It was snowing hard. Elizabeth had a heater she had on here and there. She came out from behind her blanket in a hoodie, pants, and boots. Goliath stood on one of the top of one of the walkways.
"Ready?" Brooklyn said as she pulled on her jacket.
"Ready." Elizabeth said. The four start going up the steps.
"Going to the movies, Hudson. Want to come along?" Broadway said.
"Thank you, lads and lass, but no. Why go out in the snow to see something that will be on cable soon enough. Besides, someone has to stay here and guard our home." Hudson said.
"Hudson. We live above a police station! What could happen?" Elizabeth asked.
"You know the old saying. A gargoyle can no more stop protecting the castle." Hudson started as he picked up the remote to change the channel. The Trio and Elizabeth look up at the ceiling.
"Than breathing the air." The four said. Hudson glares at the four. Elizabeth gives him a smile. The four started walking up the stiars.
"Yeah, yeah. We know." Brooklyn said.
"Heard that one before." Lexington said. They head to the door and open it. Elizabeth put her hat on. "We don't even live in a castle anymore." Elisa came walking in towards the tv.
"Bye Elisa!" Elizabeth called waving at her friend.
"Bye Elisa!" Lexington called.
"Bye Elisa!" Brooklyn called as they stepped out into the snow.
"Do we have time to eat before the show?" Broadway asked.
"Brr. Its cold." Elizabeth said, pulling her jacket closed. Brooklyn chuckled as he scooped her up and she wrapped her arms around his neck. "How are you guys surviving this cold?" Brooklyn takes off with the other three behind them.
"The cold doesn't bother us." Brooklyn said, holding her close. She burried her face in his neck as the cold hit her face.
"We gonna stop for food?" Broadway asked as he flew next to Brooklyn.
"Yeah." Brooklyn said, earning a nod from Elizabeth.
"We'll take the food with us into the movie theater. Its to cold to eat outside." Elizabeth said. The trio nodded in agreement. They decided to go to their favorite Chinease restraunt and Elizabeth got their food. Elizabeth came out carrying two bags. Broadway reached for it. "Oh no. I'll carry them. You'll eat them all before we get to the movie theater." Elizabeth clutched the food close to her.
"She's right. We want to eat some of the food as well." Lexington said. Broadway groaned but nodded. Elizabeth climbed onto Brookyn's back. The Trio climbed the wall till they reached the roof. Elizabeth got off so Brooklyn could pick her up and they flew towards the movie theater.
"Mm. The food smells so good." Brooklyn said, inhaling the scent of the food as they flew.
"I can smell it over here." Broadway said as he flew behind them. They land on the roof and go through where they usually enter and got in through one of the loose tiles in the celining into the movie. They sat on the balcony area where no one was allowed. They sat together and Elizabeth handed out the food. The Gargoyles and her started eating as Bambi started playing.
"This movie is getting old." Elizabeth said.
"Thought you liked Disney." Brooklyn said.
"I do, but seeing this movie over and over is getting old." Elizabeth said as she finished the food. Elizabeth quickly went to toss their garbage without being discovered and came back. She sat next to Brooklyn, who wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close.
"Next time. I'll let you choose the movie and you and I will go alone." Brooklyn whispered in her ear, earning a smile from Elizabeth as she laid her head on Brooklyn's shoulder as they watched the movie. An explosion came and shook the building. Elizabeth sat up and her and Brooklyn look around.
"Boy, that surround sound sure is great." Broadway said. Elizabeth stood up and listened.
"I don't remember any explosions in Bambi." Lexington said. Another explosion shakes the building and the Trio share looks.
"Its coming from outside. Something is going on. Let's go." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn grabs her and they jump back through the loose tile in the cealing.
"You got your gun?" Brooklyn asked as they head to get out as Elizabeth put her hat and gloves on. She patted the gun on her hip.
"Always." Elizabeth said with a smile. They jump on the roof and look out to the streets. Goliath was fighting something. Brooklyn picked her up and they quickly flew to the ground as Goliath was taken to the ground. They land on a car. Elizabeth pulls out a gun. She gasped as what looked like a robot Gargoyle pick up Goliath.
"Now you will pay for destroying me and our clan." The gargoyle spoke.
"Destroying clan? What?" Elizabeth said as she knelt on the car as Lexington broke a hubcap off and Brooklyn grabs it. He throws it and it hits the gargoyle. It turns and looks at them.
"Put him down ugly! And I mean now." Broadway shouted. Lexington his another tire and Brooklyn catches it. He tosses it and the Gargoyle moves out of the way. Goliath kicks the Gargoyle, who lets him go and Goliath joined the four.
"Goliath. What is that thing?" Elizabeth asked as she stood with Brooklyn. Goliath looked at the four.
"It is one of us or used to be." Goliath said. The Gargoyles recovers and looks at them.
"More traitors! And a human! You will all pay!" The Gargoyle said. Brooklyn grabbed Elizabeth's hand and they jumped to the ground as Goliath started approaching the Gargoyle. Brooklyn kept Elizabeth behind him so he could protect her.
"Why are you attacking us?" Goliath demanded as they approached him slowly.
"You betrayed the clan. Destroyed it." The Gargoyle said.
"No." Elizabeth said.
"We were all betrayed." Goliath said.
To true." Demona's voice came and Elizabeth looked up with the rest of the clan. Demona came flying down with the Red leader and a Steal clan. They land on a roof.
"Demona." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn growled. He still hadn't forgiven her for what she did to Goliath.
"You told him these lies! I lived for my clan!" Goliath shouted.
"And they died for you! Smashed to dust by the humans you trusted. We have our own clans now, Goliath. You have yours and I have mine." Demona said. Elizabeth ran forward before Brooklyn could stop her.
"You have no clan. You don't know the meaning of the word." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles smiled at her.
"How would you know, human?" Demona said.
"Because they are my family unlike the brother that turned on me. So I am part of their clan." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyle looked at her.
"Destroy them, Coldstone." Demona said. Brooklyn pulled her to him.
"Stay by me." Brooklyn said. The red leader put a hand on Demona.
"Let's not be hasty. I want them alive and don't hurt my sister." Xanatos' voice came from the Red Leader.
"I can take care of myself." Elizabeth growled. Demona brushes the Red Gargoyles hand away.
"Destroy them and we will survive!" Demona said. Elizabeth watched Coldstone.
"Survive like this?" Coldstone said, holding his hands up. So he was a former clan member of Goliath's. It was impossible unless it was done by magic and parts of Gargoyles that were destroyed.
"Appearances mean nothing. We are the true Gargoyles. They have been corrupted by the humans and they let one live among them." Demona said.
"Well she doens't know about us yet." Elizabeth whispered to Brooklyn, who nodded in agreement. Goliath turns to his brother, who looks at Goliath. It looked like he was fighting this.
"There has been enough death. There are so few of us left, my brother. Coldstone lifted his head up at the word brother. A vechicle shows up and Elizabeth sees its a news van.
"We need to get out of here." Elizabeth said. Elisa was speaking in Goliath's ear. Liz could hear the mumbling as she stood next to Goliath. Goliath turned towards Demona and the Steal clan.
"Xanatos. I'm sure you can communicate via your robots and I doubt you wnat to see any more destruction done to your city. Perhaps we should move to someplace less... Fragile." Goliath said.
"No! We finish this now!" Demona shouted, clenching her fists. The Red Leader stops Demona as he looks down at the Gargoyles and Elizabeth. Elizabeth put her gun away. Elizabeth ignored what the Gargoyle said as she turned to Brooklyn.
"I'm coming with." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded in agreement. The Steal Clan and Demona take off as Brooklyn picked up Elizabeth as she wrapped her arms around his neck as Coldstone took off. The clan jumps on a building and starts to climb. Elizabeth held on tight to Brooklyn as he climbed the wall. The Gargoyles took off flying.
They arrived at the Brooklyn bridge. They land on top of it. Elizabeth pulled out her gun as they stood, looking around. They were the first ones there.
"Hey, looks like we beat 'em here." Lexington said.
"I doubt it." Elizabeth said, hearing flying machine. A laser comes and hits where they are standing. Elizabeth screams as she hits the ground. She groans and rolls over seeing Brooklyn near her as he sits up.
"Remind me to be fashionably late next time." Brooklyn said, groaning.
"Here they come." Elizabeth said, seeing Demona leading the charge as they flew towards the Gargoyles. Demona fired at the two and Elizabeth and Brooklyn split to dive out of the blast. Brooklyn held onto the side as he waited. Elizabeth took shots at Demona distracting her as she flew towards Elizabeth. Brooklyn jumps down and knocks Demona out of mid air.
"Got any spells to save you now?" Brooklyn asked. Demona grabbed his head and they collide with the rope connecting to the bridge. They hit the road below. Elizabeth ran and jumped. She landed on the Steal clan robot as Broadway was chased by the Red Leader. She reaches for the panel to the electric and electric flows through her. Elizabeth screams as the steal clan throws her off and she falls, hitting the ground.
Elizabeth groaned. She was gonna be bruised after this fight as she saw Coldstone and Goliath fighting. Lexington was being attacked by the Steal clan. He dived towards one of the Bridge towers and pulls up. The robot collides and was destroyed. Lexington was able to knock the red leader out of the sky before he came in for the kill with Broadway. Elizabeth looked and saw Brooklyn still knocked out and she quickly ran to him and knelt at his side.
"Brooklyn." Elizabeth said. Brooklyln's eyes open as Lexington joined her. She heard movement and looked to see the Red Gargoyle stand up, smoking. He reached for his head and Elizabeth's eyes widen as her and Lexington helped Brooklyn up, as Xanatos removed his head. "David!"
"Xanatos." Lexington said. They heard a yell and look up to see Coldstone and Goliath falling. They ran to the side in time to see Coldstone and Goliath hit the water.
"No!" Elizabeth yelled. Brooklyn had to grab her from jumping in after them.
"No. He will be fine. I don't want to loose you." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth nodded.
"Go Free Broadway." Elizabeth ordered the two seeing Broadway caught in ropes. Brooklyn and Lexington jumped up to free Broadway. They were getting the ropes undone. Broadway sees something and points.
"Look." Broadway shouts. Elizabeth turns in time to see Coldstone burst from the water with Goliath. They land in front of Elizabeth. The Trio land next to Elizabeth as Coldstone carries Goliath towards them.
"Is he?" Broadway asked.
"He lives." Coldstone said. Elizabeth saw her brother watching Coldstone with a frown, not happy. Coldstone set Goliath down and Elizabeth ran up to Goliath with the Trio as he coughed.
"He's ok." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth stood and turned to Coldstone.
"Thank you." Elizabeth said. Coldstone studied her, but nodded as the Trio helped Goliath up.
"Your not ok." Demona's voice came. They turned to see Demona standing on the bridge, holding her gun, looking at them. "Thank you so much for saving Goliath for me." Elizabeth held her gun close.
"Wait! You said destroying my brother is the only way to survive." Coldstone said, stepping foward. "Is that all there is for us? Mere survival."
"Isn't that enough?" Demona asked.
"No." Elizabeth turned as Goliath stood up. Elizabeth and Brooklyn shared looks. "Gargoyles protect. It is our nature, our purpose. To lose that is to be corrupt, empty... Lifeless."
"And what do you proctect?" Coldstone asked.
"Enough of this!" Demona said, firing at Goliath. Coldstone jumped in front of Goliath and took the blast. He falls off the bridge.
"NO!" Goliath shouted as Coldstone fell towards the river. Elizabeth spun on Demona.
"Demona. You have gone to far this time." Elizabeth said as Goliath ran and jumped into the water. The Trio ran and watched. Demona smirked at her as she jumped down and pointed a gun at the four. The Trio turned. Elizabeth stood in a fighting stance as the Gargoyles got ready.
"At least I can finish you four." Demona said. She screamed as a laser beam knocks the gun out of her hands.
"I told you before. I want them alive and Elizabeth not harmed. She's my fight." David said.
"You never won a fight against me, David. What makes you think this time is different." Elizabeth said.
"I'll take.." A growling stops Xanatos and Elizabeth smirks as Bronx tackles Xanatos to the ground. David kicks Bronx off. Bronx jumps back on him and pins him down.
"Don't move." Elisa shouts. Elisa stood, pointing a gun at Xanatos as Hudson lands behind her. Elizabeth turns to her brother.
"It's over David!" Elizabeth called.
"I don't think so." Xanatos said, using his rocket to blast off and knock Bronx off him. He flies at Demona and grabs her as he takes off. Elizabeth ran to Brooklyn and hugged him. He wrapped his wings around her and hugs her back. Elisa put her gun away.
"It took me awhile to lose Matt and get Hudson. Is everyone ok?" Elisa asked.
"We're fine Elisa. Thank you for coming." Elizabeth said as Brooklyn held her to him.
"What happened to the monster?" Elisa asked, looking around.
"He was not a monster." Everyone turned and Goliath came onto the bridge. Elizabeth smiled. "He was family adn now he's gone." Goliath walks up towards them.
"I'm sorry." Elisa said. Goliath stopped and looked at all of them. Brooklyn unwrapped his wings from around Elizabeth. Goliath sighed.
"Let's go home." Goliath said. The Gargoyles and the girls smile at Goliath. Elizabeth climbed onto Brooklyn's back and Elisa climbed on Goliath's and the Gargoyles climb to the top of the bridge. They stood on top, overlooking the city. Brooklyn had a hand on Elizabeth's shoulder as she stood with her hands in her pockets.
"Goliath? When you told Coldstone that Gargoyles protect.." Lexington said, looking at Goliath.
"Like we breathe, boy. You know that." Hudson said.
"But what do we protect?" Brooklyn asked.
"The clock tower." Hudson said. Goliath shook his head.
"No. That is merely where we sleep. This island, Manhattan. This is our castle." Goliath said. The Gargoyles look out at the city. Elizabeth and Elisa smile at each other."From this day forward, we protect all who live here. Human and Gargoyle alike."
"Are you alright? Is there anything you need?" Elisa asked.
"Yes. I need a detective." Goliath said. Elisa smiled. Goliath looks at Elizabeth. "And a good friend." Elizabeth smiled as she nodded. Goliath picked up Elisa and Brooklyn picked up Elizabeth as Hudson grabbed Bronx. The Gargoyles took off in the air.
The next morning. A burglar runs into the grocery store. He looks out the door, like something scared him. The owner looked up and sighed, as he put up his hands..
"Not again! Can't you rob somebody else this time?" The owner asked.
"I'm not robbing you, man." The Robber said. He put the gun down on the counter and pulled out a parcel and dumped the money on the counter. "Do me a favor. Call the cops so I can turn myself in."
"What? Why?" The owner asked.
"Cause six monsters and a girl that packs a nasty punch just told me to." The Robber said, removing his glasses to show a nasty black and blue eye forming from where Elizabeth punched him.
Outside. Elizabeth and Elisa stood on the roof, facing the shop with six statues of the Gargoyles. Elizabeth had her hand on Brooklyn's shoulder as Elisa stood between Goliath and Broadway.
"You know what guys. The city feels safer already." Elisa said. Elizabeth smiled.
"It sure does." Elizabeth said. Elizabeth and Elisa stood watching as the sun rose in the horizon.
