Another one!
Nathan Scott stared at his phone. The screen was lit up with a new incoming message. It was a number he didn't recognize but he tapped on it anyway. His stomach almost flew into his throat when he read it.
It was a simple message, only three words, eight letters in all. 'I miss you.'
There was no doubt in his mind who the message had come from. He tossed the phone behind him and brought his hands to his face, rubbing away the tiredness. He ran his hands through his hair as he stood up from the bed. He contemplated his next move.
He knew he shouldn't do it but he did it anyway. He went back to the bed, grabbed his phone, stuffing it into the pocket of his athletic shorts, and walked to the door, snatching his keys from the table situated there. He still had a key and fingered it as he got into his car and sped off.
He didn't need directions, he knew the way like the back of his hand. In fact, he could probably drive there blindfolded. He didn't.
He sped through the streets like a man on fire, barely stopping at the stop signs along the way. He came up to a red light and knew he was almost there, just two more turns. He felt his subconscious trying to tell him something, the voice of reason in his head was vaguely ringing with warning bells. He ignored them, not once slowing him down. All he could think about was the person on the other side of that message. All he could think about in those moments was seeing her and what he would do when he did. He knew he was caving in though and he hated feeling weak.
It wasn't always like this with them. He remembered the good times as he finished his drive, pulling off of the road. There were so many good memories amongst the many bad one. She was like a drug. Her kiss was a hit and he desperately needed one.
Once he parked, he let the voice of reason take over. It told him he needed to get the hell out of her driveway.
He felt like he had been in this position before, countless times, in fact. Sometimes, he turned around as the little voice in his head was telling him to do. Sometimes he stopped and went back home. He would turn on his TV or stare at the wall, contemplating why he was sleeping alone.
Sometimes, he never made it to her block. He would just pass the turn by. Those times were few and far between and certainly not tonight.
He knew he shouldn't get too close to her or cross that invisible line between the two of them. Not again. He knew he shouldn't go there. He couldn't find it in himself to give them one more shot.
But when he was this close to looking into her expansive brown eyes and touching her silky smooth skin, he couldn't stop himself. It was all a lie.
When she opened the side door to let him in he knew it was all a lie and he definitely could not help himself where she was concerned. "Let's do this."
So I know it's really short and quick. I hope you like it! No one guessed the last chapter's song yet. Please feel free to try! I like seeing if other people know the songs I know and love.
Just wanted to shout out to thibbs65 and Naley12 for their reviews right after I posted. Thank you so much for the kind words. I will take your recommendations under advisement.
As always, hope you all have a great day!
