A/N: I'm so sorry that it's been a month since I last updated, and you guys have been waiting patiently for it too. I've been trying to get this chapter finished but my life has been busy so it's been delayed a lot. Also it's been hard to write when I don't have the drive right now, that's why I'm a bit slow too.
However, it's not going to stop me from finishing this story! I still want to complete it, BUT the updates might take longer than usual. It all depends really. I'll still try my best and post every week if I can.
I want to say as of right now, this might be my last story that I'll write because I don't know when I'll have the motivation to create new ones that I've thought about writing (Toji and Yuta's story). So unless anything changes, you'll see my page active.
Again, I apologize for making you all wait!
You stayed the night on campus since your peers were forcing you to sleepover. The next day later, you were ready to leave and go home because you didn't sign up to stay.
As you were dressed and ready to go, Yuji found you in the student lounge eating instant ramen. You slurp your noodles loudly as the broth clinging onto the noodles flung around in all directions. You had to eat so you didn't leave with an empty stomach first.
"Y/n, are you leaving today?"
You nodded your head since your mouth was full, chewing down the noodles into small chunks to swallow.
"You sure you don't wanna stay for the baseball game?"
You shook your head. Once you made up your mind, there's no turning back. You missed your bed so much that it hurts to sleep on a random mattress and waking up with back pain the next day.
Yuji sat in front of you, pleading with his puppy eyes. He really wanted you to go. Then out of nowhere, Yuji snatched your hands into his, scaring you in the process as it gave you a mini heart attack. Your heart raced profusely, feeling his warmth covering your hands as if you stuck it in an oven.
Damn, why is he so warm?! I wish I was this warm too, but no I'm naturally cold…!
Your neck and below started to get hot and steamy from his mindless action. At this point, you weren't sure if Yuji was ever this bold to you. Your brain can't remember. Praying, you hoped Yuji wouldn't notice your changing complexion.
Gulping down your noodles, you attempted to pull your hands out from his, but it was locked in place. He didn't want you to leave. "Yuji," you spoke softly. "I'll pass on that one—"
"I'LL MAKE YOU FOOD!"
Gasping, you immediately shouted your answer in excitement without hesitation. "YES!" Your eyes were sparkling in delight. It's been so long since you ate his cooking. You really missed it and if going was the way to get it, then you'll go of course. You're not going to pass it up.
"So you'll go?" Yuji asked just to confirm.
"YEAH!"
You were going to regret that choice, letting him trap you with his cooking.
In the end, you watched the baseball game instead of participating in it since it'll put the Kyoto team at a disadvantage. Thank goodness you were saved by the class ratio.
You watched on the side, amazed how pumped Gojo looked. He was the only staff into this as his enthusiasm filled the air.
"Damn if he's gonna be a part of it, he could've changed his clothes… I know he has money." It amazed you how Gojo chose to wear his button down shirt and dress pants when it could get dirty. It's odd how he didn't want to show off his wealth and beauty today. You were looking forward to Utahime roasting him, but she's too consumed in her team winning to care about Gojo's appearance.
"Hmmm, I thought their uniform would be unique." You mumbled, scanning everyone's uniform until your eyes landed on Yuji. "Oh?" Your brows rose up from the sight of Yuji's baseball uniform hugging his muscular body. It looked so tight, showing off his good parts as it made you feel insecure because he looked so amazing. You were never going to have a tone body like his even if you tried. "He got a nice ass…" You said out of nowhere, then suddenly realizing what you said, you slapped your mouth shut.
Did I just say that out loud? It just went through my head. I didn't even know… It just happened. What's wrong with me? Your eyes viewed Yuji one more time before feeling the rush of embarrassment coursing through your blood. You squirmed in your seat, really wondering why that thought came out before you processed it.
Sitting at the bench as the game started, it made you feel so joyful. Seeing your peers have fun sends a jolt of energy into your body too. You wanted to know how it felt to play baseball since you never tried it. Being involved in any sports activity never came across your mind when you attended a regular high school. Maybe it's because you hated everything and everyone, either way you ran home.
Throughout the game, you kept shifting and changing your position on the bench because you couldn't sit down without feeling uncomfortable. Other than that, you were fixated on the game because they were using their cursed technique. You wondered how none of them were dead yet. Their fierce techniques were flying in the air since everyone wanted to win. You believed they should've played fair and square.
"My oh my, they're all crazy cheaters…." You laughed, shaking your head. You really didn't know how long it'll take for the game to end since none of them wanted to lose to each other.
"Y/n, come here," Principal Yaga beckoned you to sit with him and Gakuganji.
You were a bit nervous if you're being completely honest. You don't know why you're being called, but it won't hurt to find out.
"Yes…?" Your voice cracked as you sat beside Principal Yaga, staring in their direction.
"What do you think about Yuji Itadori?" Gakuganji asked out of nowhere as it shocked you. You didn't expect a member of the higher ups to speak about him from thin air.
Wanting to look away, you chose to fiercely look at Gakuganji's eyes and speak. "If we're strictly talking about the rules and regulations then no, he's just an object who is only alive due to Gojo Satoru's antics. When a person is no longer human, they must be exterminated." Your heart wrenched as you spoke about Yuji in an ill manner. Of course your tongue only followed what's been installed into this society centuries ago, but already knowing who Yuji was made it a bit difficult to judge precisely. You couldn't tangle your feelings with his situation.
"However, if we're not looking at it in a sorcerer's perspective, he ate the finger for the greater good. He did it to save people from dying in the future. Regardless, he will face troubles that a sorcerer will encounter. Just because he's a vessel doesn't mean you have to dehumanize him." You paused, imagining Yuji's smiling face as it blossomed in your chest as it made you feel warm. A small smile twitched on your lips, but you refused to let it show. You didn't want Gakuganji to witness your pure emotions, or else he and the higher ups will find ways to make your life miserable than it already is. This world still needs your existence, you can't fail anyone. "Being a sorcerer isn't easy. It can and will leave you with regrets and hatred for this lifestyle. It turns you into an empty shell where life can't even revive you. Let's not dull out these sorcerers' lives. I'll make sure to change the rules and regulations,"
When you said that, you felt Gakuganji's eyes piercing your soul as if it offended him and the way he carried out his work ethics. You shot him a glare back, caring less about what he has to think. This is your era, not theirs. You're the most powerful sorcerer on the planet. Nobody can rival against you because you can strip their jujutsu out of their body. Gakuganji didn't say a word even though you read it off his face.
"I am the next overseer of this generation and era. I have the right to change anything. Know your place even if you have one of the highest seats in this society. Remember who paved the way." You spat out venom, recalling how the higher ups eliminated Kameko out of greed. You had your guards up because if it's true that the higher ups caused your parents' death, nobody will be forgiven and you'll purge the world. Nonetheless, the higher ups have to die because Kameko did curse you. You're not too sure what will happen if you don't kill them. Your body felt normal and healthy, nothing out of the ordinary. Also, being close to a higher up member, your body isn't being controlled by an outstanding force either so that's good. At least on your end there won't be an impulse to murder them on the spot.
Moving away from them, you sat alone at the bench. You didn't want Gakuganji to feel like he had power over your head because you're young. A fire of determination set ablaze in your heart as you wanted to change the society and find the truth about the higher ups. You're going to make sure they will never rise to power when they're dead.
Twirling your hair in between your fingers, you watched it was going to be Yuji's turn to bat. You weren't too sure how long it's been since you've sat on the bench. Time went fast by watching them have fun.
However, a sudden yelp snapped you out from your thoughts as your eyes zipped to the person in pain.
"Ack!" Yuji was on his butt, holding his left ankle in his hands. From where you sat, you could see the excruciating pain written all over his face. His teeth were clenched, breathing out sharply from his mouth. Everyone in the game stopped just for him, curious but worried about what happened to Yuji.
Before you knew it, your body ran over to him like a force compelled you out of sheer fear and genuine concern from the bottom of your heart. You didn't know what controlled you, but it didn't really matter either. Yuji's safety is your top priority.
What happened to Yuji?! Did he twist his ankle? He's holding it tightly. I can see the pain in his eyes. Please, I hope it's not severe. You prayed to god that he's alright from his injury.
Everyone gathered around Yuji as he assured them that he's perfectly fine. "Guys, don't worry too much about me! I just sprained my ankle from the run, it's nothing too serious—"
"Um no, Itadori, that's serious." Megumi said nonchalantly, wondering how someone can view a sprained ankle as a minor thing.
"Yeah, it is. You can't play if you're injured." Maki added on, building up Yuji's guilt. Now he felt like it was his fault that his team wouldn't win because they're a member down. He didn't want to disappoint them because of his ankle.
A slight frown was seen on Yuji's face.
"We'll figure something out. Why don't you go rest?" Panda happily gestured, trying to lift his damped feeling buzzing in his chest.
Yuji stared at his fellow peers standing around, reassuring him that everything was going to be alright because if there's a will, there's a way. Of course on the outside, they put on an act for Yuji, but behind it they truly didn't know what to do. Nobody had a backup plan formed in their heads because they didn't think accidents like this would happen during a game.
Then you charged in, breaking your way into their circle where Yuji still sat on the ground. Nobara and Megumi moved to the side, letting you in and watching you latch onto Yuji's side and frantically asking about his condition.
"Where are you hurt?! Is it painful?! Are any of your bones broken?!" You were spitting out many questions into the air because this put you into a frenzy. You didn't know how to calm down since you're worried. It pained you to see him in this state.
While you're occupied trying to soothe down your own rising emotions, the others were shocked how sympathetic you were. Not once they've seen you look like that before. In their eyes, you're more aloof than caring. But the bigger question was why were you so overly concerned about Yuji? They understood he's injured but he's not dying.
From a distance, Gojo observed how affectionate and caring you were to Yuji. It baffled him since he couldn't believe in Yuji's power. That man changed you.
Who is she? That's not my heartless y/n! If I got hurt, she would just laugh in my face and tell me to man up because I'm old. How did Yuji soften her? Gojo mentally cried to himself because he didn't have the power to do that. He believed overtime you'll get used to him and open up but the opposite happened instead.
"Y/n, y/n I'm okay!" Yuji chuckled, enjoying the new sight of you as he tried to calm you down. "I just sprained my ankle,"
Your brow arched from his statement. "That's still serious though! You were close to breaking an ankle!" You retorted.
Gojo snickered, proposing a great idea to his beloved students. He strode to the crowd and gathered everyone's attention to help his team win. "I got it! Why don't y/n just replace Yuji?! She's just an extra person who's watching."
"Huh?" You turned your head to Gojo and stared at him in confusion whereas everyone agreed with him for once.
"That's not a bad idea…!" Maki nodded as she couldn't believe she would agree with Gojo. Nothing good ever comes out when it's Gojo Satoru.
"Right it's not!" Yuji chimed in, feeling very ecstatic from his heart swelling due to this amazing idea. He saw this as an opportunity for you to enjoy the simpler things in life, and he'll be able to see you play too.
However, you weren't really feeling it. Your chest dropped to the ground, wondering why Yuji agreed with them. Your shifty eyes looked at Yuji then to the baseball team. A nervous smile formed from the pressure of your peers. Their hawk eyes made you want to dig yourself a hole to hide in.
Turning your attention to them, you smacked your lips and sighed sharply. "Uhhhh, I'm not too sure—"
"Dang y/n, you can't even do this for Yuji?" Gojo chimed, inserting himself out of nowhere as a tick formed on your head. He irritated you in a millisecond. "Our player is down and injured, don't you have a heart?"
You wanted to punch Gojo for guilt tripping you. How dare he pull the emotion card on you? He always has to play dirty when it comes to you.
"We do need more girls on the team too," Nobara added, putting more pressure on your shoulders.
"Y/n, you don't need to worry! Baseball is not even hard!" Panda assured you as he reinforced that you'll be fine regardless and it's nothing to sweat over.
"Mmmm…" You looked away and avoided eye contact with any of them. Even doing that their daggering orbs stabbed your body. You didn't have a choice to say no because they needed another person and you felt Yuji begging too.
"So y/n, what do you say?" Gojo asked, knowing very well that the pressure was getting to you. There's no way you could reject everyone who's counting on you. That's one of his devious ways to trap you and force you to participate when you didn't want to.
In addition, it didn't help your case that Yuji was giving you puppy eyes. He's nonverbally pleading and begging for you to do it for him too. From the whiff of eagerness, you complied in defeat.
"…fine! I'll do it. You all are pressuring me, such bad people…." You bitterly said, glaring at them. To be honest, you were doing this for Yuji and only Yuji. Nobody would have thought he would get hurt. You'll carry his will even though you don't care if your school loses.
The next thing you knew, you were suited in the baseball uniform like everyone else was. It hugged your body tightly, making you look snatched while your hair was pulled back. No strands of hair were going to mess up your hit since you're the batter.
Meanwhile with Yuji,
He sat on the bench with a pack of ice wrapped around his swollen ankle. Yuji kept his eyes on you fiddling with your bat.
He chuckled to himself. "Haha! She looks so clueless." His heart adored how confused you looked as dopamine was released from his brain. "It's so cute. Maybe I should get hurt on purpose so she can get wrapped in. But the uniform does look nice on her."
Yuji's brown orbs softly gazed at your figure, letting a small smile curl his lips upwards. Just watching you made him feel at ease and bubbly. It didn't bother him the slightest that you're on his mind. He cares deeply about you, but he's yet to differentiate his feelings whether it's platonic or more than that.
"Y/N! I BELIEVE IN YOUUUUU!" Yuji shouted at the top of his lungs, cheering you on as your ears caught his words and snapping your head in his direction.
You guys locked eyes while your heart raced and a grin appeared from his words of encouragement. Squeezing your hands around the baseball bat, you felt confident about what you're doing.
All I have to do is hit the ball and run! I can't fail anyone or else I'll get shit on by my teammates… I can just feel it.
Breathing out deeply, you prepared yourself for the pitcher to throw the ball in your way. Your nostrils were pushing out heavy and hot air until the pitcher released the ball.
The baseball flew in your direction at full speed, and your eyes solely concentrated on the ball. As it inched closer, you mustered all your energy into the bat and swung it.
BANG!
You ran full speed before anyone could catch it and ruin it for your team. You dashed like your life depended on it, feeling the wind blowing against your face.
"Y/N! LET'S GO YOU CAN DO IT!" Yuji proudly shouted at the back, clapping his hands to fuel your desire to win.
And in the end, the Tokyo team won.
After the announcement of your school winning, you were panting and you felt like dying. Your lungs were dry, close to being shriveled up. For some reason, you tasted blood.
"Oh my gosh, am I dying?" You cried to yourself, putting a hand on your exhausted chest. "Did I push myself too hard?!" Confusion filled your poor brain as your heart picked up the pace from anxiety. You have never experienced this state before.
THUD!
Suddenly, a big collision knocked you out of your terrifying thoughts. "Y/n! Y/n!"
Your eyes whipped to your injured friend, who forced you to participate because he got hurt, Yuji Itadori. "Yuji?!" It took you a few seconds to realize that he hugged you, pulling back and patting your back to congratulate you for winning.
"I knew you could do it! Didn't you have so much fun out there?!" Yuji bombarded you with so many questions about your experience and it just overwhelmed you but made you feel special.
You answered his dying questions until you're reminded that everyone knows that he's alive so he's going to be his old life. "So you're back in your usual life? Before your 'death?'"
"Yeah going back to exorcising curses, getting Sukuna's fingers, and doing this all for the sake of humanity."
Your heart twitched seeing a smile on Yuji's face. It looked so selfless and carefree like something good will actually come from this. How can he say that when the outcome of this is his death? Why is he so happy about that? Does he not want to live a full life? I want to fight against his fate because he doesn't deserve this… Your eyes watered up from this dreadful thought. You didn't want to lose Yuji. He's the first person to ever break into your life and change your lifestyle. You don't even know how to comprehend what life would be like if he's gone. It would feel odd as if you lost a big part of yourself to the world, a numbing and confusing life.
Outside of your concentrated face, Yuji began getting concerned when you became quiet from his response. He waved his hand in front of your face when he noticed your eyes weren't moving.
"Uh, y/n?" Yuji tried grabbing your attention by doing anything but nothing was working.
Then Yuji began to freak out when he saw your eyes pooling with tears. "Uhhh…?!" He didn't know why you were going to cry but he didn't want you to.
Looking around his surroundings, he saw that everyone was still in the baseball court talking amongst each other. Yuji knew how you hated being vulnerable to others so he swiftly took off his jersey—leaving him in his black long sleeved shirt—and threw it over your head, wrapping his arms around the base of your neck and dragging you away as he limped.
Yuji's action snapped you out of it. "What the f— Your sprained ankle! You shouldn't be walking!" You were highly confused about what's happening to you. Many questions filled your head and you didn't know where to start.
"Don't worry, y/n! I won't let anyone see you cry."
"What? I'm not even crying!" Your voice was muffled due to his jersey still covering your head as your feet followed his footsteps. Your eyes were dry like the Sahara desert right now. There's no way you would shed any tears in public.
"You were about to! I saw it with my own eyes!"
Your feet suddenly stopped when Yuji halted his movement and unwrapped his jersey from your head at a secluded area. The soft fabric gently slid off your hair and shoulder, leaving your head feeling light and airy. Your eyes were staring straight at him, not blinking at all as you wondered why he did this.
Before Yuji could clear up the big misunderstanding, the annoying Gojo Satoru hollered at you guys from a distance.
"Yuji! Y/n! Come back! I got exciting news!"
Yuji mentally sighed in relief because Gojo saved the day. He didn't want to sound like an idiot when he misread the situation. Gosh I wonder if y/n would've looked at me weirdly or what, but I'm glad that I don't have to explain myself. Hopefully she doesn't bring it up… I did scare her by throwing my jersey on her and dragging her away out of the blue…
You both whipped your heads to see Gojo waving his arms in the air to catch your attention.
"Oh god, I wonder what it could be…" You sighed, already hating what he had to say. Anything coming from Gojo's mouth made you want to go deaf.
"Y/n, it can't be that bad! Sensei is actually very fun to be around—"
You flicked your hand in Yuji's face, immediately shutting him up as your palm was in his view. "Your fun is different from my fun. Satoru has been in my life for a long time and he's just plain annoying. I just tolerate him because I have no choice but to. Now let's go or we can run away."
When you suggested running out of Gojo's reach, the devil spoke and threw his arms over your and Yuji's shoulders. A hefty weight slumped over your guys' body as you both hunched forward.
"You guys can't outrun me!" Gojo eyed you and Yuji with a big grin plastered on his face. His cockiness boosted his ego heavily as he carelessly displayed it like usual. Then he secured his arms around your guys' neck to lock you guys in place. He won't let you guys escape because he has other plans. "I am Gojo Satoru, the strongest—"
"Shut up before I reverse that statement of yours…" You rolled your eyes.
"Y/n, be nice! That's how you scare people away! Hurry up before the restaurant closes. I'm trying to take out my winners for dinner!"
Dining at a fancy, high class restaurant, everyone was forced to wear formal clothes. You wore a black dress to free your legs and have air circulation than for it to be restricted. Gojo chose to sit at a round table and it made you feel like this was a mafia meeting. It didn't help the fact that everyone wore black.
Under the dim yellow light, small conversations erupted. Everyone shunned Gojo out even though it was his treat. Anything he said or did would ruin the mood, thus nobody looked in his direction.
Gojo pouted from the treatment he's receiving. "How are you guys going to do this to me when I'm—"
You tuned him out as if you were deaf, giving your full attention to Yuji who was sitting on your left. "So you're moving back into the dorm now?"
"Yeah, I don't wanna stay with sensei. I like having my own privacy." Yuji chuckled to himself, recalling the times where Gojo would barge into Yuji's room because it's his house. He can do whatever he wants. "How about you? Now that you're brought into this place, are you going to dorm too?"
In Yuji's head, he believed it would be nice if you decided to move in. It would definitely change the dynamic in the dorm room building since the first and second years are separated. He knew Nobara was tired of being surrounded by boys all the time. She once called Yuji and Megumi 'mentally exhausting' because they don't understand her.
There was a brief second where you hesitated as your lips parted from your mind processing what you wanted to say. "Um… I…" Your eyes slightly looked above Yuji's head because what you're about to say was going to disappoint him. As much as you liked seeing Yuji all bubbly and happy, you can't satisfy everyone with your answer and feelings. "No, I'm not ready to move in just yet." You glanced downwards, making eye contact with him as you sighed. "I'm going to stay in my house for a little longer because I'm not ready to let go."
Although others may believe that your reasoning maybe dumb, nobody would understand how sentimental it is. The house means a lot even if your parents are no longer alive. There's just old memories attaching your feelings to the house and everything inside. Letting it go would feel like you're cutting ties from your youth and parents. You just want to relinquish it once more until you're ready to say goodbye to everything that has happened to you.
"That's okay y/n. We'll all be waiting for you once you're ready!" Yuji brightly gleamed his sun-like smile at you, melting your heart as he easily accepted your response without pushing it any further. You liked how he never tries to cross your boundaries with you. He knew when to stop unless he's a complete airhead about it. Nonetheless, you were glad.
"y/n, Yuji." Gojo loudly asked, wondering what he wanted this time.
"What is it?" You groaned.
A big gusty laugh slipped from his lips and he smirked confidently. "You both have a mission together! Get ready for this fun and exciting mission!"
