It had been a week since the Gargoyles and Elizabeth moved into the clock tower. It took a few days but with the Trio's help, Elizabeth was able to move the things she needed to be brought to the clocktower with a couch and chair. Xanatos had kept his word and left her and the Gargoyles along while they got her moved. Elisa was bringing a television for Hudson and so Elizabeth had something to watch when she had homework to do.
It had been a long day for Elizabeth with working and homework. She was fast asleep on the couch wrapped in a blanket when roaring woke her and she stretched as she sat up as the Gargoyles came in.
"Morning guys." Elizabeth said, kicking the blanket off and getting up.
"Did Elisa bring the telivision?" Hudson asked.
"Last I talked to her she said she was and she'll bring it up after a meeting with the captain." Elizabeth said as she went behind a curtain she had hung up where her things were and she could change in privacy. She changed and came out to see Broadway cooking and Hudson sitting in his chair. Brooklyn was sitting on the couch as she came over and joined him. Lexington was driving the toy car she brought for him around the clock tower. Brooklyn grinned as she sat next to him and he put an arm behind her. Bronx laid on the floor by their feet, sleeping.
"How was work?" Brooklyn asked.
"Decent. I was just worn out from working then homework." Elizabeth said. Broooklyn grinned as they heard the trapdoor open and Elisa coming up the steps carrying the TV.
"Let me help you, Elisa." Broadway said, running over and taking the tv from her.
"Thanks Broadway." Elisa said as Broadway brought the TV over to the stand Elizabeth had set up for the TV when they got it. Lexington drove his little toy car under Elisa's feet, nearly tripping her. "HEY!"
"Neay toy, huh?" Lexington asked as he zoomed the car away.
"Heh. Yeah. Slow it down or I'll give you a ticket." Elisa said. Elizabeth got off the couch and went to set up the tv. "Where's Goliath?"
"Down in the library." Elizabeth said, over her shoulder as she set up the TV.
"You staying for breakfast?" Broadway asked as he went back to cooking.
"No thanks. I gotta get back to work soon." Elisa said, as she left the clocktower. Elizabeth got the Tv set up as the Gargoyles watch her.
"Done." Elizabeth said as Goliath and Elisa came up and joined them. Elizabeth grabbed the remote as she came to Brooklyn's side and turned on the tv and left it on mute for now.
"Well it's not a six foot screen but I hope it'll do." Elisa siad.
"Its a grand gift, lassies. Thank you." Hudson said. The screen flips to the museum and Elizabeth gasps when she sees her brother standing in front of a podium in a museum.
"Xanatos!" Goliath growled. Brooklyn unmutes the tv.
"This is Travish Marshall at the Museum of Modern Art. Where one of the world's most priceless jewels. The Eye of Odin." Travis said. The eye of Odin was shown on the screen. Elizabeth gasped. "Is being donated by David Xanatos from his private collection." The screen shows Travis Marshall talking with David Xanatos. The Gargoyles looked mad and annoyed as Elisa and Elizabeth shared looks. "This is quite a philanthropic act, Mr. Xanatos. The eye is worth millions to just give it away?"
"Well, Travis, I just felt that the eye should be shared with the world instead of locked away in my personal museum." David said.
"What are you planning, David." Elizabeth whispered.
"Besides. It's a great tax write off." David said. Elizabeth rolls her eyes.
"A grand gestre from a man known for grand gestures." Travis Marshall said. Goliath roars. The Gargoyles look at him in shock. Goliath turns and runs out of the clocktower. Elizabeth and Brooklyn shared worried looks.
"A few more donations like this and New York might even forget about your prison record." Travis said, pulling them back to the TV screen.
"I made a mistake, Mr. Marshall. I paid my debt to society. All I'm trying to do now is give something to benefit others. Would you rather I kept the eye?" David said. Elizabeth took the channel turner and changed the channel.
"He's only doing it to benifit himself." Elizabeth said, handing the remote to Hudson and heads outside the clocktower to lean against the railing and look over the rooftops of buildings. Brooklyn came out.
"Want to go get away and get food." Brooklyn said.
"Broadway eat most of the food already." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn scooped her up.
"No. Figured you needed to get away." Brooklyn said. She smiled as he scooped her up and took off. Elizabeth kept her arms around his neck. "Have you talked to your brother since he got out of jail?" Elizabeth shook her head.
"He tried calling a few times, but I haven't answered his calls." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn gave her a nod as he flew to their favorite Chinease Restraunt. He landed into the alley and set Elizabeth down. Elizabeth hurried into the Chinease Restraunt. She got the food they both liked and bought the food. She came out with the food and climbed onto Brooklyn's back. He climbed the wall and they sat on the roof, eating.
"First time alone in a few days." Elizabeth said as she ate a dumpling and smiled at Brooklyn. Brooklyn grinned.
"Sure is. You seemed like you needed to get out." Brooklyn said.
"I appreciate it. We need to do this often. I love going with your brothers, but we should get some alone time here and there." Elizabeth said as they finish their food.
"I agree. They will understand." Brooklyn said as he stood up. He held his hand out for Elizabeth and she took it. He helped her up. He pulled her into a hug, which she happily returned. "You make me happy, Liz. I'm glad you convinced your brother to free us." Elizabeth smiled up at him.
"I'm glad I did as well." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn gave her a quick kiss, before he scooped her up and flew back towards the clock tower. It was getting close to sunset. He landed on his perch and set her down as the other Gargoyles soon joined them. Goliath was staring towards the horizon where the sun was to rise.
"I'll see you tonight." Brooklyn said as she gave him a smile.
"Yes." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn turned to face the sun and got in a stance as the sun froze him and the others to sleep. Elizabeth went to work on some homework, wrapped in a blanket on the couch with the TV going.
"Breaking news. The Museum of Modern Art was robbed last night." Travis Marshall said. Elizabeth looked up from her Essay she was typing on her laptop.
"What?" Elizabeth said.
"The eye was stolen and we got the security tape of who stole it." Travis Marshall said. Elizabeth put her laptop and stood with her arms as she watched. A gargoyle that almost looked like Goliath walk up to the case that held the eye of Odin and smash the glass. He grabbed the Eye of Odin and walked out. "According to witnesses, this Gargoyle like creature attacked a guard and then flew away from the scene." Elizabeth looked towards where the Gargoyles were sleeping.
"That doesn't sound like Goliath. Guess we will find out tonight." Elizabeth said as she flipped on to some show and sat back down to watch it as she worked on her essay. She finished and laid down to sleep. She woke up to Elisa coming up. Elizabeth stretched.
"Don't say anything. I saw it on the news this morning." Elizabeth said.
"I don't think its Goliath. When my new partner shot at it, It bounced off with a clang." Elisa said as they walked up the steps to go to the Gargoyles.
"Impossible. We destroyed the steal clan." Elizabeth said.
"I know, but Xanatos could have restored them." Elisa pointed out.
"You got a point. Goliath is not going to be happy about this." Elizabeth said. Elisa nodded in agreement as they walked out as the sunset. The stones started to crack and the Gargoyles burst from the stone. It never got old for Elizabeth. Brooklyn turned and jumped down to hug Elizabeth.
"Something wrong Elisa?" Goliath asked as he saw her frown. Brooklyn saw Elizabeth had a worried look.
"You alright?" Brooklyn asked.
"I'm fine. Let's all go inside and talk." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles stood inside and listened as Elisa and Elizabeth explained what had happened at the museum.
"So there you have it. Someone's impersonating you, Goliath." Elisa said. Brooklyn rubbed his beak.
"Do you think it's possible there are other gargoyles alive out there?" Brooklyn asked.
"You guys are tough, but you're not bulletproof." Elizabeth said.
"I heard Matt's slugs bounce off metal." Elisa said.
"Xanatos's robots." Goliath said.
"That's what I said." Elizabeth said.
"The steel clan? I thought we destroyed them." Broadway said.
"We did." Elizabeth said.
"He must of made more." Goliath said.
"It makes no sense. Why would Xanatos donate the Jewel to the Museum and then have it stolen." Hudson said.
"He always has a motive. No doubt he has some sort of devious plan in mind." Elizabeth said, rubbing her temples.
"Hudson, you and Bronx guard our new home. The rest of you, come with me. Elizabeth. Come with. I know you can hold your ground against your brother." Goliath said. Elizabeth ran to get her gun and put it in its holder. The Gargoyles were heading up the steps. Elisa ran to stop them. She got in front of Goliath as Elizabeth joined the Trio.
"Where are you going?" Elisa asked.
"To deal with Xanatos." Goliath said.
"Hold on Goliath. I wouldn't take the chance of being seen if I were you. You're not rating very high in public opinion polls right now." Elisa said.
"No Elisa. No more hiding. Xanatos will anser to me for this." Goliath said, pushing Elisa out of the way.
"Goliath wait." Elisa said.
"Sorry. Elisa. I'll keep an eye on them." Elizabeth said as the trio and her walked out. Brooklyn scooped up Elizabeth as Goliath took off and the Trio took off after him.
"I don't like this. I get a feeling David will be waiting for us." Elizabeth whispered to Brooklyn. Brooklyn nodded.
"Just stay close to us." Brooklyn said as they neared the casle. The Trio land on the wall and Elizabeth saw her brother waiting in the courtyard, wearing a trenchcoat. Goliath flew into the courtyard. She kept a hand on Brooklyn's arm. David's eyes land on her and she didn't miss the surprise look in his eyes, seeing his sister with the Gargoyles. Goliath landed on the ground.
"Xanatos, you have gone to far. First you steal our home and now you steal our very identities." Goliath said, anger clear in his voice.
"You've got it all wrong. I'm the best friend you have in this world." Xanatos said. Goliath snarled and let out a roar. Brooklyn nearly had to grab Elizabeth from jumping off the wall to stop Goliath. She saw Goliath's hands were shaking.
"Brooklyn please." Elizabeth said.
"Let them talk for now." Brooklyn said.
"You see, soon, everybody in the Big Apple will be hunting Gargoyles." Xanatos said.
"David, no." Elizabeth said as Brooklyn held onto her.
"Because of you!" Goliath said. Xanatos shook a finger at him.
"If you want to be picky. We won't get anywhere. Let's try to focus on the big picture, Goliath. I've got a reserch facility upstate where you and your friend could be comfortable." Xanatos said.
"DAVID!" Elizabeth shouted, nearly breaking free from Brooklyn, who had a good grip on her. "They are NOT reserch subjects and I won't let you. Brooklyn. Let me GO!" Elizabeth nearly growled at Brooklyn.
"What?!" Goliath growled.
"Doesn't seem a difficult choice to me. Stay here in the city and be hunted down like animals or be my guests in a safe haven. What do you say?" Xanatos said. Goliath roars and breaks one of the lights. Elizabeth shook her head at her brother as Goliath ran towards the steps and jumps on the wall.
"Let's go!" Goliath said. Brooklyn scoops up Elizabeth as the Trio jump off the wall after their leader. They flew in silence.
"Did Xanatos admit he was..." Brooklyn started.
"I don't want to talk about it." Goliath shouted making Elizabeth and Brooklyn flinch. A gunshot comes and hits Goliath.
"Goliath!" Elizabeth shouted. Goliath fell and hit a satelite. Elizabeth looked over Brooklyn's shoulder and gasped. The steal clan, led by a red one was flying towards them. One brought up a laser and shot at the Trio. Elizabeth burried her face in Brooklyn's neck as he dodged the blasts, holding her tightly to him.
"It's the Steal clan." Lexington shouted. The steal clan kept shooting at the Gargoyles.
"Remind me to disown my brother next time I talk to him." Elizabeth said as she held on tight to Brooklyn as he dodged the blasts.
"I will. Just hold on to me." Brooklyn said. She held on as he tried to fly out of the firing range. Broadway and Lexington were knocked out of the sky.
"NO!" Elizabeth shouted, reaching for her gun. She lets go of Broooklyn in order to aim the gun over his shoulder and takes some shots at one of the Steal clan. Her shots don't even stop them.
"I'm dropping you off by the others." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth nodded as he flew and dropped her by Broadway, who was grabbing Lexington, who was hanging off a metal piece. Brooklyn flew and landed on one and tried to take control of it. The steal clan sent electric through Brooklyn.
"Brooklyn!" Elizabeth cried out as he was sent flying to where the other Gargoyles were. Elizabeth ran to him and helped him up. "You alright?"
"I'm fine." Brooklyn said. Suddenly the Steal clan burst through the bricks that were behind them and Brooklyn wrapped Elizabeth in his wings as the bricks fell on them. The Gargoyles burst through the bricks to see the Steal Clan come flying back towards them. Brooklyn held Elizabeth close as they neared them. They came to a stop and floated right above them.
"What are they doing?" Elizabeth said in a whisper. Lexington seemed to wake up.
"Hey, we're still alive. How come?" Lexington said.
"It's like they're waiting for something." Brooklyn said.
"No doubt for us to lead them back to our new santuary." Goliath said. Goliath broke through the bricks and Brooklyn helped Elizabeth get out of the bricks as Broadway and Lexington got free as well.
"But why? Why not just kill us?" Broadway asked.
"Because he won't kill me and he knows I won't handle it." Elizabeth said.
"That and because Xanatos doesn't want to destroy us. He wants to dominate us." Goliath said.
"He's probably controlling them by radio. Like that toy car I have." Lexington said.
"He's right Goliath." Elizabeth said.
"Yes. So what do we do now?" Brooklyn asked.
"We can't lead them back to the clock tower." Elizabeth said, looking at Goliath.
"And we can't stay here. It's not long till sunrise." Goliath said.
"We could tackle them again." Broadway said.
"Yeah. I'm really looking forward to that." Brooklyn said, rubbing his head. "They're tougher than the last batch we fought."
"Yeah, particularly that one." Lexington said, nodding towards the red one. Elizabeth eyed the red one. It seemed to be the leader. She wondered if he was the one that stole the Eye of Odin.
"We must continue the fight someplace isolated. Come!" Goliath said. Brooklyn scooped up Elizabeth and the Gargoyles ran to jump off the roof with the Steel Clan behind them. Spotlights were shinning towards them.
"Looks like the lasers caught the attention of the police." Elizabeth said as they flew away from the spotlights and away from Manhatten. They headed towards the bay.
"Where are we going, Goliath?" Lexington asked.
"There." Goliath said, pointing. Elizabeth saw the Statue of Liberty. They flew towards the statue and landed on the head. Brooklyn set Elizabeth down and she held her gun ready for a fight as Brooklyn kept a hand on her back as Goliath looked to see if the Steel Clan was following. "You take the others. I'll handle the leader. Elizabeth stay here and keep an eye on them."
"Got ya. Stay safe." Elizabeth said. The leader points a laser at them and fires. The Gargoyles jump off and fly off. Elizabeth took aim at the leader and took a few shots to distract him as Goliath flew towards him. Broadway leads one away and let's him take some shots at him. Elizabeth knelt on the head as she kept an eye on all the Steel clan. Broadway flies past the one that was following him and took a nose dive towards the statue and lifts up as he neared the tablet the statue was holding and the steel clan collided with it and was destroyed. "Awesome." Elizabeth smiled.
Goliath and the Leader were flying side by side. The leader was dodging Goliath. The leader took a swipe at Goliath, who dodges it easily. Goliath comes down and collides with the Leader. The leader uses a rocket to fly, bringing Goliath with him. Elizabeth eyes went towards Brooklyn and Lexington, who were flying together with another Steel Clan behind them.
"Come on." Elizabeth whispered. Broadway flew back towards the destroyed Steel Clan and grabbed one of the hands and flew back towards his brothers. Lexington landed on the back. The steel clan tried to flip him off when that didn't work. The Robot sent electricity through Lexington. "Lexington!" Broadway takes the arm and throws it right at the robot and it hits him and it blows up. Elizabeth sighed in relief as the Trio flies and lands on the head with Elizabeth.
"Just the leader now." Brooklyn said. The leader was trying to throw off Goliath.
"No machine. You'll not get rid of me that easily." Goliath said. He grabs the front of the robot and brings him down. Brooklyn grabbed Elizabeth and pulled her out of the way as Goliath and the Leader hit the head. The leader stood up and popped out one of the lasers. Goliath grabbed the laser and destroyed it. The leader goes to punch Goliath, who dodges out of the attack. Goliath gives the Leader a few punches and the Leader grabs him and throws him over his shoulder. Goliath whips his tail around and knocks the robot to the ground. Goliath gets knocked to the ground.
"Surround him now." Elizabeth ordered the Trio. The Trio quickly surround him and Elizabeth got in front of him aiming her gun at him. The Robot looked at all of them as they surround him.
"Give it up Dumpsterface." Brooklyn said, his eyes glowing white. They slowly approach him. The leader backs up to the edge and looks down and see the Steel clan destroyed.
"Giving up?" Elizabeth said, cocking her gun as the Leader turned and looked at her. The leader seemed to realize he was outnumbered. The Leader blasts off and flies off into the night. Goliath gets fustrated until they heard a helicopter and saw a police helicopter flying towards them.
"We must go, quickly." Goliath said. Brooklyn quickly picks up Elizabeth and they took off into the night before the Helicopter spotted them. They flew towards the clocktower. The sun was starting to set. Elizabeth stood with Brooklyn, talking about doing a movie the next day as Elisa came up.
"I got school tomorrow. Pick me up at Elisa's." Elizabeth said.
"I will." Brooklyn said.
"The public's been reassured that the Gargoyles were robots. Who created them is still under investigation." Elisa said as Elizabeth came up to her as Elisa talked to Goliath.
"Xanatos tried to force us to reveal our new home. We defeated him and if we did it once, we can do it again." Goliath said.
"And we will together." Elizabeth said. Goliath smiled as they were all frozen to stone.
"Need a ride to school?" Elisa asked as they head to leave the building.
"Of course. I'll buy breakfast." Elizabeth said. The girl go to leave.
AN: That was a fun chapter to write. Till next time.
