The next morning y/n woke up to get ready for school. She buttoned her shirt, slipped on her skirt and socks, and threw on her blazer. y/n twirled around in her full body mirror, seeing how she's ready to hit on the road and daze out in all of her classes.
"I wonder if Yuji is sleeping…" y/n pondered to herself as she kind of forgot she had him here. "Out of all the people Satoru knew, he came to me? I think Nanami would've been a better choice." Y/n sighed before leaving her bedroom.
As y/n was in the hallway, she smelled a delicious aroma dancing up her nostrils. The savory smell made her stomach turn, signaling y/n that she's hungry.
"Oh? Is Yuji cooking?"
Y/n quickly ran to the kitchen and saw Yuji in a red apron as he's making omelettes at the stovetop. He didn't notice y/n's head peeking through the door frame. Yuji's full attention was making the omelette perfect without any burns. His intense brown eyes carefully watched and timed the food as his hand fiddled with the spatula. Y/n noticed a bento box at the corner of the counter and two plates as well.
Is he making us breakfast? For sure he is right? There wouldn't be two plates if he was making it for himself. Y/n questioned, eyeing the plates filled with other types of food.
"Hey, why are you up early in the morning?" Y/n asked, alerting Yuji as his eyes quickly flickered to her.
A casual smile painted his face. "Oh, I'm just used to waking up this early. I don't know how to spend my time now that I'm pronounced 'dead' in the world." Yuji finished the omelette and plated it. "Plus, I didn't think it'd be a bad idea to make food for the both of us." He twinkled y/n a sweet smile as she awkwardly nodded her head with her lips pursed. "Come on, eat before you go to school!"
Y/n sucked at human interaction and reciprocating feelings.
"I-if you say so," y/n said, clearing her throat as she came inside the kitchen to take her plate. Y/n noticed how clean and tidied the room was. Just yesterday, it looked like a mess with crumbs and dust everywhere.
I guess he cleaned the kitchen. It looks spotless now. Maybe he can be of use in this house.Y/n said to herself as she headed to the dining table which was also shiny from Yuji's cleaning.
Y/n hurriedly ate her breakfast, and to her surprise, she didn't realize how good of a cook Yuji was. It was seasoned well and cooked thoroughly. It's been so long since y/n had delicious food. She's been living off of pre-made food that she got used to the bland taste.
He really is a housewife. Maybe I should make him cook if he's going to stay here for free. Y/n thought to herself.
"So how is it?!" Yuji sat across from her as his eyes enlarged, showing fear and anticipation of y/n's critique. He knew that his cooking wasn't bad since Megumi and Nobara always ate it with no complaints. His heart sped up, waiting for y/n's answer.
Each heart beat felt like an eternity. Y/n hasn't said a word after hearing his question. She gave him a long stare as she propped her face with her hand at her jaw. Her eyes bore right into his soul.
"It's not bad. I haven't eaten this good for a long time." Y/n smirked, readjusting her position in her seat as she slouched. "I've made up my mind." Y/n set down her eating utensils. "Cook and clean under this house until Satoru comes and picks you up. You aren't going to live here for free." She said in a menacing tone. Just because she's young and the only person in this house doesn't mean she's not the owner.
"Yes!" Yuji easily complied because it wasn't as hard as it sounded. He knew he could've had it far worse but to him, it was a fair deal. Yuji doesn't have a problem doing those two tasks since he took care of his grandpa before his passing. He's already husband material.
When y/n stood up from her seat to leave for school, Yuji immediately stopped her. "Wait, you forgot your lunch!"
y/n arched her brow from his sudden words. So the bento box was for me? He didn't have to make me food when we just met. y/n thought.
"Aren't you so kind today? We barely even know each other and yet—"
"I just left like it, especially when you're letting me live with you. In essence, I'm finding ways to repay you back for your hospitality." Yuji chuckled, handing y/n her lunch. "It's not a bad thing to be nice to others. Have a good day at school!"
y/n didn't know how to react to his act of kindness; however, it touched her heart that someone actually cared about her rather than her own family but an outsider who barely knew her. A warm yet foreign sensation settled in her chest as she didn't know what it was. She never felt like this before, but she didn't want to think too much either or else it'll hurt her head. Overall, y/n appreciated Yuji's gift.
In the train y/n rode to school, she admired the cutely wrapped bento box. It reminded her of her parents. They used to do this for her before their death. It brought old memories which she tucked away to prevent herself from hurting. y/n hated the thought of thinking about her parents or even bringing it up because they could've been alive if they weren't driving on the mountain.
"Hmm… I never really asked him why he ate the finger." She thought out of nowhere.
Meanwhile at the house, Yuji was busy cleaning every crook and cranny of all rooms. He didn't want his lungs to be filled with bad air. He wasn't ready to have a smoker's lungs just by living in the dirty house. He was breaking a sweat by moving around and wiping things down with chemicals.
"Geez… How did she manage to survive this long in this house? I could barely sleep knowing a rat could be sleeping right next to me!" Yuji mentally cried.
He was wide awake during the night, cleaning the guest bedroom because he felt so grossed out by it. It took him the whole night for his room to be squeaky clean, and he doesn't regret being restless either.
Yuji put his back into everything as he scrubbed down counters and the floor. He's going to make sure that when y/n comes home, she won't be able to recognize anything.
"Is y/n a sorcerer? Sensei never really told me much about her. She's so mysterious and quiet." Yuji thought back to when he met y/n. She totally reminded him of Megumi. They were both quiet and a closed off person, but Yuji knew she was thorny and blunt than Megumi. "I guess I'll have to ask her once she's back. But for the meantime, I should finish cleaning."
Yuji zoomed through all the rooms until he stood in front of y/n's room. A tight expression took over his face as he didn't know whether or not he should even go inside. He knew a girl's room is different compared to a boy's room. If he were to enter, he would face death but he didn't want y/n to sleep in a poor condition either.
"Should I? Should I even attempt? I'm only cleaning the ground and any kind of trash. I'm not a pervert who's going to steal panties." Yuji shivered from the future misunderstanding. He has his own dignity to uphold, and he knows he's a good person at heart. Yuji's heart told him to clean it regardless while his mind said it's a trap. "Well it won't hurt to clean what's visible…"
When it was lunch time for y/n, she went to the rooftop to eat. y/n opened her bento box Yuji made and smiled to herself as the strong and sweet aroma filled her nostrils like this morning. "If it smells good, it's going to taste good!" y/n excitingly said to herself as she devoured her meal. y/n's taste buds were going to heaven. There were so many flavors hitting her tongue to the point where she's about to cry in joy. She really liked Yuji's cooking because it made her feel so nostalgic and a bit happy. y/n hasn't been happy for a long time, not even her grandma could fix it. y/n's been living life like a mindless person who just has to survive until death comes at their door.
Coming back home from school, y/n entered her house to find everything clean. The furniture was twinkling as well as the floors. It shocked y/n as she didn't expect Yuji to clean her whole house while she went to school.
y/n's fingers grazed the coffee table in the living room and there wasn't any dirt tracking her fingers. "Hmm, not bad. His cleaning skill is just as impeccable as his cooking. At least I didn't have to do it."
y/n peeked in all the rooms in the house, seeing how brand new it looked and smelled. She couldn't help but feel amazed by how fast he worked. It only took him half the day to clean the house.
"Should I praise him?" She asked herself, trailing to her bedroom. "I don't have anything else to reward him." y/n grumbled as she grabbed onto the doorknob of her bedroom and turned the handle to find it clean too. Her floor was no longer cluttered with trash, her bed was nicely made, and everything looked organized as if she went to the bedroom section of ikea.
Although she's supposed to feel appreciative of Yuji's hard effort, y/n couldn't help but feel fearful and disgusted.
He might have a good guy appearance, but he might be a little pervert inside. People always say be wary of nice guys, and Yuji is one of them. Perhaps he did some snooping after cleaning and looked at things which will arouse his nasty needs.y/n felt livid. It's mostly because she doesn't know the dude at all. It really didn't hit her that she's living with a stranger, and that stranger can do anything to her.
y/n sighed heavily, touching her irked head. "I'm going to...have a talk with him…" she set out to find Yuji in the house after she changed out of her school uniform.
Walking around the house, she found Yuji cooking dinner as she obviously expected. "Hey, I see that you cleaned the house while I was at school." y/n said in a snappy tone, crossing her arms as she glared at him. She wasn't hiding her hostile feelings brewing inside of her. y/n didn't want to fully attack him and rip off his neck because she was going to scare the poor dude away, so she 'toned' down her attitude.
Yuji, on the other hand, started sweating from her direct confrontation. What did I do?Yuji thought to himself, as he tried his best to compose himself under her pressure.
"Y-yeah I did! Did I do something wrong?" Yuji nervously asked, turning off the gas stove and giving y/n his full attention. His heart was racing a mile away, not knowing what's going to happen to him. He didn't want to get kicked to the streets either.
Then it hit him, his eyes wided. He totally forgot that he had cleaned her bedroom without her permission. "Y/n, I swear I'm not a pervert!" He shook his hands in front of himself.
"Oh, so you knew why I sought you out huh?"
Yuji gulped from her octave dropping and her menacing aura increasing in size. "I know I shouldn't have but I did! I'm sorry!" He clasped his hands together, pleading for mercy. He doesn't want to fend for himself. He doesn't want to bother Gojo since he did so much for him already, and he doesn't want to be killed again without eliminating Sukuna from this world.
Yuji explained his action while y/n listened to him.
y/n nodded her head, understanding his point of view. All he wanted was to keep her health in a good area so she doesn't have to go to the doctor. But y/n still couldn't help but feel like he's a closet pervert.
Chewing the inside of her cheek, y/n flapped her wrist so Yuji could stop talking. "I get it, I get it! I'll let it pass, you closet pervert! I'll keep an eye on you." y/n fiercely glanced at him before whipping out her phone, calling Gojo.
"Hey! I'm not a closet pervert!" Yuji objected, feeling so misunderstood over cleaning her dirty room.
"Satoru, enroll Yuji in my school asap."
"Oh? Why is that?" Gojo questioned.
"You really think I'm going to let a stranger stay in my house while I'm out? God knows what he's doing in there." Y/n's eyes flickered to Yuji who looked displeased from her conversation with Gojo. "It's better to be safe than sorry the hell. Send him the uniform before nightfall. I'm expecting it soon. Bye."
Once y/n ended the call, Yuji jumped on her as he was confused. "Do you think it's a good idea for me to go to your school? What if—"
y/n cut him off, pushing Yuji away from her personal space. "Of course you'll be fine! Nobody will know who Yuji Itadori is or whether he's dead or alive. You're just overthinking this because you're paranoid as hell. Besides, if you're scared that some cursed users or spirits are going to hunt you, just holler and I'll be there to help." y/n shrugged her shoulders. "And I need to get some people off my backs at school too… they're annoying no matter how much I push them away…" she mumbled, hating her school life. Y/n's oddly popular despite not socializing. Girls envied her, boys chased after her; y/n can't catch a break. She's going to use Yuji to save herself.
"So are you a sorcerer?"
y/n grinned from ear to ear. "Indeed I am, and I hate it. I am the pinnacle of this jujutsu society because I'm the descendant of Kameko, mother of jujutsu and who defeated Ryomen Sukuna. I hold power and authority in our closed society, not even the higher ups can rival against me. I'm just too powerful that I break the system. Because I'm born with the power to maintain balance, my life is always in danger." y/n had a downcast expression taking over as her heart beat ceased.
Over many years, y/n pinned the blame on herself for causing her parents' death. If she had never been chosen to hold Kameko's power then her parents wouldn't have died. Her birth had alerted all sorcerers and curse users, and the price of her head has totaled over trillions of yen till this day. Who wouldn't want that much money? So of course curse users would want to take her out even if it meant her family dying too. Gojo concluded that the car accident at the mountain was just a set up to kill y/n, but it backstabbed them since y/n had survived the attack.
"I try to live in freedom, hence why I'm not involved in any kind of jujutsu activities. It's already a burden to be alive and hold so much power at a young age, but I can't hide for long either. They're going to need me, especially when Sukuna has a vessel."
Yuji felt his heart throbbed from what she said. He could feel the anguish leaking from her words even though her face wasn't showing her true emotion. He understood her problem and felt kind of responsible for it because he ate Sukuna's finger, yet at the same time he didn't or else Megumi would've died that day.
"I'm sorry I'm causing you stress." Yuji apologized, hanging his head low before rising up and intensely staring in her eyes. He resembled a fearless man who doesn't regret his choices in life. His brown eyes were sharp yet amiable, telling y/n that Yuji's conviction was going to be weak. "But I ate his finger to protect my friends."
Y/n recalled the story very well. He ate Sukuna's finger to protect Megumi and his two friends from getting killed by a cursed spirit. "You're courageous, but now you face death. Aren't you scared? You're young and have a whole life ahead of you... yet you chose to throw it away to save Megumi, a sorcerer who has the ability to exorcise curses, whereas you had zero ability to do so? Why? Why sacrifice yourself when Megumi could handle it? I'm curious." She pulled the wooden dining chair to sit in, wanting to hear his extravagant reasons.
"Because my grandpa told me to be surrounded by people—"
"Bullshit!" y/n banged her fist on the table, startling Yuji in the process. "How are you going to be surrounded by people if they're going to die because of you." She didn't like how optimistic he was when she knew the consequences and reality being Sukuna's vessel will bring to this world. "What will you do when you're unable to protect the people you love and care for? Cry at their funeral? Or accept that you caused their death by consuming the demon who killed everyone?"
Yuji flinched from her harsh and cold words. He knows she's speaking of the truth, however, it has never occurred to him. He hadn't been put in a position where the butterfly effect had sprouted. Yuji bit his lips, unable to speak as his mind couldn't defend himself from the jarring wave of reality.
He's too naive. He saved Megumi, a stranger he met that day, and decided to eat a cursed object. What a fool to think fate would just slap him on the wrist and tell him that everything was going to be alright...but it's never going to be 'alright'. He's going to face more upbringings than he'll ever know. y/n sighed to herself as watching Yuji tired her out. She already knew he wasn't ready for this path because he's weak due to his view implemented by his grandpa. He lacked real turmoil and backbone. Not everything was going to be all easy with flowers growing in the background. Lots of blood will be shed in this tittering battle between sorcerers and curses. It has always been like this for decades.
BONK!
"Ouch!" y/n winced from the sudden hit to her head as she rubbed it to soothe her pain.
"Why are you bullying Yuji?" It was none other than Gojo who intruded the house without y/n's approval. Then Gojo turned his attention to Yuji, quickly babying him and checking if he had any cuts or bruises on his body. "Did she hurt you? I know she's a crazy beast."
y/n's eyes twitched from Gojo calling her a beast. She was ready to murder Gojo then and there. "Oh? Assuming you listened into our conversation, why are you protecting him from the truth? Out of all sorcerers, even you know he's going to bring destruction and mayhem isn't that why the higher ups want to kill him? How will he handle the truth if you're coaxing him that everything will be okay and he's not to blame? Because I'm telling him the reality of his actions and his weak conviction—lives will be lost. If you think consuming Sukuna's finger will prevent many deaths then prove me wrong. You will lose yourself and your innocence when it's all over. Your hand will be soiled. In due time, tell me if there's anyone left to surround your pitiful life…"
Y/n stood up from her seat and left, leaving Yuji in a distraught state.
"Listen Yuji," Gojo placed a hand on his dejected shoulder. "What y/n is saying is true. I know it's harsh and hurtful hearing it from her, but she doesn't mean any harm. She just sucks with her words and tone of voice."
Yuji lifted his head and stared at Gojo with sadness brimming his eyes. "I… I know, and it's leaving me in a rut. Has y/n always been this brutal and cold?" He didn't want to think too poorly of y/n but it just kept getting harder. He feels like he's always hitting a dead end with her. Yuji's barely knowing y/n. He has a gut feeling that whatever he does or says, it will trigger her to blow up. There's no chance of him being close to her when there's a big barrier between the two.
Gojo was silent, thinking how he should tell him. He didn't want to say too much because it's y/n's job to open up and let people in her life. "...yes she has. She doesn't have friends so her social skills are bad as you can tell. However, all I can say is that she had a rough childhood so go easy on her delicate heart."
Yuji couldn't understand why Gojo described her heart as delicate whereas he would say detached was the better term. But then again, Gojo would know y/n better than Yuji himself. "Right. I'll try my best, but I can't promise you she'll open up to me."
"Don't worry. I have faith in your abilities." Gojo smiled, handing him his new school uniform to y/n's high school.
