You found the nearest train to hop on. It's going to take you an hour to get to your old school since you were in the countryside of Japan. You were having a hard time breathing as your knee rapidly bounced off the ground. Your heart craved to understand the details of this event. You couldn't understand how Junpei could be involved with the jujutsu society. Grabbing your phone, you dialed Nanami's number so he could give you a thorough explanation on your train ride there.
"Nanami-san, give me a rundown. I need to know what's going on!" Your body was shaking in anxiety and fear. This was perhaps the first time you felt like this, and it's all because you're worried about Yuji. If he hadn't entered your life, you would've been fine not caring about your sorcery path.
When Nanami told you what he knew, you couldn't believe it. Junpei might be involved with a cursed spirit, his mom died by a cursed spirit, and now Yuji might be in trouble. It still didn't make sense, however, it was bad news written in your head. You didn't want Yuji to die just yet. Like what Nanami said, he has no one else to rely on but you.
"I'll do what I can, Nanami-san. But whatever happens to him, he will understand the truth of this fucked up world we live in… We both had to learn it the hard way." You ended the call, feeling determined to fight with Yuji so he wouldn't have to sustain any type of mental or physical damage.
You stared at your feet, wondering why Yuji befriended someone at your old school when he knew he wasn't going to be there long. "Emotion is a double edged sword…" An uncomfortable laugh slipped from your mouth as you clenched your fists. You can care about a person so much because they give you comfort, but they can also give you pain, and Yuji is receiving that end of the stick. You know you're going to feel that pain sooner or later with him. It's inevitable since you both grew close with one another. Although you didn't want to feel that pain once again, it hurts you even more to think about cutting Yuji out of your life. He's very important to you, and he knows a lot about you too. You don't want him to leak information about you even though he's not that type of person to do so.
"Yuji, you better be alive when I get there…" You prayed for his survival. A big part of you knew he would survive because of his will to eat all 20 fingers of Sukuna and also, Sukuna wouldn't let his vessel die so easily. Plus he wouldn't have another opportunity to gain a second body to transfer over if Yuji were to die. He will pull strings in order to carry out his evil deeds.
1 hour later,
You finally arrived at your school, breathing heavily as you felt a sharp pain puncturing your side. "Goddamn! I'm so inactive!" You clutched your side, putting pressure to reduce the jabbing sensation.
Before entering, you noticed a barrier covering the school and your eyes widened. "Oh no… This is serious," You had a bad feeling roaming in your guts. You just knew disaster was about to unleash. You weren't quite sure who created the barrier, but the person or thing obviously knew it separates a set of space from the outside. "If Junpei is involved, I doubt he can master a barrier technique within a short amount of time. I don't think Yuji can either…" Then you thought about the cursed spirit Nanami was talking about. "It could possibly be that curse spirit. The way Nanami-san described it to me was that the curse is very intelligent and ruthless like Satoru. Then it could be it yet at the same time no. Nanami-san is on his way to fight the curse."
After concluding some thoughts, you rushed inside the school as you passed through the barrier and the front gates. You didn't notice anything off but it was eerily quiet. It gave you the creeps and you shuttered from coldness running down your spine.
On the ground, you saw shoe indents as it led to the gymnasium. Following behind it, the doors were slammed wide open. Your eyes caught a glimpse of bodies lying on the ground, and your heart dropped in the grave. "What the heck went on…?" You were flabbergasted and fearful. Any one of those bodies could be Yuji's but you tried not to think about it. You'd rather not lose your cool without seeing the body first.
You ran inside and scanned the area. This felt like a scene from a horror movie due to the fact bodies were sprawled all over the place. You checked some of the students' pulses and felt it beating. They're knocked unconscious. "Who could've done this? Could it really have been Junpei? Did he turn into a curse user?" You mumbled to yourself before sending a text message to Nanami about the situation.
Moving around the gymnasium, you found Shota's body with dots spotting all over his face. He was also unconscious rather than dead as you saw residual energy left on him. From the residual, you could identify it was a curse user by how it looked. It's fairly easy for you unlike for other sorcerers. "Well habilitation is going to be fun for them," you sarcastically said, having your hands on your hips as you bend your back backwards.
If humans are struck with any type of sorcery, it will take them months to recover and integrate with society again. They're vulnerable creatures since their bodies aren't exposed to cursed energy. Although you don't wish this type of harm on people, they had it coming. This shitshow school was going to pay the price of letting down their students.
"I gotta find the others." Somewhere in the school those two were still running around.
You ran out of the gym and followed the residuals which could lead you to Junpei and Yuji.
While finding them, you pondered if you should turn off your nullification technique. You had it off for the whole time staying with your grandma. However, you wanted to keep it on in case Junpei was a curse user. But then again, he's no match for you since he's a beginner. Plus, you'd rather see what kind of curse user he really is too, and what kind of power he obtained. In the end, you decided to turn it off.
As you got into the school building, it was completely dark and empty. It felt like you were walking into an abandoned school. You hated the sensation of the unknown because you feared what's behind it. You never wanted to go into something without knowing the situation or outcome. Surprises weren't your style; you'd like to be prepared.
The two residuals were scattered all over the place, and you knew it was Junpei and Yuji. Who else could it have been? You were trying to minimize your movements in order to find the two boys in time. Any delay could be severe. You still weren't sure what happened but you wanted to know. Nonetheless, you let your brain connect the dots of where the residual led to when it went out of the building. In the end, you reached a hall where windows were shattered and a big animal figure was lying on the ground.
You stood in front of the dead cursed spirit. "So it was that beast who left a scar on Shota." You knew it was the beast since it's the same residual on Shota to the curse. However, you were confused about why the cursed spirit hadn't disappeared, and earlier you also concluded it was a curse user too. It didn't make any sense.
Tilting your head, you crouched down and extended your hand outwards in order to touch it. You felt your heart accelerating as it was loud in your ears.
It's a cursed spirit right? Or a curse user? It should be… Nanami-san said Yuji's job was to observe Junpei since he may be affiliated with the cursed spirit then the two came to the school. So it should only be Junpei and Yuji here right?
As your hand trembled, it finally touched the skin of the beast and you felt the body cold. Your eyes enlarged and you stopped breathing for a hot minute. "What is this…?!" You blurted, jumping back from the body. "This… This is not a cursed spirit! It's-it's a human body. It's cold meaning it had been dead for a while which means… It's human!" The shocking realization made you want to puke. You didn't know who or what could've done this to a poor human.
"Oh my gosh," your trembling body slammed against a wall as you couldn't feel your muscles in your legs. "Is… Is it Yuji or Junpei?"
You analyzed the disfigured human, trying to pick out the details from how you remembered Junpei. "Well, he has black hair compared to Yuji. Nanami-san said he could've been involved with a cursed spirit." Your stomach churned in discomfort. "It must be Junpei. Sukuna wouldn't let Yuji die like that…" You bit your lips, pushing your hair back in frustration and confusion. Your boggled mind couldn't understand how Junpei could've turned into that figure. Nanami didn't tell you anything about the cursed spirit because he believed it wouldn't be there.
Forcing yourself to clear your head for the reason to be sane and rational, you breathed out calmly and slowly as you collected yourself. Although your body felt a bit shaken from the sight of Junpei you knew that was his fate regardless if he lived. Glancing at his body as you gulped down your role as mother jujutsu, you coldly told him the truth. "You have lived a hard life, but even if you were saved, your fate would've been the same. You used your power to hurt others, and I get it that you wanted it to seek revenge; however, it's against the jujutsu law. The higher ups would've executed you no matter the reason. Not even Satoru or I could've saved you. There's only so much Satoru can do before the higher ups reject his proposal, and I have no power to overrule them. The two most powerful sorcerers can never beat the higher ups. I'm sorry things had to end this way." You exhaled from your nose, stiffening up your posture as your eyes hardened seeing a new set of residual footprints leading to an upstairs section of the building.
Who could be this third party? You thought since it was only supposed to be Yuji and Junpei. The new residual didn't tell you whether it was a curse user or not. This one wasn't easy to identify, and it only troubled you even more. You did a double take to confirm it was an entity who distorted Junpei and it's the same. Who could've done this? It spooked you but you knew you were going to find out soon enough.
You never looked back at Junpei's body or changed your thoughts about his consequences because that's how the jujutsu society is built. You have to think about justice and the people, the right and wrong. Feelings can't be involved or else it'll get messy. In addition, you're not sure if Kameko or the higher ups created the law, but it's been followed for many years.
When you reached the next level, the residual footprints disappeared in front of a broken window. You stuck your head through the window and looked down at the courtyard to see Yuji's body on the ground. "Yuji!" You whispered in horror. You couldn't tell whether he was injured or not, but he wasn't getting up. He looked weakened.
Your legs ran before your brain could process what you were doing. You needed to be at Yuji's side, that's the reason why you came—for Yuji. Every step to his location made you wonder if Yuji was unharmed, not on death's door. You wanted to know what he's feeling, what happened, and so much more. Your heart clenched as you weren't ready to see his physical or emotional state.
Once you got out of the building and to the courtyard, Yuji struggled to get up. It looked as if his body was heavy as a rock, and he was a bit bloody. From afar, you could see the immense anger and hate brimming his eyes, and you couldn't understand how and why it happened. Everything confused you as it hurt your heart to see him in this light. You just wanted to see Yuji happy again.
You sped to him, rushing over as your life depended on it. Your brain craved to be near him after not communicating for many days. You just wanted to hear his voice. "Yuji! Yuji!" You shouted, gaining his attention as he shot his head in your direction.
Yuji's eyes widened and you couldn't tell what he was feeling, but what you do know was that he didn't look relieved to see you. In fact, he was scared for you. Yuji was in a bad condition. He's been struck and injured all over the body. His legs and upper body struggled to lift himself up without laborious breathing as his jaw hangs.
Yuji gritted his teeth, tiredly eyeing you. Why is she here? Whatever it may be, she came at the wrong time. I have no strength to protect her from this cursed spirit. He's unpredictable with his morphing body. I don't want y/n to get hurt— Yuji was talking to himself until his own words had to be cut off because he saw something right behind you. It was the evil Mahito creeping at the back like an assassin ready to slit your throat.
Yuji's heart dropped as his eyes grew wide. He wanted to yell and scream to make you aware, but his vocal cords were tangled together and couldn't find a way to push a sound out. He pushed himself up but fell on his chest. His arms were numb and weakened from Mahito's attacks. Yuji opened his mouth to scream but his cries couldn't be heard. Tears were forming in his eyes as Yuji didn't want to see you die by the hands of Mahito. He hasn't gotten over Junpei's death yet, and he doesn't want to mourn over yours. He's not ready to let go and become another failure again. Yuji wants you to be safe in his arms right at this second. He's willing to take any hits from Mahito since his idle transfiguration doesn't work on him. He can't lose to a monster like Mahito.
Yuji gathered all his strength and poured it into his facial expression. He hoped you could see his emotions and run away. It did work to a certain extent. You were able to read Yuji's distraught face from where you ran. You saw the fear stricken look on Yuji's face which made you leap towards him. You didn't want to stop in case he was gravely injured. Your 90 degree angled arms were moving back and forth as you breathed harshly against the light wind hitting your face.
What in the world is making Yuji look like that? That's an expression I've never seen. What has he gone through? The world will face my fury… You told yourself, not stopping in your tracks.
On the other hand, Yuji could sense you weren't catching Mahito's presence behind you. You were too engrossed in him. Yuji felt his heart racing against time. His heartbeat was getting heavier and louder each passing second. Yuji's chest started to hurt as he rendered useless in this situation. Memories flooded his brain, recalling the weeks you guys were under one roof. He bonded with you in a short amount of time. He couldn't forget the smile you gave him and the promises he made.
Teardrops leaked from Yuji's eyes, staining the dirt below him when Mahito grazed his hand across your face from behind. An evil smile and exhilarating eyes marked Mahito's face. He enjoyed tormenting Yuji even if it meant hurting someone he cared deeply about.
The moment you were touched by the third party, you felt your face feeling tingly as something was going to erupt from where the hand touched you. Your body halted in place, feeling your face squirming like worms invaded the area. "Huh?" Slowly, your hand moved up to your face, touching it as you tried to examine what happened. "A hand touched me…" You mumbled, tuning out Yuji for a quick second and turning around to see who touched you.
When you faced the third party, you were greeted by a murderous smile from what looked like a cursed spirit in your eyes. You immediately knew that's the residual you found after encountering Junpei's dead body. Eyes widening from this shocking event, you glared at him as your face began to feel hot and tender to the point where it felt irritated. "You—"
"Greetings, Kameko's descendant. I didn't think it'd be this easy to kill you! Jogo was scared of you, and I still don't understand why… After all, you're going to die by my technique." The patchy face smiled at you, wishing you farewell.
You wanted to retort and ask many questions lingering in your mind; however, you felt your consciousness slipping away by the second. Your vision blurred, imprinting the evil look in your brain as your eyes rolled back. Your body grew heavy and you lost balance, feeling gravity pulling you down. Then you blacked out…
Meanwhile with Yuji,
He felt horrified to the max. Seeing you collapse on the ground caused his whole body to convulse. Yuji lost it. He couldn't believe he failed to protect you. His eyes locked on your lifeless figure and his mouth opened, pushing out a big wail. He wondered why he has his voice now when he needed it earlier? "AGHHHHHH!" A tornado killed his insides. It ripped everything into shreds. Yuji felt so numb and lost. "Sukuna, I can't believe you let this slip by!" He grumbled to himself as he knew Sukuna was interested in you.
Suddenly, a slim hope popped in the tense air.
"Oh? Why isn't she dead?" Mahito questioned, hovering above your body. You didn't turn into a monster like his other victims. You weren't transforming at all which confused him. Usually his technique worked. "Did she turn—"
Mahito stopped midstence when he felt a dark and menacing aura chilling the atmosphere. It compelled his body to stiffened up and shuttered from the grand force. His guts were telling him to go on his knees and keep his head down. If he were to disobey the order, he would have his head chopped off. Gulping this string of fear, he did what his guts told him.
Click clack click clack
"Oi, we shared a good laughing moment torturing the brat, but don't touch what's mine! The next time it'll cost your life, you fool. Know your place!"
Mahito was sweating buckets when he knew the owner of the voice— Ryomen Sukuna. His body turned into ice. He didn't want to disrespect him even more, but what he didn't know was that you were something special to him. Now he's walking on eggshells to appease Sukuna. You were someone not to be messed with or else Sukuna will kill everyone on sight.
As Mahito was still kneeling before Sukuna, who took over Yuji's body, he picked you up bridal style and took you away. He held you close so no one could harm you. "I should've taken you away when I had the chance to, because you suffered under the rules of jujutsu, Kameko… Why didn't you listen to me in the first place?"

You woke up in a white void as the room was bright. Your eyes quickly adjust to the lighting. "Where am I?" You mumbled, looking around to see it was just you. "Did I die?" You gasped as you covered your mouth, not ready to face the truth.
"No child, you're not dead. You're just in your spirit chamber where space and time doesn't exist. But I'm so sorry. I, Kameko, cursed my future offspring." You suddenly faced a beautiful woman standing right in front of you who claimed to be Kameko, your first ancestor.
"What?" You meekly replied. "What did you say?"
