off creep.
Chazz: So you're a Shadow Rider right?
Abidos: That's right, so just leave your keys and walk away. You don't want to duel me.
Lily: I do.
Michael: Are you sure Lily?
Lily: Yeah. Pharoah or not, no one treats me like a thing and gets away with it.
Alexis: You go girl.
Michael: Okay, just be careful.
Lily: I will be. Now bring it on Abidos!
Abidos: Very well then.
Both: Duel!
Abidos: 4000 LP
Lily: 4000 LP
Abidos: I shall take the first move. I summon Pharaonic Protector in defense mode.
Level 2/Earth/Zombie

Syrus: It has 0 defense points?
Abidos: I'll lay one card face-down and end my turn.
Lily: My turn, I draw! I summon the monster Queen's Knight in attack mode!
Level 4/Light/Warrior

Lily: And now I play the equip spell Fairy Meteor Crush! With this card equipped, if my knight attacks one of your monsters in defense mode, the difference between her attack and your monster's defense is dealt to you as damage. Now Queen's Knight, attack with Queen's Slash!
Queen's Knight charged Pharaonic Protector and slashed him across the chest, destroying him.
Abidos: 2500 LP
Lily: I end my turn.
Abidos: Not before I activate this, the continuous trap known as The First Sarcophagus. During each of your end phases, I can place another Sarcophagus card from my deck in my spell and trap zone, and you won't like what happens when I have all three. A patch of quicksand sprung up underneath Queen's Knight and two mummified hands dragged her down.

Michael: Lily!
Lily: I'm okay.
Abidos: I place one card face-down and end my turn. It's your move key-keeper.
Lily: I draw! I play the spell card Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your First Sarcophagus!
Chazz: Alright, now she can get rid of it before its effect activates.
Abidos: I think not. I discard one card to activate the trap Magic Jammer, which will negate your spell card and destroy it.
Jaden: So much for that.
Lily: I summon Beautiful Headhuntress in attack mode.

Lily: Now attack!
Abidos: 1800 LP
Abidos: You can't attack me.
Chazz: What is he talking about? Of course she can.
Abidos: But I am Abidos. I am the greatest duelist ever.
Michael: Hardly. For an undefeated legend, his deck is full of weak monsters and average spells and traps.
Abidos: Could it be all my servants let me win?
Chazz: Wow, that's pathetic.
Alexis: So his whole life was a lie?
Jaden: You never really dueled?

Lily: Well then, let's make your first real duel a memorable one.

He reached up and pulled off his mask, revealing his face.
Abidos: Promise me you'll give it your best.

Abidos: But not before I activate the Third Sarcophagus. And now that all three have been played, the effect of The First Sarcophagus activates, sending all three to the grave so that I may summon Spirit of the Pharaoh!

Abidos: Very well then. I shall play the spell Soul Guide. By sacrificing my Pharaoh's Servant, I can gain life points equal to either his attack points or his defense points, and I choose attack points. Additionally, I may take a monster with the same name from my deck and add it to my hand.

Zane: Now both their hands contain a total of 12 cards.

Abidos: 6000 attack points?!
Lily: And now I play the spell Pot of Avarice. By shuffling five monsters from my graveyard into my deck, I can draw 2 cards.
Joker: 6000-6500 ATK
Lily: Now Triumph Joker, attack Spirit of the Pharaoh with Royal Slash!
Abidos: 0 LP
Winner: Lily
Michael: You did it!
Zane: That was an impressive move.
Chazz: Big fat hairy deal. Ojama Delta Hurricane is just as good.
Syrus: Abidos doesn't look so hot.
Lily: Are you okay?
Abidos: I used to think I was the greatest duelist of all time. Now I know that I need a lot of practice if I want to be a true dueling legend.
Lily: I'm sure you will be.
Abidos: There's one last thing I want to say.
Lily: What's that?
Abidos: I'd like for you to return with me. I could make you a queen, and you would never want for anything again.
Lily: I'm sorry, but I can't accept.
Abidos: But why not?
Lily: Because everything I want in life is right here.
Abidos: I understand. I want you to take this.
He removed his shadow charm and gave it to Lily.
Lily: Thank you.
Abidos: And now I bid you all farewell.
There was another bright flash of light and they found themselves on the ground. They looked up but Abidos' ship was gone.
Lily: You know, he wasn't such a bad guy.
Michael: I'm just glad you decided to stay.
Lily: Like I said, everything I want is right here in front of me. How could I ever give that up?
Chazz: Gag me.
