The Little Mermaid (Mako Mermaid style)
Chapter Two: Meeting Rita
Ariel was really grateful to Zac for allowing her to crash in his boathouse, but she was worried that he would get in trouble with his parents or his girlfriend, so she wanted to find a place to lie low A.S.A.P. once the weekend was over she noticed that that Zac seemed to be getting ready for something.
"Where are you going?" she asked. Zac smiled.
"I am going to school" he replied. Ariel frowned, she knew that she needed to blend in to the human world.
"can I tag along?" she asked. Zac shrugged.
"Sure" he said. "but you can't really wear that" he said, pointing to the outfit that she was wearing. "hold on" he ran into the house and came back with pants and a tank top. he told her to put the tank top on over her purple top. Once Ariel was dressed and her hair brushed, she followed Zac to school, where they met up with Evie and Cam. Evie was not sure what to think about her boyfriend walking to school with a pretty red head.
"Whose your friend?" Cam asked.
"Ariel" Zac replied, "She's an exchange student so i was showing her where the school is" he turned to Ariel.
"Can you find the office by yourself?" he asked, "I gotta get to class" Ariel nodded and waved the trio off. It took a while but she eventually found the office and entered it. the receptionist looked up.
"Do you have an appointment?" she asked. Ariel used her mermaid powers to bypass the receptionist and entered the Principal's office, prepared to do some more magic to get enrolled in the school.
the Principal looked up from her desk and Ariel froze.
"M...Mother..." she stammered. The principal smiled gently.
"I am not your mother," she said quietly, "but I am Athena's twin sister" Ariel felt like she couldn't breath. No one had told her that her mom had a sister, let alone a twin.
"Why weren't you there!" Ariel demanded, "Where were you when my mother died? Where were you when my whole family was captured" At this, the woman's eyes flashed.
"I was banished" she said. "I was banished by Athena's father in law for falling in love with a human" she said. "I had no idea about Athena or your family" Ariel nodded. "tell me what happened" so Ariel told the whole story including the part about Zac.
"And you have no idea where your father hid the trident?" Rita asked. Ariel shook her head.
"OK, I will enroll you in the school and as you are my niece, you are welcome to live with me" Ariel smiled brilliantly. After school, Ariel met up with Zac and his friends again and asked for a word in private. Evie glared daggers at her as she and Zac moved out of earshot.
"What's up?" Zac asked. Ariel explained that Rita was a mermaid and was her aunt so they had one more person they could go to if they needed to. Zac smiled and Ariel told him that she was moving in with her aunt. he gave her a hug and watched as she walked away.
"What was that all about?" Cam asked. Zac shrugged.
"her living arrangements were finalized, and she was just telling me she was going to stay with Principal Rita" he told them. Evie frowned, still jealous of the red head.
"Lets go get a Juice at Rikki's" she suggested. Cam and Zac were okay with that, and Evie's shift started in an hour any way., so they headed to the café. Zane Bennet still owned Rikki's but he was barely ever there these days, mostly going on diving explorations with his on again/off again girlfriend Rikki. The Manager was a teenager named David so the cafe was only open from 4-10 and all day weekends and holidays. As they entered the cafe, they noticed Ariel was already there, talking to David. After she left, David came over to them and told them that Ariel would be singing at the cafe for extra pocket money. Evie groaned inwardly, not wanting to see Ariel more than she had to.
When Ariel got to Rita's Rita showed her a secret grotto that was underneath her house. it was the perfect place for Ariel to crash.
"Thank you so much" Ariel said happily. Rita smiled at her. Now all they had to do was find that trident.
