Chapter 15
Vows

Elizabeth was staying at the Xanatos castle the day before the wedding to help Fox get ready. The night before Brooklyn and Goliath had dropped her off and Goliath got asked to be the best man. Elizabeth stood in a midevil green dress with long sleeves. She looked in the mirror. She looked so out of place, but Fox recommended it plus the green went well with her auburn hair. Her hair was done in a double french braid and tied in a knot in the back. Elizabeth looked at the time and gasped.

"Shoot." Elizabeth picked up her skirts and ran towards the courtyard. Her father was arriving. She ran into Fox as she came in.

"Your dads here." Fox said with a smile. She grinned. "That dress looks good on you."

"Thank you. I'll come and help you get ready soon as I say hi to my father." Elizabeth said.

"Go ahead." Fox said. Elizabeth ran out into the courtyard to see Xanatos and her father walking towards the castle.

"Daddy!" Elizabeth said with a huge grin on her face. Petros Xanatos grinned when he saw his daughter running towards him.

"There's my girl." Petros said as Elizabeth threw her arms around her father's neck and hugged him. Xanatos rolled his eyes. Elizabeth was always a daddy's girl while David was more close to his mom. "You look absolutly gorgous in the dress." Elizabeth smiled as she twirled for her father.

"Thank you. Fox let me pick it out." Elizbeth said.

"So when do I meet your boyfriend?" Petros asked as they walk towards the castle.

"You told him?" Xanatos asked.

"I did. You sure your fine with me dating someone that isn't human, father?" Elizabeth asked. Xanatos's eyes widen.

"Long as your happy." Petros said.

"Still trying to wrap my head around it, father, but unlike me. Elizabeth has always been your favorite." Xanatos said, earning a glare from his sister.

"And unlike you, brother. I never ended up in jail." Elizabeth said. Petros shook his head. One thing hadn't changed about his two children. They fought constantly.

"You were always the goody two shoes in the family." Xanatos said.

"Come on you two. No fighting when its your brothers wedding." Petros said. Elizabeth sighed.

"Yes father. I'll see you tonight. I have to help Fox get ready." Elizabeth said, kissing her father on the check. She shot a glare at her brother as she left to go find Fox. Xanatos turned towards his father.

"How could you accept your daughters boyfriend." Xanatos said. Petros turned towards his son.

"He's protected my daughter from dangers even though I know she can hold her ground, especially against you. I remember coming out in the backyard to find you pinned to the ground getting your butt kicked by a 10 year old and you didn't lift a finger against her, cause I taught you better then that. To this day, your terrified of your sister. I want to see her happy. Even if its with a Gargoyle. It broke my heart finding out from her that you werer going to jail for stealing from your own company." Petros said. Xanatos looked down, knowing his father was right.

That night. Elizabeth was finishing doing Fox's hair.

"You did warn Brooklyn that Demona was coming?" Fox asked.

"I did. He'll be on his best behavor with the wedding." Elizabeth said. Fox grinned. Elizabeth saw two shadows fly by. "Looks like they are here now." Fox nodded as she stood up.

"What you think?" Fox asked.

"You look amazing. We should get going." Elizabeth said.

"Go ahead of me. I know you want to introduce Brooklyn to your father." Fox said. Elizabeth hugged her friend and headed for the door. "Liz. When I say come with us after the ceremony. Follow us out tonight. We got something planned and I know you would like it." Elizabeth raised an eyebrow at her friend and nodded. She ran out of the room and reached the courtyard as Goliath and Brooklyn land in the courtyard where Xanatos and Owen were waiting. Elizabeth grinned and ran towards Brooklyn and hugged him.

"Thank you for coming." Elizabeth said, kissing his check.

"Doing it for you and that dress looks amazing on you." Brooklyn said, holding out his arm. Elizabeth took it.

"Thank you." Elizabeth said. They walked into the room to see the preacher waiting with her father. "You ready?" Brooklyn nodded as they walked up to Petros. "Father. This is Brooklyn." Petros looked shocked a bit to see his daughter wasn't kidding. Brooklyn held out his hand.

"Its an honor to meet you, Mr. Xanatos." Brooklyn said. Petros gave a nod and shook Brooklyn's hand.

"Nice to finally meet you. My daugther has said good things on you. Treat her well, Brooklyn." Petros said.

"I will, sir." Brooklyn said. Fox came into the room and Elizabeth moved away to stand near Fox. Goliath looked so uneasy as Brooklyn stood with her father. The preacher gasped and Elizabeth heard Brooklyn let out a low growl as she looked to see Demona enter and walk towards Goliath.

"Demona?" Goliath asked.

"I'm only attending this farce because Xanatos insisted. I need him as an ally. I neither know nor care why you're here." Demona said. Brooklyn growled and Elizabeth shot him a glare and he staid in his spot, not wanting to ruin the wedding with a fight cause Elizabeth would be mad at him.

"This is not the first wedding ritual we've atttended together. Don't you remember?" Goliath asked. Elizabeth wondered about that and decided to ask later

"I'm not interested in reminscing." Demona said. Brooklyn couldn't help the eye roll and Elizabeth didn't blame him for that. Goliath went to stand next to Xanatos as Elizabeth stood with Fox.

"We are here to day to join David Xanatos and uh..." The pastor looks at Fox, rubbing his glasses. "What is your real name, my dear." Elizabeth had to hide a giggle.

"Fox is my real name, legally." Fox said.

"Uh, Join David Xanatos and Fox in matrimony. The rings." The Pastor said. Goliath handed David the ring and Elizabeth did the same with Fox. They both put the rings on. "I now pronounce you..." Demona started walking away. "You may..." He stopped as Demona walked out of the room. Goliath follows and Brooklyn goes after the leader.

"Now the fun begins." Xanatos said.

"What?" Elizabeth asked as Fox grabbed her as they went after the Gargoyles. Petros stopped his son.

"This is your wedding? Have you no respect for anything." Petros said.

"When does he not." Elizabeth said with an eyebrow, earning an elbow from Fox.

"I'm sorry. I'm in a bit of a hurry." Xanatos said, pushing his father to the side as they went to follow the Gargoyles. They came out to see Demona laughing as she held two pieces. Brooklyn was standing near Goliath.

"Goliath, you're a sentimental fool. You feel right into our trap. Now I have the phoenix gate and I plan to use it." Demona said, putting the two together. Fox grabs Elizabeth and pulls her with her and Xanatos as a light surrounds Goliath, Demona, and Brooklyn as Demona does a spell, and they join them in the light.

"Seems like the honeymoon is starting earlier then expected." Owen said as Petros joined them. There was a flash of light and they were gone. They appear in a forest.

"Where are we?" Petros asked as they look around.

"The question isn't where but when." Xanatos said. Demona took off running with Goliath right behind her.

"Brooklyn go. I'll be fine." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded and ran after the two. They heard swords clanging in the distance and ran to see horses circling two other horses. They knocked one off the horse and Xanatos ran to help. Elizabeth runs and tackles one of the men off the horse. He lookes up as Elizabeth pulls her fist back and punches him in the face. Fox had another one knocked out as Xanatos turns to face another one. Petros uses his coat and pulls him off the horse. The other man that was fighting the others and knocked the other one off the horse. Xanatos helped the other on the horse as Elizabeth grabbed the horses from running.

"Come on. Impress me." Xanatos said. The man runs at him and Xanatos kicks him sending him into the ground. The men run away as Xanatos and Petros gets on horses. Xanatos looks at his wife and sister. "Having fun?"

"A marvelous time." Fox said. The man and the other one came up to their saviors.

"We are most grateful for your aid, strangers. But we cannot..." He paused and laughed when he saw a pin on Xanatos's coat and laughed. He pulled down his hood. "Good friend." He pulls out his glove and shows a ring with a pyramid on it. Elizabeth reconized it as an illuminati ring. She forgot her brother was part of them. "I am the Normand Ambassador." Him and Xanatos shook hands. He nodded to his companion and Elizabeth saw it was a female who was dressed like a man, probably a disquise. The Female gave a nod. "My companion and I bear precious gifts for Prince Malcolm of Wyvern." Elizabeth had to hold her gasp. Prince Malcolm? Wyvery? Hudson had talked about the Prince and he mentioned the castle name. They were back in the Middle Ages. "You wear strange garb, but you are also an excellent fighter, and a fellow illuminatus." He whispered the last words. I would be honored if you and your party would accompany us the last few miles to Castle Wyvern." He turns the horse towards the road with the female and looks back. "I warrant Prince Malcolm will be very generous." Elizabeth rode next to Fox.

"So this is why you wanted me to come and encouraged this dress." Elizabeth said. Fox grinned.

"I know you wouldn't have wanted to miss this." Fox said. They arrived at Castle Wyvern. Elizabeth saw a red Gargoyle fly by and land on top of the wall. Elizabeth smiled, knowing it was Brooklyn. They get off their horses and guards took the horses away. King Malcolm came down the steps. Elizabeth noticed a old man in a cape and stick watching them with interest.

"We're much pleased of your safe arrival, ambassador. But where pray tell is my bride." Malcolm asked.

"It was hoped that by traveling in seret. We'd avoid the attentions of rouges and thieves." The ambassador said. The female pulled down her hood to show a beauty with red hair. Elizabeth knew she was Princess Catherine's mom. If Malcolm was saying she was his bride.

"We were wrong, but these kind strangers rescued us most valiantly." The females gestured towards the Xanatos family. Xanatos bowed to the Prince. The Prince dug into his bag and pulled out some coins and walks up to Xanatos.

"These Tolkens are but the first of your reward." The Prince said. He put the tolkens in Xanatos's hand, making Petros raise an eyebrow. "Tonight you'll have fine food, fine lodging and fine clothes. We were to have been married tomorrow, but this attack on Princess Elena makes me anxious." He walks up to the Princess and touches her face then heads to the stairs. "We shall be wed this very night. Prepare the Great Hall." The Princess walks towards the steps. The Ambassador stops the Princess.

"Is your father's wedding gift safe?" Elizabeth heard the ambassodor ask. The Princess nods and pulls out the Phoenix Gate from her sleeve. Elizabeth's eyes widen.

"I shall present the Phoenix Gate to my husband." Princess said. The princess leads the way up the steps as the Xanatos family follows them. Elizabeth turned to look where Brooklyn was before she enters. He gives her a nod and takes off to fly Goliath. The Prince ordered the maids to get clothes for the newcommers and Elizabeth and Fox were lead into a room and the maids get dresses ready for the girls. Elizabeth and Fox got in the outfits that were laid out. Fox was in a blue dress with a veil headband. Elizabeth changed into a red one but passed on the veil. But she pulled her hair out of its style and let it fall in curls down her back.

"That outfit looks good on you, Fox." Elizabeth said. Fox grinned.

"Thank you. Hopefuly the men are treated good." Fox said. Elizabeth nodded. They headed out to the courtyard where Xanatos and Petros were dressed in garments to go with the times. The Ambassodor rode up to them. Xanatos walked up to him and handed him an envelope. The Ambassodor took the envelope and gave Xanatos a nod. He turned the horse and left. Petros approached his son.

"What are you hatching now?" Petros asked, crossing his arms.

"That envelope contains my personal instructions for the Illuminati Society, plus two smaller sealed envelopes. The Society is to wait 1,000 years and then deliver the first envelope to a young David Xanatos of Bar Harbor, Maine. The envelope contains a coin Prince Malcolm gave me earlier. It's practically worthless now in 975 A.D. But by 1975 it will be worth 20 grand. The second envelope will be delivered 20 years after the first. It contains a detailed account of how the coin was obtained. That's how I knew how to set this all up." Xanatos said.

"So that's how you got rich and stuff. Always wondered how." Elizabeth said, crossing her arms. Her brother gave her a smirk.

"I received instructions from myself last week. So you see, pop. I am indeed a self-made man." Xanatos said. Elizabeth snorted.

"I'm so proud of you." Fox said, touching Xanatos's face. Petros put his hands on his hips.

"Alright. Mr. Big Shot time traveler. You sent offf your little letter before answering one important question. How do we get back home?" Petros asked. Elizabeth slipped up the steps towards the walls and looks around. Brooklyn lands on one of the perches. Elizabeth grinned and comes up to him.

"You look like you fit in this era, Liz." Brooklyn said.

"I feel like it. I'm really enjoying it here. Where's Goliath and Demona?" Elizabeth asked. Brooklyn shook his head.

"He and Demona and the younger Demona disappeared with the Phoenix Gate." Brooklyn said.

"So they can be anywhere." Elizabeth said. The others soon joined them on the wall. Elizabeth and Brooklyn stood talking with Petros as a firey ball appeared next to them. Elizabeth looked to see Goliath holding Demona and a younger version of Demona was right next to him.

"Looks like we found our ticket home." Xanatos said. Goliath approached them.

"If I didn't fear the damage you'd do the time stream. I'd gladly leave you here." Goliath said, earning a chuckle from Elizabeth and a smirk from Brooklyn.

"Can we with Demona?" Brooklyn asked, earning a nudge from Elizabeth. "Ow." Goliath shook his head.

"But you won't. Because you didn't. Time travel's funny that way." Xanatos said with a smirk. Goliath growled and turned to the young Demona.

"Goodbye, young angel. Remember your promise promise. Young Demona nodded and moved away. Goliath looked to make sure all his companions were there. "Des Legarte. Muri Tempi. et intervalia." They disappear in a flame of light.

Present Day. They appeared in the courtyard where Owen and the Priest stood waiting. Elizabeth stood with Brooklyn, who had an arm around her. She rested a hand on his chest and smiled up at him.

"Its good to be home now." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn just smiled and kissed her check.

"Get away from me, you sentimental fool!" Elizabeth looked to see Demona jump out of Goliath's arms. "You may have prevented me from altering the past, but you failed too. You see, I have clear memories of your inspirational about keeping my vows of love. I nerver forgot it. And it changed nothing! Obviously history is immutable." Demona said. Goliath turned his back on Demona.

"Nor is the pity." Goliath said. Goliath goes and jumps on the wall. Petros comes to Elizabeth as Brooklyn goes to pick her up.

"Elizabeth. Can I do lunch with you tomorrow before I leave?" Petros asked. Elizabeth nodded.

"Sure dad. Can I call you when I wake up and I can meet you at the diner?" Elizabeth asked.

"Of course. Take care of her Brooklyn." Petros said.

"I will sir. It was nice to meet you." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth comes and hugs her father and kisses his check. She goes up to Brooklyn who picks her up and climbs the wall to join Goliath and they fly towards the clock tower.

"Dad likes you." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn grinned.

"He did. He seems not to favor your brother." Brooklyn said.

"David was more of a mama's boy while I was a daddies girl. David never liked the attention I got from my father." Elizabeth said. They arrived at the clock tower to see the other Gargoyles and Elisa waiting for them. Hudson had to stop Elisa from going after Goliath.

"You promised you wouldn't go." Elisa said as Goliath walked towards the door and Brooklyn set down Elizabeth. Goliath didn't answer her.

"Let him be. He had a hard night." Elizabeth said as they turned on her.

"Is that the dress Fox had you wear?" Elisa asked.

"No. Brooklyn and I can explain. Let's get inside." Elizabeth said, heading for the door with Brooklyn behind her. It had been a night, but a memory worth remembering.

AN: I don't know why. But I always loved this episode. Till next time.
