Goliath was rowing the boat through the fog. The fog was thick.
"Oberon is gathering his magical children home to Avalon. I wish Avalon would finally send us home as well." Goliath said.
"You and me both." Elisa said.
"I miss the Trio, Hudson, and Elizabeth." Goliath said. Bronx laid down and Elisa put a hand on Bronx. "I'd give much to see Manhattan's spires again." Lighting strikes and hits Goliath. He groans and falls into the boat. Elisa and Angela grab him
"Goliath?" Elisa asked.
"I'm. I'm fine. Look!" Goliath said, seeing something coming out of the fog. Elisa gasped.
"The Statue of Liberty! We're home." Elisa said. Bronx barks excidely Everyone gaspes as they saw the Statue of Liberty broken.
"No." Goliath said. They looked towards the city to see taller buildings that wasn't there when they left. Elisa shook her head.
"What... What happened?" Elisa asked. A spotlight went over them and they duck.
"This is the world you wanted me to see?" Angela asked.
"It wasn't like this. This is impossible" Elisa siad. A beeping came as a spotlight landed on them.
"Attening by entering these waters you are violating Manhattan national sovereignty." A man's voice came. The steal clan surrounds them and points their guns at them. "Prepare for apprehension." The Gargoyles and Elisa jump out of the boat and dive into the water as the Steal clan shoots the boat and destroys it. Goliath and Bronx surface gasping for air.
"Angela! Elisa!" Goliath shouted. Elisa bursts from the water.
"Goliath! Help!" Elisa shouts.
"Hold on! Elisa." Goliath said as he swam to her. As he nears, Elisa gasps and gets pulled under the water. Goliath dives in after her. He found one of the Steal clan holding her and he goes after it but the Steal clan blasts off into the water and away from the water. Goliath surfaces. "Elisa, NO!" Goliath sees another Steal clan has his daughter as they fly towards the city. Another Steal Clan flies at Goliath and knocks him under the water. They wrestle under the water and Goliath gasps for air. The steal clan bursts from the water but something shot at it. The robot drops Goliath as it explodes. Goliath hits the water. He surfaces and looks to see a boat heading right for him.
"Ooh. Pull up slow, Claw." Goliath saw an old man and Claw who looked older standing on the boat as they brought down a ladder. You don't want to ram him." Bronx jumps on the side, barking happily. Goliath pulls himself onto the boat.
"Thank you, Strangers." Goliath said as Bronx jumps on him, licking his face. Goliath smiled.
"Strangers? Is that any way to greet old friends? Goliath, it's me.. Matt Bluestone!" Matt said.
"Bluestone? What has happened to you?" Goliath asked
"Well, I got older. What happened to you? You look exactly the same after 40 years." Matt said.
"40 years? It cannot be. I know time passes more slowly on Avalon, but.." He rubbed Bronx's head and stood up. "This mystery will have to wait. Elisa and Angela have been captured by Xanatos' robots." Matt looked worried.
"That's bad. Claw. Get us back to base." Matt said, looking at Claw. Claw nodded and headed for the stearing wheel and steered them towards land.
On land. Goliath and Bronx walked with Claw and Matt down the streets. People looked at them, but didn't run away. Goliath was a little surprised.
"They are not afraid of us?" Goliath asked.
"They've got better things to be afraid of." Matt said. They gasp as the Steal Clan flies over them and they run into an alleyway as marching feet came as they watched machines that almost look like Talon march by and destroy a cart that a woman was pushing and marched by, destroying a picture frame. The others peak out as the woman picks up the frame and cleans off the broken glass. Matt had to stop Goliath from going after the machines. "Goliath, no! You can't fight them all. Not here. Not now." Goliath sighs as an alarm started blaring. Xanatos appears over the tallest building in three holagrams looking in every direction of the city.
"Rejoice, my people. The age of Xanatopia is at hand. All of your suffering and hardship will soon come to an end." A woman appears in the hologram all raggy and comes up to Xanatos and takes his hand. She turns into a princess and turns. "And the rest of the world will enjoy the fruits of my benevolent leadership. Soon my people, very soon." Xanatos disappears. Goliath was mad.
"Xanatos must be stopped! We must return to the clock tower. Get the others!" Goliath said. Matt put a hand on Goliath's shoulder.
"Goliath. That is the clock tower." Matt said, pointing towards the clocktower. The top was destroyed. Goliath looked on in shock. More steal clan flew in the air shining red light to the road. Matt pushes them into the alley. "Come on. Its not safe out in the open."
Matt led Goliath and Bronx into the hiding place where they were hiding. Goliath looked around, looking for his friends. He gasped when he found Hudson standing there in his statue form.
"The first hero of the Resistance. He died fighting Xanatos' breakaway from the U.S. 32 years ago." Matt said. Goliath walked up to him and touched his old mentor.
"Hudson... Dead." Goliath said. Bronx whimpered.
"None of us have seen Xanatos in person since." Matt said as Goliath bowed his head.
"I saw his broadcast image. He does not look 40 years older." Goliath said.
"The rumor is he's realized his dream of immortality." A familiar voice said. Goliath turned to see Brooklyn, who was dressed in armor standing in the doorway.
"Brooklyn." Goliath said, walking up to him.
"Welcome back, Goliath. I've been waiting a long time for this." Brooklyn said. He punches Goliath, sending him flying. Goliath groaned as Brooklyn got over him, growling. "You got a lot of nerve showing your face around here!" Goliath looked at his second in command in shock.
"What was that all about?" Matt asked.
"He abandoned us 40 years ago! Without you we were no match for Xanatos." Brooklyn said, pointing at Goliath.
"I didn't know. We thought our odyssey was fated. We wanted to come home." Goliath said. Brooklyn put his hands on his hips.
"Oh hey.. You know that makes everything much better." Brooklyn said.
"You didn't have to go hitting him, Brook." Elizabeth's voice came. Goliath looked as Elizabeth came out from the shadows with a tablet in her hands, but Goliath gasped at her sight. She was in a gargoyle form white skin with auburn hair. She was in the same form she was in when Puck changed her with the humans and Elisa. A scar ran down her her right eye. She stood in red armor with her wings wrapped around her. Brooklyn seemed to calm at her voice.
"Liz? What happened to you?" Goliath asked.
"Soon as Xanatos took over. Brooklyn and I went to hunt down Puck and had him turn me into a gargoyle so I was stronger to fight my brother." Elizabeth said.
"She never finished school cause of him." Brooklyn growled.
"Don't yell at him Brooklyn. He's back now." Broadway comes out. His eyes were gone and he had a metal collar on his neck. He came up to Goliath and touched his face. "That's all that matters."
"Broadway?" Goliath asked.
"I knew you'd come back. Others doubted, but Liz and I never lost faith." Broadway said, tears coming out of his eyes.. Elizabeth gave Broadway a sad look as Claw took Broadway and they walked away.
"What happened to him?" Goliath asked.
"Broadway, Talon, Maggie, and Coldstone battled Sevarius and the Ultra-Pack to save the last free humans from being turned into Mutates." Brooklyn said.
"Broadway was the lucky one." Elizabeth said.
"Mom? Dad?" A girls voice came. Goliath turned to see a female gargoyle that had a mix of both Brooklyn and Elizabeth come out from the door. She looked to be around Angela's age. She was a red gargoyle with auburn hair and armor. "What's all the noise." Goliath looked at Elizabeth and Brooklyn.
"She's your daughter?" Goliath asked. Brooklyn nodded.
"We became mates shortly after you guys disappeared and she was hatched a few years after Xanatos took control. She had to grow up fast. Morgan. This is Goliath and Bronx." Elizabeth said. Bronx came over and sniffed her and wagged his tail as Morgan knelt down and petted him. Goliath shook his head.
"If there were anything I could do to change this." Goliath said. Elizabeth and Brooklyn shared looks.
"Wait a minute. The Phoenix Gate. Tell me you have it." Brooklyn said. Goliath pulled the Phoenix Gate out of his pocket. "We've got to use it to go back in time and stop all this from happening."
"Impossible. Time is like a river. Correcting its corse against any change. History cannot be altered." Goliath said, looking at Brooklyn.
"Look around you Goliath. What have we got to lose by trying." Brooklyn said.
"The solutions lie not in the past, but in the present. We must free Elisa and Angela and topple Xanatos from his throne." Goliath said.
"That man not be so easy." Demona said. She stood in the doorway as Elizabeth handed her tablet over to Morgan.
"Demona." Goliath said, going for the attack. Brooklyn and Elizabeth stop him from attacking Demona.
"No Goliath. She's now on our side against Xanatos." Elizabeth said.
"What? She's our enemy." Goliath said.
"Not anymore." Brooklyn said as Demona smirked.
"Where's Thailog?" Goliath asked, looking around as Elizabeth and Brooklyn let Goliath go. Morgan gave the tablet back to Elizabeth. She tapped the screen as she walked towards the computers.
"Thailog was killed in teh Clone Wars." Brooklyn said, following Elizabeth. Machine movement came and Goliath looked up to see Lexington above. He was almost all Machine.
"Lexington! What has happened to you?" Goliath asked. Lexinton looked at Goliath with hatred.
"No time for explanations. Liz. Fox has infitrated Xanatos' lair." Lexington said. Elizabeth pushed some stuff on the tablet and nodded. "We're receiving the transmission now."
"We better get to the war room now." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded as everyone started heading for the war room. Lexington looked at Goliath.
"Glad to have you back, Goliath. Better late then never." Lexington said. Goliath went to follow.
In the war room. Elizabeth and Lexington sat at the tv screen. The screen was static as Elizabeth typed some things in and Lexington got a few things set.
"Homin in on Fox's signal." Lexington said.
"Fox is helping us?" Goliath asked.
"Fox is our secret weapon. Xanatos has no idea how much his son loathes him." Matt said.
"His son?" Goliath asked.
"He's got a lot of his mom in him more then his father." Elizabeth said.
"On screen now." Lexington said, pushing a button and an image came on screen what looked like a computer game. Fox was shown on the screen in an armor. He looked like his mom with red hair and the tatoo of a fox on his face, fighting his dad on screen. Brooklyn put a hand on Elizabeth's shoulder as they watched the two fight. Booms came.
"Where in the world are they?" Goliath asked.
"Somewhere inside the Eyrie Pyramid." Elizabeth said.
"I'm trying to pinpoint the signal." Lexington said.
"I'm disappointed, Alexander." Xanatos said. His arms change into cannons and point at his son. "Do you really belive. I don't know you had joined Brooklyn's rebels!" Elizabeth put a hand to her face as Xanatos shot him and Fox yelled as he fell and hit a metal piece. Xanatos lands on the metal piece as Fox stood up. Fox ran at him and kicked him, knocking him off and Xanatos grabbed the side from falling.
"Well, Father, you are well informed. Did you also know I'm broadcasting this little family chat directly to rebel headquarters?" Fox asked, looking down at his dad.
"Of course. I'm piggy-backing on your signal." Elizabeth swore under her breath at Xanatos' words. Brooklyn growled. Fox grabbed his head.
"No!" Fox yelled, backing away from his father. Xanatos pulled himself up.
"Nice try, my boy." Fox turned to face his father. "But you can't defeat me. Your rebels are doomed. And once they're gone, there will be no one left to stop me." He jumps at his son and picks him up. He sends energy through Fox and his suit. "If fact before this night is over. I'll literally be King of the World and since I'm immortal. I have no need for an heir." Fox screams in pain and explosion comes, cutting the screen. Elizabeth put her hands to face as Brooklyn put his hands on her shoulders.
"So sorry, Liz." Lexington said. Goliath remembered that she and Brooklyn were the Godparents.
"I knew Xanatos was evil, but to destroy his own son." Goliath said.
"He didn't die in vain. I got a fix on the signal." Lexington said. Elizabeth's tablet lit up and she picked it up and looked where the signal was coming from. She looked up at Brooklyn.
"Believe it or not, it was coming from the Great Hall in the old Castle." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn growled.
"Xanatos is onto us. Our only course of action is a preemptive strike." Brooklyn said.
"Attack the pyramid?" Demona asked.
"That's a risky move." Elizabeth said, turning in her seat.
"Unless someone has a more timely solution?" Brooklyn asked eying Goliath. Goliath used his wing to cover the pouch that held the Phoenix gate.
"Elisa and Angela may be there as well. They must be rescued." Goliath said. Brooklyn walked to the map of the old Castle and pyramid.
"We'll use a two-pronged attack. Matt's ground forces will plant charges o nthe lower levels. Morgan. I want you with Matt." Brooklyn said, looking at his daughter. She nodded. "That should keep Xanatos' grunts busy while those of us with wings fly into the nerve center inside Castle Wyvern. One way or another it ends tonight. Now let's get out of here before Xanatos nukes the place." Elizabeth and Lexington got up and they all leave the headquarters.
The Gargoyles flew towards the castle. Elizabeth flew with Brooklyn as they neared the caste.
"Ok, Broadway. We're coming in for a landing." Lexington said.
"I've got it covered, Lex." Broadway said. He touched the collar. "Your sonar collar's working just fine." Broadway said. Demona and Goliath land on the roof.
"Once we're inside, you must rescue Angela and escape with her." Demona said.
"Escape? To where?" Goliath asked, looking at his ex mate.
"A far away as you can. You must protect our daughter. Give her the Phoenix Gate so she may hide in the past." Demona said.
"Hiding is never a solution." Goliath said. An explosion came from below as the Gargoyles look down.
"That's our cue. We've got one shot to stop Xanatos. Let's do it!" Brooklyn said. The Gargoyles jump off with Brooklyn leading them. More explosions came from building down below as they head towards the Pyramid. They land in the courtyard.
"I hope Morgan will be alright." Elizabeth said.
"Matt and Claw will make sure she gets out safely." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth nodded.
"Telemetry coming in." Lexington said. Elizabeth looked worried. "Matt, Claw, Bronx, and Morgan are gone." Brooklyn put a hand on Elizabeth's shoulder as she bit her bottom lip.
"No time to grieve." Brooklyn said as a door in the wall opened and what looked like Thailog robots came out. Another door opened and more came out. Some even came up throught the floor, all aiming guns at the Gargoyles. "Thailog Shock Troops! Broadway, hit 'em."
"Way ahead of you, Brook." Broadway said, pushing a button on his collar. The Troops let out yells as their metal eye starts to spark. Goliath knocks one down. Elizabeth uses her tail and knocked another one over. Broadway lifted one up and tossed it at another knocking them down as Brooklyn picked up another. Lexington used his tail to knock a couple over. Demona uses a gun to knock one out. Lexington lets out a yell and Goliath sees two Thailog robots grab him and pull him behind a door in the wall. Goliath roars as he slams his body into the wall. Broadway goes to help Goliath when one of Thailog creatures aimed a gun at him and shot at Broadway. Broadway let out a yell as he was thrown into the roof.
"Broadway!" Goliath yelled. Elizabeth ripped the gun out of the robots hands and hit the butt of the gun in the robots head. Then she destroyed the gun with her hands. Brooklyn goes up to Goliath who picked up Broadway. "Hold on, Broadway. If you can last until sunrise, you'll be healed." Elizabeth came up and put hand on Brooklyn's shoudlers. He puts his hand on one of her shoulder.
"Oh. Yes. The sun. Can you see it, Goliath? It's beautiful." Broadway says. He falls down dead. Elizabeth and Demona grab guns from the fallen Thailog monsters.
"Goodbye my friend." Goliath said. He set down Broadway. Brooklyn clenched his fists as Demona goes up to Goliath and holds the gun out. Goliath's eyes lit up and he stood up. They enter the castle and Elizabeth points the gun at the door to the Great Hall and blasts it off its hindges. The Gargoyles burst into the Great Hall. "Xanatos." Elizabeth points her gun around. Computer screens filled the room. "Show yourself!" Goliath, Demona, Elizabeth, and Brooklyn start walking into the room. A light came down on them and they were suddenly beamed out of the room. The appeared in a computer like universe. Elizabeth and Demona didn't have their guns.
"Goliath!" The gargoyles turn to see Elisa and Angela being held by energy chains. "You came at last."
"What is this place?" Goliath asked.
"It's not a place, Goliath. It's me. The Real me" Xanatos' voice came. Two swords come swinging by and an image of Xanatos and Hudson fighting appeared in front of them. "Since Hudson and quarreled. Hudson sends Xanatos flying and Xanatos hits the ground. Hudson attacks Xanatos, who blocks him with a sword. Energy surges through Hudson, who screams in pain and disappears in a flash. Xanatos stands and the sword he holds explodes with Xanatos with him. Goliath and Brooklyn held up hands to block the light. They looked to see a swirling light. Elizabeth gasped.
"Your body was destroyed." Elizabeth said.
"Sad but true. However, my brain patterns and personality were successfully downloaded into my computer network, granting me the imoortality I've alway desired." The swirling disappeared and a computer showed up with Xanatos' head on top of it.
"You're not immortal. You're not even Xanatos. The Real Xanatos at his worst would not have done what you've done. You're just an unfeeling machine." Goliath said.
"Well, this machine is about to download onto every computer on the World Wide Net." Xantos said. He was holding a model of the earth in his hands. "Bringing the planet exactly the kind of order it needs." He crushes the model of the earth to pieces. "My kind."
"The world needs your kind of order like it needs anotehr ice age." Brooklyn said, pointing at Xanatos.
"Well, we can't have that. You my dear sister. Let's end the spell on you." Xanatos said. Elizabeth screamed as a flash surrounds her.
"Liz!" Brooklyn and Goliath yelled. Elizabeth falls to her knees in her human form.
"No. No." Elizabeth said, looking at her hands with tears in her eyes. Xanatos smirks evily.
"Now, how about some sun to melt through that ice." Xanatos said. The sun comes up and Elizabeth gasps as Goliath, Brooklyn, and Angela turn to stone. Demona screams in agony as she turns from Gargoyle to Human. "Well, Demona, I see Puck's spell of transformation even works in Cyberspace. You didn't turn to stone. Now to make my sister suffer." Xanatos aims a laser and Brooklyn and shoots him, destroying Brooklyn.
"NO!" Elizabeth screamed. The Xanatos blasts Angela to pieces.
"No! My daughter!" Demona said. Elizabeth and Demona charge at Xanatos. Xanatos grabs them both as they try and tackle him and holds them down sending energy through them.
"Goliath, listen! This world is not real. It's controlled by the mind." Demona said.
"If your will is greate, you can defeat it!" Elizabeth called. Elizabeth watched as Goliath started moving but in his stone form. Elizabeth smiled before Elizabeth and Demona disappeared in a flash of light for good.
"Well that's that." Xanatos said, standing up. Goliath grabbed his hand.
"No it is not." Goliath said. Xanatos turned into a spear of destruction and started spinning destroying Goliath's arm to get free. Xanatos moves out of the way. He comes back and destroys the other arm.
"Goliath. No!" Elisa yelled as Xanatos moves away and smirks evily as he strarts spinning again to come in for an attack. He comes back and swirls around till it was only dust and Xanatos was holding Goliath's head.
"Alas, poor Goliath. I knew him well." Xanatos said.
"You will not win." Goliath's head spoke, glarng at Xanatos.
"Whare you gong to do? Bite my keecaps off?" Xanatos asked with a smirk. Goliath closes his eyes and concentrate. The dust around them started swirling fast. Whatever you're up to, it won't work." The dust collides with Xanatos and surrounds him and Goliath. Xanatos screams in pain. The Circle of rock transforms back into Goliath who breaks out of the rock. Lightning starts to strike and Goliath flies over to Elisa. He wraps her up in his wings and transport them back to the Great Hall.
"Demona, Brooklyn, Liz, Angela." Goliath speaks with his head down.
"Gone. Bye-Bye." Lexington voice said from the computer screens. A chair floats down from the big one and comes down to tront turning to show Lexington sitting in the chair. "Sorry about that." Elisa gasps.
"Lexington?" Elisa asked. Lexingtong stood up.
"I had to keep you occupied while I finished dowloading the Xanatos program." Lexington said, pointing to the screens. A countdown was on one of the screens. "In less than a minute, all the world will belong to me."
"It was you all along?" Goliath asked.
"Yep. Xanatos really did die in the fight with Hudson. I just kept his memory alive, so I could run the show unmolested." Lexington said with an evil smirk on his face.
"You betrayed your own clan!" Goliath pointed at Lexington grabbed his hand and pulled it down.
"You betrayed us. You disappeared when we needed you the most." Lexington said. His eyes glowed white. "You've lost, Goliath! Even if you destroy this terminal, there are a thousand others all over the city!" Goliath's eyes lit up.
"Traitor!" Goliath yelled. Lexington jumps on Goliath and they are start fighting. Goliath grabs him by the tail and pulls him off. He swings Lexington around and sends him head first into a monitor. The monitors start sending lightning as they start blowing up. Goliath grabbed Elisa and ran out of the building as a fireball follows them. Goliath jumps off the castle and flies through the air as the Castle was destroyed. A rock sends Goliath into the ground and Elisa goes rolling out of his arms. Elisa gets up.
"We've lost, Goliath." Elisa said. She walks over to Goliath. "It was all for nothing. You heard Lex. The countdown wasn't stopped. The Xanatos program is spreading all over the glove. There's only one chance left. The Phoenix Gate." Goliath's eyes opened and looked at Elisa.
"It's too late. Even if we could change the past. I'm too weak to use it." Goliath said, shaking his head as he laid on the ground.
"Then let me try. There's nothing to lose." Elisa said.
"Here." Goliath said. He opens the pouch and the Phoenix gate falls out. "Take it." Elisa reaches for it but doesn't pick it up.
"Give it to me." Elisa said.
"Too weak." Goliath said.
"No, you're not. Put it in my hand." Elisa said. Goliath's eyes widen. Something wasn't right.
"If you want it, take it." Goliath said.
"Give it to me! Now!" Elisa said. Goliath sat up and looked at Elisa.
"No. You're not Elisa." Goliath said. He jumped on his feet and turne on Elisa and pointed at her. "Who are you?"
"No!" Elisa yelled as the building start disappearing and she twirl. "No! Not now!" Elisa turns into Puck as he falls to his knees in front of Goliath and he put his hands to his face. "I was so close!" Puck sat up. "So close!"
"Puck! This is your doing?!" Goliath asked, pointing at Puck. Puck looked away from Goliath. "Why?"
"Bad Daddy Oberon's already begun The Gathering. Time for all us wayward children to toddle back to oh-so-boring Avalon." Puck sat on his butt as he put a hand on his face.
"And what has that to do with me?" Goliath asked.
"You have to ask?" Puck asked. He turned and stood to face Goliath. "Even Oberon's not above a little bribery. If I hand him the Phoenix Gate, he might just let me hang out with you mortals a while longer."
"So you needed to get it from me." Goliath said.
"Exact-a-mundo. Problem is, the rules say I can't take it from you. I needed you to fork it over." Puck said.
"And that's why you created that horrible dream?" Goliath said.
"Ooh! Was it a dream? Or a prophecy?" Puck said with a smirk.
"I must know." Goliath said.
"Mmm. Like I'd tell you. But I will warn you something Goliath. Protect Elizabeth when you get back. You'll loose her forever if you and your clan don't protect her with what's coming. Hate for your second in command to loose the woman he loves." Puck said. Goliath's eyes widen.
"What does this all have to do with Liz?" Goliath asked.
"You'll find out soon. Wake up!" Puck said.
Goliath woke up to Elisa over him.
"Wake up! Wake up, Goliath!" Elisa said. Goliath sat up.
"What happened to me?" Goliath asked.
"That's what we were wondering." Elisa said.
"A few seconds ago you were talking about getting home, and then you passed out and fell off the skiff." Angela said.
"No. We found Manhattan. But it was wrong, all wrong." Goliath said.
"Manhattan? I don't get it." Angela said.
"I did not either. Until it was nearly too late." Goliath said. He pulled out the Phoenix Gate out and stood up. "Puck may try his deception again. I can't chance him succeeding."
"Goliath? What's this all about?" Elisa asked. Goliath put his hand over the Phoenix Gate and started chanting the spell. A ball appears in the sky with a fireball. Goliath tosses the Phoenix Gate into the fireball and it disappears.
"Why did you do that?" Elisa asked.
"Without a mind to direct the Gate, it will be forever lost in time." Angela said.
"Yes, and beyond the reach of all who desire it." Goliath said, picking up the stick to stear the boat.
"Uh, you're gonna explain all this, right?" Elisa asked.
"I had a nightmare, Elisa. Now, we must get home." Goliath said. He used the pole to start moving the boat. "And make sure it does not come true." They disappear into the fog.
AN: Alright peeps. Whose ready to find out the secret I'm hiding with Elizabeth. Puck kind of hinted something. It will be next chapter. It will be worth the wait. Some have came close to guessing.
