Chapter Five: A Building Connection
Caroline wondered if it was physically possible to roll her eyes one more time, she must have rolled them a good hundred times since sitting down, surely one more was impossible to do, even for her. She hasn't rolled her eyes this many times in a row since being a part of the Mystic Falls gang, back when Damon would say the stupidest things that had Elena agreeing without thought or sense thus ensuring a well-deserved eye roll to them both. She used to roll her eyes so many times that her mother often told her she was lucky her eyes didn't get stuck in the back of her head.
It still hurt to think of her mother and old friends, even after so many years, but Caroline was finding that it was a lot easier now then it was then to let memories come through. She didn't like actively thinking of them, but she didn't try to repress natural occurrences of their memory either, instead she let them come through and allowed herself to remember those times between them before she moved on or rather before they decided she wasn't good enough for them anymore.
This was one of those times. She was rolling her eyes so much that she involuntarily thought of the last time she had rolled them this many times, and of course it was when she used to surround herself with idiot plans and halfcocked ideas courtesy of Damon and his inflated ego.
Costa Rica was gorgeous; it was the current place Caroline was exploring per Kol's suggestion. The atmosphere reminded Caroline of other places she's visited that have the same Tropical Beach theme to them but somehow it was different to, more serene and genuine then those other places. She had been there a week already and so far, has enjoyed her time, that is until she had the brilliant thought of hanging around the outside bar located by the beach that the resort she was staying at offered to the guests.
It was a small privately owned resort that aimed at a more personal and less touristy welcome to the country, something Caroline thought was perfect for her. The whole resort was run by an elderly woman with her daughter and granddaughter from what Caroline was able to gather, the little bar she decided to visit was mainly maintained by the granddaughter. She had thought coming to try a few drinks and menu items that were apparently family recipes during the day would help her avoid any unwanted attention from other tourists that were also staying at the resort.
Caroline had thought wrong.
Almost as soon as she sat down, she was surrounded by a group of three guys in their college years clearly there to have some sort of summer break get away. They were the typical college frat boys who Caroline used to fancy back when she was fifteen/sixteen years old and into "older guys". Her definition of an older man had changed significantly since then, since becoming a vampire and meeting Klaus.
Now the thought of finding them attractive was repulsive, they didn't seem to have a single brain cell shared between them, to top it off their way of enticing her to spend the rest of the day and night with them was to insist upon using dated pick-up lines she remembers in popular teen movies when she was still a teenager, ones that she hadn't even found attractive back then let alone now.
"Tell us beautiful, are you from Tennessee?" One of the frat boys asked her, the short one with too much gel in his hair and a gap between his two front teeth, he was the one closest to her, sitting on the bar stool just to her right, the only one available since she took a seat on an end bar stool, trying to communicate her want to be left alone, it clearly hadn't given these guys the hint as she had anticipated. The other two looked like brothers, they were taller than the one next to her, both blonde, both brown eyed, and both had a mole just above their lip to the left.
"Because you're the only 10 we see!" The brothers piped in from their places next to their friend, all three of them laughed obnoxiously, hitting each other with firm slaps on the back, as if to congratulate their success for executing a terrible pick-up line together. Caroline's eyes once again found themselves rolling, she wasn't against compelling these idiots away from her, but she couldn't do it with the young girl behind the bar constantly throwing her pitying looks that Caroline had no use for, what she needed was for the girl to turn her attention away for a few minutes, because the last thing she wanted to do was walk away with all three of these guys in order to compel them away from her and be the gossip of the resort for the rest of her stay.
She was more lenient about compelling now then what she was in the past, but she still didn't like doing it unless she had to. She remembers all too well the lack of control and the abundance of helplessness the victim of the compelling feels inside, she doesn't like the thought of doing that to someone, so she avoids it as much as she can. Caroline has also learned how to be more lenient about her eating habits, she no longer fully depends on blood bags like she used to, that was nearly impossible to do with traveling as much as she did, but she also still didn't like killing people, there was no need to kill when you could just feed.
"Honey you must be an artist, because you're drawing me in!" One of the brothers got up from his seat to push aside his short friend in order to lean into her personal space, something these frat guys had avoided doing since starting with their horrendous attempt at getting her to pay attention to them.
"And you must be an idiot, all three of you, if you think you have any chance of getting any girl with the amount of charm you so clearly lack." Caroline scoffed at them, she had hoped by ignoring them that they would take the heavy hint and leave her alone but seeing as that wasn't apparently something they were capable of doing, she was better off leaving, grabbing her drink from the counter in front of her, she stood up from her seat, she nodded to the girl behind the bar before walking off.
Other world Caroline probably had a charming Klaus sprouting sweet poetry into her ear at every chance he got, she probably blushed and smiled at Klaus well he grinned back at her full well knowing that she might have acted like she hated the sweetness of it all but secretly she loved his random acts of romancing her. Reality Caroline could only fantasize about the other world and the nice poetry though, because in reality she didn't have that, she had drunk college guys trying to pick her up with some of the worst lines known to history.
"Beautiful! Don't go! We were just starting to have some fun!" The short one yelled at her retreating back, feeling slightly childish she turned back to them well continuing to walk backwards, throwing up both her arms she flipped them off with both hands before she turned back around to walk back to her room. She giggled as she walked away, she could hear them telling each other that she wasn't worth anything anyways, being the stuck-up bitch that she was, insecure little boys, they never failed to be amusing.
It was later that night in her room organizing her belonging in the borrowed draws and closet of the resort for what seemed like the tenth time since she arrived that Caroline's nose was hit with the strong sweet odor of blood. Her throat tightened in response to the smell, she didn't have any blood bags with her, and it wasn't yet late enough for her to go touring the resort for a snack, so to say the least she was hungry but holding off the urge to feed. Whoever was bleeding wasn't bleeding lightly though, the smell wouldn't have come off as strong if it was a minor accident they experienced.
Getting curious as to what happened Caroline peeked her head out of her room door to see if she could sense anything amiss. The smell was circling the air just outside of her room, it was thickly permitting it, nearly making it impossible for Caroline to focus, she had to actively hold back her vampire face from coming out. Holding her breath, she stepped out of her room, following the direction where the smell grew stronger, Caroline paused at the end of a walkway that led to the outside of the lobby area of the resort.
Right in front of the double doors, trying to hurry along as to not cause any panic to surge was the Costa Rican Police, the owner, her daughter, her granddaughter, and three body bags. The smell of blood was coming from all three of the bags, Caroline wondered how she missed people dying around her, it seemed like something she should have known was happening as it happened, though she was distracted the whole day with reorganizing her belongings after she had gotten back from the bar with the three frat boys.
Seeing Caroline standing no doubt wide eyed at the scene in front of her the granddaughter came jogging over to her.
"We're so sorry miss but an unfortunate incident has taken place and the police are asking that all guests stay in their rooms well an investigation is done to figure out what happened." It sounded rehearsed to Caroline; the girl must have repeated this several times before now to scared panicked tourists wanting to know every detail.
"Tell me what happened." Caroline felt her pupils dilate, compelling the girl in front of her to tell her what she wanted to know, she hated that she had to do this but if she needed to leave this beautiful country because of unexplained deaths then she wanted to know now. The death of whoever they were didn't bother her, Caroline's been around too much death in her life for her to be affected in any way from these random people dying, but the fact that she was oblivious to it did bother her.
"We aren't sure, the three men that were bothering you earlier were found near the beach with their organs torn out, they're going to be taken to get autopsies done but in the meantime the police want all the guests calm well they start their investigation." The girl spoke on autopilot, blank with no emotion to Caroline, stating facts that was asked of her, she looked straight ahead, staring just past Caroline's head to something unknown as she waited for her to say something more to her.
"You'll forget this conversation; you only remember telling me to go back to my room." Caroline told the girl, not waiting for a reply she turned back the way she came from and started the walk back to her room.
The frat boys were killed, their organs were torn out, unusual deaths that said to Caroline she wasn't the only vampire around. She hadn't had many encounters with vampires since associating herself with the Mystic Falls gang and The Originals. The only one she ever sees or thinks about is Kol, who just recently told her he's in some remote African village looking for a powerful witch who owes him a favor, what favor he was going to call in she didn't care to ask. Other then Kol though the amount of contact she had with other vampires was scarce, she's ran into a bit of them over the years, but she always left before getting comfortable with their acquaintance.
Judging by the gruesome way in which this vampire decided to go about killing the frat guys, Caroline did not want to meet them, she needed to pack her things and compel whoever she needed to in order to be able to leave with no repercussions or suspicion of her.
Walking into her room Caroline made a beeline for the closet, she started to grab her dresses first, taking them off the hangers to fold them neatly back into her suitcase when a voice from behind her stopped her mid motion.
"Running away again Darling?" Caroline turned around so fast that she was surprised she didn't give herself whiplash, sitting so calmly without a care in the world in one of the hanging hammock chairs that the room offered was Kol, he sat cross legged in the chair, swinging it slightly back and forth in an eerily childish way. His clothing was covered in blood, messy and still wet, his mouth and neck were for the most part clean, though there were sprinkles of blood here and there that he hadn't gotten when he washed up without bothering to change.
It seemed irrational to be the first thing she would be thinking about but one of Caroline's first thoughts was that he lied to her about looking for a witch for a favor, he clearly wasn't in some remote village, toughing the terrain to find himself what he needed, he was here, in the same country as her, apparently killing people with no regard.
This was the first time she was seeing Kol in person in a good year, a measly year that was so insignificant compared to all that she's lived, compared to all that Kol's lived. After Hopes funeral sixteen years ago they upgraded their contact to in person drop ins, or more accurately Kol upgraded for it was him who happened to show up randomly every couple of years in whatever country or state she was in. He stayed with her a few nights before taking off again to do god knows what, in those times between his drop ins they texted, they talked on the phone, they sent pictures, and they facetimed. Caroline thought it was safe to say that Kol had weaseled his way into being her best friend, sometimes she thought he was more than a best friend but anytime they progressed into territory to similar to what they shared with Davina and Klaus they pulled away from each other.
Caroline wasn't sure yet if she wanted to stop that game of tug of war. Sometimes she looked at Kol and she couldn't think of anything else other than him, his laugh, his corny jokes, his horrible yet amusing threats to humans that annoyed him, and most importantly his overwhelming presence that filled Caroline with a sense of home that she can admit she hasn't felt since her twins were just little girls and before that since she cut off contact with Klaus after their coupling in the forest. Other times she looked at Kol and that feeling of home, that feeling of belonging and of everything being right felt so much like what she was scared to admit she felt with Klaus back then that all she could think of was Klaus, those were the times she pulled away.
"I thought you were looking for a witch?" She questioned him in a snappy tone he found amusing, his laugh rang through the otherwise quiet room.
"I was." He answered back, imitating her snappy tone with amusement.
"And?" She asked, she started to hang the dresses she took off the rack back on it, knowing now she didn't need to hurry to pack anything.
"I found her, I talked to her, I got what I wanted, and now I'm here." He replied, he bounced out of the hanging chair to come stand behind her, to occupy her mind and her hands she started to reorganize the closet yet again.
"Are you not happy to see me Darling?" He teased, leaning into her back he pressed himself to her to talk into her ear, his breath tickled her earlobe. This closeness was not always something experienced between them, often it felt to intimate too fast for either one or both of them, so it was an unsaid rule between them to try and limit proximity to each other when together, Kol seemed to be full on ignoring that unsaid rule.
"Of course, I'm happy to see you Kol," she said back with an eyeroll, she hoped she wouldn't start back up with this habit of eye rolling again but Caroline felt it was too late for that, as evident by the amount of times she's already rolled her eyes in one day, "I'm not happy about you killing those guys though, was that necessary? You left a big mess behind according to one of the owners here." Caroline scolded.
"They deserved it," he shrugged, "I've been here since earlier, I watched them as they used those incredibly dreadful pick-up lines on you, I watched as they blatantly ignored the hint to leave you alone, I couldn't not punish them." Kol explained to her with another shrug, his reasoning sounded ridiculous, but Caroline wouldn't pretend to not know that Kol had a bit of a jealousy issue, more times than not he took it upon himself to "punish" people when he was with her for doing some wrongdoing to her. It was just purely coincidence according to him that it was always just men getting punished, men that looked at her, hit on her, slipped her their number, or tried to ask her on a date, he didn't always resort to killing them like he apparently did with the frat boys, but Kol did find amusement in making them little puppets for him to play with as he dealt out their "punishment".
"You tore out their organs!" Caroline exclaimed, she didn't know what to think of Kol's jealousy, she didn't feed into it, but she also didn't stop him from doing things that crossed the line from best friend territory to spouse territory either. She wasn't upset about him killing those guys, but it was one in many instances where Kol took on a role that was not his to take. He bordered that role more than Caroline wants to admit to herself, but it was still no excuse to go around killing in her name.
"Yes, I took a page from Nik's book and started with their liver." Kol cackled in reply, he backed away from her to throw himself on the bed, stretching out his arms and legs, getting comfortably situated on the bed to watch her tear her closet apart.
Caroline blinked at him, she hated when he mentioned Klaus, he seemed to be doing it more and more lately, like he's trying to get a rise out of her, what rise she doesn't know but him mentioning Klaus so casually at almost every interaction came with hidden motives, she feels it.
She had appreciated his casual mentions of his brother at one point, she admired the way he was able to talk about him without getting shut down at every turn. Now though it felt like it came with something he wasn't saying. Kol talking about his brother in any form just annoyed her, made her feel like she was missing part of the conversation, especially when he looked at her like he was expecting her to say something of importance back to him, like he was doing now, Caroline shifted uncomfortably from his stare on her, she held his eyes for a second before turning away.
"Have you been to the waterfall I told you about?" He abruptly changed the subject.
"Not yet." Kol had texted her the first night she stayed here to go looking for this hidden waterfall he loved to go to anytime he visited here, it wasn't a known tourist attraction because it was deep in the forest, locals knew about it of course but tended to avoid it in favor of easier accessed waterfalls. Caroline had made plans to try looking for it with Kol's round about directions within the next couple of days.
Jumping from the bed Kol started going through her draws, throwing aside articles of clothing that apparently weren't what he was looking for, before going to a different dresser, the top drawer held her swimwear which he pulled out, surprisingly skipping over the more skimpy ones that she had he settled on a two-piece high waisted maroon bikini that had a matching cover to go over it, it was one of her favorites, a little on the vintage side it made Caroline feel timeless and classic when she wore it.
"Put that on." He threw the bikini towards her face, she barely had time to reach up and catch the bikini before it hit her face on.
"Rude." She muttered to herself, she thought about arguing with him, but he had good taste in swimwear, she would have chosen this one anyways without his help, plus she knew Kol was excited to be showing her one of the hidden gems of the country, it wasn't often he got to show them himself to her so he did take full advantage when he could, she couldn't find it in herself to deny him.
Leaving the bathroom to her room with the bikini and cover up on her body, Caroline paused outside her bathroom door, Kol had produced a suitcase filled with his clothing from nowhere and had changed into swimming trucks well she was in the bathroom. She came out as he was putting on a shirt, the room felt suddenly hotter than before, she couldn't stop herself from looking at his chest and his well-defined abs.
Kol was gorgeous.
"Staring isn't polite Darling." He finished putting his shirt on, seeming to take longer than necessary after catching her staring at him, Caroline didn't answer him back, she was just caught ogling him, that was embarrassing, it wasn't the first time either that she's been caught admiring him which made it that much more mortifying.
"Yeah, neither is dropping in on someone unexpectedly yet here you are." She said back with a huff, it was just something to say back to him, she loved his random visits more then she should. There never seemed to be a clear answer if whether the line they tip toed on was appropriate, Caroline hated that there wasn't a neon answer if the tension between them was okay to feel, they were both single, so it wasn't as if they were with anyone else, but this tension has been there for years, dating all the way back to the day Klaus died, when Davina was still alive, and Caroline was starting her mourning for Klaus.
"Here I am," Kol mumbled back, making sure he caught her eyes he said, "And just so you know Darling, there is nowhere else in the world I would rather be." He winked at her, it was said with equal amounts of seriousness and playfulness, Caroline scoffed back but couldn't help the smile she aimed to the floor.
The sound of rushing water overfilled Caroline's ears as she stood watching the waterfall Kol wanted her to see so badly, she stood off to the side of the waterfall, on some sturdy rocks with green moss on the sides of them that formed mini mountains overlooking the lake that the waterfall poured into. Caroline had seen many waterfalls in her travels, ones that were just as beautiful as the one before her, and yet looking over at Kol who stood off to the side next to her setting out a couple of beach blankets for them to sit on, she thought to herself that this waterfall had to be the most perfect one she's visited yet. The water was vividly blue and the view from the rocks was something straight out of a painting, it was calming too, something Caroline hadn't experienced with other waterfalls. If nothing else, it was definitely leagues ahead of the waterfall in Mystic Falls she used to party at with classmates when she was a teenager.
"Do you like it?" Kol asked her, he took a seat at the edge of the rocks, letting his feet dangle below him, he gestured for her to sit next to him. Taking a seat close to Kol, Caroline was only a little startled when he grabbed her hand, holding it gently within his own like she was fragile.
"It's beautiful." She said back to him, her eyes weren't watching the waterfall though, they were watching the way Kol would tighten his fingers around hers every few seconds, they were watching the way Kol's thumb occasionally stroked the bracelet she so faithfully wore. Kol's hands were possibly one of Caroline's favorite things in the world, they were soft and warm, and anytime he touched her with one of his hands, it felt like he was putting his all into that touch.
"You know when Nik asked me to give this bracelet back to you," Kol turned to face her, pulling up one of his legs to tuck underneath him, he let out a breath that was almost too shaky to fit into the atmosphere around them, he had stopped holding her hand with his, instead choosing to hold her wrist up to her so she could be in direct sight of her bracelet, "I didn't think I would see you still wearing it after all these years."
To her ears Kol didn't sound sarcastic or even angry, but he did sound jealous, maybe even a little envious. Caroline wasn't surprised by this, she often caught Kol looking at her bracelet with a variety of expressions, he sometimes touched her bracelet like he did a moment ago when he stroked it, but most times he just looked at it as if it was torturing him. He never said anything to her, but Caroline figured one day he would open up about what was on his mind, she guessed today was that day.
"I didn't think I would still be wearing it after all these years." She admitted, it was never Caroline's intention to hold on so tight to the bracelet Klaus gave her, but she found every time she tried to take it off that she couldn't do it. She felt like she was saying a final goodbye to Klaus every time she's tried to take it off for more then just a fix or a cleaning. She felt like taking off her bracelet was signaling her story was over with Klaus, she felt like that was putting an end to what they shared, and for some explainable reason she wasn't ready to do that, she wasn't ready to let Klaus go completely just yet. She knew it was irrational to connect the bracelet to her connection with Klaus but that didn't stop her from doing just that.
Some part of her acknowledged that she couldn't move forward to explore the connection she and Kol clearly had with each other without first letting go of the past, but still, she couldn't bring herself to close the door with Klaus in order to open a new one with Kol, at least not yet.
Maybe she's been the reason her and Kol couldn't move forward into new territory with each other, maybe she's the reason why it felt weird even though they were free to do what they wanted with each other.
"Do you still love him?" Kol looked away from her but kept hold of her wrist, Caroline hated not seeing his normal smirk on his face, Kol always looked happy or at the very least mischievous, it was rare when he looked uncertain.
Caroline's comfortably admitted to herself that she loved Klaus, she's been able to admit that to herself for a while now, but she's never been comfortable enough to admit it to other people, not that she's been given an opportunity to in the past. She thinks everyone knew how she felt, it wasn't like she was that good of an actress but there was never a moment where she said to anyone that she loved Klaus. Even in this moment Kol is asking her if she STILL loved his brother, not IF she loved his brother, despite her never telling him she loved Klaus to begin with.
"I think I'll always love him." Caroline expressed, Klaus was an intricate part of her, take him away and there would be some parts of Caroline missing. She couldn't lie about what she felt for Klaus, she's spent the past seventy-eight years traveling because of him, she's spent that time reconnecting with him by doing things she felt he wanted her to do in life, and she's spent that time mourning him. She couldn't lie about what she felt for Kol though either, in those same years she's built a connection with Kol, she's had tension that brings butterflies to her stomach with Kol, and she's been both hesitant and curious to explore what more lied between herself and Kol.
Kol nodded to her, not at all shocked to her answer, Caroline felt it was only fair to ask him the same question, "Do you still love her?"
"I think I'll always love her." He repeated her words, Caroline also knew his answer before he gave it. You don't share something epic with people like Klaus and Davina without having them dig into your soul, forever engraving themselves into you. She wasn't upset or hurt over his answer, just as she knew he wasn't over her answer.
"Just so there's no confusion though Darling, I do want you to know that I have enough room in my heart to love you," Kol lightly grasped her cheeks between his palms, staring straight into her eyes, making a moment that felt okay more intimate then Caroline felt she could handle, "Me saying I'll always love her doesn't mean that I can't love you, just like you saying you'll always love Nik doesn't mean you can't love me."
"I'm ready to love you, I'm ready to give us a chance." Kol carefully continued, effectively stunning Caroline to her core, she wasn't expecting to have this conversation with him today, she wasn't expecting him to lay out what's been unspoken between them so plainly and suddenly.
"Why are you telling me this now? What's changed?" She asked, everything seemed to be happening to rabidly, one second Kol was in a whole other part of the world, the next second he was killing frat guys as a gruesome way to show he cared about her, and the second he's confessing feelings that laid unspoken between them as if this was the next logical step to take. It didn't make any sense, there was nothing different about this visit compared to other visits with him.
He paused for a second to take a deep breath, still holding Caroline's cheeks he lightly squeezed them, making her lips pucker, to which his eyes flickered down to before looking away, "I told you I went searching for a witch who owed me a favor."
Caroline nodded back, her eyebrows bunched together, confused on what the witch had to do with anything.
"She's owed me a favor for many years now, but I've only ever thought of cashing in on it recently." She nodded again, her hands reached up to hold onto Kol's wrists, she didn't take his hands away from her face though, she simply laid her hands there giving him a show of silent support to say what he wanted.
"I asked her if she would be able to get in contact with Davina. She said yes." He said to her, Caroline's eyes bugged to twice their size. She's honestly thought about seeking out a witch to see if she could communicate with Klaus, but she's always stopped herself before she could. Some of that decision came from the unknown of whether there was anything left of Klaus to contact but mostly that decision came because Caroline didn't think she would be doing her or Klaus any favors if she did happen to get in contact with him, she felt it was better to leave things as they were instead of going to search out something that would just hurt her and Klaus in the end. She doesn't know how or where Kol gathered the courage to do that from, if that witch was able to connect him to Davina, then it must have hurt him tremendously to have had to severe that connection that could only logically last for so long.
"You saw Davina?" She questioned him.
"Yeah, I saw her," He softly replied, "I talked to her."
"What did you talk about?" Caroline moved a little closer to him, she wasn't sure what he was feeling in this moment, but she wanted to be there for him in whatever way she could.
"I asked her if it was okay to feel the way I do about you," he whispered, "I asked her if it was okay to move on, she told me what I just told you. That loving you doesn't mean I love her any less, that wanting something with you isn't forgetting her. She said she's happy we have each other and that I'm not alone."
"I told you the day of Davina's funeral that I didn't know how to say goodbye to her, and I didn't, but I've had years to figure it out," he chuckled under his breath, to which Caroline slightly cringed, that really was an insensitive thing to say to him at the time, "and when I saw her, I realized that I've said goodbye already, I realized I figured it out. I will always carry Davina in my heart, and I will always love her but I'm ready to let go of the past, I'm ready to explore a future with you."
"Kol…" Caroline's breath came out chopped, making his name sound breathier coming out then she wanted it to. He shook his head to her, still looking into her eyes, he slowly brought their foreheads together, slightly leaning into her, he closed his eyes.
"I know that you're not ready yet. I know that you still have things to work through in yourself when it comes to Nik, I know it's not easy for you to let go of him. I'm not telling you this because that's what I'm expecting right now, I'm telling you this, so you know where I stand, so you know that when you're done saying goodbye to Nik and you're ready for real happiness Darling, I'm going to be right here." Leaning away from her, un-connecting their foreheads, Kol turned his face to her cheek to press a kiss there, one that lingered on Caroline's skin, giving her chills.
A/N: In case anyone is curious, I do think in this scenario between Kol and Caroline that I've created, Kol would be the first one to be ready to move on from Davina with Caroline seeing as a lot of Caroline's inability to move on comes from not having experienced what Klaus promised her and holding onto a future for them that never came to be because he died. I also didn't get into a lot of detail about Kol talking to Davina because the deaths in these shows confuse me sometimes, so where Davina is exactly in her afterlife I have no idea, I just know that in this case Kol was able to contact her lol.
Hope you guys enjoyed, feel free to drop a review :)
***ANSWERS TO REVIEWS***
To Jennifer: That's completely understandable, when I first got into this fandom, I read purely Caroline/Klaus stories, they're my OTP lol but I eventually ventured away from this and started exploring Caroline being paired with other people and I personally have found that I enjoy stories that feature her with any of the Mikaelson brothers. I feel like she fits so well with all of them, of course my number one to ship her with is still Klaus but it's always fun to explore other pairings for her, both in my reading and writing :) I'm so happy to know that my story is one you ventured out for, and you found that you loved it, I hope this encourages you to explore other stories that have unusual pairings too. Thank you so much for this awesome review, it's much appreciated :)
To Raaliyo: I know you put this review specifically to chapter two so regarding that I am sorry you disagree and that's okay, I understand that not all of our opinions will be the same when it comes to our fandoms. I do think that in the event that everyone in Caroline's life wanted to live a human life they would have excluded her from their lives to try and achieve this "No Supernatural" life they want, regardless of if they love her or not but it's all good if you don't agree with this :) Thank you for leaving a review with your honest opinion :)
To Guest: Thank you so much for taking the time to comment :) you're not the only one anticipating where Caroline's and Kol's relationship is headed lol, I'm not sure when there will be an update for this story as I haven't touched it since my last update, but I haven't forgotten about it either, and I do hope to get to writing for it again soon :)
To Guest: Thank you so much for commenting :) I'm working on the last chapter as we speak lol, I have to unfortunately delete some things and add some other things in my editing process that I'm currently doing as I re-read my original draft and wasn't completely satisfied with it. I'm hoping to be able to post the last chapter soon :)
