Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters
A/N: I recently started 9-1-1 and immediately fell in love with Buck and Abby. I hated the way the writers ended their relationship and the way they kind of assassinated Abby's character. In my story Abby breaks up with Buck a couple of months after she leaves. So, I decided to write this fic about Abby coming back the night of the train accident with a little bit of a twist. Let me know what you think.
Prologue
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?" Maddie asked as she answered the call.
"My name is Abby Clark. There's been a train derailment. Pacific West 1135. We heading from Phoenix into Union station. We've crashed somewhere close to the LA County line." Abby replies as she tries to stay calm.
"Okay. How many multiple injuries?" Maddie questioned.
"This is a mass causality situation. You've got to send out every available RA unit. We need you SAR for search and rescue LAPD for traffic control we're going to need a mobile command center." Abby answered as she moved through the derailed train car.
"It seems like you have done this before." Maddie replies.
"Yeah, but I was on your end of the line. I used to be a 9-1-1 dispatcher."
"Ok, Abby we are sending help your way." Maddie says as she ends the call.
Maddie looks over at Josh comes over. He looks her and says, "What?"
"That name sounds familiar."
"What name?"
"Abby Clark."
"Abby used to work her years ago. Was she the one calling about the accident."
"Yeah." Maddie thinks about it for a second before it hits her. "Abby. That's my brother's ex-girlfriend. The one he was in love with." Maddie says as she looks up at Josh.
"Well this just got interesting." Josh replies.
…
The 118 pulls up to the crash site. As they drive through the scene they notice all the destruction around them. The truck pulls up to a stop as Bobby gets out of the truck and heads over to scene commander.
"Captain Bobby Nash." As he holds out his hand.
"Captain Jana Reeves." She replies as the two shake hands. "Warehouses are on route search dogs as well the debris field is pretty far and wide. We've got our hands full with all passenger cars down here but there are reports that folks are trapped up there." She says as she points to the rail car standing straight up. "We just can't get to them yet."
Bobby looks over at Buck and Eddie, "Buck, Eddie. Go have a look see if there is a way to secure that car so we can those people out."
Buck and Eddie head toward the passenger car while Bobby talks to Captain Jana. "Are you sure more help is coming?"
"Dispatch assures me that me that a heavy rescue is coming." Jana answers.
"All right guys let's gear up! Let's go!"
…
The firefighters work on getting help to people in need. Eddie runs into a women who insists on trying to get the passenger car.
"I've got to get up there! You don't understand!" She begins shouting.
"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't go up there." Eddie replies in a soothing voice. "I can't let you inside but it's too dangerous."
"I know it's too dangerous but I need to get up into that car." Abby pleads.
"I'm sorry. I can't let you."
"Are you from the 118?" Abby questions.
"Yeah." Eddie replies with a confused look on his face.
Buck looks over at the woman Eddie was talking to. He notices the familiar red hair. He takes off his helmet and makes his way toward them. "Abby?"
She turns toward the sound of his voice with a small sad smile on her face, "Buck."
"You…You were on the train." He replies with concern written all over his face.
"Yeah" she replies with tears in her eyes.
Buck grabs her, "You gotta go get check out."
"Buck, I'm fine. I just need to get to that car!" She pulls her arms from his hold and makes her way toward the car. "I've got to get up there!" She shouts
"What!" Buck shouts as he grabs her arm. "Abby that's crazy!" He says as he tries to stop her.
"I'm trying to find someone!" She finally screams.
Buck takes a step back, "Ok, ok… Just tell calm down. Tell us who your…"
"I'm looking for our daughter!" She screams.
