AN: Ahh hah you thought it was safe, but instead you have me with a late large update! Not much to say about this one, first time getting to write combat for this fic, let me know if you like my style, as it will shift between characters. Each of the three protagonists have their own way of fighting and I'm going to try and emulate that with my writing
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_ Izuku + Shoto POV ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~
The chair Izuku found himself in was incredibly plush and turned this way and that easily allowing him to swing around and look at the room full of Pro Heroes. He could easily make out several A list heroes along with All Might in his deflated form sitting and talking amongst themselves. There were several other heroes present as well as a few kids around his age. It had been quite the shock to be led here by an assistant who already knew his name and where he was going. As Izuku fidgeted in the seat waiting for the Entrance Exam to begin he idly wondered if this many pro heroes always came to watch the exams. Where they always under this level of scrutiny? The thought gave him cold chills at the implications that they were being scouted from the very first entrance exam. The screen in front of them lit up finally signaling that the main event was about to start, Izuku quickly readjusted himself front facing with an extra notebook out, he figured if he was going to be here and watching he might as well start taking notes about his future classmates.
Shoto had to admit to himself that the people in charge certainly knew what they were doing, and definitely had the kind of pull that made his hair stand on end. In this room alone there were the top five heroes, including his dear father, along with several other popular heroes who had made names for themselves. The pure amount of power in the room made his head spin and he had to stop himself from getting antsy and icing over his chair on more than one occasion. The other major thing of note to Shoto were the other students, there were four other teenagers here. They were… interesting for certain.
The first was a tall raven-haired girl who seemed perfectly at ease surrounded by this level of fame, indicating, to him at least, that she must have come from a high-class lifestyle. She mingled easily with several of the female pros in the room laughing and joking with them with what seemed like practiced ease. He failed to notice any real physical changes to her figure implying that whatever her quirk was it must have been an external power, in fact he noticed that none of the teenagers around him had any kind of physical alterations to them. He idly wondered if it was normal for their Emitter Type quirks to be stronger than others.
The next boy was imposing to put it into a word. He made no attempts to talk to anyone, and those who ventured close to him received a glare that could put his father to shame. He was tall, already easily a three quarter of the way through five feet and probably still growing. Broad shoulders and well-developed arms lent him a powerful figure that could already easily put to shame some of the pros in the room. He would be a problem to deal with in melee combat based off of looks alone, let alone whatever his quirk may do to further enhance his combat prowess.
Third up was a short girl with auburn hair tied up in a messy bun who seemed, to Shoto at least, the most relaxed of everyone in the room by a wide margin. She sat in her chair with eyes closed and a serene smile on her face, if he had not seen the girl open her eyes whenever someone came nearby, he would wonder if she was not sleeping instead of obviously being awake. When someone did come within range and speak to her, she moved very animatedly and from the snippets of conversation he had picked up she seemed very intelligent in her own right and every person who left from speaking to her had a grin on their face. Shoto wondered how used to dealing with people she was considering the ease that she held so many conversations in such a short period of time.
The final boy in the room, may have perhaps been the most interesting or the most boring depending on how you looked at it. An unruly mess of black-green hair was the most obvious thing about him, but that failed to encapsulate or mention the roaming eyes that seemed to flit from one area to the next constantly taking in new info, or his short stature which allowed him to blend into the crowd around him quite easily. He had entered right after Shoto had and immediately made his way to the small animal shaped person at the control panel and held an animated conversation with him for a few moments while the room filled. As soon as the room filled with more people, he had made a hasty retreat into one of the chairs and quickly began openly inspecting everyone in the room, himself included. Only a few people came over to the boy, and with them he made polite conversation. It was easy to see he was nervous, Shoto could understand that after all this was the beginning of something exciting.
Finally, the screen at the front of the room flicked on and suddenly was filled with hundreds of individual cameras, each camera gave an individual view of what appeared to be a large city scape. At the bottom of each camera there was a letter and a number ranging from A-G and one through one hundred and fifty. Swiftly they were each handed a tablet that they could individually flip through the cameras their own leisure while the main screen was controlled by the rodent man who was all over the controls.
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~ Bakugo's Angry POV ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~
Bakugo sat quietly thorugh the orientation and paper test, while he felt he did okay it was difficult to keep a steady grip on his growing temper at the people around him. Already he noticed that quirks that could be used outside combat had an unfair advantage here, they allowed their user to gather information through a variety of means. He had already seen several interesting uses of quirks, that he had never thought of. If this was the caliber of people he was up against then that really got him excited! The test was average in difficulty he figured not exactly difficult, but you had to know your stuff or some of the trickier questions would get you. He had been sure of over eighty percent of the questions and he was fairly certain that would be enough when paired with the area he would really shine in, the practical exam.
They were loaded onto buses and driven a short distance away swiftly after the test had ended. He rubbed his palms together creating the friction that would jumpstart his nitro sweat. He didn't know exactly when this exam would start, but he would be ready and prepared for it. He did some stretches as the minutes dragged on really starting to work up a sweat just as he was starting to wonder if something had happened when it was called. Nothing fancy, no large explosion or fan fair just a sudden "START!" and the gates in front of them slammed open. The rest of the extras stood with stupid looks on their faces, but he was already charging through the open gate with a few others who had obviously been expecting a surprise start as he had.
He kept low to the ground tilting his body forward arms at the ready as he moved through the first wave of robots. Sliding under one he ignited his palm and blew away a chunk of its body causing it to fall behind him while using the momentum of the explosion to push him forward into the next robot. The next robot swung at him with its tail blade ready to skewer him through his mid-section, however Bakugo was ready for it. He swiftly jumped above the extended appendage and locked his hand onto his alternate elbow and then ignited his other palm. This caused the explosion to have more downward force, melting the robots metal casing and blasting Bakugo high in the air, allowing him to scout the area in front of him. He could already see a few students who had moved past the initial rush and were picking off targets in the back. Frowning he readjusted in midair with a small pop from his left hand launching himself down a side street where there was only one girl causing the robots to float in the air before crashing back down. Bakugo grinned, almost no competition then.
"Coming through!" he shouted as he prepared one of the moves he had been practicing. It took a fair bit of set up, but his earlier stretching and the growing adrenaline of the exam ensured he had plenty of sweat for this. "Perpetual Explosive Waves!" He shouted as he launched himself through the air and twisted his hands so they were facing opposite directions, one facing in front of him the other thrown behind him. His hands ignited continually as the sweat poured down his arms into his palms, forcing him to spin forward like a cyclone leaving a trail of explosions in his wake. When he finally landed, he stumbled and rolled on the cement before slamming into a car which stopped his momentum with an unhealthy sounding crack. He was happy though, as he stood and prepared to keep moving deeper into the city he glanced behind him at the absolute trail of destruction he had left in his wake, easily seven robots had been in his path and now they weren't much more than scrap parts littering the ground. Brutal and effective, just like he had planned.
He didn't pay much attention to any specific person except giving them cursory looks to ensure they wouldn't be in the way of his blasts. His path of destruction was long, and on more than one occasion he had to pour on more and more power to keep ahead of everyone else, but that was just fine for him. His quirk made this sort of long drawn out contest favor him heavily, the more he worked the more he sweated, the more explosions he could launch. A group of three pointers in front of him had somehow failed to see him, so he took a few moments to hide behind some cars. No matter how fit he was, he could already feel the way his joints were starting to ache and groan at the treatment he was laying on them. He grimaced to himself as he snuck behind the row of cars getting closer to the group of robots. The main drawback of his quirk was the continual strain on the joints in his hands and arms, along with the loud noises from his explosives. Once he was close he launched himself up and over the car he had hidden behind with physical strength alone placing him directly over top of the robots. He could feel the sweat running down his arms and off of himself, so he prepared another move he had practiced.
"PYROKINETIC DISASTER!" The resulting explosion from the sweat that had coated his arms and fallen on the robots under him was massive easily launching him thirty feet in the air. The sudden upward moment left him slightly nauseous as he tried to correct himself. When he landed, he did so with a flip to help dissipate the force of his extended travel time. He glanced at the area he had just blasted looking for any surviving threats the robots were gone, turned to molten metal in the blast. The cement hadn't fared much better honestly, it had been scorched and turned to blackened tar with the excessive heat. He moved quickly, not lingering on the feeling of his shoes sticking to the ground in the surrounding area. He didn't know how long it had been, so he had to keep racking up points.
When the ground began to shake, he feared he had walked into the path of someone else's quirk so he jumped upward using a small explosion to hover in the air for just a moment, however when he landed again everything was still shaking and the nearby buildings were groaning under the assault. He swung around wildly looking for the source, and oh boy did he see it. It was massive beyond imagination and was rolling right toward him. He turned to go, if he left now he could easily outrange it, that thing was clearly above his paygrade. No matter how strong he thought he was, he was definitely not suicidal.
"Oww!" Bakugo paused at the cry and whirled around as the dust cleared, he saw the girl from earlier in the side street now trapped with her leg being crushed by a pile of rubble, directly in the path of that monstrosity. He launched himself forward toward her where he attempted to lift the rubble
"Can you move?" He grunted out as he did his best to shift enough of the weight off of her leg so she could move.
"I…I think." She muttered as she pulled her leg out of the rubble "But I can't outrun that thing with a broken leg." She said with growing fear. Bakugo cursed internally as he realized she was right there was no way they would make it out of here in time. He briefly considered trying to carry her but didn't know if they would move fast enough. Coming to a decision he turned away from the girl his face set in determination, he had hoped to save this as an ace if there was a one v one knockout, but this was more important.
"Go." His voice rang out in an authoritative tone, she could see he was preparing something.
"What?! You'll get yourself killed facing down that thing!" The girl said with panic evident in her voice. Bakugo couldn't hear her through the blood that was roaring in his ears to loud, this was what it meant to be a hero. He had worked up enough sweat that he was drenched head to toe, he hoped it would be enough for his plan. He pointed his palms downward and ignited just enough sweat to get him airborne and moving forward.
"HEY, YOU STUPID MOVING SCRAP PILE!" The robot looked down at the swiftly moving speck and raised an arm to bat it out of the way when suddenly it changed direction, quickly launching itself even higher in the air above its punch.
"PLUUUUUUS ULTRAAAAAA! HOWITZER" Bakugo drew back his fist and prepared to unleash his most powerful blast yet. "IMPACT!" The resulting explosion knocked the robot backwards a fair distance and unbalanced it. While there wasn't any obvious damage to its exterior the resulting backward for caused it to tumble backwards, which was exactly what Bakugo had hoped for. Speaking of Bakugo he was now careening toward the ground at an insane speed passed out from the sheer force of the explosion he had released. It was probably for the best as if he were awake he would be aware of the whole pile of issues he suddenly had, the top of which being that his arm definitely was not supposed to bend that way, and secondly that he was going to hit the concrete at well past terminal velocity thanks to the force of the explosion he unleashed.
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_ POV SWAP IZUKU + TODORKI ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_
"KAC-CHAN!" Izuku shouted in worry as he saw his childhood friend about to hit the ground at well past lethal speed. He had launched himself out of his chair with enough force that when the chair struck the wall behind him it stayed their halfway buried in the wall. The shout and resulting crash of the soft chair slamming into the wall had drawn the attention of several in the room, Shoto included, who wondered at the obvious nickname and the extreme amount of force needed to implant something as flimsy as the chair into the wall. "Perhaps they know each other? And what is that insane strength?" he thought to himself as he turned back to the screen in front of him which had zoomed in on the falling boy. As he neared the ground there were several gasps and pointing fingers with whispers of "Look!". Shoto quickly searched the screen for what had caused this and was shocked as a young man with a bird shaped head and a black entity attached to him tackled the falling Bakugo out of the air after launching themselves from the third story of a nearby destroyed building. Suddenly the black entity surrounded them both forming a perfect orb of darkness which rolled along the ground for several seconds before coming to a stop almost one hundred feet from where it had started. When the darkness finally receded the bird boy was holding Bakugo gingerly in his arms looking at him with worry.
"Incredible!" Shoto heard that and several other similar comments as he stared at the screen in front of him. If that was a normal student, what could he expect from the other recommended students around him? What had he gotten himself into? He was dimly aware of a door slamming behind him, but he was so lost in thought that he failed to notice both the short boy who had shouted and the imposing figure of All Might had left the room.
"Have you practiced your super jumping like I told you to?" All Might said as he stood on the roof of Yuei with Izuku next to him.
"Yes! Now come on, I have to go check on Kac-chan!" Izuku said as he braced his foot against the raised edge of the building before he took a running start and launched himself through the air. It was neither graceful nor well executed, but it did get him to the next rooftop well over two hundred meters away. All Might landed beside him a moment later.
"Well done young Midoriya, but if I may make a suggestion, it would be faster if you held onto me, I can get us there with a single jump." Izuku nodded then, well aware that at the distance he had covered it would take several more jumps before he even got close. Izuku grabbed ahold of All Might and was suddenly aware that he was still no where near All Might's level as they flew through the air clearing easily ten times the distance he had before landing on the testing ground's medical building. Izuku wasted no time rushing through the roof access down to the front door where he waited for Bakugo to come through the door. When the doors burst open with Bakugo on a stretcher and the girl that had attempted to help Izuku that morning along with the bird faced boy who had saved Bakugo following behind Izuku immediately fell into step with them. Recovery Girl was already with them as they rushed down the hallway into an empty room where they were swiftly met with a closed door blocking their access, Izuku turned to the bird boy.
"Thank you so much for saving him! Bakugo is a friend and I don't know what I would do if he died, especially after doing something so heroic!" Izuku exclaimed with nervous energy.
"It was nothing, I simply was doing what was right, I could not in good conscience allow him to perish after he risked himself to save someone else. My name is Tokoyami Fumikage." His words were punctuated by his living shadow giving him a thumbs up.
"I recognize you!" The girl suddenly said from beside him which made both Izuku and Tokoyami flinch in surprise. "You were the boy from this morning! How did you know Bakugo hurt himself? I didn't see you in the testing ground or anywhere in the paper test." She said with obvious confusion on her face.
"Oh, I'm actually a recommended student, I have my own special test later, so I was invited to watch the main exam." Izuku explained easily "Izuku Midoriya, by the way."
"Ochako Uraraka." The girl swiftly introduced herself. "So, you're a recommended student, that must mean you have a pretty crazy quirk right?" She asked as they all sat down at a nearby bench to wait for any news.
Izuku blushed as he wasn't expecting the topic to turn onto him "Ah, yeah. It's called Dynamo. I can store energy in myself allowing me to exert amazing amounts of strength or passing it on to others to give them a boost for a short time." He explained.
"That is a most impressive power," Tokoyami said with an apprising look on his face "Does it work with other people's quirks? My own quirk is known as Dark Shadow, it allows me to manifest my own shadow as a sentient creature bound to me" He said gesturing to his shadow who bowed to them swiftly.
"Waaah! You guys have such amazing quirks! Mine is called Gravity Switch! It allows me to take away somethings gravity like flipping a switch, causing them to float off or become much lighter!" She said with wonder in her voice for the first part of her statement.
"It does," Izuku confirmed "Everyone's quirk reacts differently though, so I have to be careful if I ever give someone a boost in the field and I've never worked with them before. It could be very dangerous if their quirk reacts in a way they don't expect."
They continued talking for a few minutes before the door opened and Recovery Girl poked her head out. "Midoriya-san, if you are near your max capacity, I could use your assistance." Izuku jumped when his name was called unexpectedly, but he hurriedly stood and approached the door waving to his new acquaintances who both had a similar thought
"What could Recovery Girl need Midoriya for?"
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_ Bakugo's POV ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_
Pain, it was a constant reminder that the human body was not meant to withstand the things they put it through. Bakugo was acutely aware of this as he ground his teeth at the excruciating pain in his arm and shoulder where he had broken both of them saving that round-faced girl. He was currently laying down in a hospital bed trying not to move so he didn't aggravate his wounds any more than necessary. Recovery Girl had explained that she couldn't heal him anymore as she had already brought his stamina dangerously low just to wake him back up. He really couldn't argue with her as she was right, he felt like if he wasn't already laying down he would collapse into a heap on the floor. Already he had yawned several times while Recovery Girl explained how her quirk worked, halfway through the explanation her face shifted into one of surprise and she slapped her forehead lightly.
"Of course." She muttered to herself " Excuse me for one moment Bakugo-san" The little old lady walked over to the door and opened it sticking her head out and speaking for just a moment, he wasn't entirely certain what she said, but his eyes widened to ridiculous levels when a second later the door opened fully exposing none other than Izuku who walked in to the room.
"Kac-chan, your awake! Oh my gosh I was watching and that was insane, I had no idea that your explosions had gotten so strong, or that you could do something like that!" Izuku kept babbling away as Bakugo took in what he was saying. "He was watching him? Recommended student? Use his quirk on him?" It was a lot to process so he said nothing and simply nodded that he understood what Izuku would be doing even if the details were a bit difficult to process with the pain he was dealing with. Bakugo watched as Izuku neared him and held out his hand before placing it on Bakugo's shoulder. Almost instantly Bakugo felt like he had drunk an entire pot of his mom's coffee all at once. He felt twitchy and off, and the way his palms itched reminded him of his quirk activating.
"Thank you, dearie you can go back out to your friends now, I'll come get you when he is ready." Recovery Girl said to which Izuku nodded before waving to Bakugo and exiting the room. As the door closed, he saw Round-Face and some bird headed guy sitting on a bench outside obviously waiting for Izuku.
"I'm going to give you another dose of healing now, enough to fix your broken arm and shoulder. You will still be sore, but more than fit to walk around." Recovery girl said as she kissed his arm and he suddenly realized all of his pain was going away slowly. "You should thank that young man." She said as she began writing on the chart that sat on the end of his bed. "He appeared out of nowhere claiming to be your friend and wanting to help. I've worked with him in the past so I already knew what he could do. It's remarkable how useful his quirk is." She quickly finished writing on the chart and replaced it on its clip at the end of the bed "The other boy out there saved your life, you should thank him as well. He tackled you out of the air and made sure you didn't die when you landed."
Bakugo looked down at his hands as they twitched lightly. The silence stretched on for a moment, before he opened his mouth, yet no sound came out immediately. "Can I have a few minutes before you let them in?" he responded in a quiet voice. He had to collect his thoughts. Thoughts of how Deku was looking down on him, of how he had to be saved again, of how Deku had made himself useful even before he had become a hero.
It was fifteen minutes later when the door opened and the three were let in. Introductions were passed around, and conversations were had. Izuku excused himself shortly after, feeling the low thrum of hostility tempered with something else coming off of Bakugo while making the excuse that he had to get back to do his own exam.
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~Shoto's POV~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_
After all the excitement died down most of the pro heroes left, including his dad. What was left were, he assumed, the staff of UA. The boy with the green hair reappeared before too long panting slightly but looking in good health.
"All right, as some of you may know, I am the principal of the school, Nezu is my chosen name." The mammal shaped person said. "You all are here, because you have been recommended by some of society's best. They think you are worth some extra work, some merit to place you above the rest. We will be testing that today in a series of challenges. Your place in Yuei will be based off of how you do in these tests. They will be more difficult than the general exam, but how does the saying go? Challenge breeds character, character breeds strength? Anyway, if you will please follow me across the hall the written test will begin shortly. You will be observed by the staff during all tests. There will be no cheating or quirk usage." Nezu announced leading them from the large viewing room across the hall to a room with five desks set up. He motioned for the students to wait at the door as the teachers swept the room ensuring there were no tricks preset up to assist them.
"Shoto Todoroki, front left seat. Momo Yaoyorozu, front right seat. Inasa Yoarashi, back right seat. Nora Unmeikoi(1), back left seat. Izuku Midoriya, center seat." Nezu announced indicating each seat at he went through the list. "You have one hour to complete the written portion of the test."
The test was brutal, if Shoto was honest. Requiring long form math, abstract problem solving, and a good deal of scientific understanding. There was even an essay on heroism and what its part was in the eyes of the law that required at minimum three thousand words. He finished with less than three minutes remaining and looked up to find only Inasa was still writing, everyone else was done. He felt a bead of sweat roll down his neck, what kind of people was he dealing with here?
"Excellent work all, your tests will be checked and then totaled as part of your finishing grade. Next will be a short obstacle course, all five of you will be competing at the same time to reach the finish line. If you will follow me, you will enter the building that the course is in. You will not see the course before you start it, this is of course to test your real-life reaction time and problem solving." The walk down to the obstacle course was filled with tension, several times during the walk Shoto was certain he felt Inasa's eyes on him, but when he turned to face him he looked away.
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_ Izuku's POV ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_
Izuku glanced at the obstacle in front of him, a climbing wall for their first challenge, he could see several of the hand holds disappeared and reappeared in seemingly no immediate pattern which he thought would add some interesting outcomes, if he hadn't planned on skipping the wall entirely. He didn't know about anyone else, but he planned to barrel through this thing as fast and as hard as he could. Strategy would of course be useful, but sometimes brute strength was the right plan.
As the bell sounded signaling their start, he was surprised as the short girl with auburn hair sprinted right at the wall and every single handhold appeared in front of her. He blinked as she clamored up the wall. That's not to say any of the others were slacking, the raven-haired girl had a rope out of nowhere and was climbing as well. The large imposing boy literally flew up the wall sounded by a nimbus of cloud, and the boy with the scar made an ice ramp for himself. To anyone else, it seemed as if all 5 of the students rushed the wall at he same time but the crater Izuku formed when he jumped on top of the wall was easily the most unexpected way of doing the obstacle, down the other side was a rope swing through a set of hanging spinning items.
It continued like this for quite awhile, Momo was bringing up the end of the pack with Nora keeping a steady distance in front of her. Izuku was far ahead of the back two but far behind the pack leaders, leaving him comfortably in third place. It was neck and neck for first place from what Izuku could see when he managed to get high enough up. He heard the buzzer signaling someone had cleared the endline, and then immediately it rang again so he figured that the ending was a very close thing. He came in comfortably ahead of Nora and Momo, so he assumed he would be given a medium score, hopefully enough for him to get his place in Yuei. Roughly thirty seconds after he finished, Nora crossed the finish line, and perhaps twenty seconds after her was Momo bringing up the rear.
He offered both girls a bottle of water before saying. "I wouldn't worry about what place you came in, your quirks simply weren't effective for this type of exercise, surely they won't hold that against you." He said as way of greeting. They both spent a few seconds catching their breath before nodding and taking the bottles from him and drinking heavily. They talked for a minute or so before Nezu reappeared followed by Shoto and Inasa who were both glaring at each other venomously. Izuku quirked an eyebrow at this, but said nothing perhaps they had a history?
"Once again well done students you completed the track in more than enough time, and Izuku your guess was correct as well, neither of the girls will see drastic negatives considering their quirks do not lend themselves very highly to this type of race. I'm tempted to give you bonus points for being so analytical." Izuku had the decency to blush when everyone stared at him, but before he could say anything else Nezu started up again.
"The last test will be a spar vs the two possible homeroom teachers you may be assigned Eraserhead or Vlad King. You may choose your opponent and will be graded on your performance. Getting captured or disabled is not necessarily a fail considering you are facing two pro heroes with very successful records. Simply do your best. Oh, and these tests will be private, as to not give anyone who goes later an unfair advantage. You will be restricted from speaking about it until everyone has completed their assessment is that understood?" The sudden dark feeling surrounding the principal put the one Kac-chan gave off to shame in Izuku's opinion. When asked who they would like to fight, Inasa, Momo, and Nora all chose Vlad King, while Izuku and Shoto chose Eraserhead. They were all sent up to a large room with comfortable seats and a mini kitchenette and told to relax until they were called.
~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~ Battle Scene: Izuku vs Eraserhead~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~
Izuku stood across from Eraserhead stretching lightly, he was already prepared and had stretched in the relaxation room, but if he could make his opponent think he wasn't ready then catch him off guard then it may be an advantage that gives him an edge. It was fast Izuku realized as he ducked under the extended capture tool that had just launched itself at chest level. Izuku quickly grabbed ahold of it and channeling 5% of OFA proceeded to man pull Eraser head to him where he engaged him in a series of jabs and feints that failed to strike Eraser head at all as he dodged out of the way of every punch.
"Good reaction, but you're predictable." Eraserhead announced as he swept Izuku's feet out form under him causing the boy to drop forward. Izuku however immediately came up with a counter and stuck his hands out in front of him and reverse spring kicked at Eraserhead who was not ready for the empowered kick to the chest which sent him sliding backwards. "Perhaps, I spoke to soon." His opponent conceded placing himself in a ready stance once again.
Izuku kept a watchful eye on Eraserhead as he sprung back up to his feet. He circled closer to his foe's right side but was met with a fist to the shoulder and a follow up round house kick to the chest which left him gasping for air. Izuku tried to counter by grabbing ahold of the foot that had made contact with his chest, but the air being driven from his lungs quickly made him give up that plan and instead decide to feint a quick left punch before sliding backward making room. Eraserhead gave him no time to rest however chasing him doggedly and harrying him with blows from odd directions and the occasional launch of his capture tool. Frustration was evident on Izuku's face as he tried to come up with a plan, one good hit would buy him time to catch his breath, but landing it was not that easy of a task. Finally after Eraserhead launched a fist that went just a little wide Izuku capitalized ducking in close to Eraserhead's guard and lighting up his arm with a 10% burst of power. The resounding crunch as his fist impacted the man's chest was satisfying, but Izuku took no time to celebrate, immediately after landing the blow which had shoved Eraserhead back he made tracks ot the far side of the room.
"He sure does pack a punch for a kid" Aizawa thought to himself as he held his very bruised ribs. "He's fast and he thinks well on his feet, knows when to measure his aggression and when to really punish someone." After forcing his breathing to a more regular cycle Aizawa look across the small arena at his opponent who was gripping the arm he had punched him with. "So he may be able to dish it out, but he still doesn't have full control yet. Well I guess I'll have to exploit that."
Izuku was clutching his wrist in pain his breath coming out as a hiss at the pain of using a 10% punch so suddenly. Still his plan had worked, he had made space and regained his breath from the short exchange. He readied himself as he saw Eraserhead launch forward once again, hopefully he would be able to his smaller size against the man again, but he doubted Eraserhead would allow him that luxury twice in a row. Suddenly eraser head was on top of him no longer were the blows to force him to move, instead they were strike at his already pain infused limb. "jerk." Izuku muttered as he just dodged a jab aimed at his wrist by less than an inch. The speed of the blows coming at him were overwhelming him and he knew if he didn't do something soon Eraserhead would land a decisive blow, it was with that thought in mind that he made his next plan.
The fight had already gone on for three long minutes and the advantage was definitely to the pro hero who was raining blows down on his younger opponent. That's why when Eraserhead stopped throwing punches the observers, made up of All Might, Midnight, Nezu, Present Mic, Cementos, and Recovery Girl, were very surprised. They were even more surprised when the two combatents shifted enough to see that Izuku had taken a hard blow to the face, but immediately wrapped his arm around Eraserhead's not allowing him to escape. The boy had taken a possible devastating blow, for this strategy.
"DELAWARE SMASH!" Izuku screamed as his other fist crashed into Eraserhead's face while simultaneously letting go of his arm. This allowed his opponent to go flying into a nearby wall with thunderous force. The crumpled form of Eraserhead slid down the wall and landed in a heap facing Izuku who looked horrified at what he had done. Eraserhead smiled at the boy assuaging his fear quickly muttered a "God job kid." And promptly passed out. Izuku immediately raced over to the teacher and was met there momentarily by Recovery Girl who, along with Izuku, revived and healed Eraserhead who said nothing as he nodded at them both before leaving the room. Izuku's horrified look remained on his face as he walked back into the relaxation room and collapsed into one of the chairs. The others in the room did not know what had caused the look, but each of them gained a determination born from the despair that Izuku was showing.

When Shoto was called down next to the arena he expected to see Eraserhead at least a little roughed up, to see him in perfect health, and the crater in the wall did not fill him with great confidence, but he mental shrugged it off. He was here to prove himself. As soon as the match started he immediately tapped his foot on the ground releasing a wave of expanding frost which he used to hasten his approach. He unfortunately failed to take into account that Eraserhead could do the same thing to him. The pro reached him at speeds that left Shoto's head spinning as he was laid out on his own Ice sheet. He grunted as he swung himself up ward and tried launching several dulled blades of ice at eraser head who casually dodged them without even looking at Shoto. This continued for some time Shoto launching attacks with his ice quirk and Eraserhead dodging them. Finally, Shoto became frustrated enough that he slammed his foot on the ground intending to create a glacier but found that nothing happened. The end result was Shoto looking up to see Eraserheads fist roughly an inch from his face. When he hit the ground, his head rebounded twice off of the thick ice he had created below him. "You have the opposite problem the other one had, no control and all you do is use your quirk. Get up and fight" Todoroki let out a shaking breathe that misted as he crawled to his feet and took a ready stance. He took a moment to coat his fists in ice, but a moment is all he had time as suddenly Eraserhead was on top of him. The blows came fast at first, which he was able to block with his ice gauntlets, but soon he found fists flying at him from unexpected angles that he couldn't predict let alone block. After a particularly nasty knee to the stomache he made contact with the ground with his foot and started moving. Eraserhead kept up his pursuit but now found it much more difficult to strike the boy as he moved in circular patterns at time launching punches other times small hard to see clear ice struck him in the chest and even once in the face. "Good kid Good!" Shoto quirked his eyebrow at the praise, only to find himself getting wrapped up in Eraserhead's capture tool and spun into the wall with a fair bit of force. "Don't get distracted, we stop when you give up or I say so."
The impact with the wall was not good for him, his vision was all over the place and he found it difficult to keep his balance on the ice, a skill he normally had in aces. He didn't last much longer than that, he slipped back into his previous style of dodging and taking pot shots when he realized that he couldn't feel his hand or his arm at all. He quickly signaled that he was done, gesturing that he could barely move as he was covered in so much frost. He was met with a frown from Eraserhead and a curt dismissal.
