Chapter 5 Enter MacBeth

It had been a few days since Elizabeth was shot before she was released till the Doctors deemed her healthy enough to leave, but she was on crutches for a week. The Trio stayed with her when she was in hospital under Goliath's orders. Brooklyn never left her side less the doctors needed to see her.

Elizabeth hopped into the jail meeting room on crutches. Elisa and Brooklyn were the only ones that knew she was coming to talk to her brother. He was going to be released in three days. She sat down in the chair and leaned the crutches up against the wall. She was here to talk to her brother, who was going to be released in three days. Brooklyn thought she was nuts about coming to talk to her brother, but she had to. She watched as David came into the room. A look of surprised fell on his face as he saw his sister sitting there as he sat down.

"Owen said you were coming, but I didn't think he was right. Its good to see you, Liz." David said.

"To you, its Elizabeth. The Gargoyles are the only ones allowed to call me that." Elizabeth said.

"What brings you here?" David said, crossing his arms.

"Me and Elisa will have the Gargoyles out before you are out, David. I don't want you getting ideas of trying to have them killed before we do so. I know you sent the Pack to kill them. I don't think you expected me to show up to help." Elizabeth said.

"Alright. I promise I won't." David said. She had a feeling if he had another option then he will take that.

"Another thing." Elizabeth said.

"What is it now?" David asked. Elizabeth sighed.

"I want a guarantee that I can come get my stuff with the Gargoyles along with a couch and tv without you attacking us." Elizabeth said. David felt his heart drop. He had a feeling that she would go with the Gargoyles.

"Elizabeth." David said.

"Don't Elizabeth me. I don't trust you right now and if you want to stay close you'll let me do that." Elizabeth said. David and her stared each other down. They were a few years apart with her being the youngest, but she was the only one that could put her brother in place and scare him. David nodded.

"Alright. You can come get the stuff and we will leave you alone when you do." David said. Elizabeth grabbed her crutches.

"Thank you." Elizabeth said.

"I heard from Owen your in love with one of them." David said as she stood up with the crutches. She turned and glared at him.

"I don't see how its any of your business who I fall for. You lost your chance with Fox and she was one of the girls I liked that you dated." Elizabeth said.

"I liked you better with the one you broke up with in high school, not a monster." David said. Elizabeth hopped towards the door.

"Like I said, its none of your concern." Elizabeth said. She walked out. She ran into Owen as he was coming to talk to her brother. Owen gave her a nod as she hopped out towards the gate. Elisa was waiting for her.

"How it go?" Elisa asked as she got in.

"Well. He's gonna hold up my wishes. Let's see if he will." Elizabeth said. Elisa nodded. They both didn't trust Xanatos. They went and got lunch. Elizabeth picked at her food.

"Got any plans tonight?" Elisa asked.

"Brooklyn and I are going out for some dinner and movie. Just us." Elizabeth said with a blush.

"Starting to date?" Elisa asked with a smile.

"Yes." Elizabeth said, as she took a bite out of her burger. Elisa smiled happy to see her friend happier then she has been in a few years.

"Glad to see you happy Liz. Brooklyn is a good one." Elizabeth said.

"Thanks Elisa. I know he is." Elizabeth said with a smile. Elisa returned the smile as they finished their lunch and Elisa took her back to the castle.

That night. Elizabeth and Elisa walked up the steps to where the Gargoyles were perched. They froze when they saw an old man standing behind the gargoyles. Elizabeth and Elisa shared worried looks.

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Elizabeth said. The man turned to the girls.

"I'd hate to spoil the surprised by telling you, ladies." The man said with a bow.

"I hate surprises." Elisa said. She pulls out her badge and shows him. "Now who are you?"

"I'm called MacBeth." MacBeth said. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow.

"Like the King from the Shakesphere play?" Elizabeth asked.

"The one and only." MacBeth said.

"Impossible." Elizabeth said.

"Let's step inside and discuss this." Elisa said, noticing the sun going down.

"You protect no secrets, ladies." MacBeth said. He turns towards the Gargoyles. I know all about these creatures." Elizabeth shared a worried look with Elisa as the sun went down in the horizon. The sones started cracking and the Gargoyles burst from them, roaring. Elizabeth didn't miss the grin that spread across Macbeth's face. Brooklyn turned and smiled when he saw Elizabeth, but the smile disappeared when he noticed MacBeth.

"Elisa. Elizabeth. Whose your friend?" Lexington said. The Gargoyles jumped down from their perches.

"You ok, Elizabeth? This guy bothering you two?" Broadway asked. Bronx was growling at the guy. Brooklyn came next to Elizabeth as the Gargoyles stared at the man.

"I'm here to offer an invitation. Leave this draughty castle. Be guests at my home." MacBeth said.

"I'm afraid we must refuse." Goliath said.

"And I'm afraid I must insist." MacBeth said. He opened his coat and saw weapons. Brooklyn pulled Elizabeth and Elisa out of the way and near Goliath. He kept a hand on Elizabeth's arm. "I've not stooped so low to attack while you slept. But now..."

"I don't like your attitude." Broadway said. He approached MacBeth. "I think you better leave." MacBeth grabs Broadway's claw and throws him towards the Gargoyles. He hits Hudson and they go flying over the wall. MacBeth sends some balls and they produce smoke. Brooklyn let go of Elizabeth as they coughed. Bronx goes running as MacBeth put on some goggles to see through the smoke as the others cough. Bronx runs towards him and jumps at MacBeth. MacBeth moves and Bronx and Lexington collide and move away from the others. Elizabeth rubs her eyes to see MacBeth shoot a net at the two and the two yell as the net sent electricity through them. Elizabeth and Elisa pulled out their guns as Goliath runs at MacBeth for an attack. MacBeth moves out of the way. He runs at Brooklyn and Kicks him off the wall.

"BROOKLYN!" Elizabeth yells. She runs to the wall to see Brooklyn get a net shot at him and electric roll through his body. "Fudge monkey's." Goliath jumps from the tower. Elisa and Elizabeth head down the stairs. By the time they got down. MacBeth was leaving with Brooklyn, Bronx, and Lexington. Goliath was trying to stop him when electric through and he hits the ground. Elisa and Elizabeth looked worried as Goliath shook his head no. Goliath got up and Elisa went up to him.

"I don't want to hear it anymore." Goliath said. Elizabeth sighed.

"You're not safe here." Elisa said.

"She's right. After what MacBeth did. None of you are safe." Elizabeth said, hopping over.

"No! You don't understand. We've lost our clan, our world, our time! This castle is all we have. We will not abandon it." Goliath said.

"What? You will need a castle to fall on you?" Elizabeth asked.

"Read my lips. You're not safe here! What if the next freak job Xanatos hires shows up with a sledgehammer at high noon. Elizabeth and I can't protect you during the day." Elisa said. Goliath walks towards the two remaining Gargoyles.

"I'm going to find them. And you two stay here and protect our home." Goliath said. He ran and jumped off the side. Elizabeth and Elisa came to the other two as they watch as Goliath fly off.

"Why won't he listen to us? It's obvious that you can't stay here." Elisa said.

"I think Elisa and Elizabeth are right." Broadway said.

"What you say makes sense, lass, but Golaith is our leader. I cannot go against his wishes." Hudson said. Elizabeth turned to Hudson

"Your loyalty is admirable, but he told you to protect your home?" Elizabeth asked.

"Aye. That he did." Hudson said.

"We know that this isn't your home anymore." Elisa said. Hudson sighed but nodded, knowing the lass was right.

"Me and Elisa have found a new home for all of you. We been working on it for awhile when we knew Xanatos's release date. I'm coming with." Elizabeth said.

"Liz. You don't have to." Broadway said.

"I can't trust my brother with you coming to get me or Brooklyn visiting. He's gonna let me come get my stuff." Elizabeth said.

"He just broke his promise, Liz. How do you know he will." Elisa said.

"I'll make sure he does." Elizabeth said. They headed into the castle to get the Grimorum.

"Goliath isn't going to like this." Hudson said.

"He doesn't have to like it." Elisa said.

"He just has to realize he has no choice." Elizabeth said.

"They are right. We're sitting dorks here." Broadway said. Elizabeth laughed and Elisa smiled.

"Ducks, Broadway. Sitting ducks." Elisa said.

"Come, we can't leave the Grimorum in Xanatos's hands." Elizabeth said. Hudson nodded.

"Aye." Hudson said. Hudson pushes the doors open to the room where the Grimorum was held. They walked up to it and Owen stepped in front of them, making Elizabeth groan.

I'm afraid I can't allow this. This book's the property of Mr. Xanatos." Owen said.

"And I'm his sister so technically it belongs to me." Elizabeth said.

"Who's going to stop us? You?" Hudson asked. Owen put his glasses away.

"Indeed." Owen said. He grabbed Hudson's arm and uses his foot to knock Hudson to the ground. Owen pulled a gun out and pointed it at Broadway. Elizabeth lifts up her crutch. "You're trespassing!" Elizabeth tosses her crutch, knocking the gun out of Owen's hand. Broadway grabs him and throws him across the room. Elizabeth hops to the case and enters the code. She lifts the glass and grabs the Grimorum.

"We'll be going now. Make sure Xanatos keeps his end of the bargain and let me and the Gargoyles get the rest of my stuff if he wants to stay close with me." Elizabeth said as Broadway gives her the other crutch. He takes the Grimorum and they walk out. Hudson picks up Elizabeth and Broadway takes Elisa and they fly to a building to wait for the others. It took an hour before they spotted them.

"GOLIATH!" Broadway called. Goliath and the others fly towards them and land. Elizabeth hops up to Brooklyn as he lets go of Bronx and hugs him.

"I'm glad your safe." Elizabeth said as he returns her hug.

"What are you doing here? Why aren't you guarding our home?" Goliath demands.

"You don't live there anymore." Elisa said.

"What?" Goliath said, turning on Elisa.

"Elisa and I found you a new home." Elizabeth said as she stands next to Brooklyn, who wraps an arm around her.

"How dare you! I told you two that the castle is our home." Goliath said. Broadway jumps in between Goliath and Elisa.

"No, Goliath. They are right! It's suicide to stay there." Broadway said. Hudson comes up to Goliath and puts a hand on his shoulder.

"Lad. They're right, you know it. It's just a place of stone and wood. Home is more than that, Goliath. Home is the six of us along with Elisa and Elizabeth. Wherever we can be together and safe." Hudson said. Elisa and Elizabeth smiled. Goliath growls. "That's our home." Goliath roars. Goliath turns to the castle. "Come, Goliath. Let's be going."

"Give me one minute." Goliath said, flying off. The trio turns to Elizabeth.

"What about you?" Brooklyn asked.

"Well like I promised. I'm moving with you. I'll just need you three to help me move." Elizabeth said with a grin. The trio smiled. "Elisa said I can crash at her place when I have to work and school. Brooklyn can pick me up when done."

"Of course. Long as we stick together." Brooklyn said, scooping up Elizabeth. She nuzzled his neck, making him smile. Broadway grabs Elisa.

"Let's go home." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles flew till they reached the clock tower where the police station was. Brooklyn set her down as they enter. Lexington goes over to the gears. Brooklyn was looking around. Goliath soon joins them.

"Uh I bet I could get this thing working again." Lexington said.

"Why would you want to?" Brooklyn said. Elizabeth chuckled. Hudson walks to the lads.

"It's not so bad. There's a place right over there for a television." Hudson said, pointing to the area.

"With a couch and everything else I plan to bring. It will work." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn grinned at her.

"I owe you a date." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth smiled.

"Soon as we get me moved in. We will defently have it." Elizabeth said. Elisa came down the steps.

"Ok. It's a fixer upper. But a few throw rugs, some flowers. It could be home." Elisa said, looking at Goliath. Goliath turned towards everyone.

"Yes. As long as we're together. It's home." Goliath said. Elisa and Elizabeth came to where the gargoyles will sleep.

"I'll be at Elisa's when you wake. You three meet me there and we will start getting stuff moved in." Elizabeth said. The Trio nodded. Brooklyn kissed Elizabeth's check.

"I'll see you after sunset, Liz." Brooklyn said as he jumped on his perch as the sun rose, freezing them to stone.

"What a night." Elizabeth said.

"We got the Gargoyles out." Elisa said as they head to leave.

"Yes we did and I can rest easy knowing they will be safe." Elizabeth said. They left the clock tower to get some needed sleep at Elisa's.
