I bet no one expected the outcome of Jack's Turbo Duel in the last chapter. I still decided to keep the incident in the story, so will he make it to the pit and pass the baton to Estelle? Let's find out!

Chapter 80: VS. Team Unicorn – Estelle
"JACK!" we all yelled when we saw him being ejected out of his Runner and crashed onto the course along with his Runner.
I was paralyzed in shock for seeing such an accident in real life. No one could ever get out of this without breaking a bone or two. The whole stadium got silent after witnessing this horrible crash.
"This is horrible!" the MC exclaimed in shock. "Jack Atlas has crashed!"
"Damn!" Crow yelled upsettingly and punched the control panel.
"There was a problem with the Duel Runner after all", Bruno mumbled.
"W-W-What should we do?!" Carly started to panic. "We can't run out to the course and help Jack! We'll get disqualified if we do that!"
I heard a frustrated grunt from Yusei and turned to him. He was biting his lower lip while clenching his hands into fists. His body was shaking by all the emotions he was holding back.
The main screen showed a close-up of Jack when he slowly lifted his head up, revealing a broken visor on his helmet and blood running down his face. He pushed himself up on his feet and wobbled towards his Runner. He grabbed the Runner and used all the strength he had to push it up.
"How could this be?! Jack Atlas is starting to push his Duel Runner!" the MC gasped.
The stunned audience started cheering for him and chanted his name, giving him moral and support to not give up. Jack started pushing his Runner towards the pit. Luckily, he wasn't that far from us.
"It looks like Jack Atlas' Duel Runner is broken! He's trying to push his Duel Runner to reach Estelle Goodwin, the second Duelist!"
I snapped out of the shock and transferred to emergency mode. "Okay, everyone!" I clapped my hands to get my teammates' attention. "Let's get to work! Carly, get the medics! Leo and Luna, be on standby to pass Jack's cards from his Duel Runner to mine! Yusei, help me with my Runner!"
"Right!" Carly and the twins nodded before running off to do their tasks.
Yusei followed me into the garage connected to the pit where my and his Runners were on standby. I opened the seat compartment to grab a pair of high-tech earbuds and my smartphone. This pair of earbuds could deafen various sounds around one, so I opened the app on my smartphone to program it so I would only be able to hear my opponent and the MC while being on the course, and the people around me within five meter radius. I didn't want to get overwhelmed by the audience while Dueling and accidently lose my concentration.
I put the earbuds in my ears and put away the smartphone in the compartment before closing it. I grabbed my helmet, ready to put it on, when I felt Yusei's hand on my shoulder.
"Estelle…", he spoke up softly, making me turn to him with a confused expression.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "We don't have much time to talk right now."
"Jack Atlas is pushing his Duel Runner with full of spirit!" the MC's voice echoed in my ears. "But he has a great problem! Breo Morales is taking lap after lap, increasing his Speed Counters! He currently has 7 Speed Counters, but as soon as he has twelve, Jack's Speed Counters will decrease! If his Speed Counters hit zero before he makes it to the pit and Estelle doesn't get out to the course, Team 5D's will lose!"
"I know, but there's something I need to tell you", Yusei nodded.
"Hm?" I hummed softly while blinking my eyes.
For some reason, I suddenly felt like we were the only ones in this universe. The world around us vanished as we stared at each other's eyes. It was then I realized Yusei had grown in height since I saw him for the first time. Back when he was a young adult, he was five centimeters shorter than me. Now, he must be around two centimeter taller than me. His body had grown as well, which gave him a manly aura.
Yusei had grown into a man in the span of a year.
Before I knew it, Yusei leant in and planted his lips on my right cheek, giving me a kiss. My eyes widened in surprise by the sudden and bold move. I almost dropped my helmet which I was still holding in my hands.
Yusei pulled back and looked in my eyes as I tried to keep myself calm. His cheeks were a little pink while he gave him a warm smile. "Thank you for not giving up on us", he said.
I knew he was talking about what happened before. He and the others must have thought I wasn't going to show up for the Turbo Duel, but there was no way I would ever abandon them!
I returned the smile while sensing how warm my cheeks were. "I could never give up on you guys because of some drama."
With that said, I put my helmet on before getting onto my Duel Runner. I turned the engine on which made a lovely purring noise. The dashboard showed no signs of errors, so I slowly rolled out to the pit and waited for Jack by the line which he had to push his Duel Runner past before he could pass the baton and the twins could move his cards.
I took a quick look at the large screen in the stadium. Breo had just reached 12 Speed Counters. Jack was already inside the pit, but several meters away from our section. Leo, Luna, and Crow encouraged him to hurry up before it was too late.
By the time Jack's Speed Counters had dropped to four, Carly returned with two paramedics and a stretcher. Jack was pushing his Duel Runner past Team Unicorn's section, so he was getting closer.
You can do it, Jack… You can do it!
"Now, here he comes!" the MC yelled.
I looked over my shoulder and saw Jack was only meters away from us. I quickly checked the main screen and saw he still had 3 Speed Counters… No, it just changed to two.
I made a quick rehearsal in my mind. Jack had Chaos Ruler and Sword Master, but he had one facedown card that I had no idea what it was. I had to check it before heading out to the course.
I looked back over my shoulder once again. Jack was just three steps away from the line he had to cross with his Runner.
Two…
One…!
He made it!
The twins ran to his Duel Runner and grabbed the cards before placing them on my Duel Disk. Jack wobbled towards me as he ripped the team tag from his left arm and held it out to pass it to me. He tripped of his feet because of his weak condition, but I grabbed his hand before he collapsed on his knees.
I slapped the team tag on my left arm and quickly checked what Jack's facedown card was. It was Thunder of Ruler, which was perfect. The tires of my Runner screeched before I drove out of the pit just as Breo drove past it. When Breo passed the first corner, Jack's Speed Counters dropped from two to one. We were still in the safe zone. I shortly passed the corner too, officially remaining in the Turbo Duel.
"They made it! Team 5D's is still in the game! Now, both second Duelists, Breo Morales and Estelle Goodwin, will now begin their fight!" the MC announced.
XXXXXXXXXX – Normal POV
The members of Team 5D's cheered in relief that they were still in the game. Yusei had helped Jack up on his feet and had one of the blonde's arms wrapped around his shoulders.
"Yusei, take care…of the rest…", Jack mumbled before he lost consciousness.
"Jack!" Yusei called worriedly before turning to the medics. "Medics, take care of him!"
"Yes, sir!" one of the medics nodded before they rolled the stretcher closer.
Yusei helped them gently place down Jack on the stretcher while the others stayed in the background and watched the scene. "Carly!" Yusei called.
"Yes, Yusei?!" Carly straightened her back.
"Look after Jack for us, please", Yusei told her.
Carly shrieked inwardly in joy for getting the best mission in the competition. "Yes, of course!" she nodded with a big smile.
XXXXXXXXXX – Estelle's POV
"I'm actually relieved your team is still in the match", Breo told me through the intercom. "Is Jack okay?"
"He will be", I replied. "Now, shall we continue the Duel?"
"Hey, what's the rush? I just want to get to know you guys better."
Was Breo intentionally stalling the time or was he trying to flirt with me? I remembered a small scene from the anime of how he used to have a girlfriend, so I assumed he was bit of a flirt.
"Charms won't lead you anywhere right now", I retorted. "Start your turn already!"
"Feisty and impatient, but you're right. Let's continue!"
"Duel!" both of us shouted simultaneously as we drew our first five cards.
Breo: 4000 LP = SPC 12
Estelle: 4000 LP = SPC 1
I got Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Sage with Eyes of Blue, Speed Spell – Speed Fusion, and Impenetrable Attack. A good hand. A really good one.
Besides those cards, I had Jack's Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon and Sword Master on the field. If I could keep them around until my turn, I could actually Synchro summon two Monsters at once; my ace and another comrade.
Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon, Level 8: ATK 3000
Sword Master, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 1200
Breo only had Andre's Thunder Unicorn and one facedown card. Because Andre used Doble Passe, the steed could attack me directly in Breo's upcoming turn. Luckily, I could stop that with Jack's facedown card.
Thunder Unicorn, Level 5: ATK 2200
"Because it was Jack's turn last time, it's my turn! Draw!" Breo shouted.
Breo: 4000 LP = SPC 12
Estelle: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
"During your Standby Phase, I activate the Trap; Thunder of Ruler!" I called, quickly activating Jack's Trap card. "There is no Battle Phase this turn!"
"Oh, what a clever move!" the MC commented. "Estelle managed to cancel Breo's Battle Phase, which would've made him able to attack her directly with Thunder Unicorn thanks to Andre's Doble Passe!"
"Ow, that kinda hurt my pride", Breo commented. "But if you want to be rude, then I'll be rude too. I activate the facedown Andre left for me, which is Speed Spell – the End of the Storm!"
"Say what?!" I exclaimed in surprise.
"I can only activate this when I have 10 or more Speed Counters. Now, every Monster on the field is destroyed and the controllers take 300 points of damage for each of their own destroyed Monsters!" Breo explained.
The wind around us got violent as it destroyed Chaos Ruler, Sword Master, and Thunder Unicorn. The remnants of Jack's Monsters hit me and caused my Life Points to decrease just a little bit. Breo took less damage because he only had one Monster on his field.
Breo: 4000 LP – 3700 LP = SPC 12
Estelle: 4000 LP – 3400 LP = SPC 2
"Breo sacrificed Andre's Thunder Unicorn to get rid of Jack's Chaos Ruler and Sword Master now that he can't attack on his turn!" the MC commented. "This means, ladies and gentlemen, the second Duelists will Duel with their own cards!"
"Now, we can start with a clean field", Breo said. "I summon Bicorn Re'em in defense mode!"
Bicorn Re'em, Level 4: DEF 1600
"Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage to you for each Speed Spell in my hand! I only have one Speed Spell, which is Angel Baton, so you'll only take 800 points of damage!"
A lightning bolt was discharged from Breo's Duel Runner and hit mine. I grunted in slight discomfort as Solid Vision shocked me.
Breo: 3700 LP = SPC 12 – SPC 8
Estelle: 3400 LP – 2600 LP = SPC 2
"Next, since I have more than 2 Speed Counters, I play Angel Baton! I draw two cards and send one card from my hand to the Graveyard, which is Synchro Transmission. I place two cards facedown and end my turn."
I wasn't expecting my Life Points to be so low before my first turn. I partially remembered Breo didn't play very much offensive and his Synchro horse's effect forced each player to discard several cards at once. I needed to defeat him fast before he could eliminate me with Speed World 2's effect or with a Deck Out.
I first wanted to show a little mercy, but now he has angered the dragon within me. If he wanted to play rough, I'll play rough as well.
"My turn! Draw!" I called, drawing Speed Spell – Angel Baton.
Breo: 3700 LP = SPC 8 – SPC 9
Estelle: 2600 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
"I reveal Blue-Eyes White Dragon in my hand to Special summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon in attack mode!"
Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, Level 8: ATK 3000
"We have a Blue-Eyes on the field already!" the MC commented. "Kaiba Seto must be very proud to see his signature Monster participating in the World Racing Grand Prix!"
"Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon's effect!" I called. "He can destroy one Monster my opponent controls, but then he cannot attack the turn he uses his effect! Blue-Eyes, destroy Bicorn Re'em!"
Blue-Eyes Alternative roared at the twin-horned lion beast before firing its own version of White Lightning. Bicorn Re'em was engulfed by the light before it shattered into pieces.
"I now Normal summon the Tuner Monster, Sage with Eyes of Blue, in attack mode!"
Sage with Eyes of Blue, Level 1, Tuner: ATK 0
"Sage's effect! When he's successfully Normal summoned, I can add one Level 1 LIGHT-attribute Tuner Monster from my Deck to my hand! I choose the White Stone of Ancients! Now, I tune Level 1 Sage with Eyes of Blue and Level 8 Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon! The smell of gunpowder and smoke tickles the nose! The clatter of empty gun cartridges is the song of war! Synchro summon! Show yourself, Vermillion Dragon Mech!"
Vermillion Dragon Mech, Level 9: ATK 2700
"Estelle has just Synchro summoned a Monster that's armed with all the weapons you can imagine!" the MC gasped. "She's certainly not here to play after all the damage she took from Breo during the last turn!"
"Vermillion Dragon Mech's effect!" I called. "I can banish one Tuner Monster from my hand, Graveyard, or face-up field to target one card on the field and destroy it. I remove Sage with Eyes of Blue from play to destroy the facedown card in the middle of your field, Breo!"
Sage's transparent image appeared in front of Vermillion Dragon Mech before he was absorbed by the armor dragon. The Synchro Monster made noise of cartridges being loaded before he fired bullets at Breo's facedown card. It quickly flipped up to reveal Negate Attack before it shattered into pieces.
"Unlike Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, I can attack with Vermillion Dragon Mech after using his effect. Vermillion Dragon Mech, fire away!"
Vermillion Dragon Mech released a screech from its mouth while aiming its weapons at Breo. I heard a nervous gulp from him before my machine Monster fired its loaded bullets. The bullets whistled through the air before they hit their target. Breo was enveloped in smoke while I heard him let out a cry in surprise. I followed him through the smoke while it cleared up. Breo was still with us, but his Life Points had taken a big hit.
Breo: 3700 LP – 1000 LP = SPC 9
Estelle: 2600 LP = SPC 3
"What a turn of events!" the MC exclaimed. "Breo was first in the lead after dealing a large amount of damage to Estelle on his last turn, but now she has turned it around with her Vermillion Dragon Mech! Can he change it back on his next turn?"
"That was impressive", Breo said. "You're tougher than I expected."
"Never underestimate the opponent, Breo", I replied. "I now play Speed Spell – Angel Baton. I draw two cards and send one from my hand to the Graveyard. I send the White Stone of Ancients to my Graveyard."
The two cards I had just drawn were Sakuretsu Armor and Jar of Avarice.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn", I continued, setting Impenetrable Attack and Sakuretsu Armor. "But! During my End Phase, because I sent the White Stone of Ancients to the Graveyard this turn, I can Special summon a Blue-Eyes Monster from my Deck! I Special summon Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon in attack mode!"
Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon, Level 8: ATK 2500
"Oh, Estelle means no business here! Now, Breo might be in trouble to get past her two powerful Monsters!" the MC whistled.
"My turn. Draw!" Breo called.
Breo: 1000 LP = SPC 9 – SPC 10
Estelle: 2600 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
"I activate the effect of Synchro Transmission in my Graveyard!" Breo shouted. "I banish the Trap card so I can return Thunder Unicorn from the Graveyard to my Extra Deck and then draw one card as compensation!"
I've never heard of that Trap card before, so I had no idea what kind of effects it had. I had to look it up after the Turbo Duel.
"Now, I send Chow Chow Chan from my hand to the Graveyard to Special summon Egotistical Ape from my hand in attack mode!"
Egotistical Ape, Level 5, Tuner: ATK 1200
"Egotistical Ape's effect! I can either increase or decrease its Level due to Chow Chow Chan's Level, which are 2. I choose to decrease Egotistical Ape's Level by 2!"
Egotistical Ape, Level 5 – Level 3, Tuner: ATK 1200
"Next, I activate my Continuous Trap; Call of the Haunted! It allows me to Special summon a Monster from my Graveyard in attack mode! I Special summon Bicorn Re'em!"
Bicorn Re'em, Level 4: ATK 800
Uh-oh… Breo managed to bring out the Monsters for Synchro summoning his steed.
"Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon's effect!" I quickly shouted. "Because my opponent activated a card, I can shuffle Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon back to my Deck and Special summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from the Deck!"
Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Level 8: ATK 3000
"And the actual Blue-Eyes White Dragon has joined us!" the MC shouted. "Estelle is slowly building up her defense with her Blue-Eyes Deck!"
"Are you perhaps panicking now?" Breo asked sarcastically. "It doesn't matter what you'll do. I tune Level 3 Egotistical Ape with Level 4 Bicorn Re'em! Galloping in the heavens like thunder, tearing apart the sea of clouds! These hooves will rip across the surface of the Earth! Synchro summon! Roar, Voltic Bicorn!"
Voltic Bicorn, Level 7: ATK 2500
There it is. The second unicorn has entered the field.
"When Bicorn Re'em is used as Synchro Material, you send two cards from your Deck to the Graveyard", Breo informed me.
Voltic Bicorn's holographic body galloped next to me before it turned around to face me. It then ran through me with the two top cards of my Deck stuck on its two horns. Those cards were my second Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Shadow Spell. I held back a growl before I sent said cards from my Deck to the Graveyard.
I calmed down and looked at the screen on my dashboard. I tapped Voltic Bicorn's card to enlarge it and read its effect. In the anime, I partially remembered its effect forced both Duelists to send cards from the Deck to the Graveyard whenever it got destroyed, even by its controller's card. However, this card said if it's destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect), both players send the top 7 cards of their Deck to the Graveyard, meaning Breo couldn't use Speed World 2's effect or any other of his cards to destroy it.
What was he going to do? Command his Voltic Bicorn to attack one of my Monsters and get destroyed in order to force me to send my cards to the Graveyard?
What could I do against it? I had no card in my Deck that could help me remove the Synchro steed from play. Except one of the cards that was my favorite.
"Voltic Bicorn, attack Vermillion Dragon Mech!" Breo commanded.
"What?! Breo's commanding his steed to attack one of Estelle's Monsters?!" the MC gasped in disbelief. "He'll end up destroying his own Monster!"
Voltic Bicorn neighed before it ran towards Vermillion Dragon Mech. The steed jumped up and tried to slam its body against the Synchro Monster's abdomen. The armored dragon screeched before firing bullets at Voltic Bicorn when it jumped back. The steed neighed in pain before shattering into pieces.
Breo: 1000 LP – 800 LP = SPC 10
Estelle: 2600 LP = SPC 4
"Voltic Bicorn's effect!" Breo called. "Since it was destroyed by your card by battle, we both send the top seven cards of our Decks to the Graveyard! Now, mill your Deck!"
So Breo was going with the original Deck Out plan… That was going to be problematic.
I did what he said and grabbed the top seven cards of my Deck before sending them to the Graveyard. The cards were Speed Spell – Half Seize, Dark Bribe, my second White Stone of Ancients, my second Sage with Eyes of Blue, Curse of the Circle, Breakthrough Skill, and the White Stone of Legend.
"The White Stone of Legend's effect activates!" I called before Breo could continue his turn. "Because it was sent to the Graveyard, I can add my third and last Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my Deck to my hand!"
After I added my last Blue-Eyes White Dragon to my hand, I realized I had lost half of my Deck already. I always tried building a 40-cards Deck, but I often ended up having cards between 40 and 50. For the Grand Prix, I managed to build a 40-cards Deck, but now, thanks to Breo, I only had 20 cards left.
"Speed World 2's effect!" Breo called. "I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage for each Speed Spell I have in my hand! I only have one, which is Zero Reverse, so it's not going to hurt that much!"
I braced myself as the Speed World Field Spell struck me with a lightning bolt, forcing my Life Points down.
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 10 – SPC 6
Estelle: 2600 LP – 1800 LP = SPC 4
"I activate Speed World 2's effect again!"
"Va?! (What?!)"
"I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict an additional of 800 points of damage to you! I'm sorry for doing this to you, but I want our Life Points to be even."
I grunted in slight pain as I was hit by another lightning bolt. The Solid Vision made the hair on my limbs stand up beneath my riding suit.
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 2
Estelle: 1800 LP – 1000 LP = SPC 4
"That was unexpected!" the MC shouted. "Breo sacrificed his Voltic Bicorn to mill Estelle's Deck, including his own, and then used his Speed Counters to lower her Life Points! The Duel is getting just as thrilling as the last one with Jack and Andre!"
"I place three cards facedown and end my turn", Breo said.
"During your End Phase, my second White Stone of Ancients activates in my Graveyard!" I called. "Because it was sent to the Graveyard this turn by Voltic Bicorn's effect, I can Special summon a Blue-Eyes Monster from my Deck! I Special summon Dragon Spirit of White in attack mode!"
Dragon Spirit of White, Level 8: ATK 2500
"For anyone who's wondering why Estelle was allowed to Special summon this dragon, it's because it is always treated as a 'Blue-Eyes' card!" the MC informed the audience.
"Dragon Spirit of White's effect activates when it's summoned!" I continued. "I can choose one of my opponent's Spell or Trap cards and remove it from play! I choose the one in the middle of your field, Breo!"
Dragon Spirit of White collected energy in its mouth before firing a white beam that had a little bit of icy sparkles. The beam hit the card I chose and flipped it up, revealing Dark Bribe. The card froze into ice as a wormhole appeared behind of it. The frozen card was sucked into the wormhole, leaving Breo with only two facedown cards.
"You're sneakier than I thought", he growled softly.
"Thank you for the compliment", I replied nonchalantly. "Now, it's my turn. Draw!"
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Estelle: 1000 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5
The card I had just drawn was my second White Stone of Legend. I had to stop and think for a second. If I made my calculation right, Breo currently had no cards in his hand, since he set his last three on his last turn, which meant that one of the two remaining facedowns was the Speed Spell he used to inflict damage to me.
Speed Spell – Zero Reverse. A card he could use to Special summon Voltic Bicorn on his next turn.
But why did he place it facedown with the other two cards? Was it a trap? Did he want me to take the bait?
I had to risk it for the biscuit.
"Vermillion Dragon Mech's effect!" I called. "I remove from play the White Stone of Legend from my Graveyard to destroy one card on the field! I choose…the facedown card on your left, Breo!"
The energy of the White Stone of Legend was absorbed by my Synchro Monster before it fired bullets at the chosen card. Breo's facedown card flipped up, revealing Speed Spell – Zero Reverse, before it shattered into pieces.
"I now summon my second White Stone of Legend in attack mode!"
The White Stone of Legend, Level 1, Tuner: ATK 300
"Next, I activate my Speed Spell – Speed Fusion! I can activate it when I have 4 or more Speed Counters to use Monsters in my hand and field for a Fusion summoning! I use my two Blue-Eyes White Dragons in my hand and the third on my field to Fusion summon one of the ultimate Blue-Eyes! Come forth, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Level 12: ATK 4500
"Unbelievable! Estelle has just now Fusion summoned Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!" the MC announced. "Breo is really getting the taste of the dragons!"
"I'm not done yet!" I added. "I tune Level 1 White Stone of Legend with Level 8 Dragon Spirit of White! Golden scales clad the dragon. Become a shield and protect your ally! Synchro summon! Arise, Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon!"
Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon, Level 9: ATK 2500
"And the Blue-Eyes just keep coming!" the MC shouted. "We have both a Fusion and a Synchro Blue-Eyes on the field! What is Estelle, the Blue-Eyes Lady, up to next?!"
"I activate Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon's effect!" I called. "I release him to Special summon one LIGHT dragon-type Synchro Monster from my Extra Deck in defense position, but that Monster will be destroyed during the End Phase of this turn! I Special summon Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon!"
Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, Level 9: DEF 3000
"Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon's effect! When it's Special summoned, until the end of the next turn, neither player can target dragon Monsters I currently control with card effects, and they cannot be destroyed by card effects! Meaning Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon's effect is canceled, so Azure-Eyes will stay on the field after my End Phase!"
Azure-Eyes' body was enveloped in a silver aura along with Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Now, both of them were safe from being destroyed by card effects. Unfortunately, Vermillion Dragon Mech was a machine Monster, so he didn't get the protection.
"Ooh, Estelle sacrificed Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon to add an additional protection to her dragon Monsters!" the MC commented. "Which means, if Breo's facedown card has an effect that either targets or destroys her dragons, it won't work at all!"
"Battle! Let's end this Duel!" I shouted. "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, use Neutron Blast on Breo!"
The three heads of Blue-Eyes Ultimate opened their mouths and collected energy to obliterate Breo and his last few Life Points. I sincerely thought I was going to win this, but you should think twice before getting ahead of yourself.
"I activate my second Call of the Haunted!" Breo yelled, activating his facedown card.
"Another Call of the Haunted?!" I gasped in disbelief.
"You better believe it!" Breo retorted with a flirty voice. "I Special summon Voltic Bicorn from my Graveyard in attack mode!"
Voltic Bicorn, Level 7: ATK 2500
Oh no, I didn't want to take the risk and lose more cards than what I already have.
"Blue-Eyes Ultimate, stop the attack!" I called.
The three-headed dragon stopped collecting energy and lowered its three necks.
"I end my Battle Phase", I said before grabbing Jar of Avarice. "I place one card facedown and end my turn."
"You chose not to take me out? Are you being cautious…or a coward?" Breo asked.
I held back a soft growl when he thought I was a coward. I didn't want to take any risks of losing more cards.
"Well, whatever decisions you make, it's none of my business. It's my turn! Draw!" Breo yelled.
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Estelle: 1000 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 6
"I switch Voltic Bicorn to defense mode."
Voltic Bicorn, Level 7: ATK 2500 – DEF 2000
"Next, I activate Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage! I only have Speed Spell – Overboost, but after this your Life Points will be in the danger zone!"
I braced myself as I was struck by another lightning bolt.
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 0
Estelle: 1000 LP – 200 LP = SPC 6
"I end my turn with that."
"Estelle is barely holding on with just 200 Life Points left!" the MC gasped. "She won't be able to survive next time Breo uses Speed World 2 to inflict effect damage, but she's got her army of Monsters as defense from all sorts of assault!"
"My turn! Draw!" I yelled, drawing Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon.
Breo: 800 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 7
"During my Standby Phase, Azure-Eyes' second effect activates! I Special summon a Normal Monster from my Graveyard and the chosen one is Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Level 8: ATK 3000
"This could be it, people!" the MC commented. "There is no way Breo will survive Estelle's four powerful Monsters!"
"I continue my turn by activating my facedown Trap; Jar of Avarice!" I called. "I get to pick five cards in my Graveyard and shuffle them back to my Deck before drawing one card." I tapped the Graveyard on my screen to choose which cards I wanted. "I pick Speed Spell – Half Seize, one White Stone of Ancients, Curse of the Circle, Speed Spell – Angel Baton, and Dragon Spirit of White."
The chosen cards were extracted from my Graveyard. I grabbed them and double-checked to make sure they really were the ones. Once I confirmed them, I put them on top of my Deck in my Wrist Dealer before it shuffled my Deck. Once it was done, I placed my index and middle fingers of my right hand on top of the Deck, swiftly praying to draw Speed Spell – Half Seize so I could use it to recover my Life Points. I drew the top card, only to hold back a frustrated growl when I saw it was Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon.
Well, while I was bricking, I did have a plan on how to win this Duel.
"I activate Breakthrough Skill in my Graveyard!" I called. "I remove it from play to target your Voltic Bicorn and negate its effect for the rest of this turn!"
A burning aura enveloped Voltic Bicorn, causing it to neigh in confusion while temporary forgetting its own effect.
"Nice try, but even when Voltic Bicorn is destroyed by your card and sent to the Graveyard, his effect will still activate!" Breo informed me.
"What?!" I exclaimed in disbelief. Did I just misplay here?
"I guess you're not used to your Trap card, but now you know", Breo chuckled.
Damn it! I was so certain I could use Breakthrough Skill to stop Voltic Bicorn's effect! Whatever, I had to attack now to finish it, even though I had to sacrifice more cards.
"I activate Vermillion's effect! I remove from play my second White Stone of Legend in the Graveyard to destroy Voltic Bicorn!"
Vermillion Dragon Mech loaded its guns before firing bullets at the steed. Voltic Bicorn neighed in pain before it exploded into pieces.
"Voltic Bicorn's effect! We both send the top seven cards of our Decks to the Graveyard!" Breo shouted.
I held a growl as I drew the seven cards of my Deck and sent them to the Graveyard. They were my second Speed Spell – Speed Fusion, Curse of the Circle, Dragon Spirit of White, Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon, Speed Spell – Half Seize, Speed Spell – Synchro Defuse, and Deep-Eyes White Dragon. None of them had any effects that could be activated while being in the Graveyard.
"It's time to finish this! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack directly!" I yelled irritably. "Go, Neutron Blast!"
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon roared before firing a triple White Lightning that combined into one Neutron Blast. Breo screamed as he was engulfed by the attack.
Breo: 800 LP – 0 LP = SPC 1
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 7
"Breo Morales is out!" the MC yelled. "After multiple turns of agonizing struggle, Estelle Goodwin defeated Breo with her dragons! Now, it's up to Jean González, Team Unicorn's last Duelist, to avenge his fallen comrade and try get past Team 5D's' second Duelist's four powerful Monsters!"
I was still flabbergasted that I managed to defeat Breo. His gameplay was kinda similar from the anime, from what I remembered, but it was still different. I watched him drive into the pit while I stayed on the course and drove around, waiting for Team Unicorn's last Duelist.
XXXXXXXXXX – Normal POV
Despite losing against the young woman, Breo was happy with his efforts. Jean was waiting with his Duel Runner inside the pit for his teammate to pass the baton to him.
"Sorry I couldn't do much", Breo apologized after he braked next to Jean and passed the team tag to him. "She's a stubborn opponent."
"Estelle is quite good", Andre commented as he stood next to Jean's Runner with his arms crossed. "I suspect she was meant to be the tank of Team 5D's, considering her current Monsters."
"As expected from someone who's using Blue-Eyes", Jean replied as he put the team tag on his left shoulder. "But don't worry; I'll make sure to defeat her so I can Duel Fudo Yusei and crush him into pieces."
XXXXXXXXXX – Estelle's POV
Jean drove out of the pit before I passed it, so I didn't gain a Speed Counter. He took the corner first before I drove after him.
"Now it's time for the Duel to continue between Team Unicorn's last Duelist, Jean González, against Team 5D's' second Duelist, Estelle Goodwin!" the MC called. "However, Estelle's Life Points are merely 200, so any type of damage could bring her down and make her pass the baton to Team 5D's' last Duelist, Fudo Yusei!"
"Duel!" Jean and I yelled simultaneously as my opponent drew his first five cards.
Jean: 4000 LP = SPC 1
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 7
"I applaud your efforts, Dragon Lady", Jean told me. "But I'm afraid this Duel will be your end."
"We don't know that yet", I replied. "It was my turn last time, so go ahead, Jean."
"As you wish. Draw!" Jean yelled, drawing his sixth card.
Jean: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 7 – SPC 8
"I summon Trident Warrior in attack mode!"
Trident Warrior, Level 4: ATK 1800
"Trident Warrior's effect! When this card is successfully summoned, I can Special summon a Level 3 or lower Monster from my hand to the field! I Special summon Delta Flyer in attack mode!"
Delta Flyer, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 1500
"Delta Flyer's effect! Once per turn, I raise the Level of a Monster on the field excluding itself! I raise Trident Warrior's Level!"
Trident Warrior, Level 4 – Level 5: ATK 1800
"I tune Level 3 Delta Flyer and Level 5 Trident Warrior! Galloping in the heavens like thunder, going through the pitch black sky, this lightning will strike the Earth and incinerate it! Synchro summon! Shine, Lightning Tricorn!"
Lightning Tricorn, Level 8: ATK 2800
Team Unicorn's third and last Synchro steed has entered the field. It was only 100 attack points stronger than Vermillion Dragon Mech, so I suspected he was going to attack my tank dragon.
"Lightning Tricorn, attack Vermillion Dragon Mech!"
The golden steed galloped towards my machine Monster who just watched the incoming Monster.
"I activate my Trap; Sakuretsu Armor!" I called.
"What?!" Jean gaped in surprise.
"When an opponent's Monster declares an attack, I can target and destroy said Monster! So say goodbye to the golden horse!"
Before the golden steed could even touch Vermillion, it exploded into pieces.
Jean growled through clenched teeth before continuing his turn. "I place two cards facedown and end my turn."
"My turn! Draw!" I called, drawing Galaxy Serpent.
Jean: 4000 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 8 – SPC 9
"Standby Phase! Azure-Eyes' effect! I Special summon my second Blue-Eyes White Dragon from the Graveyard in attack mode!"
Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Level 8: ATK 3000
Now I had my field full with five Monsters. I kind of felt bad for not leaving room for Yusei to summon any Monsters, but I had a plan to fix that problem.
Sadly…
"I activate my Trap; Torrential Tribute!" Jean called.
"What?!" my eyes widened in shock at the sight of the Trap card.
"When a Monster is summoned, every Monster on the field is destroyed! Say goodbye to your army, Dragon Lady!"
A large wave flowed out from the Trap card and caught all my five Duels Monsters. They struggled against the current, but it was no use. They were pulled down under the water before they shattered into pieces.
"What was that?!" the MC yelled in surprise. "With just one card, Jean literally cleaned up Estelle's field from her five Monsters! I'm getting déjà vu from Breo's first turn when he cleaned up the field as well!"
"Vermillion Dragon Mech's effect!" I called quickly. "When he's destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard, I can target one of my banished Tuner Monsters and add it to my hand. I choose Sage with Eyes of Blue!"
I stayed quiet to think for a moment. I couldn't summon my two high Level Blue-Eyes Monsters and Galaxy Serpent was a Normal Monster. If I summoned Galaxy Serpent, I couldn't use Sage's effect to Special summon a Blue-Eyes Monster from the Deck.
Wait a minute…
My eyes widened in realization. I could have used the White Stone of Ancients' second effect to banish them once per turn and add a Blue-Eyes Monster card from the Graveyard to my hand! If I had used their effects sooner, I could have added one Blue-Eyes White Dragon and one Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon! I was so focused on their first effects that I completely forgot about it!
Dang it!
The only thing I could do was summoning Galaxy Serpent and use her to attack Jean directly, but his facedown card bothered me. Was it worth taking the risk?
I had to, in case something happens and I somehow managed to keep Galaxy Serpent for Yusei to use. Both the Monster and the Trap card I set a while ago.
"I summon Galaxy Serpent in attack mode!"
Galaxy Serpent, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 1000
"Battle! Galaxy Serpent, attack Jean directly!"
Galaxy Serpent shrieked before she flew towards Jean. She widened her wings and released a shower of pixie dust made of starlight. Jean barely grunted as he took the damage.
Jean: 4000 LP – 3000 LP = SPC 3
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 9
"I end my turn with that."
"This could be it", Jean smirked before drawing a card. "It's my turn!"
Jean: 3000 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Estelle: 200 LP = SPC 9 – SPC 10
Jean had 4 Speed Counters now. He could activate Speed World 2's effect and inflict damage to me, making me lose the Duel.
"First, I place one card facedown", Jean began. "Next… I activate Speed World 2's effect!"
Yep. Here it comes.
"I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage to you. I have Speed Spell – Speed Energy, but it's more than enough to finish you! Sorry, Estelle, but my primary goal is to defeat Yusei."
There was nothing I could do to stop this. I held back a soft grunt as the Field Spell hit me with another lightning bolt, forcing my Life Points down to zero and ending Jean's turn.
Jean: 3000 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 0
Estelle: 200 LP – 0 LP = SPC 10
"And Estelle's Life points hit zero!" the MC shouted. "After pulling up a feisty fight, Team 5D's' second Duelist is out, so this Turbo Duel is now up to both teams' third Duelists; Fudo Yusei and Jean González!"

I decided, as a last-minute idea, to give Andre, Breo, and Jean last names. I looked up Spanish last names on Google.
