It was almost time as Elizabeth cleaned the room where the Gargoyles and her stayed. She had her radio going to one of her favorite station going. She finished up as the sun went behind the horizon and she turned off the radio in time to hear the roar of the Gargoyles. She grinned as the Gargoyles came in.
"Looks like you been cleaning, lass." Hudson said. She brushed the hair out of her face. Brooklyn grinned at her.
"I have been. You guys are very messy. Took me almost half the day." Elizabeth said. Goliath smiled. "Though it has made me hungry."
"Yes food. Let's go." Broadway said. Brooklyn, Elizabeth, and Broadway go outside. Brooklyn scoops up Elizabeth and him and Broadway take off in the air and started flying.
"Lets do pizza tonight and bring enough back for the others." Elizabeth suggested as they flew.
"You were tipped good last night?" Brooklyn asked.
"I was. We were busy." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn was about to say something when he saw something moving down in an alleyway.
"Hey look." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth saw like a winged like creature running through the alley.
"What is that?" Elizabeth said.
"Demona?" Broadway asked.
"Let's check it out." Brooklyn said with a almost growl in his voice. They land in the alley and Brooklyn sets Elizabeth down. She gasps when she saw a lion like figure backing away. Weird thing was the person had wings.
"What on earth." Elizabeth said.
"That's not Demona." Broadway said.
"Stay away from me." The Lion said. It was a girls voice.
"No don't be afraid." Brooklyn said.
"We're friends. We won't hurt you." Elizabeth said. Sirens came behind and the four turn to see vechicles pull up with sirens. "Those aren't cops." Four people came out of the vechicles with guns and walked towards them. They were dressed in lab coats almost.
"She's right." Brooklyn said.
"There she is." One said.
"But she's not alone." Another said. Brooklyyn pushed Elizabeth backwards, trying to protect her.
"Tranq them all. Let the doc sort them out." The first one said.
"What about the girl that one is protecting." The woman asked. Brooklyn growled.
"Her too. She can become one of the experiments." The Leader said. Elizabeth's eyes widen. Experiment? What were they talking about. They open fire and the Gargoyles and Elizabeth ran, dodging the tranqs. Brooklyn and Elizabeth hid behind a dumster.
"Experiments? I got a feeling she isn't a lion gargoyle." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded. The girl came close and Brooklyn grabbed her arm.
"Bad Neighborhood." Brooklyn said.
"Let go of me." Lion said, pulling her hand free from Brooklyn. A bracelet fell to the ground. More shots were fired and Brooklyn and Elizabeth moved out of the way as electric ran through the dumster. "Get away from me." The people grab the girl.
"No. Don't go with them." Brooklyn said. The people dragged the Lion Gargoyle to a van and threw her in. They shot off more tranqs at the gargoyles and Elizabeth. Elizabeth took some shots at the people. Brooklyn and Broadway send a dumster rolling. The doctors dodge and the Gargoyles ran to the van. Brooklyn started scratching at the van as Elizabeth tried to open the door. A tranq hit Brooklyn and Elizabeth. Elizabeth colapsed to the ground as it knocked her out with a strong dose. Brooklyn almost falls and Broadway could only grab Brooklyn.
"Come on we're out of here." Broadway said.
"No. Can't leave Elizabeth." Brooklyn said, reaching for Elizabeth.
"I'm sorry Brook. I can only get you. They are closing in." Broadway said as he jumped on the van with Brooklyn and flew off in the distance.
"They got away." The leader said.
"Yes, but we got another test subject for the doctor." One said, looking at Elizabeth as she laid on the ground. The doctors pick her up and put her in the van with the lion. The lion was shocked to see the girl that tried to help them laying on the floor. Broadway and Brooklyn watched with worry as the vans drove away. Broadway just hoped Elizabeth would be safe until they could find her.
Back at the clocktower. They explained what happened.
"Soon as they left we caught the first updraft back here." Broadway said.
"They got Elizabeth. I hope they don't do the same to her they did to that girl. She seemed so scared." Brooklyn said, holding his head.
"Yeah of us." Broadway said.
"She needed our help." Brooklyn said. Broadway pulled the bracelet out of his pocket.
"Brooklyn pulled this off her wrist." Broadway said.
"Looks like a tracking device. Digital, long lange, and very expensive." Elisa siad. Broadway turned the bracelet to show a Gen U Tech on the bracelet.
"The sybol was also on the van." Broadway said.
"Please say we aren't going to leave Elizabeth with those monsters." Brooklyn said, looking at Goliath.
"No. We will get her back." Goliath said.
Elizabeth woke up to a massive headache in a cell.
"Ahh. I see your awake." Elizabeth turned to see a doctor with a cane, looking at her.
"Where am I?" Elizabeth said. She saw the Lion Gargoyle in the cell with her and in another cell a tiger gargoyle and a cat like Gargoyle with the tiger. "My Gosh."
"Gen U Tech with the other Mutates." THe doctor said.
"Your responsible for... these?" Elizabeth said, standing up and the floor spun and she fell.
"Easy. The tranq is still wearing off. I'm surprised. I tried to give you the same serum that I gave them, but it seems your blood is imune to the potion." The doctor said.
"What?" Elizabeth said.
"Meaning you won't turn into one of them." The doctor said.
"Sir. David Xanatos is here to see you." One of the guards said.
"So your under Xanatos's orders." Elizabeth said.
"So what if I am?" The doctor said.
"Well bring him in and you'll find out." Elizabeth said. The doctor nodded to the guard. The doctor pushed some buttons and a shield goes down to cover the test subjects. Elizabeth turned to the Lion Gargoyle. "Hi. I know we got off to the wrong start. I'm Elizabeth, but my friends call me Liz." The girl looked at Elizabeth.
"I'm Maggie. I'm from Ohio." Maggie said.
"If your from Ohio. Were you human once?" Elizabeth asked. Maggie nodded. Elizabeth swore under her breath. What was her brother doing now.
"I think it's time for an update on the project, Sevarius." Xanatos said. Elizabeth turned and saw her brother and Derek there, but they didn't see her or the others yet.
"Of course." Sevarius said. He walked over to a control panal and pressed some buttons bringing up a large screen. Footage of the gargoyles showed up on the screen for Xanatos and Derek to see. Elizabeth listened in. "You asked me to design a living creature based on the Gargoyles. I considered cloning a living specimen, but none was available. I'm assuming that has not changed."
"No it hasn't." Xanatos said. Sevarius sighed as he shook his head.
"So I turned to gene splicing to breed for desired traits. The composite genes would provide the artificial specimen with the strenth and agility of a jungle cat." Sevarius said.
"So that's what my brother is doing." Elizabeth whispered.
"He's your brother. You seem nothing alike." Maggie whispered.
"I'm adopted." Elizabeth said, not looking at Maggie as she used the glass to help herself pull up. Goliath was not going to be happy to find out the people that took her was working for Xanatos.
"Plus a bats ability to fly." Sevarius said.
"And human intelligence?" Xanatos asked.
"Yes of course. But the problem is the wing mussles. The creature would have to eat an equivalent of three cows a day to maintain its stregth.
"So how do the Gargoyles do it? I don't think there are many cows in Manhattan." Xanatos said.
"I submize they store solar energy while hybernating as stone every day. Unfortantly that process is unknown in the rest of the animal kingdom." Sevarius said. He pushed buttons and the screen disappeared. "But there is another way to meet their energy needs." He pushes more buttons. A window opened to to show eels. "Electrophorus electricus. The electric eel. They store energy in specialized organs known as electric receptors. Adapting this might solve our problem."
"Yeah well this is impressive theory but the big question is. Why did you hire mercenaries?" Derek asked. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow at that.
"Uh yes." Sevarius said. He walks away. "Well you see. It seems one of our test subjects escaped."
"Test subjects?" Xanatos asked.
"Yes don't worry. We got her back along with another one that seemed immune to the testing." Sevarius said, pushing more buttons. "Look." The screen comes up and Xanatos and Derek's eyes widen when they see the test subjects and Elizabeth standing there.
"Elizabeth." Derek said, running to the glass.
"Why do you have my sister." Xanatos said, turning on Sevarius.
"She's your sister? If I realized she was your sister, I wouldn't have tried to change into one of the mutants. She was with the Gargoyles when they tried to rescue her." Sevarius said.
"They wouldn't have left her behind." Derek said.
"No they wouldn't." Elizabeth said.
"Seems the red one was traqed and they couldn't grab her and had to leave her." Sevarius said.
"Xanatos. When they find out the one you hired kidnapped me. They will be looking for blood." Elizabeth said with anger in her voice. Xanatos had a worried look. Elizabeth had a look that he was happy there was glass seperating the two because he knew she would take him out in a heartbeat. He looked at the other specimens.
"You grew these from scratch and so fast?" Xanatos said, turning towards Sevarius.
"Well no. That would have taken too long. I used a shortcut. Human test subjects injected with a mutagenic formula. Your sister here is the only one that the formula did not seem to work on. Its like her body rejected it." Servarius said, waving at Elizabeth.
"What?" Xanatos said, going to attack Servarius, but Derek stopped him.
"This is what you been funding." Derek said, pointing at the Mutants.
"I had no idea." Xantos said.
"Oh sure. Sure. You didn't know. You were paying him to do all this, Xanatos. Just like everything else." Elizabeth said, crossing her arms. David looked away.
"No that's not true. I was fooling myself." Xanatos said, turning towards Sevarius. He started walking towards Sevarius. "I knew Sevarius had a bad reputation, but I ignored it, hoping his methods would bring me the results I desired. Derek walked to him. "But don't worry. We will find a way to reverse the Mutations." They turned to face Servarius.
"No I won't let you destroy my work." Servarius said, pulling out a gun and shooting at Xanatos.
"NO!" Elizabeth screamed.
"Look out." Derek said. He pushes Xanatos away and takes a dart to his back.
"Derek!" Elizabeth shouted. He runs at Servarius and kicks him to the ground. He takes the gun out of his hand.
"Go ahead. I like to see you try that again." Derek said. He pulls the dart out of his shoulder. "Funny. I don't feel sleepy." Elizabeth's eyes widen as Servarius starts laughing.
"You fool. Those weren't tranquilizer darts. The dart was loaded with my mutagenic formula. The same one I used on them!" Servarius said. Elizabeth slammed her fists on the glass, trying to break it.
"NO! Xanatos. You better be happy this glass seperates us cause I want your hide and if Elisa finds out she will have your head." Elizabeth said. Xanatos looked more worried then normal and the look of fright was clear on Derek's face. Derek grabs Servarius and throws him in a chair. Xanatos looks at him.
"You better have an antidote." Xanatos said.
"Oh I do." Sevarius said. He tapped his head. "Right up here. But why would I help you destroy my work?" A beeping came and Elizabeth saw a man appear on a screen.
"There's a couple of Police Dectectives here, Doc. They are investigating a kidnapping." The man said. Elisa and Matt showed up on the screen showing their badges. Derek looked fearful.
"By all means Doc. Invite them in. Let's give them the slideshow. Introduce them to the finished product and that Police Dectective is a dear friend of my sisters and I'm sure the Gargoyles already told her that Elizabeth is taken by you." Xanatos said.
"Either way. She will find out if I'm freed or not." Elizabeth said.
"You wouldn't dare. You bankrolled everything." Servarius said, earning an eyeroll from Elizabeth.
"He's right brother. You would ruin yourself. And I'll just sit back and laugh." Elizabeth said, earning a glare from her brother as he grabbed Servarius by the shirt.
"Your right. We both would go down for this. But I've been in prison before. Have you?" Xanatos said. He puts Servarius back in the chair. "The police, the press, the courts, they'll all crucify you. "And if they don't, I will."
"Get in line." Elizabeth said, seeing sweat rolling down Derek's face.
"I could begin work on the antidote now." Servarius said. Xanatos goes up to Derek.
"How you feeling?" Xanatos asked.
"Lousy." Derek said, rubbing his head.
"Just say the word and I'll have her brought in." Xanatos said, gesturing towards the screen. "Don't worry about me. This is much my fault as Servarius."
"No I can't face her now. Maybe when he's cured me." Derek said, looking away.
"Oh Derek." Elizabeth said.
"Alright get rid of them." Xanatos said, pointing at the screen. Elizabeth had a feeling she wasn't going to be freed any time soon. She looked at her watch. It was almost dawn. The Gargoyles were going to be changing to stone soon. "And get to work." Servarius went to give the word. Derek hunched over crying in pain.
"Derek!" Elizabeth called.
"Derek. What's wrong?" Xanatos said, catching him before he fell to the ground. Derek looked up at Xanatos. His eyes were changing to animal like and his teeth had fangs.
"Help me." Derek said.
"Hold on Derek." Elizabeth said.
Back at the clock tower. Brooklyn was pacing. He was worried about Elizabeth. Elisa came back and explained that she was turned away.
"I don't trust Doctor Servarius." Elisa said. She watched Brooklyn pace. She knew he was worried. "He's hiding something I know he is."
"Can't you arrest him?" Brooklyn demanded.
"There's not enough evidence. Without probable cause for a warant, my hands are tied. Brooklyn. I want to get Elizabeth back as much as you do. We will find her and the otehr girl. I promise." Elisa said as the others head to their perches. Brooklyn jumped on his.
"Well mine aren't. Hold on Elizabeth. I'm coming for you as soon as I wake up." Brooklyn said. He turned to stone.
Elizabeth laid on the floor, trying to sleep. She couldn't sleep with her mind racing. She hate to be the one to break the news to Elisa what happened to her brother. She sighe as she sat up. She stood up and looked to see Derek in a corner.
"Avalon." Elizabeth gasped. He was changing fast.
"Don't you have some junk bonds to sell." Servarius asked. Derek groaned and they looked over at him.
"The Metamorphosis is excellerating." Xanatos said.
"Perhaps it would be safer to cage him." Servarius suggested.
"He's a man, not an animal." Elizabeth said. Xanatos nodded in agreement.
"Shut up and keep working." Xanatos said. Elizabeth was pacing the cell, rubbing her head.
"Come on night. Come faster." She whispered.
Back at the clock tower. The Gargoyles burst from their stone slumber. Brooklyn ran and jumped on another perch.
"Where are you going?" Goliath asked.
"To find Elizabeth and the girl. I just hope I'm not late to find her." Brooklyn said, fearing she was turned into a Mutate as well.
"Rushing in without a plan won't help either of them." Goliath said. Brooklyn turned his back to Goliath. "And I have a plan." Brooklyn turned and smiled at Goliath, willing to listen.
Brooklyn, Goliath, Broadway, and Lexington flew till they landed on the roof of Gen U Tec.
"We can get in through here." Brooklyn said, poining to the window. He reaches for the window and Lexington stops him.
"Wait. See those wires? Those wires mean electricity, which means probably an alarm." Lexington said. Brooklyn sighed.
"Wonderful. Terrific. What do we do now?" Brooklyn asked. Goliath stood up.
"Find another way in." Goliath said. Goliath walks and rips part of the roof off. The Gargoyles jump in and Lexington runs over to a coputer and starts typing.
"Stop fooling around." Brooklyn growled.
"Hey. I'm trying to find your girlfriend and the other girl. I'm worried about Liz as much as you are." Lexington said, without looking from the screen.
"Let him look, Brooklyn." Broadway said.
"Got it." Lexington said. They entered a room to find the Lion Gargoyle and Elizabeth in a cell.
"Brooklyn." Elizabeth said, seeing the Gargoyles.
"Your still normal." Brooklyn said, running to the glass.. Elizabeth nodded. Maggie sees them.
"Stay back." Maggie said. She pushed a button. "Someone help me." Alarms started going off.
"Maggie. They are here to get us out." Elizabeth said. Goliath grabbed a table and started breaking the glass. Elizabeth moved away. He scratched at the glass and broke the glass fully with the table. Elizabeth quickly got out. Brooklyn pulled her into a hug.
"I'm glad your alright." Brooklyn said.
"Maggie. Let's go." Elizabeth said. Xanatos's men run in with guns.
"Lock down the labatory." The leader said. The other one shots a tranq at Maggie and she falls. Broadway grabs her as more shots were fired. Goliath held up a table as a shield and walks towards them as Elizabeth took some shots at them. A can rolls under Goliath and smoke comes out. Elizabeth coughs.
"Derek." Elizabeth said. She runs towards a door and opens it.
"Liz. Wait." Brooklyn said, running after her as she entered the labatory. Servarius was about to give Derek the antidote.
"Elizabeth." Xanatos said, eyes widening. The Gargoyles run in.
"Not now." Derek said.
"Xanatos. I should of known." Goliath said as the Gargoyles and Elizabeth charged at them. Shots were fired from behind and Elizabeth rolled out of the shots. Lexington knocked one of the guards into Servarius. Elizabeth cornered her brother.
"You think I will ever forgive you for this or Elisa will when she finds out." Elizabeth said.
"No. I don't expect you to." David said.
"NO!" Derek yells. Elizabeth turns to see the antitote destroyed. Xanatos takes advantage of her distracted and shoves her out of the way. Brooklyn growls and runs to her. Elizabeth gets up and runs to Derek ignoring Brooklyn as Goliath starts punching a hole in the wall.
"Derek. Come with me." Elizabeth said.
"No. I can't face my sister like this. The antidote is destroyed. Just leave me Elizabeth." Derek said.
"Brooklyn. We got your friend and Liz. Let's go." Goliath called.
"But..." Elizabeth said.
"GO!" Derek yelled. Derek didn't miss the hurt on her face as Brooklyn quickly grabbed Elizabeth and they jumped out of the room with Lexington.
"Who was that you were talking to?" Brooklyn asked.
"Derek. He got the potion that was meant for my brother. He's now one of them." Elizabeth said as they reached the roof. Brooklyn saw the tears in her eyes. "I can't believe my brother would do this." Brooklyn picked her up and held her close.
"I'm sorry, Liz. You still got me." Brooklyn said. They took off.
"Hey Liz. Why weren't you changed into one of them?" Broadway asked.
"Apparently I'm immune to the potion. That it didn't seem to work on me." Elizabeth said.
"That's weird." Lexington said. Goliath nodded. Broadway had Maggie in his arms as they flew back to the clocktower. Brooklyn could hear Elizabeth soft sobbing. He knew she was close with Derek. They landed on the balony and Brooklyn set her down. Hudson peaked out.
"Lass your alright. You had the lads worried." Hudson said as Broadway carried Maggie over to the couch. Hudson hugged Elizabeth.
"Thanks Hudson. I'm glad to be home." Elizabeth said. Bronx came over and gave a low growl. Elizabeth hugged Bronx, happy to see the dog. Maggie groaned and gasped when she saw the Gargoyles.
"Its alright. Your among friends." Elizabeth said, coming over. Maggie studdied Elizabeth. Maggie stood up and backed away towards Goliath.
"Were you all human once?" Maggie asked.
"No." Goliath said. Maggie moved away from Goliath.
"Well I'm human. I'm not like this." Maggie said. She was clearly terrified. "My name is Maggie Reed. I'm from Ohio."
"You'll be safe here Maggie." Lexington said.
"Safe? This is safe? I need a cure. I'm not a monster." Maggie said, falling to the ground, putting her hands to her face. Brooklyn came over and put a hand on her shoulder.
"We're not monster either. Don't be afraid." Brooklyn said. Maggie moved out of his reach.
"Dawns coming. We all need rest." Goliath said.
"Liz. You don't look like you slept." Broadway said.
"I haven't. It was hard sleeping on cement floor." Elizabeth said.
"We will find you a cure tomorrow, Maggie. Even if we have to confront Xanatos to get it." Goliath said. Maggie and Elizabeth follow the Gargoyles up to the outside. Brooklyn kissed Elizabeth on the check and jumped on his perch. Maggie gasped as the Gargoyles started turning to stone. Maggie fell to the ground in terror.
"Let's go inside. You can crash in one of the chairs." Elizabeth said. Maggie stood up and they walked inside. Elizabeth went to grab blankets. Maggie kept eying the trap door. Elizabeth handed her a blanket.
"You sleep here?" Maggie asked.
"I use to stay with my brother till he turned on the Gargoyles. I couldn't risk the trio coming to get me without my brother trying to hurt them so I moved with them." Elizabeth explained.
"You don't trust him?" Maggie asked.
"With my life yes, but anything else. No. He lied to me to many times." Elizabeth said. Maggie took the blanket. Elizabeth yawned. She laid on the couch. Soon as her head hit the pillow she passed out. Maggie waited till the girl was out before she snuck out.
At sunset. Elizabeth woke up to roars. She stretched and saw that Maggie was missing. She swore lightly as the Gargoyles came down.
"She must of slipped out when we were all asleep." Elizabeth said, looking at the Gargoyles.
"But she needs our help." Brooklyn said.
"I got a feeling she went to my brother." Elizabeth said. Goliath nodded.
"Hudson. You and Bronx stay here in case she returns. The rest of us will go to the castle." Goliath said.
"I'm coming to. I can help control my brother." Elizabeth said. Goliath nodded. They all hurried outside and Brooklyn quickly scoopepd Elizabeth. They flew towards the Castle. The Mutants were flying around. "Get me to my brother and go help the others." Brooklyn nodded as two came at Broadway and Lexington and Derek flew at Goliath. Maggie flew away.
"Maggie wait." Brooklyn called. Brooklyn set Elizabeth where Xanatos was then flew after Maggie.
"David. Stop. This is ridiculas." Elizabeth demanded coming over as the mutants fought the Gargoyles and Maggie tried to stay away from Brooklyn. David goes to answer when Derek and Goliath collide to the ground. "Derek. What are you doing?" Goliath kicks Derek off. Owen runs over.
"Dectective Masa is here." Owen said.
"Good send her up. We need to end this nonsense violence." Xanatos said as a roar came as Elizabeth saw Brooklyn and Maggie disappear.
"You want her to find out the truth of her brother. I don't think Derek is ready for that." Elizabeth said, turning on her brother, anger written on her face.
"If its the only way to stop them from fighting, then yes." Xanatos yelled. Goliath let out a yell and Elizabeth turned to see Derek send energy into Goliath.
"Derek stop. He's not your enemy." Elizabeth said, running over.
"I don't go by that name. Call me Talon." Derek said.
"Talon please." Elizabeth said.
"Freeze." Elisa's voice came as she showed up and pointed the gun as Talon. "Back off and you won't get hurt." Talon backed off. Elizabeth ran over to Goliath to make sure he was alright. "Good. Now, who are you?"
"Call me... Talon." Talon said.
"Alright Talon. why were you stomping on my friend here?" Elisa said as Elizabeth helped Goliath stand.
"your friend mad me like this." Talon said.
"No." Elizabeth said.
"Impossible. Goliath would never intentionally harm anyone." Elisa said. Talon let out a snarl and didn't say anything. The other Gargoyles land. Elizabeth gave a questioning look at Brooklyn. He shook his head no. Elizabeth looked down. "Look, I want to help you."
"Promise." Talon said.
"Cross my heart." Elisa said, drawing an x over her heart.
"And hop to..." Talon turned away quickly as Elisa gasped.
"Derek. Is that you?" Elisa said. Derek used his wings to shield himself.
+ "No." Derek said.
"Xanatos did this to you." Elisa said. Elizabeth and Goliath shared worried looks.
"It was an accident. He's trying to help me." Talon said.
"Don't you get it. He's lying to you. He's always lied to you." Elisa said, putting hands on Talon. He lit up with electricity and Elisa was blown away.
"Elisa!" Elizabeth shouted, running to her friend. Talon turned as Elizabeth and Elisa looked at Talon.
"Elisa. I'm sorry." Talon said, reaching for his sister. She moved away terrified. Elizabeth shook her head at Talon telling him not right now. "NO!" Talon yelled, pain clear in his voice. Talon took off and the other mutants followed. Elisa stood up.
"I'm sorry, Elisa." Elizabeth said.
"I'm glad your safe Elizabeth." Elisa said.
"Should we go after them?" Broadway asked as they came over. Brooklyn came up to Elizabeth.
"No. They don't need our help." Brooklyn said.
"I think its best we leave them alone for now." Elizabeth said, looking at Goliath, who nodded in agreement. Elisa spun on Xanatos.
"Now its war Xanatos. Your going down for this. I promise you. No matter what it takes." Elisa said, pointing at Xanatos.
"And she's got me backing her on it." Elizabeth said. Xanatos looked hurt that his own sister would turn on him but after her being held by Servarius and witnessing everything. He didn't blame her. Brooklyn picked up Elizabeth as Elisa walked out to leave. Goliath took off and the Gargoyles took off after him. They reached the tower and step in. Elisa was sitting in a corner crying. Elizabeth ran over to her and hugged her. The Gargoyles stood watching the girls as they huggged.
"You think there is a way to save them?" Broadway asked. Goliath sighed.
"I don't know." Goliath said.
"You think the girls will be alright?" Lexington said.
