"And what? Are you going to take me to bed?" she heard footsteps walk up behind her and she frowned, "I've been thinking about that day…you know…on the island when you saved me and Yuzuru…and…why didn't you just pick one of us, Shido?"
"Because if I had, then the other would've disappeared leaving the winner in a state of depression that no amount of time will fix," Shido stood next to her and stared up at the night sky with her, "And you know I can't stand it when people around me die…look how messed up I was when Mayuri disappeared after Sealing her,"
"And why are you like that?" Shido hummed and looked at her in confusion, "Why do you try and save everyone around you, even if you don't know them, and then shut yourself off from the rest of the world when you fail to save someone?"
"It's stupid…when Kotori's family adopted me, our parents made me promise to protect Kotori, as if we were really siblings, and once I know she's safe, try to help as many people as I can…I thought that was a lot for an 11-year-old kid, but I swore that I would, and I'd make sure Kotori was safe before anyone else…but…there were times when I couldn't help everyone around me and I felt like I let my parents down…like they would've been better off adopting some other kid an-" before he could finish, he felt Kaguya slap him.
Shido looked at her as Kaguya sighed and shook her head, "You idiot…they adopted you because they saw that you needed a loving family, and just because you can't protect everyone doesn't mean you let them down and that you should feel some sort of way…you kept your promise to them and kept Kotori safe this whole time and I'm sure they care more about that than a few people on the streets."

"And how would you think Kotori would feel if she lost her big brother all because of something stupid like that?" Shido frowned as Kaguya continued, "She'd without a doubt go Inverse…and to be honest…I think we all would…none of us want to see you hurt, Shido…stop shutting yourself out whenever you can't safe some people and talk to one of us…you're here for us, we know, but you should know that we're here for you too,"
Shido inhaled slowly before he nodded, "Yeah…you're right, Kaguya,"
"Of course I am," Kaguya smirked, "And as payment, you will treat me to some ice cream,"
"Uh…Kaguya, it's the dead of winter…no one is serving ice cream right now,"
"Okay then, hot chocolate," she grabbed Shido's hand and began pulling him towards the door.
