"Tell me why you were repeatedly calling out my master's name?"
You didn't want to back down from his terrifying presence so you firmly stared at him back. "Why am I here? Where am I? And out of all people, what do you want from me?" You wanted your questions answered first. You should've been with Yuji but Sukuna decided to take over instead. In addition, you weren't really in a safe zone since your environment seemed unfamiliar to you. Overall, you can answer his question after he answers yours.
He ignored your questions. "Why'd you call out my master's name?" Sukuna zoomed into your face, making you flinch back from his sudden behavior. You didn't understand why he sounded so offended?
Don't tell me he's still hurt about being killed? Or not having Kameko by his side? You questioned yourself, not fully comprehending his pure emotion.
You toughen yourself again because you weren't going to back down from his prowess. If he wants questions, then he'll have to answer your questions first. "I'll answer yours once you answer mine! If Kameko is so important to you then you will give me answers, Sukuna. I didn't ask to be taken by you nor I wanted to see or talk to you but here you are in front of me." You bluntly spoke, allowing him to see you were cutting to the chase rather than prolonging unnecessary conversation. "So tell me where I am, why am I here, and what do you want from me?"
His eyebrows shot up from your tone of voice as it amused him. "Tch," He scoffed before answering. "You're at the shrine where I used to rule. It's all run down but I'm glad nobody has found it… It's deserted in the middle of the woods, little lamb. Nobody will be able to find you,"
When Sukuna told you that, you had flashbacks of Sukuna's shrine popping inside your head. You knew it was familiar but you couldn't remember until he said it. It also surprised you how the structure of the building was still intact. You thought over time the wood would weaken and break yet it didn't. It's like someone preserved it over 1000 years.
"Little lamb, you're obviously mine. Why would I let a fool like that cursed spirit lay a hand on you?" Sukuna grabbed your chin and lifted it up, making you look into his ruby eyes which resembled blood and dismembered bodies. He's the literal meaning of murder and callous. "You hold a special place in my cold and bloodless heart because of your face," He lightly squeezed your jaw as he didn't hide his resentment towards you looking like his unrequited lover. "I don't know what I want from you just yet but it's going to be fun later on, little lamb. I'm going to make sure you cry your pretty tears." He smirked, revealing his canine tooth as if he's going to take a bite out of you.
Your whole body shivered in disgust as you recalled your first encounter with him. Nothing has changed since then. He's still the sadistic fuck who wants to see you cry. "There's no 'later on' because Yuji will suppress you anyways and I'm not an object either. I've never been yours, you delusional demon." You pushed him away, forcing him to release your jaw as you put space between you and him. "You mistaken Kameko's love and affection for something more as she only viewed you as her student till the very end. You know you're special in her heart and yet you hurt her. She was willing to look past your evil deeds," Suddenly, your eyes began watering from remembering Kameko's tragic life. You felt her emotions on a spiritual level, and you couldn't help but shed those heavy tears. Everyone needs to hear the story of Kameko. It's not rainbows and sunshine as books told them out to be, rather it's gloom and doom.
A confused look shot on Sukuna's face. He couldn't fathom why you were crying nor did he want to comfort you. He would rather turn and walk away, but he needed information from you so he couldn't. Sukuna clenched his fists from your words as he believed you were creating false emotions to toy with his feelings regarding Kameko. "Don't act like you know Master with your clueless tears! Just because you're her desc—"
Your eyes couldn't stop pushing out tears after tears. It just hurts so much and to see it in her point of view made it feel so personal and real. "And yet you abandoned her, the only person who was close to Kameko!" You shouted in rage. "She drowned in her work as you were the person she could relax and talk freely to without being pushed around. She enjoyed your company, Sukuna! Don't you know how heartbroken she was? Kameko didn't want to fight you but she had to since you weren't going to change and for the future she was trying to build."
Wiping your tears away, you composed yourself. You weren't going to cry again, or that's what you hope not to do. Your chest felt heavy and sensitive but crying wasn't gonna help you or Sukuna. "Even if she called you a monster, you already know she didn't fully mean it. She only said it to spite you as you loved her till the very end. Not only that, when she was hunted by the higher ups just right after giving birth, she gave her daughter your cursed finger! She wanted you to protect her child till the very end! She'd rather have cursed spirits kill her baby than having the higher ups take her…" You got emotional again as tears dropped from your eyes. That part of the story hurts the most. No matter how much Sukuna hurt people, Kameko still had the heart to forgive him. She saw him differently even though she had seen it all in front of her eyes. Although Sukuna was angry at her in the end, she wanted him to protect her child when her power and voice was lost. "So, do you really know Kameko?"
You didn't care what came out from your mouth because Sukuna deserves to hear it. "You've been by her side for many years and understood her from a personal level to the point where you caught feelings for her. But the part where you failed to accept was her kind heart and that's really sad. It was her kind heart which changed your life, without it you wouldn't have lived a comfortable life—ack!"
Sukuna pushed you to the closest wall in his reach. An arm was pinned beside your head while the other held your face in his vice grip. You could see his anger fuming in his eyes. You kept pushing and pushing his buttons until he snapped. He hated how you can freely talk when you didn't understand his point of view. "Shut up, y/n! Stop talking about Master! I see the hope and glimmer in your eyes just like Master had whenever she expressed about the bright future. Even with two different souls, you still managed to pull off the smallest things which remind me of my past!" Although ire, he didn't slip out any weakness of his to you. It's clear he had lost his heart a long time ago. He doesn't know any other type of emotions except wrath.
Using your strength to rip Sukuna's hand off your face, you were going to spite him even more. If Kameko had suffered, you were going to make him suffer too. You glared menacingly at him. "You didn't answer it, which means it's true right? You denied the way she was. You might as well admit that you took her for granted too! And I think I know Kameko better than you because while I was unconscious, she popped inside my soul chamber and showed me her life through her eyes," Your colored eyes dulled when you recalled the harsh treatment she went through as you frowned with a woeful face.
Sukuna felt his heart twitch the moment you brought up Kameko appearing in your soul chamber. He couldn't believe she would appear after all these years. His soul was urging him to ask about her. Internally, Sukuna wanted to know how she was and if she still loves him, but he wasn't sure if you were lying to him or not.
You continued on, "You cursed her when you were about to die saying: 'you will regret not taking my offer! Everything that I've done was for both of us! You will meet your demise!'."
Sukuna visibly gulped while his face showed no surprisement, realizing it was true. You have met Kameko. No one else would've known the conversation held between him and Kameko unless otherwise.
"How does it feel to place a curse on Kameko as she led on to have a short and tragic life? She lived in constant fear because she couldn't be safe or live in peace and freedom. The higher ups and everyone surrounded her, pressuring Kameko about how her life should be. In the end, she died right after childbirth and cursed her lineage to take vengeance against the higher ups…. Your love killed her, Sukuna." You're not sure if this will make him understand anything but regardless, he can carry the guilt that she had died because of him. Kameko's life would've been totally different if Sukuna had accepted who she was rather rejecting and creating a world where fear and power dominates the land.
Then out of nowhere, Sukuna's dark and heavy laughter rang in the air as it bounced off the walls. "HAHAHA!"
You took a few steps away from him, trying to identify what kind of laughter it was. It didn't sound sad or happy, rather confused and losing his sanity most likely. But then again, whichever it was, it's none of your concern to care for a demon like him. He just wanted to get under your skin in order to achieve something since you're his master and unrequited lover's descendant.
Sukuna's hands ran through his pink hair, pushing it up as his sharp eyes stared at you. "Little lamb… Kameko's a fool," He uttered in a low voice, disguising his true feelings as he descended back into the shadow.
It took you a hot minute to register Sukuna's disappearance. "Wait!" You ran to where he vanished but his presence was gone. "Where the hell did you go?!"
Running around the shrine, it was empty and dusty. You tried your best not to trip over anything since it was completely pitch black. However, wherever you ran Sukuna wasn't there. "Did… Did he really leave me stranded?!" You shouted, bunching up your hair in frustration. You couldn't understand how he could leave you like this when he's the one who brought you here in the first place.
WOOSH!
Turning your head to the side, you faced an open window. You couldn't see what's out there due to the fact it was still night time, but you could visibly see the pine trees reaching up to the lackluster moon. "I don't know where I am nor do I wanna get out of this place either. I'll just stay here until the sun rises."
You had no choice but to stay inside because you're not sure what's lurking in the woods. You can't see in the dark, and it'll cause your anxiety to worsen if you leave the building. So many things can happen at night in the woods and you don't want to mess with it.
"If only I had my phone…" You sadly sighed, sitting against a wall as your eyes stared at the ground. You didn't know where it went but it wasn't on you that's for sure. "This is great isn't it?" You sarcastically said as you pulled your knees to your chest and laid your head down. "Yuji…take over your body and come back," you mumbled and closed your eyes.
"..n… y/n…. Y/n…!"
A familiar voice and soft shaking woke you up from your short sleep that you never intended on taking.
"Huh?" Blinking a couple of times, you saw a dimmed and pixelated Yuji standing in front of you with a concerned look. A bright flashlight covered a small portion of the room you guys were in, allowing you both to see. You rubbed your eyes quickly and cleared out the blurriness as you saw him crystal clear. "Yuji…? Yuji!" You jumped on your feet, staggering towards him as Yuji grabbed you before you could fall.
"Woah! Be careful y/n!"
Wrapping your arms around him, you hugged Yuji as you pressed your face into his chest. You heard his heart pounding loudly as he was surprised by your sudden action. Yuji didn't understand why you did that but he accepted it as he also enclosed his arms around you too.
"Y/n, are you okay?" His hands rubbed your back, and you shot your head up to look at him
"Of course I'm okay! The bigger question is, are you okay?! I don't know the full picture but I do know that Junpei, your friend, had died and you were injured when I last saw you."
You couldn't forget how distraught Yuji was before you passed out. He had the face of misery and regret written all over. He has been through something that cannot be fixed. You just wanted to know how he was doing. You could care less about how he was here because his feelings come first than your questions.
"I'm…" His lips tightened as he locked eyes with you. "...okay. I know it will get better," He meekly responded then gulped dryly, pushing his emotions away for you. "Are you okay? I see that Mahito, the curse spirit who touched you, didn't contour your soul like he did to Junpei." His hands now laid on your shoulders. "I was filled with anguish, y/n. I thought I was going to lose you too."
You felt the tips of his fingers lightly pressing into your clothed shoulders as his face contorted in guilt. His eyes narrowed and his lips quivered rapidly. He hadn't recovered from last night's event; he's putting on a mask to make sure you're in a better state than he was.
Immediately, Yuji put his head on your shoulder and you weren't sure if he was afraid of letting you see his weak side. He saw yours, why couldn't you see his? Your hands rubbed gentle circles on his back, soothing out his terror and stress building inside his body. His mind and soul were in a raging sea storm as it's trying to survive the violent tides crashing his ship.
"I… I don't know what I would've done if you had died too, y/n… I was so enraged and I got mad at Sukuna because I know he's taken an odd liking to you,"
Your heart stopped beating for a millisecond. So he is aware about Sukuna's attachment towards me, that's good to know.
"And then I blacked out for a long period of time. I don't know what happened nor can I remember. Before I knew it, I stood in front of you sleeping." His body was tense as it carried the troublesome consequence of being Sukuna's vessel. No matter what he does, death will purge the world and nobody will be safe. Yuji knows people will die. He has to prepare himself for that day.
"Yuji," You softly called out, raking your fingers through his hair from the nape of his neck. "Tell me how you feel. Don't neglect your emotions. Bottling them up won't do you any good. Take me as an example," You dryly laughed then pulled his head off your shoulder with your warm hands so you could see his crestfallen face. "I want to know everything,"
You two sat beside each other against a wall as Yuji expressed his current feelings. He gave you background information about how it even started. You let him rant because he was pouring out so much sadness and rage. You didn't want him to keep it all inside when it must've damaged and changed him drastically.
Your ears were open until Yuji said something which pulled a switch on you. "Junpei could've been a sorcerer too…! He could've lived a better life with us!"
Your breath hitched as you bit your lips, staring straight into the black abyss of the room. You knew too well that Junpei wouldn't be able to make it, and if you told Yuji that he would explode. Your heart frantically beated fast because you didn't want Yuji to notice your weird behavior. However, Yuji caught wind of it.
"Y/n, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. Just keep going," your eyes flickered from him to whatever you were looking at.
Yuji saw right through you like you were an open book. He could see how jittery you turned, and there was this type of force that's stopping you from saying anything. He didn't understand how it came up but if it's something he said, he wanted to know too. "Y/n, just be honest. I want to hear what you have to say. It's not going to hurt me. Just tell me y/n."
You wanted to laugh at his statement because it would hurt him, and you didn't want him to be hurt either. His emotional and mental state were in a bad shape so telling him will plummet everything. But you felt his pleading eyes drilling at the side of your head so you could brush it off. You had to tell him. You had no choice but to. You weren't sure how to sugar coat it.
Inhaling sharply, you prepared yourself for the worst outcome. "Yuji…" you faced him in the eyes. "Junpei wouldn't be able to be a sorcerer like you."
"W-what do you mean?" He stuttered, blinking rapidly as the history lesson of the foundation of jujutsu didn't ingrain itself into his brain.
"He would be executed."
Yuji's eyes widened in horror as he breathed out shakily from his lips. He couldn't believe what you just said.
You continued on explaining, "because he used jujutsu to harm others. Since I don't have any power to object the higher ups, I'll render useless."
"B-but Gojo-sensei can!" Yuji hopped on his feet, staring down at you with despair written in his firm eyes. "That's how he saved me!"
You knew his circumstances were different compared to Junpei. Yuji's trying so hard to believe that Gojo can save everybody because he has a title branded on him. Even though you didn't want to hurt his feelings, you had to push reality into his face. "Yuji," your voice sharpened, grabbing his attention. "Satoru did save you from being immediately executed, but remember that it's only being postponed until you eat all 20 fingers of Sukuna. He found a way around your situation. You're still on death row. On the other hand, Junpei's chance of living is slim because as stated before, he used it to harm non-sorcerers and he was affiliated with the enemy too. There's only so much Satoru can do until he's limited. He may have the title of the second strongest sorcerer, but the higher ups have the power, respect, history, and connection to put us in our place."
Yuji frustratingly said, throwing his hands in the air as he paced around, "Out of everything you can think of, you're thinking about that? Does his death and potential to change this society mean nothing to you or others?"
At this point, you weren't going to back track your words and apologize because that's bullshit on your end. You knew the jujutsu rules and regulations, and the restrictions they have upon you but it seemed like Yuji didn't care about those things. His emotions were fueling him more than him being logical. However you're not going to let him trample all over you just because he's grieving and putting in words you never said.
"I'm not sorry that I have a sense of duty. I can't bend the rules in people's favor, and even if I did I have to judge it fairly, Yuji. Also, I never said anything about Junpei's death being meaningless. It's sad he had to die like that but you can't do anything about it. If you want to feel mad about it then you can, but I don't want to be attacked when I'm only speaking about the hypothetical outcome!"
With that, Yuji stormed off to blow his steam in a different direction. You didn't want to chase after him since he saw your judgement as an obstacle to Junpei's death sentence. Groaning, you could care less about where he went because you're trying to stomach down everything that has happened to you from getting attacked to meeting Kameko, to encountering Sukuna and now upsetting Yuji. You just wanted to go home when the sun rose.
A/N: Just a heads up, I will be starting school again so updates may take longer
