Chapter 82: VS. Team White Wind – Mizoguchi
Sherry, Mizoguchi, Sakura, Mei, and I were in our VIP room connected to one of the new courses where we were going to have our Turbo Duel against Team White Wind. We were waiting for the staff to escort us to the pit when it was time. Our Turbo Duel was going to begin ten minutes after the Turbo Duel between Team 5D's and Team Unicorn commenced, so we've got some time to spare.
I was a little nervous, so I was quiet the whole time. Mei and Sakura sat on a couch while looking nervous as well. Sakura was softly chewing her lower lip while Mei had her arms and legs crossed, but her left leg was moving back and forth like a pendulum. Both of them were wearing grey jackets with our team's name on the back, showing they were part of the team.
I sat on another couch and watched the beginning of Team 5D's Turbo Duel on the television in our room. I sighed inwardly in relief when I spotted Estelle in the team during the introduction ceremony. I was worried she wasn't going to show up, but she made it. I guess everything was okay after what happened at the hospital.
"You look relaxed now, Aki", Sherry spoke up next to me.
My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I suddenly heard her voice right next to me. I turned to my right and realized she had sat down next to me.
"Y-Yeah…", I nodded softly.
"I understand you were worried about Estelle, but she's there now", Sherry told me. "So now, you can concentrate on our Duel."
"I will", I smiled softly.
"I heard Team White Wind is a popular team coming from Hokkaido", Mei spoke up. "And they're using WIND-attribute Decks; Gusto, Dragunity, and Windwitch."
"I know about Gusto and Dragunity Monsters, but I've never heard about Windwitch Monsters", Sakura said.
"I did my research about Team White Wind", Sherry replied. "All three archetypes have effects that allow them to quickly summon several Monsters in one turn. However, Windwitches are extra difficult because of their effect damage."
"Effect damage… That will be a big problem", Mei mumbled. "Do you have a plan against the witches?"
"We do", I nodded softly. "Sherry, Mizoguchi, and I modified our Decks, so we should have a chance against them."
Mizoguchi nodded silently in agreement while Sherry gave me a small time and gently squeezed my right shoulder before letting go of me.
I couldn't help but feel like a shy high school girl. We've spent so much time together lately with the practice Duels and other stuff and yet my heart still kept pounding fast in my chest whenever Sherry placed her hand on me. It reminded me of the few times our hands touched each other while we worked on the riding suits we were supposed to wear now, but we weren't able to finish them in time. The touches were all from handing tools to each other or accidently bumping our hands on the working table.
Sherry's touches were so different compared to the others. Why was that?
A knock on the door broke our conversation. A staff member of the Grand Prix entered our room with a clipboard in his hands. "Team Royal Knights? I'm here to escort you to the pit."
"Thank you, sir", Sherry nodded before she stood up. "Team Royal Knights… It's time."
We all nodded before we got up from our seats. I grabbed my Wrist Dealer from the coffee table and strapped it on my left wrist before I picked up my helmet. Sherry and Mizoguchi did the same while Mei and Sakura picked up two bags of tools and spare parts needed for our Duel Runners, if something was going to break during the Turbo Duel.
We followed the staff member out to the pit at the same time as Team White Wind. We did our own introduction ceremony with a female Master of Ceremonies. I could sense the confidence oozing from the three Duelists of the opponent team. They certainly were not here to play games with us.
"So which one of you three will go first?" Sakura wondered shortly after we had settled ourselves in our booth.
"I would've preferred to go first, but because Aki is still a novice, I thought it would be best to let Mizoguchi go first so she can observe and learn about Turbo Duels", Sherry replied. "She will be the second Duelist and I'll go last to finish it."
"I'm already a little nervous…", I confessed while my heart pounded hard against my chest.
"It's a normal reaction", Mei said. "I'm part of the pit crew, but I'm still nervous. After all, we're competing in a world championship."
"So… No pressure", Sakura laughed sheepishly.
"Right… No pressure…", I repeated with a sheepish laugh.
"You'll get used to it the more you compete", Sherry said as she patted my shoulder. "I know you'll do great out there when it's your turn, Aki."
"I hope so too…", I blushed a little.
Mizoguchi had finished checking his Duel Runner before he joined us. "Milady, I am ready."
Sherry nodded before she removed her hand from my shoulder. "I'm counting on you, Mizoguchi."
XXXXXXXXXX – Mizoguchi's POV
I rolled my limousine-framed Duel Runner out to the course to the start line where the first Duelist of Team White Wind was waiting for me. She was a young lady in her early twenties and had black long hair with green highlights. The green color matched her Duel Runner that was mainly white and had green accent. Her riding suit and helmet were the opposite; they were mainly green with white accent.
"The Turbo Duel is about to begin!" the female MC announced. "We have Nakajima Tsubasa from Team White Wind versus Mizoguchi from Team Royal Knights as the first Duelists! Duelists, activate the Field Spell!"
"Speed World 2, set!"
Straight after we had activated the Field Spell, the holographic countdown lamp appeared in front of us. I eyed the lamp as it ticked down to the final second. A siren sound erupted when the countdown was done.
"Turbo Duel! Acceleration!" the MC yelled. "The Duelist who will go first depends on who takes the first corner!"
Ms. Tsubasa and I made the tires of our Duel Runners screech before we drove from the start line. My Duel Runner may have a long frame, but Ms. Tsubasa's Duel Runner was slim and certainly had a better engine because she drove faster than me and took the first corner. I rounded the corner two seconds after her.
"Tsubasa from Team White Wind took the corner! Let's begin the Turbo Duel!" the MC announced.
"Duel!" Ms. Tsubasa and I called simultaneously.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP
Mizoguchi: 4000 LP
I drew the first five cards of my Deck and placed them on my Wrist Dealer. I got Musakani Magatama, Enishi, Shien's Chancellor, Double-Edged Sword Technique, Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, and Legendary Sic Samurai – Kageki. I could use these to Synchro summon on my turn.
"Let's spread our wings and fly! Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa yelled. "I summon Gusto Egul in defense mode!"
Gusto Egul, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 400
"Then I place one card facedown and end my turn!"
"My turn. Draw!" I called, drawing Breakthrough.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Mizoguchi: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
"I summon Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki in attack mode!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki, Level 3: ATK 200
"Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki's effect! When he's successfully summoned, I can Special summon a Level 4 or lower Six Samurai Monster from my hand. I Special summon the Tuner Monster, Kagemusha of the Six Samurai!"
Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 400
"When there's another Six Samurai with a different name on my field, Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki gains 1500 attack points."
Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki, Level 3: ATK 200 – ATK 1700
"I'm tuning Level 2 Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and Level 3 Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki! The true warrior will lead its comrades to victory by sacrificing himself! Synchro summon! Appear, Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, Level 5: ATK 2500
"Battle! Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, attack Gusto Egul!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En flew towards the little bird before drawing his katana. Gusto Egul shrieked in fear before my warrior slashed it into pieces.
"Gusto Egul's effect!" Ms. Tsubasa declared. "When it's destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard I can Special summon one Level 4 or lower non-Tuner Gusto Monster from my Deck! I Special summon Musto, Oracle of Gusto!"
Musto, Oracle of Gusto, Level 4: ATK 1800
I was prepared for that. Gusto Monsters had a similar effect as Mr. Crow's Blackwing Monsters, so it wasn't a surprise.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn", I called as I set Double-Edged Sword Technique and Musakani Magatama.
"My turn! Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa shouted.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Mizoguchi: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
"I play the Speed Spell – Angel Baton! I can activate it while I have 2 or more Speed Counters! I draw two cards from my Deck and send one from my hand to the Graveyard. I send Gusto Griffin to the Graveyard, which means his effect activates! If he's sent from the hand to the Graveyard, I can Special summon one Gusto Monster from my Deck! Join us, Winda, Priestess of Gusto!"
Winda, Priestess of Gusto, Level 2: ATK 1000
"Now I Normal summon my second Gusto Egul from my hand in defense mode!"
Gusto Egul, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 400
"I tune Level 1 Gusto Egul with Level 4 Musto, Oracle of Gusto and Level 2 Winda, Priestess of Gusto! The most powerful whirlwind will blow everything apart like the claws of an eagle! Synchro summon! Fly high, Daigusto Eguls!"
Daigusto Eguls, Level 7: ATK 2600
This is troublesome. Daigusto Eguls was 100 attack points stronger than my Shi En.
"Battle! Daigusto Eguls, attack Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En!"
The psychic bird screeched as it flew towards my warrior. He tried blocking the attack with his katana, but Daigusto Eguls easily broke it with its claws before it destroyed my Monster.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP = SPC 2
Mizoguchi: 4000 LP – 3900 LP = SPC 2
"And the first points of damage has been delivered to Mizoguchi, even though it was only a mere one-hundred", the MC commented.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn", Ms. Tsubasa called. "But! I activate Daigusto Eguls' effect during my End Phase! I banish one of my two Gusto Egul from my Graveyard to destroy one of your facedown cards, Mizoguchi! I choose the one in the middle!"
I got a little worried when Ms. Tsubasa activated her Synchro Monster's effect, but I relaxed as soon as I heard which card she had chosen to destroy. Daigusto Eguls flapped its wings and created a whirlwind that forced my facedown Musakani Magatama to flip up before it got destroyed. It was a relief she didn't pick my other facedown card.
"My turn. Draw", I called, drawing Swiftstrike Armor.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 3900 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
"I activate my Trap; Double-Edged Sword Technique!" I shouted. "I can Special summon two Six Samurai from my Graveyard in attack mode. Return, Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En and Kagemusha of the Six Samurai!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, Level 5: ATK 2500
Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 400
"The samurais have returned!" the MC commented. "Mizoguchi is probably gathering them for a big assault!"
"I tune Level 2 Kagemusha of the Six Samurai with Level 5 Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En! When two blades meet, the blade of loyalty will appear here! Be my loyal servant! Synchro summon! Appear now, Driven Daredevil!"
Driven Daredevil, Level 7: ATK 2400
"Next, I remove Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki and Kagemusha of the Six Samurai in my Graveyard from play to Special summon Enishi, Shien's Chancellor from my hand!"
Enishi, Shien's Chancellor, Level 6: ATK 2200
"I activate Enishi, Shien's Chancellor's effect! I destroy your Daigusto Eguls, but he cannot attack for the rest of this turn!"
Enishi drew his katana before he headed towards Daigusto Eguls. He raised his katana, ready to destroy the psychic bird when Ms. Tsubasa decided to intervene.
"I activate my Trap; Psychic Soul!" she called. "I Tribute Daigusto Eguls to gain Life Points equal to its Level times 300! That's 2100 Life Points!"
Daigusto Eguls transformed into green energy which Enishi's katana went through without making any damage. The green energy traveled to Ms. Tsubasa and increased her Life Points.
Tsubasa: 4000 LP – 6100 LP = SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 3900 LP = SPC 3
"Tsubasa sacrificed her Daigusto Eguls to increase her Life Points to a safer level", the MC commented.
"Battle! Driven Daredevil, attack Ms. Tsubasa directly!" I commanded.
My loyal Duel Monster didn't hesitate for one second to fly towards Ms. Tsubasa and slashed her with his two katana. The Solid Vision made it look like Driven Daredevil had attacked her, but she didn't sustain any injuries.
Tsubasa: 6100 LP – 3700 LP = SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 3900 LP = SPC 3
"And Tsubasa's Life Points that she had gained has been removed and are even with Mizoguchi!" the MC commented.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn", I called, setting Breakthrough and Swiftstrike Armor.
"My turn. Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa yelled.
Tsubasa: 3700 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Mizoguchi: 3900 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
"I activate one of my Traps; Dust Storm of Gusto! You cannot activate cards or effects when the Gusto Monsters I control declare their attacks this turn."
"In response, I activate my Continuous Trap; Swiftstrike Armor", I called. "During my Draw Phase, each time I draw a Six Samurai Monster card, I can reveal and Special summon it."
"Okay, but it won't stop me from activating my other Trap; Blessings for Gusto! I target three Gusto Monsters in my Graveyard; Gusto Griffin, Gusto Egul, and Daigusto Eguls. I shuffle back Griffin and Egul back into my Deck and then Special summon Daigusto Eguls to the field!"
Daigusto Eguls, Level 7: ATK 2600
"Battle! Daigusto Eguls, attack Enishi, Shien's Chancellor!"
Daigusto Eguls screeched as it flew towards Enishi with an aggressive behavior. It grabbed my Monster with its claws and crushed him into pieces. I grunted softly as the remnants of Enishi were thrown at me.
Tsubasa: 3700 LP = SPC 4
Mizoguchi: 3900 LP – 3500 LP = SPC 4
"Main Phase 2! I now activate Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage to you for each Speed Spell in my hand! I have Lightning Rod and Silver Contrails, so that's a total of 1600 points of damage!"
I held back a grunt as the lightning of Speed World 2 electrocuted me, forcing my Life Points down to below 2000.
Tsubasa: 3700 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 0
Mizoguchi: 3500 LP – 1900 LP = SPC 4
"Mizoguchi has suffered a large attack from Tsubasa this turn! Can he turn it around and make things even with a surprise comeback?" the MC wondered.
"I place one card facedown and activate Daigusto Eguls' effect during my End Phase!" Ms. Tsubasa called. "I banish Winda, Priestess of Gusto from my Graveyard to destroy your facedown card, Mizoguchi!"
Daigusto Eguls flapped its wings and created another whirlwind that headed towards my facedown Breakthrough. The powerful wind forced the card to flip up before it got destroyed. It was unfortunate to lose the Trap card, but I still had my Swiftstrike Armor face-up, so it was safe from Daigusto Eguls' effect.
"My turn. Draw!" I called, drawing Speed Spell – Angel Baton.
Tsubasa: 3700 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Mizoguchi: 1900 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5
I received a good card, but now I had an inner debate with myself. Should I use it to draw two cards and send one to the Graveyard or use it to inflict some damage to my opponent? What if I got two cards I needed and I had to sacrifice one of them? It would be best to wait one more turn.
"I activate Speed World 2's effect!" I shouted. "I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage with the help of my Speed Spell – Angel Baton!"
Ms. Tsubasa braced herself before she was electrocuted by the Field Spell's effect. It may just be a small amount of damage, but rather that than gamble with my cards.
Tsubasa: 3700 LP – 2900 LP = SPC 1
Mizoguchi: 1900 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 1
"I end my turn."
"My turn then. Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa yelled.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Mizoguchi: 1900 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
"Daigusto Eguls, attack Driven Daredevil!"
Daigusto Eguls flew towards my loyal Duel Monster with its sharp claws drawn. Driven Daredevil blocked the attack with his dual katana. Sparks erupted between the collision and some of it traveled to me as I sustained damage to my Life Points.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 2
Mizoguchi: 1900 LP – 1700 LP = SPC 2
"Driven Daredevil cannot be destroyed by battle when he's attacked by a Monster that has higher attack points. After damage calculation, the attacking Monster is destroyed!"
Driven Daredevil managed to push back Daigusto Eguls and jumped up with his katana raised. Before anyone could blink, he slashed Daigusto Eguls into pieces.
I heard how Ms. Tsubasa growled softly through the intercom before she resumed her turn. "Main Phase 2! I activate my Trap; Whirlwind of Gusto! I can only activate it while I control no Monsters. I target Musto, Oracle of Gusto and Daigusto Eguls in my Graveyard and shuffle them back to my Deck and Extra Deck. Then I Special summon a Gusto Monster with 1000 or less defense from my Deck. I Special summon Gusto Gulldo!"
Gusto Gulldo, Level 3, Tuner: DEF 500
"I place one card facedown and end my turn."
"My turn. Draw!" I called, drawing Six Samurai – Mizuho.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 1700 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
I know I had just drawn a Six Samurai Monster, but I decided not to activate Swiftstrike Armor's effect.
"I summon Legendary Six Samurai – Mizuho in attack mode!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Mizuho, Level 3: ATK 1600
"I activate my Trap; Icarus Attack!" Ms. Tsubasa called. "I Tribute Gusto Gulldo, which is a winged-beast Monster, to destroy two cards on the field! I choose Driven Daredevil and Swiftstrike Armor!"
Gusto Gulldo screeched as its body transformed into a large fire ball that threw itself first at Driven Daredevil before it bounced over to the face-up Swiftstrike Armor. Both my Monster and Trap card were engulfed by flames before they shattered into pieces.
"Gusto Gulldo's effect! When he's sent from the field to the Graveyard, I can Special summon one Level 2 or lower Gusto Monster from my Deck. I Special summon Gusto Egul!"
Gusto Egul, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 400
That stubborn Tuner Monster was back. I had to get rid of it and fast. It was time to use my Speed Spell.
"I play Speed Spell – Angel Baton!" I called. "I can activate it while I have 2 or more Speed Counters. I draw two cards from my Deck and send one from my hand to the Graveyard."
I drew the two top cards of my Deck and got Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan and Shien's Advisor. I had no use of Shien's Advisor now, so I discarded it.
"Because I have a Six Samurai Monster on my field, I Special summon Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan from my hand!"
Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, Level 4: ATK 1800
"Battle! Legendary Six Samurai – Mizuho, attack Gusto Egul!"
My first Duel Monster flew towards the little bird and used her dual kama to slash the creature into pieces.
"Gusto Egul's effect!" Ms. Tsubasa called, as I predicted. "When it's destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, I can Special summon a Level 4 or lower non-Tuner Gusto Monster from my Deck! I Special summon Musto, Oracle of Gusto!"
Musto, Oracle of Gusto, Level 4: ATK 1800
That Monster had the same amount of attack points as Kizan. If Ms. Tsubasa had a plan with Musto, I had to get rid of it from the field. This meant I had to make a sacrifice.
"Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, attack Musto, Oracle of Gusto!" I commanded.
Kizan drew his katana and flew towards the enemy. Musto quickly raised his wand and created a shield to try blocking the attack. The katana collided with the shield, causing violent sparkles to crack around us. Kizan managed to break through the shield and destroyed Musto with a slash of his katana, but he was then attacked by the psychic Monster's shield that used the wind to cut him into pieces.
"Mizoguchi sacrificed his Monster to clear Tsubasa's field from Monsters!" the MC commented. "This looks bad for Tsubasa! She needs to get at least one Monster to build up some defense, but if she draws a third Speed Spell and uses the Speed World 2's effect, she will win!"
Yes, the Master of Ceremonies was correct. My survival was depending on which card Ms. Tsubasa would draw on her next turn.
"I end my turn", I nodded.
"Let's see what my next card will be. Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa yelled.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Mizoguchi: 1700 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
I waited patiently to see what she was going to do. She was quiet for a couple of seconds before she began her turn.
"I summon Gusto Squirro in defense mode!" Ms. Tsubasa called.
Gusto Squirro, Level 2, Tuner: DEF 1800
So the card she drew was a Monster and not a Speed Spell. Perhaps I had a chance to survive and battle a little bit longer.
"I play the Speed Spell – Lightning Rod! I can activate it while I have 2 or more Speed Counters! I select one card I control and destroy it! I choose Gusto Squirro!"
What is the meaning of this?! Why would she destroy her own Monster?
"What is Tsubasa doing, destroying her own Monster?!" the MC gasped in shock.
A lightning rod appeared on the field before it fired a lightning bolt at Gusto Squirro. The little animal screeched in pain before it got destroyed.
"Gusto Squirro's effect!" Ms. Tsubasa shouted. "When it's destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard, I can Special summon one Level 5 or higher Gusto Monster from my Deck! I Special summon Windaar, Sage of Gusto!"
Windaar, Sage of Gusto, Level 6: ATK 2000
"Ah, so that was her plan!" the MC exclaimed. "Tsubasa sacrificed her Monster in order to Special summon a much stronger Monster from Deck! She's turned it around, so Mizoguchi better prepare himself for an incoming attack!"
"Windaar, attack Legendary Six Samurai – Mizuho!" Ms. Tsubasa commanded.
Windaar swung his scythe around before he flew towards Mizuho. My Duel Monster braced herself before she was slashed in two by the waist. She shrieked in pain before she exploded into pieces.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 4
Mizoguchi: 1700 LP – 1300 LP = SPC 4
"Windaar's effect!" Ms. Tsubasa continued. "When he destroys a Monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, I can Special summon one Level 3 or lower Gusto Monster from my Graveyard in defense position! I Special summon Gusto Squirro!"
Gusto Squirro, Level 2, Tuner: DEF 1800
"Main Phase 2! I activate Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage! I only have Silver Contrails left in my hand, so you'll survive this turn, Mizoguchi!"
I braced myself as I got electrocuted by the Field Spell once again. However, this time, my Life Points were now in the red zone.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 0
Mizoguchi: 1300 LP – 500 LP = SPC 4
"Mizoguchi is barely holding on with 500 Life Points!" the MC commented. "Next time Tsubasa has 4 Speed Counters, she will win this Duel or with her Duel Monsters! What might Mizoguchi do to counterattack?"
"I end my turn", Ms. Tsubasa called.
I nodded as I placed my fingers on top of my Deck. I needed to draw a good card to keep fighting and clear the path for Ms. Aki and Milady. It was my duty to serve and sacrifice myself for them, especially Milady.
My Deck… My cards… My Monsters… Answer my prayers!
"I draw!" I yelled, drawing the top card of my Deck.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5
I checked the card I had just drawn. It was Call of the Haunted. Exactly what I needed.
"I place one card facedown and end my turn", I said, setting my Trap card.
"So you might have a plan to keep on going, Mizoguchi?" Ms. Tsubasa chuckled.
"Yes", I replied.
"You don't like talking much, do you? Well, I don't mind that. Let's see what will happen next. Draw!"
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 6
"I summon Gusto Griffin in attack mode!"
Gusto Griffin, Level 2: ATK 800
"I tune Level 2 Gusto Squirro with Level 2 Gusto Griffin! Soar through the sky and deliver the message to the allies before the enemy strikes! Synchro summon! Appear, Daigusto Falcos!"
Daigusto Falcos, Level 4: ATK 1400
I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Why did she Synchro summon a weak Daigusto Monster?
"Daigusto Falcos' effect! When it's Synchro summoned, all Gusto Monsters currently on the field gains 600 attack points!"
Aha, that explained everything.
Windaar, Sage of Gusto, Level 6: ATK 2000 – ATK 2600
Daigusto Falcos, Level 4: ATK 1400 – ATK 2000
"Ow ow ow, this could be Mizoguchi's end! He better prepare himself for a huge assault!" the MC commented.
"It's time to finish it!" Ms. Tsubasa yelled. "Daigusto Falcos, attack directly!"
Daigusto Falcos screeched as it flew towards me. It was now or never.
"I activate my Continuous Trap; Call of the Haunted!" I yelled. "I can Special summon a Monster from my Graveyard in attack mode! I Special summon Driven Daredevil!"
Driven Daredevil, Level 7: ATK 2400
"Daigusto Falcos, stop the attack!" Ms. Tsubasa called in a panicked voice.
Just before her Monster could clash with Driven Daredevil, it flew up and made a circle as it flew back to its master.
"What a comeback! Mizoguchi lives on for one more turn thanks to his Call of the Haunted Trap card which allowed him to Special summon one of his powerful Monsters from his Graveyard!" the MC exclaimed in awe.
"That was a clever move, Mizoguchi", Ms. Tsubasa said. "I remember its effects, so I won't attack with Windaar, even though I know you'll still make some battle damage. I end my turn."
"Wise of you", I commented softly before drawing a card. "My turn. Draw!"
Tsubasa: 2900 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 7
The card was Speed Spell – Speed Storm. It appears my Deck truly had responded to my prayers.
"I begin my turn by activating Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage with Speed Spell – Speed Storm!"
Ms. Tsubasa gritted her teeth as the Field Spell dealt damage to her Life Points.
Tsubasa: 2900 LP – 2100 LP = SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 7 – SPC 3
"Next, I play Speed Spell – Speed Storm! I can activate it while I have 3 or more Speed Counters. I inflict 1000 points of damage to you!"
An electric whirlwind blew out of the Speed Spell card and engulfed Ms. Tsubasa. I could see her silhouette through the wind. She was struggling to keep her Runner straight through the storm. She endured the assault and was safe when the storm ended.
Tsubasa: 2100 LP – 1100 LP = SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 3
"Battle! Driven Daredevil, attack Daigusto Falcos!"
Driven Daredevil flew towards Daigusto Falcos and slashed its wings off before stabbing it through the chest. The falcon shrieked in pain before it shattered into pieces.
Tsubasa: 1100 LP – 700 LP = SPC 3
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 3
"Amazing! Mizoguchi has dealt over 2000 points of damage this turn, lowering Tsubasa's Life Points to below 1000! But we all know this Duel will come to an end next turn", the MC pointed out.
She was right. I had nothing that could protect me from Speed World 2's effect during Ms. Tsubasa's next turn. I have done everything I could to aid the ladies.
"I end my turn", I spoke softly.
"Okay. My turn. Draw!" Ms. Tsubasa called.
Tsubasa: 700 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Mizoguchi: 500 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
"You fought well, Mizoguchi, but my team is far superior to your team. I place one card facedown and activate Speed World 2's effect! I remove 4 Speed Counters to inflict 800 points of damage, and we all know the only card I have in my hand right now is Speed Spell – Silver Contrails."
Indeed, I remembered that. All I could do was to close my eyes and allow the Field Spell to zap my last Life Points.
I've done everything I could. Everything is up to you, Ms. Aki and Milady.
Tsubasa: 700 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 0
Mizoguchi: 500 LP – 0 LP = SPC 4
