Alpha Pact:
"Oof!" I exclaimed as pain radiated through the back of my head when I landed on the forest floor and I grimaced slightly as I closed my eyes against the healing ache.
"You're not trying." Aiden complained with a sigh as he sprawled on top of me and pinned my wrists over my head so that I couldn't move to retaliate against him. I opened my eyes at glare at the pompous smirk on his handsome face and I slowly let a sly smirk of my own spread across my lips as I wrapped my legs around his waist.
"Maybe it's working exactly like I want it to." I replied smugly as I rocked my hips into his slightly with a quirked eyebrow and he chuckled deeply as he leaned down to press his lips to mine passionately. My eyes closed on their own accord as I kissed him back with equal amounts of passion and our lips moved in sync together as I grind my hips against his causing my skin to prickle with anticipation. The butterflies in my stomach went wild as I opened my mouth eagerly to give him entrance and he immediately took the opening to connect our tongues together in a battle for dominance as I moaned in please at the back of my throat. Aiden slowly conjoined our fingers together as he stretched them out over my head with one hand and used his other hand to graze my side teasingly as I shivered slightly. I pulled my mouth away from his reluctantly as I panted slightly out breath and he gazed at me with undisguised lust in his chocolate brown eyes as I started pressing small kisses down his neck.
"Ah, ah!" he scolded me lightly with a chuckle as he pulled back so that I couldn't reach his skin with my lips and I groaned slightly in complaint as I leaned my head back against the ground with a pout. Aiden grinned at me in amusement as he leaned down to place a quick peck on my lips before he released my hand and started climbing off of me with a reluctant expression on his handsome face. "Come on. We're meant to be training."
"Sex is training. It's exercise. Especially, the way we do it." I counted easily as I reached out to grab the bottom of his shirt before he could move off of me and he laughed genuinely as he allowed me to pull him back down on top of me.
"I was thinking we'd practice your druid powers, but whatever." Aiden said nonchalantly as he leaned down to graze his nose against mine and I squealed excitedly as I pushed on his muscular chest for him to get off of me. He laughed at my enthusiasm as he stood up over me and he held his hand out for me to take as I smiled up at him. I placed my hand in his as he easily pulled me up to my feet and I wiped the dirt off of the back of my tights as Aiden walked over to grab a bottle of water from the edge of the clearing we were in.
"What are you thinking?" I asked him in a mixture of excitement and nervousness as I watched him open the plastic bottle and take a sip of the water before placing it on the ground in the middle of the clearing.
"I'm thinking, you need to learn how to control your elemental powers."
"I agree wholeheartedly. Problem is I don't know how to do that." I admitted to him with a small shrug of my shoulders as he walked over to stand behind me and I followed his movements as I quirked an eyebrow at him in question since he was the one supposedly running this training session. "Any ideas?"
"You need to get angry. You need to focus all of your anger on the water."
"I don't have any anger."
"You don't have any anger?" he asked me incredulously as he walked around to stand in front of me with a unbelieving frown and I shrugged at him with a quirked eyebrow as I frowned slightly. His chocolate brown eyes searched my expression quickly for some miniscule detail and he suddenly smirked with a mixture of confidence and malice as he placed his hands on my shoulders. "You don't have any anger? Really? Jennifer has your mother and Stiles' father waiting around to be ritually sacrificed. That doesn't make you angry? Even a little bit?"
"It makes me want to hit you." I spat nastily as I narrowed my eyes at him in annoyance and he chuckled huskily as he leaned in closer to me with sudden lust in his eyes.
"You know you like me." Aiden insisted in a low voice as he smirked cockily and I rolled my eyes at him in exasperation as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Oh please. I let you fool around with me out of pity."
"Pity? That's a funny way to say 'you like me'."
"This is getting me more irritated than angry." I told him drily with a quirked eyebrow as I pursed my lips and he laughed genuinely as he stepped back with his hands held up in mock surrender. "I thought you were meant to be helping me practice control over the elements."
"You need to get angry. Really angry. Close your eyes." he ordered me firmly as he handsome face became completely serious and I sighed slightly as I closed my eyes like he told me to. I felt his hand softly graze against my hip as he strolled to stand behind me and rested his hands on my waist as he leaned his chin on my shoulder. "The Darach is minutes away from killing your mother and Sheriff Stilinski, the man you think of as a father. Jennifer has them tied up somewhere. Alone. Stiles has already lost one parent, are you going to let him lose another? If they die, you and Scott will be all alone. Where's your dad? You've never mentioned him." he murmured softly with a hard edge in his voice as I tensed at his words and I felt blindly fury slowly building in my veins as I squeezed my eyes shut tighter. "Scott might die going up against her. What are you going to do then? Stiles is just human. He doesn't stand a chance against a supernatural. How many people that you love are going to die just because you can't control your powers? Your mother? Scott? Stiles? Lydia? Allison? Isaac? Derek?" he asked viciously as his lips grazed the shell of my ear and I clenched my hands into fists at my side as I seethed at the truth behind his words.
"Stop." I begged in whisper as I shook my head slightly and my voice wavered slightly as I swallowed pass the lump in my throat. Anger flooded through my veins as I pressed my lips into a straight line and my skin prickled like it had blistered from being burned but I tried my best to ignore the sensation.
"Why? Because you know it's true? You can feel that anger, can't you?"
"Yes." I hissed through clenched teeth as the ground started to shake slightly underneath my feet and I gasped in surprise as my eyes flew open.
"Take a deep breath, Sophie. Control it. Use an anchor." Aiden said in a steady voice that faltered slightly as he tightened his grip on my hips and I nodded shakily as I took a deep breath to calm my frayed nerves. I closed my eyes once more as the mental image of my twin brother popped into my mind and I let out a deep breath as I concentrated on Scott's face to keep my grounded.
Focus, Sophie. Stay in control, Scott's voice drifted into my mind faintly as I pictured what I wanted to happen and the ground beneath my feet stopped shaking as I focused.
"That's good. That's good, Sophie. Now, focus on the water." The Alpha behind me murmured quietly in a proud voice as he squeezed my hip affectionately and I nodded slightly as I tried to picture the water rising out of the plastic bottle in my mind's eye. "Sophie…Open your eyes." He whispered in an awe filled voice as he released my hips and I slowly opened my eyes with a small frown on my lips.
"Oh my god." I murmured in amazement when I saw that the water inside the bottle had risen out of the plastic and had formed a ball of clear liquid that float at eye-level. A grin spread across my lips as I laughed giddily at my achievement and I covered my mouth with both hands as I stared at the suspended water ball. Tears sprung into my eyes as I blinked furiously in astonishment and I heard Aiden chuckle softly from behind me as I stepped slowly towards the sphere. "I did that…Oh, my god. I did that!"
"Yes, you did." Aiden agreed happily with an amused grin as I turned around to look at him and pointed proudly at the floating ball as I uncovered my mouth to reveal a matching smile. I bounced slightly on my feet as I laughed excitedly as my triumph and I threw myself into Aiden's strong arm as he caught my instinctively. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he laughed genuinely in enjoyment and he spun us around in a circle as I clung to him tightly.
I could hear the distinct sound of running footsteps as the twins chased Morrell through the forest and I walked leisurely with Scott and Deucalion behind them. I crossed my arms over my chest with a sigh as I slowly my pace so that I was slightly behind the other two and I tilted my head to the side when I caught sight of firefly ahead as we paused in the middle of a clearing.
"It's a firefly." Scott told the blind Alpha as he looked at the firefly in the distance and I frowned to myself as I strolled forward to stand next to my brother.
"Unusual for this region." Deucalion said calmly as he folded his hands on top of his cane and Scott frowned in confusion as he glanced over his shoulder at me.
"California fireflies aren't bio-luminescent. They don't glow." I added absently as I narrowed my eyes at the insect knowingly and Deucalion hummed in agreement as I sighed. "It's because of Jennifer, isn't it? Just before all this started, a deer crashed into Lydia's car. The cats went crazy at the animal clinic. Birds flew into the high school. That was all her."
"They say animals can sense natural disasters when they're about to happen. Maybe they can sense supernatural ones as well."
"Does she scare you?" Scott asked him softly as he tilted his head to the side and I bit my lower lip gently as I waited impatiently for the Alpha's answer.
"She concerns me if she's willing to kill that many innocent people for her cause, people like your mother and Stiles' father."
"Are you willing to kill innocent people?"
"I'll kill any living thing that gets in my way." Deucalion admitted nonchalantly with an almost savage undertone and I shared a slightly freaked out look with Scott as he slipped his hand into mine reassuringly. The Alpha started walking out of the clearing slowly with a sly smirk on his lips and I squeezed Scott's hand tightly as we silently followed him through the forest.
"Sophie…." I heard the familiar voice of Marin Morrell whisper through the wind and I froze slightly causing Scott to look at me in confusion but I just shook my head at him before continuing forward. "They're gaining on me…" Marin whispered almost desperately as we walked past the tree line into another moonlit clearing and I saw Marin throw handful of Mountain Ash powder into the air so that it fell down into a perfect circle around her. Ethan and Aiden crashed into the invisible barrier created by the circle and were thrown several feet back as they landed on the ground. Kali came running out of the forest on the other side of the clearing and the Alpha's formed a loose circle around Marin as Scott, Deucalion and I approached them.
"How did you know, Marin, that we'd come for you?" Deucalion asked the emissary calmly as he came to a stop outside the Mountain Ash circle and her gaze flickered to me briefly as she held her chin up in the air defiantly.
"Because Jennifer and I are the same. And I know you've always been suspicious of us, of what we can do. I'd be careful, Sophie. it may you that's hunted down next." Marin declared in a calm voice that reminded me greatly of her brother as she stared pointedly at the leader of the Alpha pack.
"With good reason. We know you sent that girl... the one who helped Isaac." Kali taunted her with a vicious smirk on her lips as she circled Marin like she was prey and I frowned slightly as I remembered what Isaac had said about the girl that had saved him that night.
"What was her name?" Deucalion asked in a knowing voice as he smirked at her and I felt Scott squeeze my hand slightly as he looked between the two.
"Braeden. And I sent her to do what I've always done... maintain balance." Marin said defensibly as she narrowed her eyes at the Alpha in front of her and Deucalion ignored her accusation as he stepped forwards one step.
"What do you know about Jennifer?"
"Nothing more than you know. This isn't you, Scott, Sophie. Go back to your friends."
"They can decide what's right for themselves."
"Not without all the information. Have you told him everything you've done? How you've piled up bodies in a narcissistically psychotic effort to form your perfect pack? Bodies that include Ennis, by the way. My brother saved him. He was alive when Deucalion went in to see him. He wants you to go after Derek, Kali, to force his decision. If Derek joins the pack, it paves the way for Scott." Marin said in a firm voice as she looked at each member of the Alpha pack individually and I noticed them all flinched at the sound of Ennis' name.
"The lies people will tell when they're begging for their life." Deucalion said dismissively but I narrowed my eyes at him because I knew that Marin was telling the truth about what happened to Ennis.
"Ask Sophie. I'm sure she was my brother's first phone call." She told the other Alpha's in the same calm voice as she met each of their glares straight on and I stood up straighter when everyone's gaze snapped over to me. I opened my mouth to agree with her but suddenly, Deucalion's sharp blade tipped cane was thrown through the air and lodged itself in Marin's left shoulder as she stumbled backwards. I gasped in surprise as her mouth fell open in surprise and her foot broke the Mountain Ash circle as she clasped her hands around the cane. Kali, Aiden and Ethan immediately started to move forward to attack her but I rushed towards her as quickly as I could and I crouched down next to her as I turned my head to glare at the Alpha's.
"Hey, back off." I snapped at them in a threatening tone as they all stopped approaching and I turned back to Marin with a small frown on my lips. She panted for breath as I bit my lower lip nervously and I wrapped my hands around the cane's thin staff as I quickly pulled it out of her shoulder. She let out a small gasp of pain as she closed her eyes momentarily and I pressed my hands over her chest to stop the bleeding as I looked down at her seriously. "I'm not going to let them kill you. But if you know something, if you know where they are..."
"The Nemeton... You find that, you'll find Jennifer. Find the Nemeton." Marin insisted breathless as she placed her hands over mine and stared meaningfully into my eyes as she squeezed gently.
"There's a Nemeton here?" I asked frantically as I searched her face for any lies but all I could see was pain and honesty in her expression as she nodded seriously. I knew from my research that a Nemeton was a sacred meeting place consecrated by druids containing powerful magic that was fuelled by ritual sacrifices. I glanced over my shoulder at the werewolves standing behind me as they watched us with a mixture of suspicion, wariness and confusion. I bit my lower lip as I turned back to Marin with a determined expression and I leaned down to her ear so that I whisper low enough that no one would hear even with their supernatural hearing. "When you can, run. Understand?"
"Got it." she whispered back almost inaudibly as she nodded subtly in understanding and I placed my hands over her wound as the veins in my hands darkened in like river of black ink. My hands started to tingle slightly as I continued to heal the stab wound and she gasped slightly in relief as her skin knitted back together. I concentrated on what I wanted to happen as I felt my eyes change colour to what I assumed was purple and the loose dirt surrounding us immediately flew into the eyes of the Alpha's so that it blocked their view. Marin quickly climbed to her feet as the werewolves grunted in surprise and I watched her sprint out of the clearing with a satisfied smirk on my lips. The dirt around the clear fell back down to the ground as I climbed to my feet and Kali immediately lurched forward to grab my arm roughly with a snarl escaping her lips. I noticed Aiden, Ethan and Scott all tense at the contact but I shook my head subtly as I glared at the female Alpha defiantly.
"Where'd she go?" Kali asked in a demand as she flashed her bright red eyes at me threateningly and I growled lowly as I flashed my purple eyes at her with a matching rage.
"I have no idea." I hissed honestly as I ripped my arm from her grasp easily and she moved to grab me once more when Deucalion cleared his throat gently in amusement.
"Come now, girls. No need for violence." Deucalion said calmly as Kali allowed her eyes to change back to normal without breaking eye contact with me and I blinked once to change my eyes back to their normal dark brown. I narrowed my eyes at Kali as I slowly walked around her without looking away because I didn't want to be the first one to back down and she lifted her chin slightly as she watched me stroll over to stand next to Scott. Everyone was looking in between Kali and me as though it was an interesting tennis match that was taking place. The sound of Scott's phone beeping in his pants pocket broke the tense silence that had taken over and he scrambled for his phone as I looked over at him with a quirked eyebrow.
"Stiles says that they are looking for the Nemeton and they might have a way to find it but they need Sophie and me." Scott informed us with a frown on his lips as he read the text on the phone screen and Deucalion hummed in the back of his throat as he folded his hands over the top of his cane.
"Well, none of us are aware of its location. Let us know when you've found it."
"You're letting us go?"
"You aren't being held captive, Scott. Both you and Sophia are free to come and go as you please."
"Well, I please to go." I told them as I firmly as I retied my long brunette hair into a ponytail and Scott nodded in agreement as he slipped his hand into mine supportively. I glanced over my shoulder at the Alpha twin's quickly as Scott and I started walking out of the clearing but I turned back around to face the front as we began running through the forest with our hands still clasped together. we came to the end of an access road in the edge of the preserve as we slowed down to a walk and I saw Stiles and Deaton leaning against Stiles' familiar beat up light blue jeep with the headlights on.
"How'd you guys find out?" Scott asked them curiously as we slowly approached them and Stiles jumped slightly in surprise as he spun his head around to look at us with wide eyes. Deaton smirked in amusement at the human's reaction as he removed his hands from his pockets and Stiles' slowly relaxed as he walked forward a few feet.
"Lydia. You?" Stiles asked us as he crossed his arms over his chest with a frown and then quickly uncrossed his arms again as he shifted nervously on his feet.
"Morrell. None of the other Alphas know where it is either."
"So if this works, are you gonna tell them?"
"We can't stop Jennifer without them."
"How about we concentrate on finding our parents first?" I suggested in irritation as I looked between them with a quirked eyebrow and they both nodded in agreement with sheepish expressions.
'What's the plan?" Scott asked Deaton anxiously as he tightened his grip on my hand and I shifted slightly so that I was closer to his side as I placed a hand on his arm comfortingly.
"Essentially, you or Sophie, Allison, and Stiles need to be surrogate sacrifices for your parents." Deaton explained calmly with a blank expression on his face as he looked between the three of us and I felt my eyes widened as I swallowed thickly.
"We die for them?"
"But he can bring us back. You can... you can bring us back, right?" Stiles asked for clarification as he turned to look at the emissary nervously and I bit my lower lip as I waited anxiously for his answer because I knew that something like this would have massive ramifications.
"You remember the part where I said it was dangerous? If it goes right, the three of you will be dead for a few seconds, but there's something else you need to think about. This is a dangerous thing for more reasons than one. You'll be giving power back to the Nemeton, a place that hasn't had power for a long time. This kind of power is like a magnet. It attracts the supernatural, the kind of things that a family like the Argents can fill the pages of a bestiary with. It will draw them here, like a beacon." Deaton informed us in a slightly tense voice as he placed his hands in his pants pockets and I closed my eyes for a moment as tears filled my eyes.
"Doesn't sound any worse than anything we've already seen."
"You'd be surprised at what we have yet to see." I told them sagely as they turned to look at me with wide eyes and I glanced at them sadly before looking back at my mentor nervously. "Is that it?"
"No. It'll also have an effect on the three of you. You won't be able to see it, but you'll feel it every day for the rest of your lives. It'll be a kind of a darkness around your heart, and permanent, like a scar." He said gravely as he met each of our gazes in turn with honesty in his eyes and I felt my heart clenched with something akin to sorrow.
"Like a tattoo." Scott murmured quietly with a small nod of his head and Deaton hummed in agreement as he leaned back against the hood of the jeep.
"Well, you already have a tattoo so I'm doing it." I declared firmly as I crossed my arms over my chest and turned my body to face Scott with a raised eyebrow.
"Sophie…"
"No! Come on, Scott! You take all the risks. Do you know how awful it is to just sit and wait around while you go put your life on the line all the time? How it feels to wonder if you're going to survive? You're such a martyr! Just let me do this. Let me know without a doubt that you're safe this time." I begged him as tears filled my eyes immediately when I looked into my brothers dark brown eyes and I clasped both his hands in mine as a single tear leaked from my eye before I wiped it away roughly with the back of my hand.
"Sophie…" Deaton said to us sadly as he walked over to stand next to us with a frown on his face and I stared at Scott pleadingly for another moment before turning to look at Alan. "You have to remember that you're part Druid. The darkness that comes from the sacrifice might end up leading you down the wrong path, making you a Darach."
"Sophie, I can't let you do this." Scott insisted firmly as my face dropped with disappointment and he forcibly turned my body so that I was facing him as I sniffled slightly with tears in my eyes. he cupped my face with his hands as I met his eyes with tears streaming down my cheeks and I leaned my forehead against with my eyes closed as I shook my head in denial.
"I can't lose you, Scott." I murmured quietly as he wrapped his arms around my waist and I hugged my brother tightly as I cried into his shoulder.
"You're not going to lose me. I promise, okay? I promise, Sophie."
I folded my arms over my chest as I shifted anxiously on my feet and I looked over at the three large metal tubs filled with a mixture of ice water an mistletoe that were waiting in the middle of the examination room at the animal clinic.
"All right. What did you bring?" Deaton asked Stiles calmly as he looked over at the nervous human boy and I glanced over at my friend curiously as he pulled something out of his pants pocket with a shaky hand.
"Um, I got my dad's badge. Jennifer kind of crushed it in her hand, so I tried hammering it out a bit. Still doesn't look great." Stiles informed us quietly as his voice trembled slightly with grief and I reached out to grasp his hand in mine with a small smile on my lips as he glanced over at me.
"Well, it doesn't need to look good if it has meaning."
"Is that an actual silver bullet?" Isaac asked Allison curiously as he looked over at her with a quirked eyebrow from where he was sitting on the counter at the edge of the room and Allison glanced at him from where she was standing against the same counter as she rolled the bullet in her nimble fingers.
"My dad made it. It's kind of a ceremonial thing. When one of us finishes learning all the skills to be a hunter, we forge a silver bullet as a testament to the code." The young huntress explained softly as she licked her lip nervously with teary eyes and there was a moment of silence as everyone looked at the ground.
"Uh, our dad got our mom this watch when she first got hired at the hospital. She used to say it was the only thing in their marriage that ever worked." Scott said to the group as he took mom's watch out of his pants pocket and I chuckled humourlessly at the mention of our father as I leaned my head back against the wall.
"Okay, the three of you will get in. The others will hold you down until you're essentially... Well, dead. But it's not just someone to hold you under. It needs to be someone who can pull you back, someone that has a strong connection to you, a kind of emotional tether." Deaton explained calmly in a soft voice as we all looked at one another wondering who was going to be with who and Lydia smiled slightly at Allison as she started moving across the room. "Lydia... You go with Stiles." he continued in a knowing voice as the strawberry blonde froze in surprise and Stiles glanced down at the ground as Lydia moved to stand next to him.
"Are you sure? I mean, Scott and I both have to go under. I figured Sophie would be with Scott instead of me." Allison stated in confusion as she looked over at Deaton with a frown and I chuckled slightly in realisation as I pushed myself off of the wall. Allison suddenly looked over to where Isaac was now standing with a shocked expression and in an unspoken exchange they realized that Isaac was going act as her emotional tether to the world of the living.
"It's okay." Scott told them in a strained voice as they looked over at him guiltily and I patted my brother's arm soothingly as I strolled passed him. I looked over at Isaac with a quirked eyebrow in question as he frowned at me in confusion but I just stared at him and he rolled his steely blue eyes as he nodded in answer to my silent question.
"Come on, Lahey." I encouraged the Beta with a smirk on my lips as I stopped in the middle of the room and he sighed knowingly as he walked over to stand in front of me with a grimace. I smirked as I remembered the promise I had made him at the recital at the school moments before all hell broke loose. Everyone watched us with confused frowns as Isaac stretched his neck to the side and I licked my lower lip in anticipation as he nodded that he was ready.
"Oh!" Scott, Allison and Stiles all exclaimed in surprise when I punched Isaac square in the face and he grunted in pain as he sprawled onto the floor at my feet.
"Ah, that hurt." Isaac murmured as I stretched my hand out to help him up and he clasped my hand as I pulled him to his feet easily.
"Well, it was meant to, sweetie." I reminded him with a smirk as I pressed a kiss to his bruised cheek and he chuckled in amusement as he rubbed his healing skin with a smile. I noticed everyone staring at us incredulously as I walked back over to stand against the wall and Isaac walked back over to stand next to Allison. "Oh, don't worry. He knows what it was for."
"Everyone ready?" Deaton asked in slight amusement as he gestured towards the metal tubs of ice water in the middle of the room and everyone nodded sagely as the playful atmosphere evaporated. I frowned slightly as I walked over to where Scott was standing anxiously and I slipped my hand into his as he looked over at me with a small reassuring smile on his lips.
"Together?" I asked him softly as I nodded my head towards the tub in the middle of the three and he chuckled quietly as he ducked his head in amusement.
"Together." he agreed instantly as he squeezed my hand gently with his and I tried to smile comfortingly as we walked towards the metal tub together. I glanced over to where Lydia was helping Stiles into his tub with a concerned frown and then over to where Isaac was hovering over Allison on the over side of the room. I turned my attention back to Scott as he stepped into the freezing cold water and he slowly sat down as he hissed in pain at the contact to the icy water. I stood at the head of the tub anxiously as Stiles and Allison both sunk down into their tubs with chattering teeth and shivers racking all three of their bodies.
"By the way, if I don't make it back and you do, you should probably know something. Your dad's in town." Stiles informed us through chattering teeth as he looked over at Scott and I with sympathetic eyes and I froze in surprise as I looked over at the human but I just shook my head as I turned my attention back to Scott. I didn't have time to deal with the fact that my father had decided that now was the perfect time to make an appearance. Deaton nodded at us sagely as I placed my hands on Scott's shoulder gently and he smiled up at me shakily as he shivered furiously. I smiled back at him with tears in my eyes as I slowly pushed down on his shoulders until my hands descended into the freezing cold water and I gasped silently at the cold as my hands turned numb. I blinked away tears as I watched my twin brother's whole body immerse in the water and small air bubbles appeared at the top of the water as I held him under. Scott's eyes flew open to reveal glowing amber irises as I cried silently to myself without looking away from my brother's lifeless face.
