Chapter 18 Much Needed Alone Time

Elizabeth was eager for this night. Brooklyn and her had the night off from work for her and patrol from him. Elizabeth had a tank top and shorts on with her swimsuit underneath as she waited for the sun to go down. A beach bag of snacks and towels wa on her shoulder. Elizabeth hurried out onto the balcony as the Gargoyles were waking from their sleep. Brooklyn turned when he heard Elizabeth approach him. He turned nad grinned at her as she smiled back.

"Ready to go?" Brooklyn asked as she came up to him.

"Let's go." Elizabeth said, eager to get out before someone makes them stay. The other Gargoyles stepped into the clock tower. Brooklyn scooped her up and took off. The night air was warm, but not to hot. Elizabeth loved flying with Brooklyn and she felt safe with him. They stopped at their favorite restraunt. Elizabeth entered and got food for her and Brooklyn. She came out and Brooklyn got her on his back to climb the wall and they flew off.

Tonight they were going to their favorite beach near the ocean. Nightime it was usually dead and they could roam the beach freely without being caught. Brooklyn landed with ease in the sand. He set her down and they sat down on the sand. They sat in silence as they ate their food and watched the waves crash against the sand. It was a quiet night.

They finished eating. Elizabeth stood up with the garbage and went to put in the trash. She came back to find Brooklyn had disappeared. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow.

"Brooklyn?" Elizabeth asked. Something came behind her and she squealed as Brooklyn threw her over his shoulder. "Brook!" Brooklyn laughed as he walked towards the water. "Put me down!"

"Nah!" Brooklyn said with laughter in his voice. Elizabeth looked over her shoulder to see him heading for the ocean.

"No. Don't you dare!" Elizabeth said as Brooklyn splashed into the water and dumped her in the water. Elizabeth surfaces gasping as Brooklyn stood laughing. "You know I hate when you do that to me." Brooklyn gave her an innocent look.

"You know you can't stay mad at me forever." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth knew he was right and she smiled at him. She ran up and threw her arms around his neck as he caught her and pressed a kiss to his beak. He returned it. They pull apart and press heads against each other.

"No I can't. We need to get away more often though." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded as he set her back in the water. She headed back to their spot and pulled out her towel. Elizabeth dried off as Brooklyn sat on the sand.

"Shall we go for a walk?" Brooklyn asked. Elizabeth put her towel in the bag and puts it on her shoulder, nodding. Brooklyn and Elizabeth walked along the shoreline.

A scream fills the air and Elizabeth looks to see a man steal a purse from a woman.

"Help!" The woman yells. Brooklyn growls and takes off running afer the man. Elizabeth ran to the woman. She looked shaken.

"You alright?" Elizabeth asked.

"I'm fine. That man stole my purse." The woman said. A mans scream filled the air and Elizabeth smiled knowing Brooklyn had caught him. "What was that?"

"You'll have your purse back shortly." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn came over with the purse.

"Here you go." Brooklyn said, smiling. The woman looked terrified as Elizabeth took the purse and gave it to her. She ran screaming.

"MONSTER!" The woman shouted.

"This is getting old." Brooklyn grumbled.

"I can't help but agree. Its gonna take time for people to accept you guys." Elizabeth said, coming up to Brooklyn.

"That's what Goliath says. Just happy we got you and Elisa as our friends." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth opened her mouth to say something when her phone went off. Elizabeth opened her bag and pulled out her phone.

"It's Fox." Elizabeth said. She hit answer. "Hey Fox what is it?"

"Hey, Liz. Can you come to the castle for the minute. Need to talk to you for a minute." Fox said.

"I'm with Brooklyn. I can have him bring me to the castle." Elizabeth said.

"Oh perfect. I need to talk to both of you. See you shortly." Fox said. Elizabeth hung up.

"What did Fox want?" Brooklyn asked.

"She wants to talk to both of us." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn looked shocked.

"Let's go then." Brooklyn said. She climbed onto his back and he climbed a building till he got to the roof. She gets off and he picks her up. Brooklyn takes off into the air and heads for the castle. Fox and Xanatos were waiting for them in the courtyard. Brooklyn landed in the courtyard and set Elizabeth down.

"You look like you were at a beach." Xanatos said.

"It was one of our nights off, David but yes we were at a beach." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn crossed his arms. "What did you need to talk about." Fox and Xanatos shared looks.

"Well. We got some news we want to share since you are family." Xanatos said.

"Where do I fall in that category?" Brooklyn said.

"Your dating Liz. Your becoming family." Fox said. Elizabeth gave Brooklyn a smile.

"Even if I don't approve, but you make my sister happy." Xanatos said.

"That's a first from you. What's the news?" Elizabeth asked.

"Your going to be an aunt." Fox said. Elizabeth squealed with delight as she ran and hugged Fox. She had been waiting for the news that she was going to be an aunt. She knew Fox had been sick and was getting a test done. She even suspected it might be a pregnancy. Brooklyn chuckled and Xanatos smirked.

"That little one is going to be spoiled." Brooklyn said, looking at Xanatos.

"I wouldn't doubt it. My sister loves kids." Xanatos said. Brooklyn smirks. Fox and Elizabeth pull apart.

"And your brother wanted you both here to ask a question." Fox said. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow at her brother.

"We both would like you and Brooklyn to be the Godparents to our child." Xanatos said.

"Godparent?" Brooklyn asked.

"If anything happens to David or Fox we would be guardian of their child." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded. Elizabeth turned to her best friend and brother. "We be honored." Fox and David smiled.

"Liz. Its getting close to dawn. We should get back." Brooklyn said.

"Breakfast later?" Fox asked.

"Yes." Elizabeth said. The girls hugged and Elizabeth punched her brother in the arm. Xanatos knew they were back on good terms for now. Brooklyn picked up Elizabeth and went to the wall. He took off into the sky heading home. Elizabeth knew that life was gonna get good.
