Illuminated:

"So when did you get there?" dad asked us sternly as he leaned against the desk with his arms crossed over his chest and I sighed heavily as I glanced at Sheriff Stilinski who was seating behind the desk. Scott, Stiles, Kira, Lydia and I had been brought down to the police station to be interviewed after the mess at the power substation.

"At the same time." Stiles answered calmly with a small nod of his head and my lips twitched in amusement from my spot next to Lydia as I crossed my ankles.

"At the same time as who?"

"At the same time as me." Scott said as though it was obvious with a slight frown and Stiles pointed at his friend as I tapped my finger against the arm of my chair.

"By coincidence?"

"What do you mean coincidence?" Stiles asked dad with a mock confused frown on his lips as he leaned back on the couch he was sharing with Scott and Kira.

"That's what I'm asking you. The two of you arrived at the same time. Was that coincidence?" Dad asked tiredly in an irritated voice as he looked between all of us and I pursed my lips in confusion as I shared a look with Lydia.

"Are you asking me?" Scott asked him in mock confusion as he pointed a finger at himself and he looked over at dad with an expectant expression.

"I think he's asking me." Stiles supplied confidently as he leaned forward to look at Scott and I bit the inside of my cheek to keep myself from laughing.

"Maybe he's asking me." I suggested helpfully as I raised my hand up to my shoulder and Stiles pointed at me with a considering expression as Scott nodded in agreement.

"I think he's asking the all of you." Lydia said in a slightly perplexed voice as she tilted her head to the side and I hummed in acknowledgement to she smirked at me discreetly.

"Okay, let me answer the questions." Dad interrupted sternly as we all snapped our heads up to look at him innocently at his mistake and he sighed to himself as I pressed my lips together to keep from giggling. "Let me ask the questions. Just so I have this absolutely clear. Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school. Someone left him a coded message on the blackboard telling him to kill Kira. Then Barrow took Kira to a power substation and tied her up with the intent of electrocuting her, which blacked out the entire town."

"Sounds about right." Stiles said with a nod as he pointed a finger at my father and winked at him as though they were in on a secret together.

"How did you know he'd take her to a power station?"

"Well, 'cause he was an electrical engineer. So where else would he take her?"

"That's one hell of a deduction there, Stiles."

"Yeah, what can I say? I take after my pops. He's in law enforcement." Stiles reminded him jokingly as he pointed over at John with a wink and the Sheriff snorted in amusement before covering it up with a fake cough when dad looked over at him.

"Stiles, just, uh...Just answer the man." John ordered affectionately as he gave his son a pointed look and Stiles sighed with a nod as he turned his attention back to my father.

"We made a good guess."

"What were the two of you doing?" dad asked Scott and Kira bluntly as he looked over at them and I leaned forward on my seat as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Eating pizza." Kira answered him instantly at the same time that Scott stated, "Eating sushi."

"Eating sushi." Kira corrected herself after glancing over at my brother at the same time that Scott said, "Eating pizza."

"Eating sushi and pizza." They both said slowly in unison as we all stared at them in amusement except for dad who looked about ready to kill them.

"You had sushi? Was it any good?" I asked my brother with a quirked eyebrow as I leaned forward in interest and he turned to look at me with a small smile playing on his lips.

"The pizza was better." Scott replied with a shrug of his shoulder as he grinned at me and I rolled my eye playfully as I fell back against my seat.

"Behemoth."

"Sophie, where were you?" dad asked me curiously as he looked over at me sternly and I licked my lips nervously as I tapped my foot anxiously.

"Where was I when?" I asked him with a faux-confused frown on my lips as I glanced over at the others and then back over at dad as he sighed in exasperation.

"Where were you before you were at the substation?"

"I was where I was."

"And where was that?"

"At what time exactly? Because this morning I was at the house, and then I was in my car, and then I was at school…"

"Where were you in between school and turning up at the power station?!" he asked me in a slightly raised voice as he narrowed his eyes at me and Stiles and Scott were holding back laughter as they covered their mouths with their hands.

"Oh!" I exclaimed in mock-realisation as I nodded in understanding and I folded my clasped hands over my crossed knees as I tilted my head to the side. "I was with a friend. And then Lydia texted me to meet her and Stiles at the school."

"You believe this?" Dad asked John as he turned his head around to look at the sheriff and I sighed in relief that the spotlight was off of me as I relaxed back into my seat.

"To be honest, I haven't believed a word Stiles has said since he learned how to speak. But I think these kids found themselves in the right place at the right time and that girl sitting there is very lucky for it." John said honestly as he pointed a finger over at where Kira was sitting next to Scott on the couch and I couldn't help the small snicker that escaped me as Stiles shrugged innocently at his father's words.

"Kira, is that how you remember it?" dad asked her politely with an almost challenging tone in his voice and she blinked at him in surprise at being acknowledged as Lydia, Stiles, Scott and I all leaned forward to look at her expectantly.

"Yes." Kira answered demurely as she glanced quickly at Scott and then turned back to face the front with her hands folded in front of her. "Could I get my phone back now?"

"Sorry, but no. Kira, a deputy is going to take you home. But we'll need you to fill out some paperwork first." Dad stated calmly as he pushed off of the desk and we all stood up from our chairs as he started walking towards the door. John ushered Stiles and Lydia down the hallway as a deputy lead Kira and dad put his arm out to stop Scott and I from waking past him after our friends. "Sophie, Scott... I don't know why you guys are lying. Or why Stilinski is content to listen to this crap. But try and remember something. If half this story about Barrow is true, then not only did someone help set him loose, but he was a pawn in their little game. A mass murderer is bad enough. A mass murderer being controlled by someone? Far worse."

I was walked down the crowded school hallway in a Vero Moda Layered Sleeveless Blouse, ONLY Lace Denim Shorts and Faux Leather Strap Cork Wedges with my hair down in loose waves when I felt someone grab me around the waist from behind. Strong arms wrapped around my waist as I made a startled noise in the back of my throat and I heard Aiden's familiar chuckle in my ear as he pressed a kiss to the side of my neck.

"Aiden!" I scolded him playfully as I placed my arms over his with a laugh and he pulled me to the side of the hallway so that we weren't in the middle of the crowd. He spun me around in his arms as I giggled at the sudden move and he smiled at me genuinely as he pushed me back against the metal lockers. "Good morning."

"Good morning." Aiden greeted me softly with a smirk as he leaned down to press his lips against mine passionately and I moaned in pleasure as I wrapped my arms around his neck to pull him closer. He dipped his head down to pepper kisses down my throat as I giggled at the tickling sensation and I felt him grin against my skin as I leaned my head back against the cold metal lockers.

"Ex-excuse me?" a familiar voice asked us timidly as Aiden groaned against my neck and I pouted slightly at the loss of contact as he lifted his head. I pushed on his shoulder gently as he sighed heavily and moved to the side with his arm still wrapped around my waist.

"Hi, Kira!" I greeted her brightly with a smile as she stood awkwardly in the middle of the hallway and she shifted uncomfortably on her feet as she tucked a strand of jet black hair behind her ear. "What's up?"

"Um, you're kind of in front of my locker."

"Oh! Sorry." I apologised instantly with a grimace as I stepped out of the way and she smiled at me gratefully as she stepped forward to open the locker door. Aiden wrapped both arms around my waist from behind as I leaned into his chest and Kira glanced over at us with a shy smile on her lips as she exchanged her books. "Do you know when you're going to get your phone back?"

"Uh, no. You're dad just said it was evidence." She told me with a frown as she shot a glance at Aiden from the corner of her eye and I realised that it was meant to be secret that she'd been kidnapped by Barrow last night.

"Don't worry about Aiden. He won't repeat anything about this."

"You mean about how she was kidnapped by a psychopathic serial killer?" Aiden asked sarcastically as he stepped backwards so that he was leaning against the row of lockers and I shot him an amused look as he chuckled at himself.

"Ignore him. I'm just glad that you're okay. You are okay, right? Like mentally? Because being kidnapped can be stressful. I remember when I was held hostage by a serial killer overnight in the school, or when I was held hostage by a serial killer at the police station, I spent the whole next day at the spa getting massages and main-pedi's. It was very relaxing. The massages, not the hostage situations."

"You've been held hostage twice?" Kira asked me in shock as she stared at me incredulously and I nodded with a bright smile as Aiden chuckled at my nonchalance.

"And in heels. I'm kinda badass." I said with a smirk on my lips as I shrugged my shoulders and she breathed out a small laugh as she blinked at me in bewilderment.

"I think you're frightening her." Aiden mock whispered loudly to me with a smirk on his lips and I laughed lightly at him as Kira blushed in embarrassment with a shaky chuckle.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to stare or anything. I've just nothing met anyone who's been held hostage more than once. Or even once. It's not like a common occurrence." She defended herself quietly with a small laugh escaping her and I nodded seriously in agreement as I pursed my lips together to keep from laughing. "So, um, is this your boyfriend?"

"No." I answered calmly with a small shake of my head at the same time that Aiden said, "Yes."

"Um…"

"No. We aren't together." I stated firmly with a small frown on my lips as I turned my body to look at Aiden and he crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned his shoulder against the locker with a smirk.

"Come on, Sophie. When was the last time you slept with someone else?" he asked me curiously with a knowingly glint in his chocolate brown eyes and I scoffed at him slightly as I tried to remember the answer to his question.

"Oh, god! I haven't slept with anyone else since school came back." I said in realisation with a horrified expression on my face and Aiden chuckled at me as he nodded in agreement.

"See? We're together."

"No, we aren't. Just because I haven't slept with anyone else doesn't mean we're together, Aiden."

"It does if you don't want to sleep with anyone else. I know I don't. Do you?" he asked me pointedly with a small smile on his lips as he cocked an eyebrow and I stared at him blankly for a moment as I shifted uncomfortably on my feet.

"Amazing sex doesn't make a relationship." I said sharply after a tense moment of silence as I shook my head defiantly and he studied my face for a second longer before pushing himself off of the lockers.

"Okay, then. No more sex."

"Wait! What?"

"You're right. Amazing sex doesn't make a relationship, so no more sex until you admit we're together." Aiden told me firmly as he started walking backwards down the hallway with a smirk plastered on his lips and I gaped at him uncomprehendingly as I blinked multiple times in shock. He held his arms out to the side with a smug grin as other students walked around him and I slumped against the lockers with an unbelieving frown as he turned around to walk away.

"I am so sorry." Kira said frantically as she closed her locker door with a frown and I turned to face her with a small smile because she looked practically distraught. "I am such an idiot. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm so sorry. God, I have such a big mouth."

"Kira, its fine. It probably would've happened eventually anyway." I told her warmly as I pushed myself off of the lockers with a smile and she looked down at the ground miserably like she had just killed my puppy instead of instigated a fight. "Kira, seriously, it's fine. Aiden and I were heading towards the conversation for weeks. You didn't do anything."

"Okay. Still, I'm really sorry."

"I just can't believe he's withholding sex! But, it's fine. It's fine because he is going to crack before I do." I said firmly more to myself than to her as I offered her a tight smile and she smiled back a little nervously as I walked determinedly towards my next class. I walked into the biology lab as I tossed my hair over my shoulder and I waved my fingers at Danny and Lydia as I sat down at the station in front of them. I crossed my ankles comfortably as Aiden walked into the room and my eyes narrowed as he sat down next to me with a smirk on his lips. I ignored pointedly ignored him as I turned around to look at Lydia and I saw her mother walking down the aisle from a stack of paper's in her hand. Eleanor had always treated me like a second daughter whenever I stayed over at the Martin's house and she was much like a cool aunt or older sister that I never had.

"Girls, since this is my first class and I haven't taught in five years, I just want to remind you of one thing. Try not to embarrass me." Eleanor said to us both sweetly with a smile on her lips as she glanced between the two of us and Lydia quirked an eyebrow at her mother as I pursed my lips to stop from giggling.

"You should've thought about that before wearing those shoes." Lydia said pointedly in the same sweet tone of voice as she glanced down at her mother's shoes teasingly and Eleanor's eyes went wide in horror as she looked down at her heels before she realised her daughter was kidding.

"Lydia!" I scolded her lightly as I reached over to slap her arm lightly and she shrugged innocently as Eleanor grinned at the two of us brightly. "Ignore her, Elle. You're like a high school boy's walking fantasy."

"Love you both." Eleanor told us warmly as she placed a piece of paper on Lydia's desk and then stepped forward to place one on my table.

"Love you, too." Lydia and I chirped in unison with matching smiles as I turned back around to face the front and

"Why's Lydia's mom teaching biology?" Aiden asked me softly as he leaned forward with his elbows on the top of the desk and I sighed slightly as I tilted my head to the side with my lips pursed together.

"Because Mr. Harris used to teach biology. Until his new occupation... Human sacrifice." I explained with a hint of bitterness in my voice as I peeked at him from the corner of my eye and he smiled at me as I bit down on my lower lip to keep from smiling back at him.

"What? I didn't kill him." he said in amusement as he shifted so that his knee hit mine under the table and I rolled my eyes at him as I reached for my biology textbook. "Why won't you admit we're together?"

"The other night, I helped save someone's life. That felt really good. And I look at you, and all I can think is that you helped kill Boyd. You're not just a bad boy, Aiden. You're a bad guy. And I don't want to be with the bad guys." I said softly with a small frown on my lips as I looked at him earnestly and he frowned at me as he glanced down at the table top like it was the most interesting thing on the planet. "What are we going to do? Walk down the halls holding hands? Go to the movies? We aren't those people. We're never going to be those people. "

"I don't want to be those people. I want to be us." he admitted quietly as he slipped his hand into mine underneath the table and I squeezed it gently as he regarded me with pure affection in his chocolate brown eyes.

"You don't even know me, Aiden. What's my favourite colour? If I could spend a year abroad, where would I go? What's my favourite animal? I know that I'm not a normal teenage girl, but I want to be with someone who knows me. Someone who appreciates me for who I am. The good and the bad." I told him gently in a whisper as I let go of his hand and turned my attention back to the front of the classroom so that I didn't have to see the forlorn expression on his handsome face.

"Why are we doing this again?" I asked Stiles in exasperation as I placed my feet up on the dashboard of his jeep and he made a pained noise in the back his throat as he stared at my shoes on his beloved car. The two of us were waiting outside the police station for Scott to show up with Kira because he had asked us to help break into the station so that they could delete some photos from her phone. Apparently, whenever she took a photo of herself with the flash on it showed an orange flame-like aura encompassing her and I knew that it was a side effect of her being a Kitsune even if she didn't.

"Because Scott asked us to and he's your brother and my best friend and this is what you do for friends and family." Stiles recited in a bored tone as he reached over to push my feet off the dashboard and I rolled my eyes at him as I tucked my bare feet underneath me.

"I'm meant to be at a party right now."

"Danny's?"

"Yep."

"I thought he had to cancel it?"

"He thought he was going to have to but then someone helped him find a new location for the party." I explained to him absently as I tapped my finger on my thigh and he nodded slowly as he puffed out his cheeks.

"I don't think Danny likes me. He didn't tell me that the party had been moved." Stiles complained in a whiny voice as he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and I turned my head to look at him in a mixture of pity and amusement as I chuckled softly. "Oh, shut up."

"I didn't say anything!"

"You laughed!"

"That wasn't a laugh. It was more like a giggle." I corrected him innocently as I held my fingers an inch apart and he grimaced at me sarcastically as I smiled at him brightly. I saw Scott's motorbike pulling into the alley behind the police station where we were parked and I leaned forward in my seat as Stiles grabbed the key cards out of the backseat of the jeep. Scott and Kira jogged over to the driers side of the jeep as Stiles rolled down the window and I leaned over towards that side as my brother and Kira stopped near the window.

"Okay, this one will get you into all of the perimeter doors, this one into the evidence room, and this one's for my father's office." Stiles explained as he held up each key card for Scott to see which one was which and Scott took them from his friend as he looked down at them with a raised eyebrow.

"You didn't steal these, did you?" Scott asked him in a slightly apprehensive voice as he studied the cards and I bit my lip in amusement as Stiles blinked at him for a second before answering honestly.

"No. I cloned them using the RFID emulator."

"Is that worse than stealing?"

"It's smarter."

"Scott, can I ask you something?" Kira asked my brother shyly as he placed a hand on his arm and he glanced down at her hand as he nodded before leading her to the end of the alley.

"Okay, I'll just... Hm. Can you listen to them?" Stiles asked me hopefully as he spun around to look at me with wide eyes and I smirked at him slyly as I nodded in answer.

"Kira's asking Scott if he told us what was on her phone. Apparently, we think its naked photos." I told him briefly as I focused my hearing on their conversation and Stiles eyebrow shot up in surprise as a blush crept up his neck. We both acted like we were talking to one another as Scott and Kira came back over to the car and Stiles leaned his elbow on the open window as he faced the two outside of the jeep.

"Okay. So, now almost everybody's out dealing with the blackout. But there's always somebody at the front desk. There's Dispatch and usually a night shifter or two. You guys are gonna use the service door entrance by the dumpster. All right? Nobody uses it. Now, I'll text you if anyone comes out. But, Scott, if you get caught, I can't help you. My dad's under investigation for an impeachment because of your dad, so, if anything happens I will run and leave you both for dead."

"Got it. Thanks. Seriously, dude." Scott said sincerely as he looked at his best friend with earnest dark brown eyes and Stiles nodded back at him with a small smile on his lips.

"I'd ask my dad, but you know..."

"But our dad is a complete and total ass." I finished for him bluntly as I leaned across Stiles lap to stick my head out the window and Stiles huffed slightly as he pushed me back into the passenger seat. "Oh, Kira, sweetie, naked photos on your phone are such an amateur move. Polaroids."

"Uh... I – I, um…" Kira stuttered quietly in shock as I winked at her and Scott shot me an unamused look as he started leading her towards the police station. I smirked to myself as I leaned back in my seat and I ran a hand through my hair with sigh as I gazed out the window at nothing in particular.

"Why are you in such a bad moon?" Stiles asked me randomly after ten minutes of silence and I turned my head to look at him with a confused frown on my lips. "Oh, come on. You've been huffing and puffing since we got here. What's up, Sophie?"

"You don't want to know." I told him honestly as I turned my gaze back out the window and he groaned in annoyance as he hit the steering wheel with the heel of his hand.

"You're like a sister to me. Of course I wanted to know if something's bothering you."

"Stiles – "

"Tell me!"

"Fine!" I exclaimed in irritation as I turned my whole body around to look at him with a quirked eyebrow and he matched my position with an eager expression as he rubbed his hands together. "Okay, brother, Aiden refuses to have sex with me anymore."

"Urgh! Oh, god, Sophie! I didn't need to know that!" he squawked in disgust with a pained expression on his face as he covered his eyes and shook his head as though he could clear the image out of his mind.

"You're the one who wanted to know!" I reminded him in amusement as he rubbed his eyes with the heel of his hand and I cracked a small smile as I leaned back against the passenger seat. Stiles shook his head at me with a serious expression as he turned his attention out the windshield and I bit my lip to stop from laughing at him as I tucked my leg underneath me.

"Ah, hell." Stiles muttered under his breath as headlights appeared at the end of the alley we were hidden in and I swore to myself when I saw my father in the driver's seat of the car that had just stopped. Stiles quickly pulled out his phone as he sent a text to Scott and I bit the inside of my cheek nervously as I watched dad walk into the station. "Come on, Scott. Okay, I'm so going to regret this."

"Stiles!" I called out to him in shock as he scrambled out of the jeep quickly and I slumped back in my seat as I pinched the bridge of my nose. I could only hope that Stiles was smart enough to lie his ass off to distract my dad long enough for Scott and Kira to get out. I grabbed my phone out as I glared at the door Stiles had just disappeared through and I furiously texted my brother an angry text to get the hell out of there. I climbed out of the car with a frustrated sigh escaping my lips and I waked around to the front of the jeep as I shifted restlessly on my feet. I folded my arms over my stomach as I debated how much longer I was going to give them before I stormed into the police station to sae their asses. The service door swung open as Stiles ran outside into the alley breathlessly and I sighed in relief as he bent over with his hands on his knees.

"Oh, my god. Sophie, I hate your dad." I heard him muttered from the other side of the alley and I rolled my eyes at him with a small smile as I agreed with him. Stiles slowly jogged over to where I was waiting for him and I shook my head at him in exasperation as he leaned back against the hood of the jeep. Only seconds later, the door swung open again and Scott ran out first with a giggling Kira right behind him.

"We did it. All the pics deleted." Scott informed us with a grin as they jogged over to meet us at the jeep and I pushed myself off of the hood with a huff as I ran a hand through my hair.

"That was awesome! I mean, terrifying. Completely terrifying... But kind of awesome." Kira gushed excitedly with a bright smile as she bounced slightly on her feet and I couldn't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm as the boys smiled at her. "I've never done anything like that before. Have you?"

"Yeah, once or twice." Stiles admitted after a moment of silence where the three of us looked at each other and Kira made an impressed noised in the back of her throat as I grin at the understatement.

"So, I guess I should take you home." my brother said reluctantly to Kira as he started walking towards his motorbike and I could see the disappointment on both of their faces as she nodded in agreement.

"Or, you know, Danny's throwing a blackout party. And, maybe, just maybe, I have an outfit in the back of the jeep that I really want to throw in Aiden's face…" I trailed off with a hopeful smile on my lips as they turned back to look at me curiously and I turned to face Kira with a sly smirk as I quirked an eyebrow in question. "Hey, you wouldn't want to go to a party, would you, Kira?"

I had changed in Helmut Lang Halterneck Bralet, KRISP Neon Tribal Print Bodycon Mini Skirt and Converse All Star Hi's with my long brunette hair out in loose waves during the drive to Derek's loft. I was practically skipping towards the door with Scott, Stiles and Kira trailing after me because it had been far too long since I had been to a party. I could feel the vibrations from the DJ outside the loft as I approached the heavy sliding door and I grinned over my shoulder at the others as I opened it effortlessly.

"Derek can never know about this." I murmured to myself in delight as I stared at the mass of dancing teenagers in the middle of the loft and the blinding strobe lights pulsed manically as the different fluorescents glowed in the dark. "I just know that Derek is somehow going to blame me for this. To be fair, a group of scantily clad, glow-in-the-dark teens dancing to The Bloody Beetroots does scream, 'Sophie McCall'."

"Isn't Derek out of town? He'll never know." Stiles shouted over the music as we walked into the loft and I shrugged in reply with a smile as I spun around in a circle to the beat of the song. The electronic music pulsed through my veins as I lost myself in the beat and danced freely with the strangers around me as I laughed at absolutely nothing. It was nice to just act like a teenager for a moment and not have to worry about the supernatural. After five minutes of dancing with some guy that I didn't know the man of, I made my way to the side of the room and caught sight of a familiar strawberry blonde standing next to a pillar with a bored expression.

"Lydia!" I exclaimed happily as I walked over to her with a grin and she turned around to look at me with a small smile on her lips as her green eyes lit up slightly. "Having fun?"

"Tons." Lydia remarked drily with a quirked eyebrow as she looked back out at the dance floor and I laughed out loud as I followed her gaze to where Isaac and Allison were dancing closely. "Ugh, finally." She muttered quietly with a roll of her eyes as I nodded in agreement and we looked over to where Stiles was dancing spastically with a girl in a fluorescent wig. "Awkwardly."

"And predictably." I commented with a growl as I narrowed my eyes towards where a shirtless, green fluorescent painted Aiden was sandwiched between two grinding girls.

"Careful, your werewolf is showing." Lydia taunted me with a smirk as I huffed slightly and turned pointedly away from the dancing trio. "You like him."

"The sex is good." I said dismissively as I crossed my arms over my chest with a frown on my lips and I ignored the jealousy that was eating at me as I looked out at the crowded dance floor.

"It's more than that. You really like him."

"He wants us to be a couple." I admitted softly as I turned to look at my best friend with a earnestly confused expression and she smiled back at me sympathetically because she knew how hard this was going to be for me. "You're right, I do like him. But if I forget all that he's done, what does that say about me?"

"You forgave me when I poisoned you all with wolfsbane at my birthday party. You forgave Jackson for all the murders he committed as the kanima." She reminded me pointedly with a quirk of her eyebrow as she placed her hand on my arm gently and I scoffed a little as I returned her pointed look with one of my own.

"Yeah, but you were both being controlled by psychopaths."

"Honey, so was Aiden." Lydia said gently as she squeezed my arm with a small quirk of her lips and I let out a shaky breath as I folded my arms over my stomach unsurely. "We've all been through a lot. If Aiden makes you happy, then go for it. Don't let anyone stand in your way because you deserve happiness, Sophie. You're there for all of us when we need you, now let someone else be there for you."

"I love you, you know that?" I told her honestly with a small smile as I pulled her into an embrace and she hummed modestly with a laugh as she hugged me back just as tightly.

"I love you, too. I'm going to go get a drink." She said to me as she released me from the embrace and I nodded at her as she walked off into the mass of writhing people. I sighed to myself as I leaned my shoulder against the pillar next to me and I took the elastic band off my wrist to tie my hair into a ponytail because it was getting in my way when I was dancing. I jerked in surprise when Aiden jumped out in front of me with a set of bright orange false fangs in his mouth as he growled and I shot him an annoyed look as he laughed at my reaction.

"Not as good as the real ones." Aiden stated jokingly with a smirk as he took them out of his mouth and I quirked an eyebrow at him as I leaned back against the pillar with a purse of my lips.

"Or as lethal."

"Okay, sure. I deserve that. I deserve basically everything you say about me. But, you know, I was pretty instrumental setting this up." he informed me with a small genuine smile as he gestured to the raucous party behind us and I sighed slightly in acknowledgement as I bit down on my lower lip.

"Why'd you do it? Why'd you help Danny? Was it just for Ethan? Are you trying to prove a point?" I asked him with an almost desperate plea in my voice as I blinked up at him and he stared at me for a moment with warm chocolate brown eyes as he studied my pleading expression.

"For you. I did it for you." He admitted softly in almost a whisper as he reached out to grab one of my hands and he gave it a gentle squeeze as he started walking backwards without breaking eye contact. I bit down on the inside of my cheek as I blinked away the wetness in my eyes and he let go of my hand with a small smile as he turned away from me. I closed my eyes tightly as I tilted my head back against the pillar behind me and I clenched my hands into fists at my side as I debated whether or not to go after him. "Green!"

"What?" I whispered to myself in confusion as I opened my eyes to see Aiden standing a few feet in front of me with the most sincere expression I'd ever seen on his face and I licked my lips nervously as he walked closer to me so that he was an arm's length away.

"Your favourite colour. It's green. The place you'd go if you could spend a year abroad is Italy. Your favourite dessert is gelato and you love the history, art, architecture and mythology. Basically everything about Italy you love. And your favourite animals are racoons because they look like criminals. And for some reason that appeals to you. You really do have a thing for the bad boys." He teased me quietly with a small smile on his lips as he stepped even closer to me and I stared at him in shock with my mouth slightly agape as I breathed out a laugh at his last comment. A smiled broke out across my lips as I shook my head at him and I stepped forward to crash my lips against his with as much passion as I could put into one gesture. His hands instantly went to my ass as he lifted me up so that I was straddling his waist and I wrapped my arm around his neck as I parted my lips to give him entrance to my mouth. Aiden walked forward so that my back was pressed against the hard pillar behind us and I moaned into his mouth as he tangled one hand into my hair so that the tie came out. My entire body felt like it was on fire as my fingers tangled themselves in his light brown hair and I gasped in pleasure as he started placing a line of wet open mouthed kisses down my jawline.

"Aiden… Yes, we're together." I said softly with a small pleasure filled moan as he kissed his way back up to my lips and I giggled happily as I cupped his face in my hands before pecking his lips gently. He grinned at me as he tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and I smiled back at him as he leaned into kiss my lips softly with such pure affection that I felt like I was melting into his embrace.

"Sophie, Aiden!" I heard someone yell over the music as they approached us and I pulled away from Aiden with a sigh as I looked over at Danny's anxious expression. I frowned in concern as Aiden set me back down on my feet and he looked over at Danny in confusion. "Where's Ethan? I haven't seen him in like half an hour."

"We've been a little distracted." I told him loudly over the music with a frown as I grabbed Aiden's hand and he glanced around the party in concern for any sigh of his twin brother.

"I'll help you look." Aiden assured Danny with a nod as he started walking forward and I slipped my hand into his as I followed him into the pulsating crowd of dancing teenagers. Aiden pulled me closer to his side so that we didn't get separated as we searched for Ethan and we dodged people as we moved to the back of the loft with Danny behind us.

"Sophie! Aiden!" I heard Danny yell five minutes later as we approached the doors that led to the balcony and I hurried my pace as I moved the direction his voice had come from outside on the balcony.

"Lydia? Lydia!" I screamed in horror as I tore my hand from Aiden's and raced towards where she was sprawled on the hard ground. I crouched down next to her with my hands hovering uselessly over shivering her body and I saw that she was barely conscious as her eyelids fluttered. "Lydia? What happened? What happened to her?"

"I don't know, but she's freezing. She's practically hypothermic." Danny said gently with a concerned frown as Aiden lifted her into his arms and I quickly stood up as he carried her towards the door.

"We gotta get her inside." Aiden said as he carried her back into the loft and I hurried after them as he took her over to the heating vent in the back. Lydia gasped shakily as her green eyes snapped open and Aiden set her down gently in front to the heater as Danny ran off to get some blankets. I sat down behind Lydia as Aiden stepped back from her and she looked up at me with frightened green eyes as she shivered uncontrollably.

"Lydia?" I asked her in concern as I brushed her strawberry blonde hair out of her eyes and then wrapped my arms around her to get her warmed up faster.

"They came out of the dark." Lydia whispered in a terrified voice as she grasped onto my arms that cradled her to my chest and I frowned down at her in concern when I caught sight of a small backwards five behind her left ear.

"You're okay. You're okay, sweetie." I assured her softly under my breath as I rocked her back and forth in my arms with my eyes closed and she let out a shuddering breath as she squeezed my arms tighter around her. The electronic music was suddenly cut off with a loud crash and I frowned in confusion as I turned my head in the direction it had come from.

"GET OUT!" I heard Derek shout loudly from the main room as his voice echoed around the loft like thunder and I winced to myself over the sound of clamouring feet as everyone raced out of the loft. Lydia blinked up at me as she tried to sit up on her own now that she was feeling more herself and I offered her a small reassuring smile as I helped to her feet. "SOPHIE!"

"Oh, crap." I mumbled to myself as I wrapped an arm around Lydia's waist and Aiden appeared next to us out of nowhere with Danny right next to him as I started leading my friend out into the main room.

"Danny, get her out of here." Aiden ordered the human as he helped me transfer Lydia into his arms and she looked over at me with a small quirk of her lips as she let Danny lead her out of the loft. The only people in the loft were Derek, Allison and Isaac who were supporting an injured Ethan, Scott and Kira who were coming down the spiral stairs from the roof. I glanced around the room with a frown as I caught sight of five figures dressed solely in black and I slipped my hand into Aiden's for support as they all spun around to face us in unison.

"Guys, they're all looking at us." I stated in a panic as I stared at the black figures that looked as though they were made out of shadows and I knew that these were what attacked Lydia.

"Why are they all looking at us? Guys?" Aiden asked them loudly in the same tone of voice as the figures stepped forward and he pushed me slightly behind him as they continued to approach us. Derek suddenly ran at one of the figures as he tried to attack them but all of the figures started retaliating with skilled martial arts and Scott quickly joined in the fight as Derek snapped one of the figures necks. The figure didn't even flinch as it pushed Derek into the wall behind him and another one shoved Scott into a hard cement pillar. All five of the black shadow figures turned back to face me and Aiden at the same time as I gripped his hand tighter. Isaac ran forward with his claws elongated ready to attack but one of the figures pulled a sword out of its chest and spun it expertly in the air as the Beta backed down from the fight. All five of the figures turned back to me and Aiden as they walked forward robotically and four of them grabbed one of our arms to stop us from moving. Where they touched my arm felt freezing cold as I gasped at the sudden chill and I tried to shy away from them but the remaining figure grasped my chin in its black gloved hand. It seemed to be wearing a black ceramic mask with greenish yellow eyes like a firefly and it placed its hand on the side of my face as my inside's turned to ice. My teeth chattered because of both the frigid cold and the terrifying situation and I felt my eyes becoming heavy as I slumped to the ground. The last thing I could remember was six different voices calling out my name.
